Let us know your thoughts on the episode below
You’re crazy dude, I thought episode 2 was even better than the premiere
I want the Hangman to step on me
What if instead of killing Victor. By the end of the season, Oz is going by Cobblepot and Victor is going by Zsasz? 4D chess! 😂
24:03
IMO Luca kinda HAD to be merciless there... Sofia was clearly about to kill Castillo and Luca is considered weak by the streets, as Oz says at Blackgate (I think that part was true, Penguin loves half truths)
If he stands back and lets her kill him (she asked for a gun like 3 times, it was drawn out) he'll look weak in front of all those henchmen... weaker than Sofia at least and that would be really really bad for him
I love the detail of the landlord speaking in Spanish to Oz and Oz understanding everything, even responding with some words in spanish, it gives continuity to the "el rata / la rata" thing in the movie
Thank god because I loved the Batman and thought it was an amazing movie but that whole el la scene threw me off kinda thought it was a dogshit part
I thought this too!
Yeah
This is especially interesting because Salvatore's lady was speaking Spanish in his presence under the impression that oz doesn't understand.
@@Priti1998Nbut that wasn’t Spanish she was speaking I thought it was Italian.
Everyone missed that The Penguin told Sophia that his Mom is dead. That means that anything he said about his brothers is likely also a complete lie as well. Also it makes him and the whole show so much more interesting that he's hiding his mom from everyone buit Vic. You haven't noticed that? He changes cars to go to his Mom. And that anything he says could be a complete lie to anyone other than perhaps certain characters. Also the fact that he is allowing Vic alone to see his mother tells me that he still has very little intention to end up keeping him alive. After he killed the Meroni he even said "We all gotta make sacrifices" to the dude's corpse. He justifies everything for his mother and that line will eventually result in Vics death no question. Hes gonna become a bad guy remember. That is a classic line that you also missed. You did better than screen crush at least
I think he wants to keep her a secret so his enemies don’t have any leverage on him. That or he sees his mother as dead from the point she got dementia.
He lied to keep her mom alive. But I do think his brothers are dead. Cause when his mother said the boys he shot her a look like what boys ma?
@@xandercrews4729 he definitely doesnt see her as dead. Take it from a person who lost his father to dementia, thats definitely not how it works. We that care fight to the end for them. Especially for what thery are clearly making him with her which helps make him into the complex character he is and its gonna be about doing it all for his mom. Including killing Vic. "Say that to my Tombstone" was another classic line the everyone missed
I was thinking the same thing when the “landlord” found her across the street. Like why wouldn’t he buy her a house in stead of renting. But you can look up land deeds and who is on the title. I’ve heard it’s a technique Private investigators use to find people or their extended family they might be hiding with.
I see you also replied the same comment in screen crush's comments xD
That back and forth light in the therapy session is known as EMDR therapy, which is a fairly new approach and technique. It’s meant to simulate REM sleep to “rewire” trauma, depression, anxiety, etc. just thought it was interesting they showed that.
Does it work?
@@IZA_Grey It's one of the most promising for trauma besides psychedelic psychotherapy in a few years.
Most if not all the characters in Batman mythos need it 😂
@@aseem2985 same 😏
i heard it was meant to simulate the relaxing feeling of walking and scanning the environment... never heard of it simulating rem sleep - not even once, so whatever
I think Alberto killed the girls Sofia is blamed for. It would make sense if he as an angry son with no power, let it out in a violent way. She may have taken the blame in order to protect him. The show is portraying her as a very caring sister, and is showing how she was turned into a monster by Arkham and the family.
It was also the same in the show Gotham. Sophia went out of her way to try and get revenge for her brother. in Gotham, Sophia‘s brother was dosed with this rage virus, which randomly killing people out of rage. Could be a similar thing here where he’s just feeling belittled by his father as his father’s capos.
This show has been so good. Wife and I have been really enjoying it so far!
@22:07 no way you hit us with one of of the best rap verses from the late great Big Pun. Twinz (Deep Cover 98) IYKYK!
Big Pun forever 🇵🇷
GOAT
The life lesson scene at the graveyard between Cobblepot and his ward is such a good scene and him saying to his ward this is not like you have a second chance to fix a mistake. You have one chance to do it right and if you screw-up your dead.
The best thing for me is about Oz was willing to kill Ervard and save the kid, even though he is going to "fail" for the marones about saving Ervard. Obviously he will use his talk to slip throught. I love that Batman and Robin thing that is going on with the kid
@@rominhows5042 LOVED THAT SCENE!
