Likewise I shared this specific podcast with a friend who was not familiar with Dialectical Behavior Therapy by recalling how I saw this particular podcast a few times and the information here came in handy 😁💛
I must say you are doing a divine job. I am preparing my PhD research topic relating to DBT and now know why I want to work on DBT and feel eveb more curious and interest3d about it
So good.. so good! I started DBT at my treatment program. Understanding that I have to take action and be participating in my recovery and what I do really matters has made literally my whole life make more sense. Such a good skill set to learn!!! Thank you for these videos!
I agree. I am surprised of how many websites and videos there are that talk about DBT as a useful treatment but never explain how it works. This video does just that.
THERE IS NOTHING ETHICAL ABOUT PUTTING SOMEBODY THROUGH THIS THAT HAD NO IDEA IT WAS GOING TO HAPPEN YET THEIR INTUITION TOLD THEM SOMETHING WAS GOING ON AND THEY'VE BEEN ABLE TO PIECE TOGETHER CLUES AND THEY ARE QUESTIONING EVERYONE AND EVERYTHING AROUND THEM THERE IS NO ETHICAL IN THAT
And unfortunately with some people you just cannot fix this problem. I can only personally attest to myself from 6 to 18 I was forced into this kind of therapy I was forced on to medication forced into areas like group therapy which made me feel no better and continuously targeted I am now 30 and I can no longer trust doctors cuz I feel like you're trying to do a one size fits all can no longer trust society cuz you learn that all humans are horrible in the right circumstances for me personally this therapy never helped me I feel like it traumatized me more.
I’ve worked in healthcare… pre and in-hospital… and you’re not exaggerating this at all. From both sides of the bed rail, I can attest that the majority of “help” is shit. It really isn’t the help that most individuals who are struggling to adapt to this modern world, really need. I believe, as HARD as it is to do, listening to what your inner self is saying to do is the best way to go. For me, I have a HUGE stack of hardships on top of an already F’d up HSP brain, and the longer I go into my “post fire-rescue/RN” life, the more convinced I am of there simply being no options to “make it”. But deep within, the necessary but VERY hard thing to do is to get my brain away from all pharmaceuticals… mainly Kratom. It’s a relatively harmless and helpful choice for many, but I just know that because of how it binds to receptors in critical areas for me, my emotional regulation ability will never prosper whilst on it. So I HAVE to chance phasing it out, and hope that while doing so I don’t react so aggressively that I end up in trouble or alone completely. It sucks because mental health isn’t lucrative enough for the people who can not only financially provide resources for therapy, but also they likely can’t even sympathize with how it feels.
44:41 a secondary coping behavior such as SMOKING cigs?? "As long as they aren't using...." Um, that IS using hahaha Edit: otherwise, I feel the info and effort in this is simply outstanding. This is perfect for those who cannot afford consistent therapy, so thank you for this UA-cam gold.
And CBT and ACT....there is a LOT of overlap, but I think that is a good thing. DBT does focus a lot on internal experiences though, which ABA does not.
Okay so I have bpd. But I don't self harm and I don't have suicidal thoughts. I'm an atheist. I find everything idiotic. And I don't have friends not because I'm scared but because they waste my time and always want me to care about their stupid problems and I just don't.
You don’t owe anyone anything…you can be a friend but don’t let them bring you down. Misery loves company. But the way you wrote it, I agree with Priscilla.
QueenFriend, you might just be a self-aware person who notices how insane the world is, and not engaging in people's pity party drama mind games. If that's the case, congratulations, there's nothing wrong with you.

Sometimes you gotta teach yourself how to fish

This so so similar to ABA therapy

@@DocSnipes , DBT derives from CBT.

So u lack empathy maybe? Sorry to hear it 😥
You don’t owe anyone anything…you can be a friend but don’t let them bring you down. Misery loves company. But the way you wrote it, I agree with Priscilla.
Sounds more like narcissism.
Tho u need therapy, I’m noticing a lack of empathy , I’m not criticizing or judging jus sayin

Clients or patients🙄.
I work at a clinic, drs refer to them as patients, I refer to my psychotherapy people as clients. Doesn’t matter.
