There is something about life that has shifted, beyond fashions and styles. Something is gone that used to be there. These type of songs make me feel it very sharply. I am sad for my Children's generation. The 20 somethings. They are having such a hard time of it. They cant meet anyone. Not like we used to meet and trust people.
That last long note with that perfect vibrato all the way is something you'll never hear again in such beautiful way by other singers... He was so much talented ❤🙏🙏🙏
I hear my kids tell to watch all these sings shows like, The Voice, America Got Talent, Britian Got Talent, etc. Then you Watch and Listen to this man, and realize who really has Talent. End of Story!
Considering the Era, smoking was the thing to do and most crooner's like Sinatra, Bennett, etc did it. Then Drugs became the"In thing", as both Prince and Michael Jackson can attest to.
Peter Racippo smoking wasn't the 'in thing'. It was just what people did. You can't liken it to drug use nowadays. Both my parents were heavy smokers, along with everyone else. Those were the mistakes of the 60s and 70s like lead paint and no seat belts.
As the man once said : " Folks you can wait around & hope, but you'll not hear the likes of this, again. " ----------------So sad, & so true. -------------------------------WolfSky9, 72 y/o
Can I just say it ?? I'm in tears. I so, so remember watching this man do this song & while sitting in my Dad's rocker recliner, I was again, in tears. The amazing thing to me : My Dad--a man who almost never did, was also in tears. Dean could do that to me, almost anytime he really decided to sing a sad love song. he did it like no one else I've ever heard. Where oh where, have the years gone ??? Miss you Dad. Wolfsky9, 68 y/o
My Dad loved dean Martin's show as well. He & I would sit & watch & laugh till we had tears running down our face. I miss my Dad & I miss Dean Martin. May they both RIP!!
Dean Martin comes from an era when there were what was known as 'ORIGINAL SINGERS'. From the first note one knows instantly who is singing. I love this kind of music and never get tired of hearing it. Dean was truly 'one of a kind'. RIP❤❤❤
Take a close look at his expressions! Every wrinkle of his face, speaks! Oh my God, he was the best! Some people say "none is irreplaceable".. Men like him are unfortunately IRREPLACEABLE! But he will live FOREVER in our memories! Love you, Dean...Keep singing wherever you are..
One of the finest vocalists in show business history. His tone here is rich and tender, soft and strong. A master of the notes, Dino was literally "one of the very best".
Dean Martin and Elvis were two of my all time favourite singers; they were both very good looking. It is sad that the world is deprived of their talents. Elvis good looks and voice will never be duplicated and so is Dean. I have a whole bunch of records of both singers and will forever cherish them. May you guys continue to entertain the heavens with your voices.
In the years he did The Dean Martin Show, it's safe to say there were only a handful of times --like this --when Dean sang from his heart, & it was always a song about losing love. Absolutely no one --I mean, no one --ever did this like Dean did, & it never fails to hit me right in my heart of hearts. Miss you Mr. Dean Martin. Wolfsky9
Everyone has a time, and I'm so glad to have lived in a time that such music was the norm. The next generation are welcome to what they consider the norm, as I have no interest and why would I, as I won't be around forever. I do believe technology vwill at some stage be able to recreate all these wonderful artists live and that I would like to see. Anyways as I say, we all have our time, so enjoy the moment and don't worry about the future as it's not ours to decide what it should be. Thanks to UA-cam for enabling us all to re experience times in our life through the medium of music.
Dean always left a smile on my face and in my heart anytime he sang, no matter what it was, Such warm, fond memories of him, while I was growing up, God bless you Dean.
Dean Martin is my childhood, growing up in a home where his music was played all the time. So fond memories, and yes he is a true legend as someone else commented up on
He's such a great perfumer, and one of very few who could take a song and make it there own. He's like Elvis, they could sing anything and get away with it. What a master!
You deserve all the praise and applause forever, dear Dean Martin. I am always captivated by your warm baritone voice. This beautiful song would have also sounded great in Elvis Presley's voice. Both Dean and Elvis were baritones.
Some called him lazy with his vocal...but when you hear him lay this tune down...with his phrasing...his style...he makes you believe the song. That's an artist.
Magic the best ever all of them. But they all loved ,and adored one man even more . The great sachmo, the great Mr Armstrong . He played with them all , and you never forget a show any one of them made with the great man.
Mr. Martin, you were just magnificent on this one, & I so remember watching this with my Dad. One of the very few times you really sang from the heart. ---I was in tears. -----------Wolfsky9, 70 y/o
I actually remember this. His show was always so much fun. And here was this sad song ,right in the middle of the laughs. And even as a kid, I was moved.
Sitting around a camp-fire with Dean Martin, John Wayne and Walter Brennan would have been something to remember forever. Dino was pure talent. "My rifle, pony and me" is a Classic. But ol' Dino almost steals this song clean away from Glen Campbell.
A man's song, sung by a man's man--as only he could do it. You were the best, Mr. Dean Martin --& I'm in tears, every time I see this video, because I so remember watching this on your show. One of a handful of times you really sang from the heart. Wolfsky9
I heard from people's comments that his daughter's book was very moving. I just can't get enough of his songs. I don't care about the variety show just want to see and hear him sing and laugh. He does me heart good.
***** I read both books. It seems the kids came to him everytime they needed money. I wonder if they even noticed when he was getting ill he couldn't hold his notes as well and was short of breath. When he owed all that money to the IRS. He wanted to retire and had to keep on working due to his bills. Through all his problems he still kept up a good front and was a great intertainer. When Geraldo had Deanna on his show and they were talking to Dean you can tell he wasn't well. I just hope he wasn't alone when he died because he was the greatest. Always the great intertainer.. Why those paparazzi couldn't leave him alone in that restuarant they prob tried to tell him they were there from the look on his face and he probably said I don't give a crap lets go. He was so frail and sick and they took advantage. I hope someday those money rags get their own back.
Terry LoMeli I read that book his son Ricci I think wrote no I don't have it I checked it out of the Houston library...I love Dean always have since I heard him on the radio in July '93 at age 23 two months before I turned 24 ......when I heard he died on Christmas Day 1995 that was heartbreaking I laid on the bed and cried for 2 1/2 hours.. how I heard it I was watching the NBA on NBC and they said it at halftime...when I heard him on the radio I didn't know what he looked like just heard the voice but it was good I had to get me a tape of him didn't have CDs yet when I went to the mall and picked the tape up of him and looked at the picture I said wow what a man!!!!!!..I don't know if you're a man or a woman since Terry is a name for both but Dean was handsome sexy dreamy hot suave and dapper eh?????!!!!!!!!!
Terry LoMeli you are confusing dean martin with Sammy davis jr. who was the one that owed the IRS a lot of money and was broke when he died. when dean died he was worth over 200 million dollars. dean martin didn't have any financial issues. dean had retired but did the last tour because frank asked him to. dean left the tour because he was still heartbroken over his son's death. dean and frank fell out over dean's leaving.
Best version ever. Stirs something deeply sentimental-- even beyond a breakup
Dean always made it look so effortless. And for him, it was.
Such a wonderful entertainer. Been a lifetime fan and now, aged 88 in 2024, still am.
You'll see 100.