The Godfather Diane Keaton ending scene with Sofia Falcone as she sees the door closes was so good.
But not original. I need something original. I need original cinematography
@@psychoapplesauceeater8562 Go make it!
@@psychoapplesauceeater8562 then go do it yourself bozo
@@psychoapplesauceeater8562it’s more of a ode to the classic mafia gangster films! Oswald is basically Tony Soprano with a club foot!
This show is so damn good!
Is it just me or Does Sophia remind anyone else of Talia Shire from The Godfather? Gosh she has so many similarities, looks a lot like her.
I thought the same!
So much so that it seems on purpose
Its been one hour! One. Hour.
He probably gets them early
@@ROTNReaper he does. Not sure why people don’t understand this.

If you stream them online you can usually watch 3-4 weeks in advance
@SpaceX30 unless you're a reviewer/critic, how?
This Show is the Best comic book adaptation ever done , this is Godfather Level 😱😱😱😱😱
So far. And I heard Next episode is waaay better than these 2..
Victor being mr Freeze? You know who is also named Victor and connected to penguin in the comics? Victor Zsasz.
Exactly. Idk why no one else has thought this. It was my 1st thought we he yold penguin his name.
Came to say the same!
This show is absolutely fantastic. Colin Ferrall or Cristin Milioti could carry it, but they're both doing amazing work so far. Great show.
The song in the heist was actually by Bobby Darrin not Frank Sinatra. Also when Oz was dancing with his mom the song might have been the same song that he heard the first time his mom brought him to that club after the death of his brothers.
A couple of things: Robbinsville is named for Frank Robbins, A DC comics writer and co-creator of Man Bat. Also it's Bobby Darin that's being played during the FEMA heist scene NOT Frank Sinatra.
Heavy spoilys is the fucking REAL deal with that Big Pun and Fat Joe reference holy shit hahaha
I am super happy to see Cristin Milioti in yet another role. She was in Palm Springs (2020) movie and The Resort (2022) tv show where she was brilliant. She was in How I Met Your Mother (2005-2014) in minor role too !
She has a range... from playing girl in love, obsessed wife who tries to figure out mystery to crazy person in The Penguin (2024) now :D
My favorite Black Mirror episode as well 👀
Truly was a minor role despite being yknow....the Mother
How I met your mother, I thought I recognized her but couldn’t put my finger on it.
Thanks.
I thought the knife in Castillo's pocket and not in Viti's was by mistake, like Oswald tried for Viti's but ended up dropping it in the wrong pocket. That way he could show the blackmail photos as proof that Viti couldn't be trusted. But once he realizes the knife was in the wrong pocket, since Victor still had the jewels, Oswald just has Victor plant the jewels in Castillo's place, kinda like an "oh well someone has to take the blame."
I wouldn’t mind seeing a scene or two where we see some of the effects of Batman without having to see him. Like some of the gangsters come back all wounded and mangled up from an encounter with Batman, and they’re all like “yo, this guy…he’s a fuckin’ 🤌animal. We got a real problem here”
Penguin's mother reminds me of Fisk's mother in Daredevil. She also had dementia and inadvertently revealed how Fisk's father died to Karen Page. I think something similar could happen with Penguin's mother, but she's going to reveal that Penguin killed Alberto to Sofia.
I also see some livia soprano influences in the relationship between Oswald and his mother.
@@Chiefteeth1 Tony also tried playing an old record and dancing with Livia in episode 1, but Penguin's mom actually somewhat loves her son lol
Ya that’s a good ideo
THE RIDDLER was mentioned by the bar tender telling the cop had to throw on Captions to hear what I heard 👍🏽
I caught that too! Lol
I suppose it would be appropriate for Oz to kill Victor at the end of the season. We know at his core he's still a petty antagonist who wants power more than anything else, so if he kills the one "friend" that he "takes under his wing" it'll be a way for Oz to enter the igloo and emerge as the cold persona of the Penguin.
I bet Vic makes it all the way through.. seems like Vic is the only one Oz trusts....
Regarding Victor, my head theory after watching episode one is by the season's end he will double cross Oz for Sophia. Oz would have ironically done too well taking Victor under his wing and that included rubbing off his duplicitous nature to his young ward as well
I am thinking Vic is going to backstab him too. Vic knows where all the bodies are buried. I think he is going to end up spilling the beans to Sophia as well.
Just curious, do you happen to be a *Gotham* fan? Because, pretty big season 4 spoiler here, so if anyone here isn't caught up don't read the rest...
