I’m nearing the end of my life and every time I listen to this song I’m reminded of my youth. Mom and dad were alive and my brothers and sister were living at home. I feel like I was born at the right time. To the future I say this. “ Enjoy the music my generation left you”.

This is the America that I love, that I admired during my college years in the 70s. But that America has changed. Glen Campbell was the symbol of the good things that America gave to the world. I wish those days would come back one day. RIP Glen, your music is immortal.

Thirty years ago. I took a small jet to turn myself in at Allenwood Federal Prison Camp to do some time. I used to listen to this song because I had left without saying goodbye to anyone. We had a lake, a bocce court and gym, no fences and an old abandoned church with cemetery we could use. I became successful after I got out and now I'm retired. Songs like these make you travel back in time.

I've just heard the most uplifting story when Glen came to my home town of Halifax, England in the 1980s
Glen enjoyed his time in Halifax having the chraic with the locals before his sell out concerts.
He frequented the pub the Plummet Line on a few occasions enjoying the local ales.
So much so that the lass working behind the bar cooked him apple pie of which he looked forward to on his return, on his request. (Halifax Courier have an excellent article)
I personally had to see Glen and did so in Manchester on his last tour of the UK.
Boy, that was some emotional concert.
    God bless you Glen. X

I'm 59 years old and lost my mother recently. She live with me and my family foe a long time and she loved country music. I wished I had watched some of these videos with her. She would have loved them.
I love reading the comments of all the people on here and the stories of their lives. I grew up in upstate NY and this music takes me back to the hot summer days and nights in the 70's at my grandparents and watching Hee-Haw, or any number of the variety of shows on at the time (Donny and Marie, Sonny and Cher, etc.) and seeing all the music acts. Who knew we had it so good? Keep the stories coming. I love reading them.

When I was in the Marines, when everyone else kept pictures of family and current pictures of early '70's rock and roll stars in their rooms, I had a picture of Glen Campbell.
