sorry for such a long intro!! batman gets me so excited, i could talk about it forever! i hope you all like the reaction! if you wanna see the reaction, it starts at 5:00 gentle reminder that these videos are edited the way they are because of copyright! we can only show up to 5ish seconds of a clip at a time! otherwise, there would be no movie reactions on youtube at all for you to watch! my editor emphasizes my reaction to the movie because that is the point of a reaction/commentary video! the only way to watch the full movie without some random on the internet like myself commenting on it is to watch it on your own or surrounded by friends and family!
Miranda, there's no need to apologise! I love to see you gush about things that you're passionate about. It makes it even more interesting for us listeners/viewers! This reaction is outstanding from start to finish and everything I hoped for going into it! Thank you so much! 😊
There's nothing wrong with falling in love with an old favorite. There's no set rule (I am aware of) of when you get to start calling something a classic. That said. The Nolan Trilogy is incredible! Christian Bale is a great Batman!!
#PointOfOrder:: Joker in not crazy (he would be far less dangerous if he was). You have some amazing fans if they have gifted you the entire Trilogy (Comic Form). It's "Batman Year One" ... "Batman Long Halloween" ... "Batman Dark Victory" ... for any Batman Fan, this is a "Holy Grail" level collection.
DC also has really good animated movies and there are many Batman ones that are so good. Batman: Mask of the Phantasm Batman: Under The Red Hood Batman: The Killing Joke Batman: The Dark Knight Return (1 & 2) Batman: Hush Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker (I'd put this aside probably.. the Batman Beyond series follows a new Batman because Bruce is too old to continue - the show is great though) These are some of my favorites. Dark Knight Returns and Under The Red Hood are my all time favs.
And same set of dialogue can be heared in AK game before confronting scarecrow, but only this time it was "i didn't get any chance to say sorry" (something like that) and bruce reply "you don't need to."
But for me Batman Begins was the best one because Gotham was like the real Gotham so dark compare that to the Dark knight that was just New York and they film majority of it in the Day LOL And also imagine the Joker heath was in Batman Begins and not the in Dark knight and with that insane heath ledger performance was on it aswell is it will be Batman Begins is better than the Dark knight and in Dark knight the Joker was not in it but a different main villain 🤔😏
The thing about Nolan's Batman movies which i think is what sets it apart from every other comic book movie is its basically a what if Batman existed in our world, so no super powered people exist, its just him vs real life villains. As im sure a lot of comments have already mentioned but its worth saying again that the Batman: The Animated Series is a must watch for any fan or would be fan, its also the same voices from the games you played.
@16:55 Joe Chill is the man that pulls the trigger on Bruce’s parents in the comics. I love that they included him in this movie as usually in the movies, they typically leave him out and never dive in too deep on who killed the Wayne’s.
@@asada4L nolans obsession with grounding every little piece of the film in reality does hurt it in the long run but it's hard to disagree that these are some pretty damn good movies
First was great, then the quality went down...Dark Knight was good overall but Heath was a horrible Joker, he should have been Anarky cause that's who he was playing. The third movie was really rough with plot holes and lore breaks all over the place.
Having the Scarecrow gas flood the Narrows where all the criminals are, as Batman flies overhead is actually really cool, because that'll just build the Mythos of Batman from now until forever. All the criminals will now remember "The Batman" as a flying bat demon with glowing eyes.
The casting in this movie is amazing Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Liam Neeson, Morgan Freeman. This origin story is my favorite even if it’s different from the comics.
The origin story isn't too different from the comics though? Sure, there are new elements introduced and maybe some timeline altered here and there to fit the storyline but the recipe is essentially the same: parents killed, found League of Shadow, quit League of Shadow, found Batcave, make Batsuit and gadgets, kicks ass 😂
"Why do we fall, Bruce? So we can learn to pick ourselves up." That line was used in the Korean show "Run On" as the main character's motivaton for becoming a subtitle translator as her chosen career path. As she put it "Without subtitles, I never would have understood this wisdom." Seems the wrtiers who wrote that for the actress to say agreed with you that it "should be stolen" '-)
You’ve come a long way! Struggling with combos, in Asylum, and now dominating in Arkham Knight. Batman will always be The GOAT, because he’s one of the few Superheroes that attained his abilities through dedication and hard work. He wasn’t bitten by a spider, or born an alien god. I’m glad you actually understand him, because a lot of people don’t. Great reaction!! 👍
I agree. I prefer DC heroes and villains, but though the likes of Superman and Wonder Woman are uncorruptable and godlike; they are unreachable to us. Bruce Wayne is - to an extent - one of us; yes he has touches of psychopathy and is murkier than the others, but that is human, and he tries to be the best human possible physically and mentally, in order to clean up Gotham. He represents what we can become if we all tried to attain our potential.
