I gotta say it again, even the Samson is superior to the Mv7. Mainly without the processing. I dont like that the Samson picks up so much background noise, but the Mv7 is just too dang shrill and high pitched. For decades my bands have always used Shure, but the Mv7 would probably be my 3rd or 4th choice for streaming. That's something I need to do very soon too. My Shure i was using for streaming fell into an open can of paint!
From personal g track experience, something that adds to it by a metric ton would be installing the nvidia broadcast app to turn on noise cancellation and then download voicemeeter and using the nvidia broadcast option. Noise cancellation with real time processing for the samson g track does wonders!
Also I feel like his settings had something to do with this, even in the "non-processed" sample it looks like he still had the LPF and presence boost on as well as potentially a brighter setting, because he kept the MOTIV processing on. So he's rolling off his bass and adding a little of his own high-mids which could accentuate that difference.
That’s how I was running it for the first few days of owning the G track pro. That’s when I found out how to use the OBS filtered sound in real time and it uses voice meter but you.m can cut out nvidia broadcast completely (after enough testing, I can’t stand how butchered the audio quality gets so unless you absolutely have to, don’t use it!) OBS filters in your real time are so damn good
@@LukasBlau ik its been 3 years but ive been looking for mics my voice is below 50hz but its also like soft and warm and do higher roll off and brighter mics sound better with deep voices or how does it work? im still confused
Ironically I purchased the Samson first and just impulse bought the MV7 and I'm here trying to give myself confirmation bias for my new purchase lol. This video makes me feel like I did make the right choice because my single biggest issue with my Samson is the ridiculous amount of noise it picks up. It picks up every little room noise, I can't run AC or the smallest fan anywhere in my RV (sucks in Florida summer), and I end up having to be so close to it to get a good noise to recording ratio that I've got mouth and breathing sounds everywhere. Then I end up having to do so much processing that it's crushing my frequencies and I end up with quality loss. Hoping the MV7 is a more consistent and easy solution for my situation, and I'll hang on to the Samson for a time when I might be able to get into a room that's more forgiving.
I was wondering how it would be in a RV situation, Im planning on full timing one of those things and wanted to stream with the samson mic but this helped me think twice before jumping into it, thank you for your information
The Samson sound a lot better to me it sound warmer does not seem to pick up room noise for a condenser as you were saying but it a condenser mic there supposed to pick up noise its a recording mic good for musicians not sure why you would even compare them. Shure sound cheap and thin to me I would just use the MS58 instead save the money.
Agreed - I've just ordered myself the Samson. I sing and play guitar and am looking forward to recording with this instead of my phone. :P He's not a musician - you heard him say that maybe 1% of people would use the line in, 2 track recording feature (and he never has). He's obviously wrong about the 1%, as the musical interface feature is what a lot of people are going to buy this mic for.. and also the fact it has a a clear and a lot fuller, warmer sound. Same when you compare it side by side to a Blue Yeti. ;)
this could be re-titled as "dynamic vs condenser microphones." a lot of people want a condenser cause well, it looks cool but they don't understand the cons of it. if you're just going to game with it, better use a dynamic microphone like the Shure or Samson's q2u. No point getting a condenser microphone when you'll hear is every click and thump of your (teammate's) keyboard and desk when playing despite the "clearer and better sounding" mic. If it's just for coms, take the one that's less sensitive to external noise and more "mid" centric on the EQ for better voice recognition. The last thing you want is a teammate's clicky keyboard masking enemy footsteps.
My personal opinion. If you have room noise, just put a noise gate before your recording, I use Presonus Studio One, in the input channel. My personal noise gate vst-plugin is hands down the Lawo noise gate by Audiowerk. I know it is ancient and unfortunately it is only a 32bit but for me it is simply the best and it is very, very easy to use. I actually wish the company, Audiowerk, could revisit their Lawo Plug-in Collection and update them altogether.
I've owned both of these microphones and if you trying to decide between these two I would pick neither of them let me explain, The G track pro sounded ok but it felt super cheaply made and a year after I got it, It broke the built in pop filter or whatever just started falling off both sides and than it did fall off it and the mic got detached from its stand and on top of that 10 to 5 minutes it will make helicopter noises so I have to unplug it and plug it back in. Now onto the Mv7 first off this mic is much better, doesn't feel cheaply made, And Sounds better (in my opinion) the only reason I wouldn't recommend the Mv7 is because you can the The Rode Procaster this mic sounds alot better And if you buy the Procaster with a Presonus Audiobox Go and a 10 dollar xlr cable off amazon you can get this mic for just only 40 dollars more than the Mv7 (assuming your using the usb port for the Mv7) So to conclude if you were going to buy the Mv7 I would suggest to buy the Procaster, But if your looking for a cheap dynamic microphone Than I guess go with the G track Pro but I would suggest Audio-Technica AT2020USB while the at2020 usb isn't a dynamic microphone it still sounds good and rejects a decent amount of distant noises.
Good suggestions I'd like to own a Rhode Podcaster some day. Only had nt1 nt1a from Rhode and video mics for on location shoots. Your on point with all you said. That said I do enjoy the mv7 a lot even more than my sm7b as game audio is better do to software and I like it's more mid sounds.
Thank you for the video. But would it be too much to ask for your filter settings in OBS for the G Track Pro?
I gotta say it again, even the Samson is superior to the Mv7. Mainly without the processing. It sound completely different in my studio via usb I think it’s because of its voice it’s pretty “harsh” mine is very deep and soft ..

Andrew, What audio interface do you use for your podcast?

Exactly bro..Thanks for this comment
May be he is not a musician.. so giving the review for non musicians
Bu your comment backed my opinions
I thought I was the only one thinking this :)

Lovely review, thank you 😍
Why is the G Track Pro mic better then this mic ? What makes the GTrack Pro Mic better then the G Track Mic ?
Hi, Thanks for this review. Can you recommend me pls, what is better only for vocal - Samson G-Track Pro or Rode NT USB ? THanks :)
G -Track is so clear it's crazy you better have foam tiles for sound proofing for sure!!!!
Just use RTX noise cancelling :)
not even close, it seems like the Samson is way better
So pretty much the MV7 has the upper hand if you add some EQ to it?
Yep
what eq ?
this could be re-titled as "dynamic vs condenser microphones."

So for gaming is better the Shure? Hbu streaming ?
Gtrack is HANDS DOWN BETTER- just don't have room noise-
Hows thr latency on G track pro?
Interesting Fact: Samsung, owns Harmon, which owns Sure...
it's SAMSON. Lol.
@@floridamangaming9547 My bad...

Boy am I not impressed at all by the MV7