.
..
...
..
.
since, well, in *Gotham* , during the season in which Sofia Falcone (played by Crystal Reed) is trying to take Penguin out by first making an alliance with him, and later have Oswald's friend also named Victor turn his back to him when he suspects Penguin of having a hand in Carmine Falcone's murder, and Carmine was pretty much the only person that Victor seemed to truly respect (Sofia too, but she was playing him like a fiddle, and manipulating him into believing Oz did the deed...).
I don't know why they didn't explain how Vic escaped when the guards caught him going into the red Benz...
I think Victor will end up a good guy. Possibly even Robin in some form.
I'm thinking that somehow Sophia finds out about Oz's mam and that necklace he gave his mam in the first episode comes back and bites him in the arse
Absolutely thought the same thing she will take his mom captive and she might tell Sofia that oz killed Alberto or when asked her dementia will kick in and she won’t even remember then get killed by Sofia
I thought the same thing. The camera lingers on his mom wearing the necklace.
Yep foreshadowing
That suit better be on for every episode, Paul
The song playing during the drop heist, is by Bobby Darin's "Call Me Irresponsible", not Frank Sinatra, but I can definitely understand why everyone would think that, they have incredibly similar voices.
I like to think that Ryan and Paul get together and kick their feet writing jokes about each other
I think Luca is behind some betrayal of the family because he was quick to shoot and killed Castillo fast and all episode we are told how cautious and careful he is.
oh yeah if he has to kill vic i hope he continues the story of the gangster from his block when he was younger and it turns out that gangster killed Oz's brothers or something
I am thinking Vic is going to end up backstabbing Os and telling Sophia everything.
This episode was great! Sofia Falcone is so great in this show! 👍
22:06 Did he just spit Big Pun??? 😅 Mad props!
This show is just breathtaking. Looking great paul!
Great review, really enjoyed it, some lovely keen observations in there.
I think the therapist is doing eye movement desensitisation therapy, the light going side to side is used for PTSD and to relive the trauma in a safe environment to process that you are now safe and then he uses the 5,4,3,2,1 technique used to.ground you in the room (if you are having a panic attack you can get back into the room by counting 5 things you can see, then 4 you can touch, you can smell and so on, until you can regulate your breathing and come out of it) xx
Thank you again! Only breakdown I watch and you know why lol. 😉🤘
Damn, Penguin has been awesome! It's the type of Crime Noir Storytelling that Batman should be. (I see you "The Batman!"
Penguin is a Great Story after only 2 episodes.
I see a heavy spoilers video and I click. It's simple
and i hit the like button before the start
Same.
You nailed that Big Pun!!!!
One thing Vic could have done or the Penguin instruct him to do, is thrown the jewel case at the guards before escaping. Would have led to some questions like how did he know the case was there etc etc but in that moment of panic that could have been thought of a good plan at face value. As this would have had the same end result they were going for being linking the car's owner with the jewels.
Another brilliant episode and Great Suit as well 👍
Yoooo, my dude spittin Big Pun lyrics! This channel is top notch
Big pun....you old ... maybe we old lol
How many series have I vicariously watched through your channel 😅 I’ll add this to the list
I noticed the PENGUIN title in red the G is shaped liked a penguin and the fades to the penguins nose. Brilliant
Did anyone notice at the end in the behind the sence, the korean guy trow shade at alen aldwin when talking about the guns and using flash guns for safety on set "not using real gun".
He wasn't throwing shade at anyone, they didn't use guns for safety reasons that's all there is to that.
4:33 The painting reminds me of Jacob's Ladder with Tim Robins.
I think Sofia sleeps in there so no one can sneak up behind her.... *Shrugs.... Maybe idk she seems quite hyper vigilant to me 🤔
Great content and Love all the details! Really enjoying the show. penguin is almost getting caught up all the time and having to stay a step ahead. Great actors I love Sophia wouldn’t mind a show with just her 🔥
I have not seen your video in my feed I wonder why because you guys are awesome
Wow!! Episode 2 was amazing!
That Lorna Shore tease got me, fucking loved it.
This show is so god damn good. I can't even express how much im enjoying it. DC is doing an incredible job here, wish this was the direction they were going with the DCU but unfortunately I don't think the DCU with follow suit.
