This kind of TV will never see again, it’s something special to get to enjoy even now.
Conservatives have ruined this for us
Unfortunately whoever owns the airways doesn't let freedom, laughter, fun & down to earth conversations any more. Our media is terrible currently.
absolutely!
Nothing to add. It's the truth. I miss these days...
Whites only television . Glad we have diversity now
Pure class. A bunch of friends having a great time in front of 30 million people.
And the 30 million people loved it including me.
@@lilybond6485 Me too 👍 a time when American was at the apex of its existence and creativity.
Class? Frank sounded like a typical NYC cab driver from way back when
Sei. Classe pura. O Dean um alcoólatra sem recuperação. Classe de cú é rola.
This video made me feel all cozy and stuff like when grandma comes over on Thursday with cookies and vodka.
No one will ever top the true entertainer, Frank and Dean.
How about Sammy?
No mention of Sammy Davis Jr. at all?
This was life in the usa. Long gone are the good times.
@johnhere59: Yes.. It’s over. Makes me sad. I was telling someone earlier today, that I am so glad I grew up when I did - late 50s - early 60s. Had the greatest middle class childhood/adolescence ever. I feel very grateful that I have all of those memories.
The Golden Age of Hollywood.
For you but the rest of us are enjoying.
Maybe it was good for you but for a large population of people it was very difficult.
Now comes Trump! Hahahaha
Chivas Regal 15 year old on the rocks in my left hand and a Camel filter in my right as I watch this golden piece of nostalgia on my 85 inch led on a hot August night in 2023. I am feeling so good and this fills me with happiness unlike every single thing else they try to pass off as television these days. I was born in the wrong era.
Ah, now that's the ticket!
You are so right! People never missed this show, or at least tried to stay up that late.
Sinatra and Martin were both talented top notch entertainers. Dean had a great voice too.
October 5, 1965. That was 3 weeks before my oldest brother was born. Every woman in the audience wore a dress and every man was in a suit. And cigarettes were everywhere. We have improved in some ways, but deteriorated in others. This was an amazing snapshot it time. The Rat Pack were so charismatic and talented. Frank was a rock star. ❤
💜💜💜
..I was 14 years old when this aired, my parents loved these guys especially being from an Italian family in Connecticut…audience clean shaven, jackets and ties and lovely women dressed lovely..no metal detectors at the entrance, I bet…no search for weapons, just a lit cigarette once in awhile, appropriate language that anyone could watch..a breath of fresh air..have Blessed Day..😊
No fatties. Fatties were very rare.
Omg that’s my birthday but 1988! But the fact I watch this all the time and to know it’s October 5th is pretty cool
In 1965 the Tonight show starring Johnny Carson was also relatively fresh, with Carson taking over in 1962.
I was born at the tail end of both of their lives, but I must say that I feel utterly privileged to have occupied the earth with Frank and Dean for a few short years. What paragons of talent and creativity they were!
Indeed !! Good entertainers and singers ! ❤
Joey Bishop approached my wife and I and talked to us like we were old friends but I never acknowledged that I was a fan or anything silly like an autograph. We parted ways and said good night. We were on our honeymoon and had the privilege to meet him and see Rodney live. I cherish those days and wish that things were more like then.
They sound like self-obsessed arseholes to me.
@@danielreichert2025
Nice to reminisce our good old days and celebrities we met along the way ! I met Telly Savalas Raymond Burr and almost encounter Dean Martin but just saw his vehicle with the license plate saying, "Drunky."

I gotta keep coming back to watch every few months just to see what real tv used to be like.. Always putting on a show love it
If Dean, Frank and Johnny saw how late night tv was now, they'd roll over in their graves
Everything about this - banter, humour, style ... even the adverts - is from another age. When Sinatra suddenly strolls onto the floor and sings live ( accompanied only by a piano)a song unknown to me up till that moment he shuts out everything including Dean's off camera joke and slips effortlessly into character giving a performance fit for the Smithsonian. What a gift he gave to us.
Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin were great friends they had lots of fun together and both had talent.
Are you sure?
Dino steals the beginning with his humor…but Frank just shows why he is Frank when he sings…greatness
The way Dean calls Frank 'Dago' - true friends having a great time together.
"You wanna hear the ocean?" Dean the natural and cool humour guy, Sinatra just gazing and trying keep the pace!
someone asked Frank once what he wanted and he said 'I want to be Dean.' ...
Long gone are the days when dudes were this cool.
This show saved my life.
Downward spiral of emotions and the world changing this brought back the foundation I needed.
Humility
Friendship
Comedy
The rest is history
We miss you
Johnny
Frank
Dean
Don
Sammy❤
@@kingmaafa120absolutely!!!
What talent! To so effortlessly entertain people! True class. I'd rather watch these two over and over than any comic, singer or entertainer out there today. Good clean fun!
They're truly missed.
Take care guys.
True talent....and check Frank out...no tracks behind his voice, no lip syncing, no back up dancers....all real raw talent
........this world will never see the likes of these legends again❤
Natural talent with humor that is not rude or offensive. How did our society loose that?
Sad how the world lost this

Dean always stole the show! ;)
Dean saved Bishop from sinking
@Frank00: What do you mean ? What happened ?
hes a natural ,, humble and blessed
His bumbling drunk act isn’t funny to me
A true entertainer!
Dean and Frank are hilarious, especially when they are together ❤️🤣
Such a treat to see any Carson show video pre 70s! This one is top notch too !!
"I slipped on an ice cube" Dean I love you.
They were the Kings of cool. Smoking on TV - can you believe it ?! Dean Martin was gorgeous - pure class.
Well, a lot of people smoked on TV in those days, not just Sinatra and Dean. Hell, even Walter Cronkite was smoking during the JFK assassination telecast. By that measure, about half the people on TV were cool.
@@trekkiejunk They were indeed cooler times.
@@trekkiejunklmao
I never missed a Johnny Carson Show when Frank came on.. Dean and Frank are hilarious, especially when they are together ️.
‘Johnny is allowed to breathe because he knows Frank Sinatra’…Joe Gallo
Holy crap what a vocal performance from Frank. Stellar entertainment.
True professionals, no rehearsing, just being themselves.
My favorite Carson show. Dean and Frank......what a pair!
These were stars !!!! Legends !!!
Frank and Dean, two kings of entertainment. How I laughed watching the two of them tell their stories! I miss these great artists!
I never missed a Johnny Carson Show when Frank came on.
Same here, “The Voice” had it all, being a fan all my life, when I was little I listened to his songs in the radio and then pretended I was him.
As a 64 yr old man, I’m honored to have shared Sinatra’s songs with family and colleagues.
@@AFMMarcelDAs a 21 year old man, believe me when I tell you that Frank was and is a legend and always will be.
@@brandonsanders4844 Touche 👍🍻salud!
The real good and unforgettable days, those were the days when life was worth living.
You cant take your eyes off Dean. He was so so handsome . These guys knew their game and went with it. Class , talent was over the top.
Nasty ,,,cigarette smoke yuk
Mr. Sinatra was too cool!
I think he felt every word and note he sang.
I don't know how many people know this but Joey wrote much of the material the Rat Pack used on stage with their shows in Vegas and was considered the fifth member of the esteemed troupe.
Dean Martin was just as funny as he was handsome. So hilarious without vulgar like today. Johnny Carson best late talk show host ever lived.
There are no personalities in Hollycrap that could hold a candle to any of this. Non scripted honestly and banter. Great stuff back then.
Just in this video alone, You can see how great was Frank Sinatra as a friend and as unique, kind and supportive human being...a true brotherhood on display here...