I am sad for my Children's generation. The 20 somethings. They are having such a hard time of it. They cant meet anyone. Not like we used to meet and trust people.
I’ve feel it as well. When you hear these songs its proof that shift has taken place and its beyond negative. 😢
That last long note with that perfect vibrato all the way is something you'll never hear again in such beautiful way by other singers... He was so much talented ❤🙏🙏🙏
Dean was so captivating when singing. This handsome man had a voice like no other .
So true my friend
Nice observation
The shame is that they don't have singers like him today or music like this. I'm glad I can listen to this music every day.
Engelbert Humperdinck is now 87 years old and still performing.Definitely the last of that era sadly
I hear my kids tell to watch all these sings shows like, The Voice, America Got Talent, Britian Got Talent, etc.
Then you Watch and Listen to this man, and realize who really has Talent.
End of Story!
Peter Racippo Amen to that. This guy was the epitome of cool:-)
He smoked too much though ultimately dying from lung cancer. Too bad.
Considering the Era, smoking was the thing to do and most crooner's like Sinatra, Bennett, etc did it. Then Drugs became the"In thing", as both Prince and Michael Jackson can attest to.
Peter Racippo he still lived to 78 . And wow what a life he lived . Who didn't love him???
Peter Racippo smoking wasn't the 'in thing'. It was just what people did. You can't liken it to drug use nowadays. Both my parents were heavy smokers, along with everyone else. Those were the mistakes of the 60s and 70s like lead paint and no seat belts.
There will never be another
As the man once said : " Folks you can wait around & hope, but you'll not hear the likes of this, again. " ----------------So sad, & so true. -------------------------------WolfSky9, 72 y/o
The man was a legend even in his lifetime. He is one of the people you never forget. Beautiful and timeless.
Totally agree with you
Definitely.
Beautiful, man ! ♥️
Love his voice ❤
Still love it..Nobody like Dean

My Dad loved dean Martin's show as well. He & I would sit & watch & laugh till we had tears running down our face. I miss my Dad & I miss Dean Martin. May they both RIP!!

Love this song, brings memories and tears ❤
What a lovely comment.
All the crap today doesn't compare to the legends of the past... Dean Martin pure legend
Dean Martin was truly one of the greatest vocalists of our time just pure raw talent.
Dean Martin comes from an era when there were what was known as 'ORIGINAL SINGERS'. From the first note one knows instantly who is singing. I love this kind of music and never get tired of hearing it. Dean was truly 'one of a kind'. RIP❤❤❤
Aint nobody like Dean. There will never be another Dean.
You're so right.
never
The fact that he can pull this off while in a semi reclining position says everything about this marvelous talent.
Dean Martin had his own way to make a song so it sounds LIKE original but better
Dean so cool.
Love this ..Thanks Dean..
Take a close look at his expressions! Every wrinkle of his face, speaks! Oh my God, he was the best!
Some people say "none is irreplaceable"..
Men like him are unfortunately IRREPLACEABLE!
But he will live FOREVER in our memories!