Miranda! You hit the nail on the head when you said, "This movie is so real." After watching so many superhero movies with wisecracking superheroes, this movie really stood out, with it serious take on Batman.
It's so unique seeing someone who is familiar with Batman from other media watching this trilogy for the "first" time 16 years later. I love seeing you notice the same details I noticed when I saw it for the first time in theatres. You are going to **love** The Dark Knight. When it comes to Nolan's non-Batman movies, my favourites are The Prestige, Inception, and Memento. Definitely check them out.
Back in the 2000s, they truly did know how to do reboots. Batman Begins and Casino Royale are the prime examples of how to bring something back in a new continuity and with a nice pitch that fits the franchise. Nolan wanted to do a more grounded take and focus more on Bruce as a character, as opposed to just always being on Batman. I remember seeing the trailer for this when going to see Star Wars - Revenge of the Sith in theaters and feeling so hyped that they were making another one. And once I got my chance to see this movie in theaters next, my 11-year-old mind was blown away. Then, in three years later, I witnessed the sequel with my father, which instantly became my 2nd favorite film of all time.
Fun story about Michael Caine: He was friends with composer John Barry, who among many other things is notable for writing the musical scores for all the James Bond movies from Dr. No to The Living Daylights. Michael was in between leases at one point, and stayed at John's flat for six weeks. One night, Michael couldn't get any sleep because John was downstairs working on his piano. He finally went downstairs in the morning and was going to complain, but John said "I've got this tune for the Bond film. What do you think of it?" It turned out to be "Goldfinger", probably the most famous Bond song/theme next to the 007 theme itself, and Michael Caine was the first person in the world to hear it.
@@jimideth Indeed. The Black Hole, Dances With Wolves, Chaplin. The guy was a legend. Should be included more with the greats like Williams, Horner, Zimmer, and Goldsmith.
Nice story, though Monty Norman composed the 007 theme. John Barry was a fabulous composer though, and is just about in that class alongside Bernard Herrmann; Zimmer is fine but not anywhere near that level.
@@shugaroony If you read carefully, you'll note I never said John Barry composed the 007 theme, I only said the Goldfinger song is almost as famous as it. Although, while Norman is in fact credited for its composition, Barry is responsible for the arrangement as we know it. In fact, Barry filed and lost a claim that he was its composer, so there is some dispute over it. I did make one error, however: While Barry arranged the theme for Dr. No, Norman is credited with Dr. No's film score. Barry took over for From Russia With Love. As far as Barry's placement in his status among film composers, that is subjective to the individual's musical taste depending upon how you look at it. To make it more objective, I was thinking mostly of their impact in the film industry. John Barry and John Williams have an equal amount of Oscars for film scores: 5. Yet they are both beat by Alfred Newman with 9 and Alan Menken with 8. Yet I will concede that's not the best measurement, since hardly anyone would cite Newman as their "favorite" and I doubt most people have even heard of Menken. Williams, however, takes the top in nominations with an astounding 50. In terms of musical taste, Barry is actually not my favorite. He's good, but I agree he's more on a Zimmer level (maybe a little below) with Williams and Horner at the top and Goldsmith somewhere in between along with Danny Elfman.
Christopher Nolan’s Batman series should be a blueprint on how to approach superhero movies!!! All the three are awesome but The Dark Knight is an absolute masterpiece.
@@scrptar129Didn't like that film when I first watched it; but it festered away inside me, and each time it was on a movie channel, I'd end up watching and got a bit more out of it; such that now I can see the brilliance in it.
You really nailed it with your "This feels like it really could happen" comment. Nolan's Batman trilogy was primarily focused on making a Batman that could happen in the real world, if someone had enough money and physical endurance and access to technology to *become* Batman. There are no super powers in the entire trilogy, so don't expect Clayface or Poison Ivy.
Seeing you become a Batman fan starting with your Arkham Asylum playthrough on the other channel really helps me relive when I first became a Batman fan, thank you so much Miranda
Unpopular opinion but this movie is my favourite among the 3 Nolan Batman films. 'I never said thank you, and you'll never have to', that's my favourite scene!!!
I love so much how Gordon introduces Joker casually by giving to Batman his card and a brief presentation of him. It is so cool. Gave me goosebumps the first time and still does especially knowing whats coming next...
OMG, 'Are you so desperate to fight criminals you would have yourself locked up and take them on one at a time?" Man what a great start to my favorite scene in ANY Batman film.
