"After formatting the partition appears a message saying: Windows can not be installed on this disk. The selected disk is in the gpt partition style.
What is going on?" *Click Read More*
After I did some digging, I found an youtube guide that has helped me.
Step 1: go back into Mac OS and open up Disk Utility.
Step 2: Click (what used to be the Bootcamp OS ) and click Erase on the top. For the Format, CLICK "ExFAT", not MS-DOS.
Step 3: Restart your mac and hold Alt as necessary.
Step 4: THIS TIME::: Select "EFI Boot" instead of Windows. It should be the last option.
Step 5: Follow the default instructions accordingly, and (format it into NTFS via the Format button on windows mode)
Step 6: the "Next" option should now be unlocked. Happy Bootcamping bois.

Fantastic tutorial. HEADS UP for Mid 2011 iMac DVD users - you will need a Dual-Layer DVD 8.5GB. The 4.75GB DVDs won't be enough space for the 6+GB iso file.

I just did this following these specific instructions and am currently running Windows 10 on my mid 2001 iMac. This video helped when the instructions online didn’t. I also had to install windows 8.1 first and then upgrade to Windows 10 due to the 4.7gb size restriction of the DVD-R. Also my Apple BT keyboard didn’t not work at first and after numerous attempts at reinstalling boot camp drivers realized it was a BT issue

    • @mostertrucks
      @mostertrucks 4 роки тому +1

All you need to do is get a smaller size version of windows to put onto a 4.7 gb cd, and then you can update it later. I used parallels for Mac to simulate a windows computer and then used the program Rufus to download a smaller size iso, like windows 10 version 1709, which fits on a 4.7 gb cd

I did it fallowing this video and I'd used a flash drive instead of DVD all I did was made the flash drive in a windows computer using windows utility program from their website. The only other thing I had to do differently was to run the Bootcamp drivers in compatibility mode with Windows 7.

A couple notes from installing on my Mac Pro (late 2013), I borrowed an official Win10 install disc from a friend, and used my own Key that I got, as per your recommendation. I also don’t have a built in dvd drive, so my external LG dvd drive worked just fine. New life to my old computer!

Best one for macpro 3,1 as my earlier efforts with other videos using USB didnt work (couldn't boot from the boot menu....kept getting stuck). The windows drivers worked from the outset even without the bootcamp drivers. Wasn't able to update the graphics card drivers as demonstrated here. Its still the ATI xx00 series but everything seems to be working fine except the bluetooth connection to apple wireless keyboard and trackpad. I updated the display driver as it had the generic one to start with.

hi, I installed windows but I have a problem with the drivers. Even if i run the bootcamp setup manually, I don't have any driver installed. It completes the drivers installation, reboots and nothing has happened. I tried many times to run the setup again to repair errors but still nothing. I don't know what to do. need help

This one has been recorded with a proper microphone! Also I have updated the information based on comments from people on the old video. Other than that it's the same method.

I followed all the steps shown but I receive a blank screen on bootcamp with the words “Install this windows support software after installing windows” yet there is nothing beneath it. When I close bootcamp and begin to restart it doesn’t give me the option for the DVD with windows installed in it. I am running a mid 2007 iMac (old I know) is there any way to fix this?

thanks for the vid. i got win 10 installed on my MacPro 3,1 (fr ISO burned to DVD) but could not load bootcamp files after windows. on reboot or startup, I could pressing opt does not show boot options, now it would only load into windows.
I cleared NVRAM and now it does not boot to anything (neither WIN or OSX) at all. I have tried to research but have not been able to come up with anything. Can you offer any help?

i chose to do this with windows 8.1 instead of 10 due to the disks i have being 1 gigabyte too small to have win10 burned onto it. i do everything correctly and when it comes to selecting the BOOTCAMP drive partition during installation i get the error saying "windows cannot be installed to this disk. the selected disk is of the GBT partition style. windows cannot be installed to this hard disk space. windows must be installed to a partition formatted as NTFS." any idea what this means or what i can do to fix it? it still shows up even after formatting it.
edit; nevermind im so stupid and didnt see the pinned comment. it works now lol. thanks for the tutorial

Help my Mac has now been stuck in this screen for 2 years. I’m afraid my Facebook friends can’t contact me because I’m only logged in on my mac. What if they try to contact me? I have now sat and kept looking at the screen for almost 2 years. What if something went wrong? How do i know if somethings not right. I may have to message apple with a complaint of slow downloading.

Hiya, I followed this and was able to install W10, but it keeps crashing. Additionally, when it did load the first time, it wouldn't let me go into the BC control panel nor did the audio have additional speaker so to choose from. Any ideas?