I like that Dean sings this sitting down. What a voice. What a gift.
Dean Martin is an absolute timeless legend

This man was a real talent. There was literally nothing he couldn't sing, and sing perfectly.
Such a smooth and easy talent, still my favorite version of this song

I always wanted a woman without one....
Just an amazing voice
King of Cool
The silky voice, so calm and cool - man Dean could really sing a song in such a laid back fashion, Chill!
so beautiful and so sad
Dean Martin and Elvis were two of my all time favourite singers; they were both very good looking. It is sad that the world is deprived of their talents. Elvis good looks and voice will never be duplicated and so is Dean. I have a whole bunch of records of both singers and will forever cherish them. Right on!!!!!
The more you hear it, the more it gets to you. Wonderful song!
Man you said it. It's like it stirs up something timeless
In the years he did The Dean Martin Show, it's safe to say there were only a handful of times --like this --when Dean sang from his heart, & it was always a song about losing love. What a beautiful voice. So smooth. Love Dean.
For some reason this song makes me cry. Dean's version was very touching. Great song, but I'm crying, lol!
Yes man it stirs the deepest sentiments of love's tragedies...done by a man who will never be replaced
Black folks, this is soulful. OG.
Nobody else touches the emotions like Mr Martin. He remains the penultimate.
RIP Dino...your songs remain and continue to shine.
I grew up with Dean Martin's television series...I have his classics collection, he's always been my favourite singer!
I have the same collection, I grew up with him too & he's always been my favourite singer

Only for Dean Martin would I have listened to another sing this song, and he was so effortlessly great at it. Love and miss you Dean!
What a voice and personality.

Wow...this may be my favorite performance of his...boy, he really feels it.
A true definition of a "crooner"....will miss you and your voice!
He's such a great perfumer, and one of very few who could take a song and make it there own. He's like Elvis, they could sing anything and get away with it. What a master!
All time favorite version of this song. Still gets me the chills, 10 years after my first comment 💕

He had great time and phrasing and feel
You deserve all the praise and applause forever, dear Dean Martin. I am always captivated by your warm baritone voice.
This beautiful song would have also sounded great in Elvis Presley's voice. Both Dean and Elvis were baritones.
There will never be another like him, He did this and many other songs justice, Sad they are disappearing, fantastic song love it
beautiful
Just a regular ol' classy Southern Ohio boy like Clark Gable.
Some called him lazy with his vocal...but when you hear him lay this tune down...with his phrasing...his style...he makes you believe the song. That's an artist.
Dean, Sammy, Frank and Bing were the ultimate crooner`s. Each song they sang told a story.
milestoneman Toss in Nat 'King' Cole, Mel Torme, and Matt Monro
Magic the best ever all of them. But they all loved ,and adored one man even more . The great sachmo, the great Mr Armstrong . He played with them all , and you never forget a show any one of them made with the great man.
Mr. Martin, you were just magnificent on this one, & I so remember watching this with my Dad. One of the very few times you really sang from the heart. ---I was in tears. -----------Wolfsky9, 70 y/o
The very best singer of all time
10/14/10 ... Is there a song that Dean could not sing? The best!
A very sad day when we lost this man
Talk about relaxed, some of todays performers could learn something from this. Beautiful.
I actually remember this.
His show was always so much fun. And here was this sad song ,right in the middle of the laughs. And even as a kid, I was moved.
What a very sad song when you listen closely to the lyrics. 😢
I love Dino! This is the only song that just hits home like nobody's business. He sang it as it should have been sang.
This man is amazing.I love him.

I mean "ahhhh." Love this man's style. Aside from this music the man was so darn handsome ,manly and suave. Miss this type.
Sitting around a camp-fire with Dean Martin, John Wayne and Walter Brennan would have been something to remember forever. Dino was pure talent. "My rifle, pony and me" is a Classic. But ol' Dino almost steals this song clean away from Glen Campbell.

He's so smooth.
I just love his music and this video is one of my favourites. Rick
A man's song, sung by a man's man--as only he could do it. You were the best, Mr. Dean Martin --& I'm in tears, every time I see this video, because I so remember watching this on your show. One of a handful of times you really sang from the heart. Wolfsky9

As a teenager I recall guys on the street singing in fun , " Everybody Loves Somebody Sometime .... .

NO ONE better singing this song to make you, sit, relax and just listen to the voice.
So smooth…a great crooner.
I heard from people's comments that his daughter's book was very moving. I just can't get enough of his songs. I don't care about the variety show just want to see and hear him sing and laugh. He does me heart good.