This is honestly my favorite Batman movie (not counting The Batman 2022). People may love The Dark Knight more, but we wouldn't have gotten it without this movie. Also, the Tumbler chase scene is *chef's kiss*. 😁
Great reaction but oh, man. I CAN'T wait for you to watch The Dark Knight and see what all the hype is about. It's such an incredible piece of cinema and ramps things up 1000%. Also, off topic, but Interstellar is another Nolan film I can see you loving. It'll probably make you cry throughout it's entirety lol.
Great reaction. Ken Watanabe - Ra's Al Ghul Liam Neeson - Ducard Dunkirk: 3 Oscars Tenet: 1 Oscar If you thought this trilogy entry was spectacular, then you will be blown away by the 2-time Oscar-Winning "The Dark Knight".
😂😂when I was in a lobby playing CoD, Black Ops 2 to be specific, & after our team demolished the other team everyone wanted to run it back so while we waited everyone just chatted, lil bit of trash talk but mostly civil. Out of no where a guy from the other team said he was starting to get frustrated with getting killed only to have his friend hit him with the "Why do we fall Bruce?" line 😂😂😂 instantly the whole lobby started to laugh & several answered with the "So we can learn to pick ourselves back up" line 😂😂😂 one of my favorite video game memories ever 😂😂
(14:41) I think of Liam's wife, Natsha Richardson, who died years later in a freak accident. She was skiing on a bunny hill, fell backward and bumped her head. Complained of headaches hours later and died. I can't help but reflect on her death every time I see this scene.
They met while making the movie "Nell" starring Jodie Foster. Itself an interesting psychological piece about a girl raised in isolation, who speaks a language that nobody else knows.
I will forever love the full orchestra hitting that climactic note when Batman is recognized. That note only plays a few times in the 3 movies. Everytime its an important moment. They use the music as a cue and I absolutely love it. Nolan and Zimmer are a great team.
I love all 3 of these movies. I saw all of them in the theater. To top it off when The Dark Knight Rises came out, they had a triple feature at the theater. It was great.
The League is definitely called the League of Assassins in almost all Batman media. My guess is they changed it to Shadows in this universe because it was the first time they depicted Bruce being a member and getting his training from here, and knowing his no-kill rule that hes always had, there was no way he would even consider joining a group with Assassin in the name.
Automatic thumbs up, Miranda. The older villain gentleman in the business suit who raises a toast to Bruce is none other than the Dutch actor Rutger Hauer, who rose to fame as Roy Batty in the original Blade Runner. As an artificial human, he was assigned a four year life span, and proclaimed his humanity and lost memories as fleeting "tears in the rain." Sadly, he passed away in 2019.
I say Rawzz/Razz....So thrilled and then blown away by this reaction for the insights and perspectives and thoughts! I hadn't thought it through at 12:45 when you mention what would normally be a catalyst is in fact what's often the case that the profound loss of his parents being murdered in front of him doesn't change the fact that they're gone and the void of that and any impetus can't be brought forth to capture the puller of the trigger but the story gives us enough outside motivation to press on and actually bolsters his desire to defeat crime overall, seeing as Joe Chill was simply the trigger man who murdered his parents even when it meant nothing to him, and this new perspective gives him that impetus so that crime doesn't take away meaning from people's lives. The killers of Bruce's parents and the Goblin have this similar effect on the arc and growth of the hero. The emptiness is still there until Bruce becomes Batman. the film arc of him being lost before becoming Batman is one of the best origin stories in the medium. And his first clumsy forays in Batman BEGINS is so cool! 17:30 the woman with a gun who shoots Joe Chill goes, "Falcone says hi..." 19:35 the judge. 21:35 yes, but the bat actors are unionized , so limited box time... 22:50 Liam Neeson called himself Ducard, the ostensible envoy of Ras. BASE jumping is a high risk thrill-seeking "extreme sport" of jumping off high platforms and bases, manmade or natural, in these suits that are like a flying squirrel and you glide in the hair from up high. The long fingers are the veins of the electrified wings, same as how leaves have the stem stalk veins, I don't know the bio/botanical terms... green spinach, maybe spirulina, for health mixed with maybe honey? 39:42 billion dollar question, actually...yes, do Dunkirk, Inception, The Prestige, Memento, with a side quest to see The Matrix Trilogy, and LotR, and Oppenheimer!
FYI: Rachel Dawes was created for this film. Katie Holmes was replaced in The Dark Knight with Maggie Gyllenhaal (I believe Katie had a scheduling conflict).
That's my one flaw for The Dark Knight while Maggie Gyllenhaal is probably the better actress. I don't find her believable to be the center of the film's love triangle.
Really awesome review and very impressed with Her knowledge of the Batman Universe! FYI, the Nolan Brothers and David Goyer based this movie's storyline and inspiration from classics of "Year One" and "The Long Halloween". Can't wait for your reaction to the next movie, "The Dark Knight".