👍👍👍
🙏🙏🙏
I always thought Joey Bishop was so underrated. A lot of people thought he was dull. Joey definitely wasn't in the same league as Dean Martin or Sinatra, but he held his own and managed to get some good laughs. I also think he had an awesome voice and showed a great deal of class wherever he was.
they were all friends and Joey Bishop was part of the Rat pack with Sammy Davis Jr
.
He wrote the jokes for the Rat Pack.
The Look on Joey's Face when Dean asks Him if He "Works on rosh Hannigan".... PRICELESS 😂
Class and talent...a rare combination these days...
The tonight show was the best entertainment I miss all those guys and gals since Johnny retired I never watched it again
Loved Dean Martin and the other guy😄. No cards just off the cuff. Even the audience was dressed nice. Thanks for the memories. 🤗🤣
And the other guy? FRANK SINATRA!!
@@scottkaplan7987 Joey Bishop ?
Not everyone likes Frank Sinatra.
@@sugarspice4051how can you not like Frank?
Dont act like Frank wasnt lliterally at the absolute top during his prime.@sugarspice4051
There’s no going back but so often I wish I could. It was a better time.
A better time? Ehhh... In some ways, definitely. In a lot of ways, definitely not. I appreciate advancements in medicine, a more fair society to people of diverse backgrounds, plus safer (albeit uglier) cars. Although today, we have the rise of fascism, the greatest gap between rich and poor in over a century, mobs trying to steal fair elections...I guess it depends on what your metric is. If it's strictly late night talk shows....i might agree with you.
It was definitely a better time in my world. Not a better time in somebody else’s world. That’s life.
Idk if it was a better time but the class and the cars sure was great in that time.
When America was free and happy
The SIZE of that ashtray! 😂😂 Terrific show! ❤
It’s a miracle we have some of these early tonight shows preserved in color! Ed looks so young here, too.
"Don't light anything near him Frank." 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I f-ing love the cigarette commercial at the break!
Sinatra singing is really kind of hypnotizing. The dude really commits.
Great singer and artist Sinatra
The saddest part was when they panned the audience and you saw normal looking people wearing suits and dresses and not an overweight person in sight!
Think of the hours those women spent in the beauty salon.
@@sharksport01lol
All that cigarette smoke kept everyone slim.
@@rocket78able Amen to That.
The food didn't have additives back then. It changed 1980s
I could watch these all day long!! Nothing today compares!
Sinatra's voice speaks straight to your soul
I agree
What a great time in history. We'll never see talent like that again.
THIS IS ICONIC 😂💗💗💗💗 ALL GREATS
Was not expecting Sinatra to do a number! Also nice cameo by the studio camera …
2 great voices of which we will never forget or see again. 2 very classy guys where also pretty good actors as well. Never tire of watching them...
9:02 Dean's joke about Joey pitching was clearly a reference to Sandy Koufax (a Jewish pitcher) scheduled for Wednesday's game. Don Drysdale actually pitched that game. Sandy Koufax deferred in order to observe Yom Kippur.
Such a classic never going see tv like this again love Frank,Dean, Joey legends. ❤
I wasn't even born then, but this is when the "Tonight Show" actually meant something!
And Most Importantly,!
.. if we Properly Do Our Research,(!); a Bob Bernard Newhart *IS* Still With Us at the age of Ninety-Three Years Young as of this Correction !.. 😄😁😁😁🙂😊☺️😊☺️☺️☺️
Johnny Carson was so great even when he wasn't there his show was perfect.
Makes no sense
The old cigarette commercials were priceless, lol
Yehhh, you didn't see those after 1970; banned.
The greatest entertainers of that and this era!!
Once Dean & Frank were on stage, Dean had a drink in his hand and then asked Frank for a drink, Frank said you have a drink, Dean said “is that my hand”.
This IS PURE GOLD!!! They don’t make TV or Entertainers LIKE THIS ANYMORE!!!!
