Front pockets are on scrub top. Took side seam out and close to pocket area and sewed the seam to not ravel then measure distance from top to bottom of the opened area and cut the elastic top and bottom like a upside down V and sewed it all together with the seam out. Getting better as I go. So many of them to work on. Thank you for your video and replying.
Miss my Ruby so much. I'm glad she was in so many shots so i can see her again. I have 2 fluffy boys now, but neither have the drive to be celebs like she was! lol
For all those saying it's too fast - go to the settings and you can slow the vid down. Meanwhile am I the only one to have noticed the cat nomming something in the background? Too cute!
That was Ruby. She was getting pretty old when I did this video, and she wasn't eating much, so I always tried to have something close by to her napping places for when she felt good enough to eat. Miss my baby...
Hi Holly, I’m so glad to find your channel. My heart goes out to you with LDH’s (Long Distance Hug’s) for the loss of your precious Ruby💝. I empathize with you and just sending love, strength & comfort on good vibes💝🌻💐🌻❤️. Have a great Month💝
Exactly what I was looking for to fix some shirts I ordered, I ordered 2xl and I'd say they are a large at best with skinny arms. But, I love the material, they are loud and fun. 😎
Hi there, I'm just seeing your video. I'm in nursing school and literally just called a place that does alterations because my scrub top is tight fitted. I wish I could get a one on one class. Lol thanks for the video
Hey Holly, thanks for the quick walk through. I love the hack and chop method for cutting the side panels. I often have chunks bigger than my cutting table and use the folded technique.
M J I have a few coworkers who have the same problem LOL I know they have scrubs with the stretchy fabric on the sides for that problem, but for me and my co-workers that no longer matters because apparently we're getting uniforms.......... Yay.......... Lol not looking forward to it but I guess that's just the way work goes
It turned out REALLY REALLY cute!! great job.... and you are so cool - I love* "real people" ;) - I will totally try this technique thank you for being kind and uploading! New subbie! ♥ ps I saw the cat, too! so cute
Fast, but I get the idea. I'm trying to do the same thing. The scrub top I'm working on had vents and I was thinking I would have to put those back in, too. But I guess I can just widen the added piece toward the bottom more and stop pulling my hair out about those vents. Thanks!
It does make the bottle fit a little tighter fyi. You can maybe make the bottom section a little wider to compensate. It will just make the top have more of an A shape
I liked your tutorial on adding a sizing to a top however how do you do that to a scrub top that has pockets? I bought so elastic to resize scrub tops from a size extra large to 1 size bigger because I bought them the size I need but they are small at the belly area. I took the seam out from under arm to the pocket area. got a 2 inch elastic to add but does not figure out right like yours because the fabric comes out at top and where the pocket is smaller. Any ideas? I am not a professional but can learn fast.
not sure on the style of pockets you have but might be simple to just add the extra material likei do in the video and just sew up the sides with the pocket. just like the video. not sure how to explain it.
This is fantastic!! I have to alter a scrub top for my aunt. She needs it a bit bigger. My question is, what if she doesn’t want the arm portion bigger and just the sides, around her waist/mid section? Any tips you could give me would be amazing!!
sorry for the slow reply. probably to late now, but cut up the sides to the armpit and stop there, and just put a triangle piece instead, with the tip at the armpit and bigger at the bottom
Do you have any advice for adding space to the bust area? I have a few scrub tops that fit well everywhere other then the bust, they give me pancake boob 😆
Not at the moment but I can take a look at what I got and see what I can do. We've switched to uniforms at work and I've gotten rid of most of my scrub
I don't know for sure, but I would lay down a top that fits, and then the Medium one on top of it, then take a measuring tape and measure the the difference on the side. Don't forget to measure the fabric on the front AND the back side of the shirt. (and seam allowance!) For me the collar is still a little tight but survivable. one thing I did notice is my sleeves are bigger then they need to be with the 3inch extra. if you find your sleeves are TO big with the extra fabric you could taper down the fabric insert when you get to the armpits. hope that helps!
kim one_of_a_kind I saw a video where they literally cut the scrub to fit over the larger shirt and then sewed the cut piece to the correct size shirt. Kind of like a bib. Or the old school turtleneck dickies. Then they trimmed the rest to fit the scrub design. It turned out pretty sweet.
HandMade By Holly I have a scrub top that only needs the waist to hip made bigger. The sleeves and busy fit fine and are almost too loose. Would I use this technique but just cut lower?
well i didn't really spoil the 'technique', it just wasn't explained well enough for you to understand. I went into this video with the idea that who would be watching it had a basic knowledge of sewing. where to cut, fold and sew were all in there. It's alot harder to explain what your doing when you just kinda make it up as you go. Most things i've learned is just from doing it, I know what needs to be done but its hard to explain clearly how i get from A to B when I don't know myself. I did this really as a tryout for a redo of the 'How to make a hoodie bigger" video I did a few weeks back. I tried to explain what i was doing as best I could, but really I was just making it up as I went. I do plan to alter another scrub top in a different way someday. like adding in the black side panels without making it bigger. and also, black on black fabric doesn't help, lol
She didn't spoil the technique. She clearly told/showed how to open the sides of the top and insert a strip of fabric to make the top larger. Pretty straight forward. Excellent advice on how to open and finish sleeves and bottom hems. Often, like studying a book, watching more than once can lead to better understanding. Not unusual for this old brain to need to read or watch several times to grasp a concept. Better, IMO, to do that than to blame the author, especially when others praise the work. ---- Just food for thought, a year later.
@@StrangeLittleGarden I like written directions so I wrote out as you talked. Hope this helps those of us who like written directions. Measure length of dress/blouse from armhole DOWN. Cut piece of fabric 3 inch (width) by length plus 2 inches to adjust for hem. You will need 2 pieces this length. 3. Not in the medical field but your technique was so quick and easy, it will come in handy for some tops I have

Hey Holly, thanks for the quick walk through. I love the hack and chop method for cutting the side panels. I often have chunks bigger than my cutting table and use the folded technique.
You Go Girl!!! I wish they made better fitting ones for us busty girls. So many common scrubs seem to smash in all the wrong places... :(

Hey. Great video. Could these possibly be done on scrub pants? Butt and hip area don’t fit but from hip area down to ankle has a lot of excess fabric.
Oh ya!
I’m definitely going to try this with some scrub tops that are too tight on me! Thanks!
I though you had a train to catch lol 😆 Look forward to the up and coming 👍
*puts on shades* that's my natural speed ;)

I love it. It looks so simple. Thank you

Can’t tell where she was cutting. Although I get the general idea
Wow. Ty
Great idea ! But what is a scrub top ? Is it because you clean up in it ?
Scrub top and scrub pants usually are worn ar places love hosptial or vets or places like that. At least that is where I see them most
Looks good!
How can I take a medium up to a 3X? And study making 3 inch how many inches would I need to make it to a 3X coming from a medium?

Do you cut the underarms also or stop before you get to the underarm. I think im seeing that you cut it all the way but i want to make sure. Thanks
yep, i cut the entire side open. It makes the arm hole bigger, but I didn't fine it something that needed extra work to fix. good luck!

helpful video, please slow the video down for us visual learners.
EXCELLENT!
I cant follow this, it's way too fast, I cant find how to slow the vid down
on the screen down in the bottom left you should see a little daisy shaped wheel -- you can slow it down there! Good luck!
work it girl
ridiculously fast, couldn't follow, didn't learn a thing, can't see the point of spoiling what could have been a really handy technique.