Batman The Animated Series is the absolute peak screen adaptation. Kevin Conroy will always be the one man that brought Batman to life for me. I still hear his voice when every I read a Batman comic.
@38:00 - For anyone who doesn't know yet, here's a cool little Easter Egg: The car that Bruce Wayne is driving is a Lamborghini Murcielago. And the Spanish word for "bat" is... murcielago. N.B. - The car was actually named for a fighting bull, but the aforementioned factoid is still valid.
Chris nolan initially started his pitch for the tumbler as "a lamborghini mixed with a tank", i think he liked the cars and the flagship lambo at the time happened to be named Murcielago, after a bull, who was named "bat" in spanish. It all just worked out so well that it's hard to know which came first aha
Fun Fact: this film was the first time Batman ever "flew" or glided with his cape. Before that he was just a really good gymnast with wires. Considering Batman has been around since 1939. Its insane that Nolan was the first to come up with the idea of incorporating his cape into his suit to fly. The next seperate adaption to follow up with it, after this film, was the Arkham games and its been a staple for Batman ever since.
Cloaks in the old days were a means to conceal the silhouette and gait of a person so as to hide their identity from observers. These were the days before hang-gliders and BASE jumping, so the cape was regarded more as a cloaking device rather than an impromptu parachute.
Hot take: Batman Begins is the best Nolan Batman movie. Later movies still have great casting, performances, music, etc, but I think this movie has the best version of Gotham City in the Nolan movies. They're all very close in quality, but the spooky Gotham in Begins gives it the edge for me over the other ones.
You know, I was about to disagree with you that this movie was the best Nolan Batman movie, but then I read your further explanation below, and I have to agree with you on those points. That said, I think most fans will say the Dark Knight is the best of the trilogy, with good reasons as well. 😊
They're all great, but my personal favorite is TDK. Still I'll gladly watch any one of them all the way thru if I find one on while channel surfing. Nolan is a genius.
A heartfelt thanks from a lifelong Batman fan who's journey started when his big brother took him to see Tim Burton's Batman in the summer of 89'. My twelve year old brain was hooked.
This dark, gritty rendition of Batman that has been prevalent for decades started at the 80s, when it was released in 1986 a comics miniseries called The Dark Knight Returns, written and drawn by Frank Miller. This story alone kinda revived the interest on the character. And if you want a completely different rendition of Batman to understand the directions the character was taken in the years before, I highly recommend watching some episodes of the 1960s Batman TV show. It's hilarious, I think you gonna like it.
Well, the dark Batman started in the 30’s. It was in the 50’s-60’s when the comics code authority kicked in that Batman changed and the TV show is the epitome of that. Then Batman went back to its roots in the 80’s. As much as I love the 60’s Batman 😊
Big time love your enthusiasm for Batman! About to watch your reaction to The Dark Knight! I had such an incredible time watching this reaction. :) You rock, plain and simple.
Oh - not sure if you've watched the third Nolan film yet - but that's the weakest of the bunch. I really wasn't a fan of that one in comparison to most of the other Batman films.
It's so cool and lovable fun to see, someone that is such a fan of this universe, to react to this movie. Love your content so much it's really a bright light in my life right now. It really makes me smile, so really from the bottom of my heart thank you so much for these video's. I originaly found your channel through Hogwarts Legacy, and since you upload your breaking bad video's I saw this channel and I'm so happy to have found it too. Thank you, I can't say it enough. 💛
I agree that Christian Bale was EPIC as Batman. That being said, every time I hear the name Batman, I will always think of Michael Keaton first, but then I grew up with the original Batman movies in the 80s.
@@floridareedsreviews I'm gonna agree & disagree at the same time. Yes, Bale is Epic as Batman... And Keaton was the perfect casting choice for the '89 movie. But for me, THEE Batman will always be Kevin Conroy.
@@whitetallon8784 I'll agree with that in the same way that Heath Ledger was amazing as the Joker, and Jack Nicholson is who I'll always think of, but Mark Hamill is THE Joker.
This trilogy is phenomenal, you're going to love it!! Can't wait to see how you feel about the next two! Also, since you've played the Arkham games now, the animated Batman movie Under the Red Hood will probably be REALLY interesting for you! :)
i can see that you have done your homework and are enjoying the movie on a full scale which makes watching your reaction so much more satisfying thanks i subbed!
It's so mind-blowing that's you've never seen Batman Begins Miranda this is one of my favorite Batman movies and just a great movie in general , but also I'm jealous that you get to experience this movie for the first time lol.
i tried watching it once as a kid but didnt really get into it or even bother to remember it because i didnt like batman at the time! i'm so glad to have changed! batman is the best!
