I'm a 77 year old beginner with the need to do simple instructional videos. Quite frankly, for the past year I had been researching "how to" videos and getting inundated with hundreds of conflicting opinions about cameras, lights, microphones, etc. My head was spinning. Then I found your videos showing just how relatively simple and inexpensive a setup for doing quality videos can be. Your logical and simple approach has given me the information (and courage) to get started, and for that I thank you.
Could not agree more, Caleb's concise and straightforward videos are awesome
Who needs to spend $130 on a Christmas tree when you could spend $130 on this tree ✨

Caleb! Glad to see a follow-up to the desk studio! I've been using some of the gear you suggested in the previous video without needing any tools. Pretty great what is possible with a little bit of creativity and some decent hardware!
I just received the rolling stand version. I couldn’t do the original all in one stand you have on another video but with some sales going on this was a great more affordable option for me. Used it yesterday for the first time and I loved it. Thanks for your great videos.
Caleb, I love your DIY setup videos. They're very well researched, and thoughtfully designed and executed. Too many UA-camrs toss up a bunch of fluff just to have regular content, but I find your videos useful and unique. Thank you for the work you put in.
That looks like what I'd like to build, but on a pole that goes down to the floor and onto a wheely base like those on office chairs.
Viozen actually makes a model of this with wheels. @@reagantrose thanks for the tip!
Building one of them now based off his earlier video.
Caleb has a video on exactly that ua-cam.com/video/FilRCidYDcw/v-deo.html
@@danielakerman8241 yes sir that is the video I have been referencing. Of course very similar but mine is definitely a little more budget friendly. Wish I had his budget. Ha. His video was inspiring.
I am so happy to have found your channel. You explain things so thoroughly yet concisely. You show options that are suitable for folks like me who aren't gonna be throwing mad cash down for full studio setups. Thank you so much!
@DSLR Video Shooter @Caleb your videos are just AMAZING, I was blown away by your ingenious use of the Rode Go Mic II video, this one just takes it up another notch as well with the additional accessories you added. Thanks so much for producing these videos!
This is exactly what I have been looking for! Thank you
Would a 50mm Lens work with this set up, or would the camera be too close?
50mm is a fast lens so it should work well,
50mm would be too zoomed in for your needs. You can get by with a 24mm or 16mm like Caleb was using
@@3ALEGIONS I don't think you understand lenses. 50mm has nothing to do with fast or slow lens, it is the focal length or "zoom". For example you could have 50mm f5.6 on a cheap kit lens which is not fast. You could also have a 50mm f1.4 prime lens that would be considered fast due to the f1.4.
@@bens1058 Perfect Explanation!
I've used a 50mm on a full frame camera and it was pretty good, but maybe a bit too close. I also have a 28-300 lens that I now use closer to the 28mm end. Your best bet is if you already have a 50mm, just try it and see how it works in your setup.
Bwoah, that's dope!
I'm going to try to mount the RODEcaster Pro on the laptop mount somehow when mine arrives. My desk space is at a premium so it would be nice to elevate that a bit.
I've ordered a Rode VideoMic NTG for mine.
Do you use a preamp or amp attached to the end of your micro or have you treated your room?
i like rode
@@RichardLai I second this. Is the video audio using just the Rode Videomicro?
This is awesome. I built the other version (without the light). I am a teacher and love how much this frees up the desk space. I’m adding arms! Also the cable management is banging.
Caleb, you are the man and I'm glad I found your UA-cam channel. I just finished with this setup with the exception of the monitor. I ordered the wrong vesa adapter and the correct one will be here tomorrow. This set is exactly what I was looking for and has made my desk so much better and my vlogging setup rocks now.
I wasn't expecting the ring light and the mic arm in the kit.
is there any reason you took down your desk studio setup video? I thought it was super helpful
I saw the notification. Got excited. Clicked on it. Watched 3 minutes of it and suddenly UA-cam told me it was no longer available. I will be building out my own video recording "battle station" soon and I would love to see that full video as a guide. And yes, I would be happy to click on any of @DSLR Video Shooter affiliate links associated with that video.