A time machine to an almost fairy tale age. Im european / bulgarian born in 1990 but 50's and 60's US has always been one of my favorite ages and places to daydream about - Ive always wished I could port to it and this does the job
I've always thought it was Frank I loved, but now I know Dean is my true love ❤️
I think I was exposed to second hand smoke thru my iPad. Love Deano and Frank! All this needed was Sammy. I like how nobody was offended by jokes in the day. Frank, Joey and Dean played off each other so effortlessly.
This is such a treat to watch. 😍 The friendship, the humor, the talent, the fun......nothing could ever compare. These guys were the epitome of class, style, and talent. We will never see/witness this kind of performance ever again. God bless these beautiful and talented souls. 💜🙏🏻💜
I simple love the off-the-cuff banter going on between these three! Joey and Dean were especially good at shooting off those witty wisecracks... I lost it at "Hey, where's that Johnny baby?" "It's back there", hahaha
Thats a episode for eternity, like the number 1 show with these legendary people.
Love these two. Best singers ever. So funny together, too.
To those commenting that Dean Martin is drunk, it was an affectation he felt he needed to cement an image in the minds of the public. His attitude was if you wanted it straight you should buy his albums. He made a fortune doing it, too.
No he had been drinking all day. Quit making things up. 🤡
Nonsense. Dean was always well lubricated, if not drunk.
@@jscanfalse, look at interviews of his friends and acquaintances. It was all an act. He became a drunk however, after his son died in 1987
I wish people acted and talked like this today. The people from 1900 to 1960 ( the music, the movies, the way we spoke and dressed) is the best version of humans this earth has seen now it seems like we are going backwards again
Best version of humans? Ridiculous. Those decades also witnessed two horrific World Wars and a global Depression. All caused by humans. Very, very far from perfect.
I agree
I wear classical menswear and Mr. Joey's suit is spot on, especially the nice contrast seen between the red pocket square and light grey suit. A level of civility not seen with the younger cell phone obsessed generation 😢.
Not after dark.
The pure greatness of Franks voice
The Matt Helm movies were really good with Dean. They had a bunch of them on TCM one Saturday.
I wish I had lived in an earlier era. In my opinion, life was better back then. The 1950s were a time when wives took care of household chores and cooking. People dressed up in fancy attire, and life seemed easier, especially within the nuclear family. At the dinner table, conversations were conducted politely, with each person taking turns speaking while others listened attentively.
I agree
That was great. Love the atmosphere! All they needed was Sammy!
Sammy Davis Jr was so talent he could sing dance act make comic
Thanks for the memories. Dean and Frank were in a class of their own, played off each other perfectly. I wish Dean had also done a song, there's always UA-cam and there I go.
DEAN: That's a you boat?
FRANK: No, it's a me boat.
😅😂
Impeccable. Nobody could pull that tune off so effortlessly and on pitch other than Frank. Nobody….
Never seen a more stacked guest panel 😮❤
$160 in 2023 is $1,550! That’s pretty damn good for a few mins!
I was wondering that - but still for them - that might pay for a night out and a few drinks. Doesn’t seem like that was very much.
That was just a joke
Best song Frank’s favorite and omg did he sing it ♥️🥰
Back when ppl could be free spirited and just not give a rat's arse if they offended or not. That was funny and so refreshing. Thank you & God bless

Yes. Too bad Sammy Davis wasn’t there. and Peter Lawford. Can you imagine what that would have been like ? Just once - why didn’t they do it ?!
how joey kept a straight face for much of it... amazing
not in a thousand years will we ever see a singer take the stage and perform a live song like Frank Sinatra just did in this video, had to replay the part 3 times
I was mesmerized by his performance. How fortunate adults in the US of that time were to have had the opportunity to hear him live.
Such a classic lineup ❤❤
They are on shrooms 100%😂.

I was just shy of 2 yrs. old when this aired. So much fun to see friends have fun with each other.