@@TheMirandalorianReacts Batman is definitely the best well one of the best the top three Gs are Superman, Batman and Spider-Man lol, but yeah you are in for a real treat with the next two Christopher Nolan Batman movies and really just Batman movies in general.
Great reaction Miranda! Loved that you paused to give longer commentary so you didn't miss bits from the movie. You will definitely love Inception, Interstellar and Dunkirk. All movies that play with the perception of time and life
The second movie is undoubtedly the "masterpiece" of the trilogy, but none of them are bad. Probably the best cinematic depiction of the spirit of the comics.
The Dark Knight didn't have a Gotham that looked like the Gotham of the first one - it was obviously Chicago - and a pretty terrible story. Heath Ledger singlehandedly raised it up to something watchable. Without him, the horrific Dark Knight Rises probably doesn't happen because The Dark Knight would have bombed.
I'm so glad you watched this. I knew you'd love it. My wife and I saw all of them in the theatre. When you're watching Nolan, keep in mind that he uses practical effects wherever possible, and it shows. If you think it looks like it was really done, it probably was.
Miranda, don't forget the very early Batmans of the screen. The two movie serials serials of 1943 and '49, As well as the TV show and spin-off movie of the '60's. It's fun seeing the difference and the progression of the character up the Robert Paterson.
I hope Miranda will at least _sample_ the 1943 version, to see the very humble beginnings of live-action Batman. And then sample the 1966 version, to see how far it came in terms of sets and costumes. (One of the first shows to really take advantage of those newfangled _color_ TVs.)
@@nitrokidYou don't have to, but watcing a couple of them does no harm. I loved them as a kid and still have a soft spot for the 60's wackiness of it! "some days you just can't get rid of a bomb!!" :D
If you haven't seen it already, you should watch the Batman Animated Series. The voice actor who played Batman, Kevin Conroy, is the Batman I compared to every other actors' portrayal of Batman.
You put the summary about why you enjoy Batman so well together that it actually made me realise why I love Batman so much. I've always felt a deep connection to his struggles, but I couldn't really put my finger on why. Great video, love your vibe. Keep on nerding, fellow nerd! 🤓
They're older and can be pretty corny at times (the later ones especially), but I think you would enjoy the insanity of the 90's (and 89) batman movies. Batman, Batman Returns, Batman Forever and Batman and Robin.
The joyful surprise at seeing Morgan Freeman was delightful. He's actually a friend of my late father's and I've had the pleasure of meeting him. My mom has a picture of the two of them leaning against my dad's truck just chatting away. Mr. Freeman own's a blues nightclub in my hometown of Clarksdale, MS called Ground Zero. His hometown is about 30 min from where I grew up.
Ironically, the fact that Joe Chill was never caught for killing Bruce Wayne's parents condemned him to a lifetime of the paranoid fear of being found out. He was eternally in fear of the richest, most powerful man in the city because of what he had done.
Please consider watching Batman the Animated Series, it has some of the same actors from the Arkham Games and is the best Batman storyline ever. The Gotham tv series is also pretty good
Glad you loved it. Hard to believe this movie is almost 20 years old. The time it came out made it even more impressive because it followed a very campy and absurd Batman and Robin from the 90s which is still considered one of the worst Batman movies. Nolan's Batman was (and maybe still is) the most earnest, sincere, and intelligent take on Batman in film. Something that hadn't been seen at that point. It was also before the MCU and golden age of superhero movies.
“A hero can be anyone - even a man doing something as simple and reassuring as putting a coat around a young boy's shoulders to let him know that the world hadn't ended." - Batman: The Dark Knight Rises
It's crazy because for most of us fans we watched this and the Dark Knight before the Arkham games came out since the Dark Knight came out in 2008, and Arkham Asylum released in 2009 so it's so interesting to see a fan do it in reverse! Can't wait for the Dark Knight it's still highly regarded as one of the best superhero movies of all time! Up there with Infinity War, The Batman 2022, and Joker!
You have to watch the Prestige. Hugh Jackman and Michael Caine again, plus David Bowie as Nikola Tesla, who is a major character. You have to watch Memento too. It’s about a guy who can’t form new memories chasing the man who killed his wife. It goes backwards, so you start each scene with as much info as him, which is none. And the denouement at the end is chronologically the first thing that happens. It’s amazing.
I found your channel from your Mel Brooks reactions, so when I saw Batman begins pop up I was like 🤔. Watched the five minute intro and was like let's go!!!! Then paused and made myself comfy for your awesome reaction.