Never would have I thought Paul is a big pun fan
Victor also stutters as if he's cold..(mr.freeze)
lol 😂 what
It’s a condition
Love how many people picked up on those Big Pun bars from Twinz! I think you should drop more hip hop lyrics in your videos! Haha
Fun fact! The red light is NOT a tool for hypnotism, it’s actually a known therapy called EMDR (Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy is a mental health treatment technique. This method involves moving your eyes a specific way while you process traumatic memories. EMDR's goal is to help you heal from trauma or other distressing life experiences.) It’s primarily used to treat PTSD.
I was not expecting that Lorna Shore bit, but it makes sense 😂❤
Wow I'm subscribing just for you having the knowledge of that Big Pun lyric
Finally a good show. Haven’t looked forward to watching something in forever.
The Big Pun reference was gold made my day !!!!
You look great man.
Success sits well on you.
💪🏻
Looking sharp!
Thank you, had to look for your videos after watching screen crush
Nah, he'll be Victor Freeze because his name is Victor, and his studder sounds like someone freezing
Nah... this show is far more creative then that. in The Batman sequel we'll get a scene where he reveals his last name is Zsaz before slicing someone up. Maybe Oz... his first scar
Victor Zaaz
The Big Pun reference 👩🍳 💋
Eeeyy Paul got dressed up for us today! Looking good mate!
You had barz with that Big Pun random drop. Respect 🫡
I love the clip of the singer Lorna Shore. Your editor must be metal head.
That Lorna Shore reference though, nice to know there’s fellow metal heads out there who love Batman!
Paul looks like he's Mr Pink from Reservoir Dogs
I enjoyed episode 2 more. The series has been so good so far I wasn’t expecting for it to be this good but I shouldn’t be surprised as The Batman was 10/10
Slid that big pun verse in there! I love it!
I love how Oz never tells Victor to "speak up" or cut him off mid speech due to Victors stutter. Oz feels sympathetic imo
Why you look like one of those lawyers the court appoints you when you cant afford one.
Public Defenders can sometimes be amazing I've had some great ones. I also had one who was so confused he was looking at the wrong case file in court, was stammering when he spoke & had not a single objection. Luckily the judge asked if I had something to say and I pretty much argued my case, proved employment and said I'd cop to abuse but not intent to distribute. Saying that a quarter ounce can only get you 40 bucks at most what kind of sad dealer would I be. Judge let me go that day, that public defender later went on to run for congress years later.

That cilantro comment about soap. I felt that in my soul. I hate that vile stuff.
Hello Hello! Loving the look Sir!
I love that Penguin acknowledges to Victor the two victims were 'innocent' relatively speaking neither Ervad or Castillo needed to die. Vitti was a perfect scapegoat and piling up bodies just brings more heat, although not from Batman for some reason which is weird.
Props for the Big Pun line! 👍🏾🤣
Every time i click one of these video's, I go into it like: There's no way, no freaking way I missed anything in this video/show!
Boy oh boy, I couldn't possibly be more wrong,

Love the old school outtakes mate, keep those coming!
Loving the Twinz 98 reference 💙
Yooo that Pun line drop salute
I'm Batman. Thanks for the breakdown Alfred. Still can't get my head around skip-able UA-cam shorts ads.
I am curious to see what is the fate of Victor. Everyone seems to think he will not make it past Season 1, but I believe there is more to the character than we know. He looked pretty choked up when OZ mentioned the guy got murdered for talking to the Feds. Also curious to know who Graciela is who texted him during the party. I wouldn't be surprised if he is a mole or an informant.
if you watched the opening scene just as the title card fades you can get an artistic glance on Oz's nose which looks 1:1 to his comic book counterpart
I think this is giving Vic another chance, like telling how serious things are and that failure is not an option, i think vic is green but gets the message i like to see him grow and become a worthy number one for penguin
The Penguin is truely The Great Deceiver
Kudos for that Big Pun bar! 🤣🍻
love the show and your breakdown.... i find the most interesting thing to me is the hangman mystery... i really feel like they are building a twist and i think sofia was framed... possibly by the therapist... its a very weird scene between them its to touchy and i think he might have altered her mind with the red light therapy.... just a thought but i cant wait to see how that storyline turns out... love the rest of the mafia style storyline they got going to but jus thought the hangman mystery is super interesting
3:58 such a good theory
The steel collars around the prisoner's necks are ridiculously large-they could easily slip them up and over their heads.
0:03 that suit fit cold af type shit 😤
Calling it now, Sophias going to find out that Vic and Penguin dumped her brothers body in thst trunk... Maybe a street cam or maybe she just squeezes it out of Vic. 😊