What would be the pros and cons of this new setup against the previous one?
#MR_DESI_ATTITUDE
How does this compare to your self designed one? I feel like yours seemed more flexible, but it’s hard to tell.
I literally just had all the items from the last video in my cart😆 glad you posted this first’ although I can’t seem to find the kit with the 4 arms and I’m afraid it might be because I’m in Canada
I've bought most of the parts to build your one desk setup from your other video, and now you give me more options. I like how the camera and light arms on your DIY version move at right angles. Seems like this will work well to place the gear in between and around my two monitors. Can you change the arms on the Viozon to be at right angles, or are they fixed at the angles shown in your video?
Hi Caleb, the Viozon is "unavailable". Can you recommend (and supply an affiliate link) for an alternative? Thanks. Great stuff. I always learn a ton from your videos man.
it's back in stock
@@Peter-cs5ou Amazon has it "Currently unavailable" here amzn.to/2K1n961. Do you have any other link??? Let me know please.

Agreed, I also cannot find it (or the rolling stand).
Just checked and it's out of stock. I've added it to my list (hopefully will get an alert) but does anyone know of any other sources this can be picked up? Thank you.

Just wanted to say how much I appreciate your video desktop setup's. I'm in the middle of building one. These videos have been a life saver and allow for soo much creativity. I'm torn between using the deskmount or a rollaway. but this one you did is soo awesome. I'd like to have 3 camera views. One on each side and one straight down.

I already have the other setup he suggests but this is too good not to grab. Super disappointing that it's sold out.
Was bummed
no idea when it will be back in stock again so super great video but not any use.
Plus no available in the uk.
Luckily I saw this right when it was posted. Amazon was out of stock, but at the time said "restock expected Nov 11th". I bought it figuring there was a 50/50 chance on whether it would ever show up, since it never went back 'in stock'. It sat as purchased but not shipped for over two weeks, so my hopes weren't high, but then suddenly it started moving and I received it yesterday. My advice to anyone looking for this item would be to continue checking Amazon. It is also available through Walmart (currently out of stock also, but you can sign up for restock notifications). I can confirm it is 100% worth the purchase, this thing is incredibly handy. Most likely why it is out of stock everywhere at the moment.
@@TacticalCactusMedia Thanks for update. Its not in UK so for me no good.
But I have moved on to better things and really excited about them.

I saw these on my Amazon recommended a little bit ago and I was thinking... well day, they must have seen Calebs one light stand setup! Glad you took a look at it to see what you could do with it!
Looks nice, I am glad someone finally showed off how to use a ring light more as a kicker or fill light, I was so happy when I made the switch to go and get a larger key light and moved my ring light to the back so I could have better control over my shadows and bkg.
ring lights purpose is to put the freaking lens in to the hole :) thats literally its only purpose.. thus it eliminates all shadows. its amazing how no one seems to know this in the youtube world while everyone is purchasing them.
It's like they watched your old UA-cam desk video and made an all-in-one solution!

Just a heads up guys, the company updated the product after seeing this video and the new version is about ~$20 more expensive but also swaps out the ring light to a more conventional, round diffused light that I found works pretty well.
Please post the link to this new version.

Went "Unavailable" after this video. I got one of these a short bit ago to also do a video on. I have a feeling when it reappears the price will be MUCH higher than $130 now that they know a high profile video is out about it. I am going to hold off on my video until i see if they do the right thing and keep the price what it was or the shady thing and increase the price.
I have the rode micro and I'm surprised how good your audio quality is. Great tutorial by the way - thank you.
Great video. I appreciate the suggested budget friendly setups and equipment.
comment section! Can someone tell me what mic he uses - always so crisp!
Video mic pro by Rode..
Thats the video micro, not the pro.
I dont think he is using the mike that is on the stand for the video. I do however highly recommend the Micro!
He uses the Deity S3 Mic Pro
Just a little FYI for you. It's not the mic that's crisp, but the mic pre amps and amps that make it sound crisp
This is awesome but it's no longer available. Any suggestions on next best options?