So the thing about Rachel is one of the few parts of this movie that genuinely annoys me... because originally, she was meant to be Harvey Dent. Harvey and Bruce would've been childhood friends, Harvey would've met with Bruce after his parents died and he was planning on killing Joe himself, and Harvey would've been the one to motivate Bruce to seek a more noble, law-abiding path instead. Which 100% tracks with Harvey's character as the staunch legal-eagle of the most crime-ridden city in the world, not only that but he would've played a formidable part in forging the identity of 'Batman' as a concept in Bruce's mind. Unfortunately the studio wasn't happy with the script and basically demanded they add a love-interest to it, it was too late to write in Catwoman / Talia / anyone else, so they just took all of Harvey's scenes and lines and gave them to 'Rachel Dawes', a new character who is basically just Harvey Dent but female.
The fact that Nolan tied Rachel into his story without too many problems is a testament to his writing. All that was needed to make it better was a better actress which Maggie Gyllenhaal did in the sequel.
Both times a love interest was created especially for the films they failed. Batman Forever's Chase Meridian was a psychologist who fancied Batman and that was all there was to her character. And in this Rachel dumps Bruce for being different to how he was 7 years ago.
@@JBiggs54442 I actually think Katie Holmes is a great actress. And she’s cute as a button too. What I mean is, she’s very likable and approachable. Maggie Gyllenhaal is not. I don’t much like her vibe, it feels sort of superior. But that’ just me.
Not sure what sort of reputation the Gotham TV show has amongst pop culture fans, but I loved it. They did an excellent job (in my opinion) of giving a version of origin for Bruce/Batman and most of his rogues gallery (his list of enemies and villians). Their versions of the Riddler and Penguin are by far my favorite depictions of those two in film. An important thing to remember about Ra's al Ghul, he is ancient. He may or may not be the originator of the League of Shadows, but what he certainly is the man who has been head of the league for several generations. The Green Arrow also has a lot of interactions with Ra's and the League, and in Arrow's show they did a good job of explaining and expounding on the roots of the League itself but also how Ra's keeps himself ... "young". Arrow's relation ship with Ra's is (at least in the show) made to be very similar to Batman's relationship. Ra's is always presumably looking for an heir, refusing to ... believe? admit? that his daughter Talia could truly be his heir. Instead often trying to marry her off to someone he considers a worthy successor such as Batman or Green Arrow. At the same time however, possibly as a side affect of the process which keeps him "young", Ra's half the time seems to be just as intent upon destroying that potential successor. Almost like he's testing them, and willing to kill them if they fail. Never mistake though, Ra's Al Ghul is no altruist. The version we get in the movie here is seemingly looking to help the world, but in truth he just wants to eliminate what he sees as elements that are in the way of his version of progress. It just so happens that the specific elements he's targeting here, the criminal one, is something we would generally want to eliminate as well. Add to that mix "ends justifies the means" and viola! But his true baseline goal is always domination and control of the world at large, from the shadows. Hence League of Shadows. As to the idea that Batman and his villains are all just "normal people" and not super powered, that's debatable. I would argue that for both Bruce and for his cast of villains and even his cast of sidekicks, the events and trauma of their lives have pushed their bodies and their phyches, to a breaking point of sorts often with the added impetus of some sort of chemicals like with the traditional story of the Joker and his vat of Acme chemicals or a technological based accident like with Victor Freeze and his experiments. The end result being these people have a combination of physical ability above the norm and often the mental capacity (whether for good or bad/crazy) to match. It's important to keep in mind that this is still super heroes we're dealing with here, but approached from a very different path than the heroes many may be more familiar with from the MCU. It's no more "realistic" just ... different. [edit] Oh, and like you I've always pronounced it Raesh Al Ghoul (pronounced not spelt of course) - and yea, Rachael was only created for the purposes of the movie.
Nolan took inspiration for the Batman movies from actual comic stiries. This one: Batman Year One and the Long Halloween. The 3rd one: The Knight fall series, and No Man's Land series as well as other stories. Detective Flass and Commissioner Loeb were character s straight from Batman Year One by the legendary Frank Miller..
I think you’ll love all of Christopher Nolan’s Batman films, but The Dark Knight will be your favorite. Calling it now! 😁 I so look forward to seeing your reaction.
Miranda, as a lifelong Batman fan, I am so overjoyed that you are watching these films. The second film is masterpiece, the jewel in the crown. It came out on my birthday. I went to a late night show. I was moved to tears that I stood up and started clapping. Then the entire theater followed me and gave the film a standing ovation. It's still my best and most memorable birthday.
This is both my favorite superhero movie and the movie that made me a Batman fan. I'm really glad you loved it. Thanks! Can't wait to see you watch the next ones.
Such a pleasure watching this with you Miranda :) I am sure you're gonna love, love, love, love the second. Really looking forward to seeing your reaction to that.
