My Mom and Dad didn't listen to alot of the same music, but this was what I would call "their song". They were married for just over 21 years before my Dad passed away. My Mom was a widow at 42 yrs old and I was a 19 yr old sophomore in college. Every time I hear this song, I think of my parents. Mom has now gone on too, after being without her only love for nearly 36 years. Maybe soon I'll be able to join them and we'll be a family again with my older brother too, also gone, just 2 years after my Mom went to be with our Dad. Love this song and the beautiful memories that it brings.❤

Julia Milford and Diane Uecker, I read in her biography, that Jeanne slept in Dean's bed the Christmas night he died. She held his hand until they took him away. He told her that she was the 'only girl.he ever loved'.
By 1969, Dean was going through marital problems, which sings this song with a deep regret and simply missing his Jeanne. They finalized their divorce in 1973.

I am the only one he's got and l have been tearful but not in front of him. However this song has made me stronger to be able to help him till the end because of these words. "There'll be time enough for sadness when you leave me" So if you are in the same sad situation as l am, these words can help.
The emotions that emerged in Dino's face, especially near the end of the song. His heart, mind and soul were totally into that performance. As he progressed, he seemed to be drawn deeper into the remorse he felt for having cast away the greatest and possibly the only true love in his life. He was struggling to keep himself composed so he could finish. He is truly a legend.

One of my best friends just send me this song today, few minutes before my birthday I am all by myself, feeling more down and alone than anything, and he told me I just drink a few glasses while listening to this song. I don't feel alone anymore, I feel just at home
This performance that Dino gave here is so heart touching (moreover knowing that he was almost bursting into tears while singing it. Somehow, you can relate to him). Thank you for uploading this in good quality. You got a great collection of Mr. Martin.
Maybe someone else here can give you a better answer, but my guess is that, somehow, he sang this song with Jeanne in mind (not sure if this episode was aired before or after he divorced her :/ ).
Jeanne and him was going Thur a divorce about this time so that would explain the tears. It also had to be hard cause he was a star it was public knowledge. I have to hand it to him cause he was not afraid to show his feeling. A happier copy of him singing this can be found on UA-cam from 1983 he was on a tour in London. It was his birthday, he got a award and best of all he announce that Jeanne and him was back together. Then 2 or 3 songs later he sung this song with a big smile. I think this is my favorite song of his cause the w different versions I have seen.
I truly believe Dean put personal emotions into this very poignant song. After the death of Dino and Jeane leaving him.He had many regrets but in his last year's he and Jeane reconciled She never married anyone else They truly loved each other❤🎉❤🙏🙏🙏❤🎉❤RIP dear Dean Martin A legend

The most entertaining singer or all time. Dearly missed.
We sure could us Dino now!to spread some of his. Great talent and humor, among a very, very changing and depressed world 🌎. God. Bless you paisan
I'm 44 years old, and love this music, made before I was born.
The world seemed more pretty back then.
His voice always resonated much more with me than Sinatra.
So glad we have this to remember
Rip to the master, mr dean martin
So sad when a love story come to end.
Every time I hear this dude sing, the world and my life in it get a certain soft tint.
KRIS ROTE A GREAT SONG & DINO DID IT JUSTICE!!!
This cat had it ALL! Voice, looks and most of all swagger. He was just about the coolest cat ever. I remember even as a kid 10 or 12 years old I loved his singing and laid back cool persona. Never be another like him.
YOUNG SINGERS TAKE NOTE, TECNIQUES HERE LEARNED FROM A LIFETIME OF EXPERIENCE, NICE STEADY BREATHING, WITH APPOGIO, MEANS LEANING ON THE BREATH, SOFT PALATE AND TONGUE RELAXED WITH NO TENSION, A TILTED LARYNX, KNOWING WHEN TO STAY QUIET, AND WHEN TO SING, FEELING IN THE LYRICS, AGAIN LEARNED FROM SOME HURT IN LIFE, BUT MOST OF ALL, LETTING THE MIND CONNECT TO THE INSTRUMENT, ALLOWING IT TO FLOW THROUGH THE BODY, THEN AND ONLY THEN CAN YOU CALL YOURSELF A SINGER, THE SAME DISCIPLINES IN DINO, ARE THE SAME FOR, ROCK POP, COUNTRY, JAZZ, OR ANY OTHER GENRE, GOOD LUCK YOU WILL NEED IT.
I've Always loved Dean, Elvis called him the King of Cool
oh man ..... if i could spend just one day in this man’s shoes.... i’d have lived a thousand lives .... thank you dean, from childhood movie watching to last twenty years listening to your vocal talent... i thank you, sir ....
What a great singer! One of my favorites... his style is unique and no one can even get closer to him.
Love and miss you Dean Martin!!!
Martin.
Why was he sad?.
@@RedCygnes14 i thought it was cause His son died
@@doctorj5009 Not the case here, Elijah. Dean Paul Martin died in 1987, and this was aired in the early 70's.

Simple music can make you sing simple hug can make you feel better simple things can make you happy, i hope my simple Hello brings smile to your face,,
Once in a life time we meet somebody that changes us forever to the core of our heart. My forever love passed 2 years ago. This song reminds me of the love we shared. I was sent to save him and he was sent to save me. Sometimes it's hard to be without him but I still feel hes with me at times.
It usually brings me peace. Today listening to this opened up such sadness.
May we hang on to our loved ones for tomorrow is promised to no one. X
Great singer, great comedian, actor and good man, to boot. A class act.
Class act ! Nobody comes near
God bless dean 😊
Love Dean's voice and how he sings this song. At the same time listen to the lyrics and see what he's asking for.
Dean Martin has the most beautiful voice of all time
I said when I first saw this that Dean was crying. And he was.
This was my Mother's favorite love song. She always played it from Ray Price. Dean, as always puts his own special touch to this song.