I remember being 15 years old and going to the movies watching this and just smiling so much cause they finally got him right ☺️☺️ and happy to see the rest of the trilogy just being amazing! And the Batman is another fantastic film! Definitely a must for bat fans. So happy u found as much joy as I did watching this movie. Maybe my favorite of the trilogy

gentle reminder that these videos are edited the way they are because of copyright! we can only show up to 5ish seconds of a clip at a time! otherwise, there would be no movie reactions on youtube at all for you to watch! my editor emphasizes my reaction to the movie because that is the point of a reaction/commentary video! the only way to watch the full movie without some random on the internet like myself commenting on it is to watch it on your own or surrounded by friends and family!
Miranda, wow you are stunning! 😍
DC also has really good animated movies and there are many Batman ones that are so good.
Batman: Mask of the Phantasm
Batman: Under The Red Hood
Batman: The Killing Joke
Batman: The Dark Knight Return (1 & 2)
Batman: Hush
Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker (I'd put this aside probably.. the Batman Beyond series follows a new Batman because Bruce is too old to continue - the show is great though)
These are some of my favorites. Dark Knight Returns and Under The Red Hood are my all time favs.
"I never said thank you." "And you'll never have to." The entire Batman-Gordon relationship summed up perfectly in ten words.

And also imagine the Joker heath was in Batman Begins and not the in Dark knight and with that insane heath ledger performance was on it aswell is it will be Batman Begins is better than the Dark knight and in Dark knight the Joker was not in it but a different main villain 🤔😏

The thing about Nolan's Batman movies which i think is what sets it apart from every other comic book movie is its basically a what if Batman existed in our world, so no super powered people exist, its just him vs real life villains.
As im sure a lot of comments have already mentioned but its worth saying again that the Batman: The Animated Series is a must watch for any fan or would be fan, its also the same voices from the games you played.
animated batman has best voice cast
@16:55 Joe Chill is the man that pulls the trigger on Bruce’s parents in the comics. I love that they included him in this movie as usually in the movies, they typically leave him out and never dive in too deep on who killed the Wayne’s.

" Batman: "And you'll never have to..."

Christopher Nolan made magic with this trilogy
they're all eminently quotable, but the second and third one in particular 😄
@@asada4L nolans obsession with grounding every little piece of the film in reality does hurt it in the long run but it's hard to disagree that these are some pretty damn good movies
Yeah he sure did, but imo the best one was The Dark Knight from 2008
First was great, then the quality went down...Dark Knight was good overall but Heath was a horrible Joker, he should have been Anarky cause that's who he was playing. The third movie was really rough with plot holes and lore breaks all over the place.
I mean, the 2nd one is obviously really good, but the others are meh
Having the Scarecrow gas flood the Narrows where all the criminals are, as Batman flies overhead is actually really cool, because that'll just build the Mythos of Batman from now until forever.
All the criminals will now remember "The Batman" as a flying bat demon with glowing eyes.
You can see something of that in the animated movie Gotham Knight based on this movie
The casting in this movie is amazing Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Liam Neeson, Morgan Freeman. This origin story is my favorite even if it’s different from the comics.
they couldn't have found anyone better for most of these roles! especially Gordon!
@@TheMirandalorianReacts Can You React “Suicide Squad”
The origin story isn't too different from the comics though? Sure, there are new elements introduced and maybe some timeline altered here and there to fit the storyline but the recipe is essentially the same: parents killed, found League of Shadow, quit League of Shadow, found Batcave, make Batsuit and gadgets, kicks ass 😂
Don't forget my boy Cillian Murphy.
and a certain young man who becomes a particularly nasty king of westeros... 😄
"Why do we fall, Bruce? So we can learn to pick ourselves up."
That line was used in the Korean show "Run On" as the main character's motivaton for becoming a subtitle translator as her chosen career path. As she put it "Without subtitles, I never would have understood this wisdom."
Seems the wrtiers who wrote that for the actress to say agreed with you that it "should be stolen" '-)
And the ability to have custom technology made to make fighting easier. #PriceIsNotAConcern

"I'm rich." --Batfleck
He also did the music for The Black Hole which was awesome

What about Newsies? You’ll never look at Batman the same way again 😂.

It's a reason why Liam Neeson is in _so many_ movies... he buries himself in work because hates coming back to an empty home.
He also played Morgan Edge in a couple episodes of Smallville.
I first saw him in the Hallmark Merlin mini-series in the 90s.
I think she was pregnant and that's the reason why she couldn't do the The Dark Knight
@@renovandermade2051 I guess that would count as a scheduling conflict.
I think it was a scientology reason, Tom Cruise didn't want Katie to return for the sequel.
That's my one flaw for The Dark Knight while Maggie Gyllenhaal is probably the better actress. I don't find her believable to be the center of the film's love triangle.
She was having a baby?

Definitely and The Dark knight Returns part 1 and 2.
'Didn't you get the memo?' Mr. Lucius Fox.
Chris nolan initially started his pitch for the tumbler as "a lamborghini mixed with a tank",
i think he liked the cars and the flagship lambo at the time happened to be named Murcielago, after a bull,
who was named "bat" in spanish. It all just worked out so well that it's hard to know which came first aha
And the opera the Waynes watch at the beginning is Die Fledermaus, a real opera by Johann Strauss. "Die Fledermaus" is German for "the bat".
Especially considering bats have wings, you'd think that using the cape for gliding would be obvious.
Cloaks in the old days were a means to conceal the silhouette and gait of a person so as to hide their identity from observers. These were the days before hang-gliders and BASE jumping, so the cape was regarded more as a cloaking device rather than an impromptu parachute.
Batman Returns disagrees lol
Hot take: Batman Begins is the best Nolan Batman movie. Later movies still have great casting, performances, music, etc, but I think this movie has the best version of Gotham City in the Nolan movies. They're all very close in quality, but the spooky Gotham in Begins gives it the edge for me over the other ones.
You know, I was about to disagree with you that this movie was the best Nolan Batman movie, but then I read your further explanation below, and I have to agree with you on those points. That said, I think most fans will say the Dark Knight is the best of the trilogy, with good reasons as well. 😊
This is correct. I think it’s the best Batman movie in the trilogy despite not being the best film in the trilogy, if that makes sense.
Everyone says that now. Actual hot take: Rises is the best (well my favourite if not technically the best).
Begins was always the best for me, my favorite of the trilogy.

Ironically, the fact that Joe Chill was never caught for killing Bruce Wayne's parents condemned him to a lifetime of the paranoid fear of being found out. He was eternally in fear of the richest, most powerful man in the city because of what he had done.
Gary Oldman, who played one of the greatest vampire roles in cinema, being cast as Gordon, was perfect.
Please consider watching Batman the Animated Series, it has some of the same actors from the Arkham Games and is the best Batman storyline ever. The Gotham tv series is also pretty good
Yeah I really love the Gotham TV Series, It's underrated IMO
Some of you people truly suck. Good lord.
A absolutely love the prestige. and good call on memento but... maybe next time don't say so much xD
An extraordinary film! Could not have been any better. Deserves all your praise, all your commentary. Loved your reaction, start to finish.
I so look forward to seeing you look at the 89 Batman. Best live-action Joker ever
@@ADifferentVibeHeh, it’s funny. I always preferred this actress to Gyllenhaal. I really dislike when series recast.
Yeah the Dawson's Creek kids just never ascended to the big screen imho.
It's no more "realistic" just ... different.
[edit] Oh, and like you I've always pronounced it Raesh Al Ghoul (pronounced not spelt of course) - and yea, Rachael was only created for the purposes of the movie.
she was named after the two different pronunciations: Rachel (for Rashe) and Dawes (for Raz)
PAY MORE ATTENTION!!!!
I love watching people realize they love things.
Yeahp... Found you, Miss. And, I'm here to stay. Loved loved loved your reaction. Looking forward to more. 🖤🥃
This is both my favorite superhero movie and the movie that made me a Batman fan. I'm really glad you loved it. Thanks! Can't wait to see you watch the next ones.
Dark Knight: “If you liked this one, then you’re gonna love me”
Such a pleasure watching this with you Miranda :) I am sure you're gonna love, love, love, love the second. Really looking forward to seeing your reaction to that.

And the Batman is another fantastic film! Definitely a must for bat fans. So happy u found as much joy as I did watching this movie. Maybe my favorite of the trilogy
“Get rid of one threat and another appears. I'm starting to think this city's in love with crisis. Hope you're ready for it, my friend.”
~ *Varric,* Dragon Age 2
Fits perfectly for Gotham
Was just watching this and Dark Knight again, the last few days! Great timing Miranda! I got emotional like you did as Arkham Knight started, at the bit here the first time we see Batman looking over Gotham, fantastic!
This is a good one, but Dark Knight is a masterpiece.
Every gives “The Dark Knight” the best accolades and deservedly so… but this one “Batman Begins” is my favorite.
Life long Batman fan, really enjoyed your reaction!
Oh, you're in for a treat with these! and I am here for the journey! looking forward to the Dark Knight movies, and Inception, and the prestige... well. enjoy!
You're in for a ride with a sequel, The Dark Knight to be exact. That movie made me a Batman fan, just SO GOOD
You gotta watch all of Nolan's films!! They are all so good but Tenet and Interstellar are my favourite besides Dark Knight but you've already watched it 😄
Harry Brown (2009) with Michael Caine - Damn fine performance
