  • A few weeks ago, I pulled a Piranha 140cc off of a Honda S65. The engine had no compression and no spark……..or I thought it had no spark. 🤦🏼 Check out todays video to see if I can get the engine to run.

    Mike keep putting out the videos. We are watching and appreciate each one you make. You saved the day for me by advising which wiring harness and other goodies to get for my Chinese 125cc manual engine I'm putting into a 78 CT90. This weekend is a good time to push that project forward. Thank you sir!

    Thanks Mike, fun video. I have done the same thing, not seeing an active spark. I adopted this policy. After seeing no spark, I put my finger on it for a confirmation test!. Sometimes I am shocked with the results. Thanks Mike.......

    Thanks for all u do. Watching urvideos, I seem to always learn something new. For that I really appreciate all the time u take to put together these informative videos.
    The more I watch the more I want to get an older Honda of my own. Think I may try to sell my 1970 rupp. I been collecting parts to fix it up some.

    I know this was a year ago but do you know if the head of the 140cc and the head of the 125cc is the same my 140 is having issues but I can’t find a 140 cylinder head only 125

    • @MiniBikeMike
      @MiniBikeMike  10 місяців тому

      Unfortunately, I don’t know. I have very little experience with the 140. I would think the 140 has a larger diameter piston and the smaller combustion area of the 125 would cause issues……but I don’t really know.

    What do you prefer/recommend, the Piranha 140cc, or the Lifan 140cc for reliability, power, and parts availability? Love the video. Thanks.

    Hello Mike,
    first, you have made a very good video!!
    Little question, does it start or run for some seconds with the broken top end?
    Greetings from Austria :D

    • @MiniBikeMike
      @MiniBikeMike  9 місяців тому

      No, this engine would not start, due to having zero compression caused by the bent valve.

    Any semi auto e start engines with displacement greater than 140cc (even a reliable Big Bore Kit)? I know the 190cc are manual and have no semi auto option…. Thanks so much!

    Great video, quick question. When you first turned it over with the valve covers off did it look like the valves were moving?

    • @MiniBikeMike
      @MiniBikeMike  Рік тому

      With the covers off, you’ll see the rocker arms move, but it’s tough to tell if the valves are moving with them. In my case, one valve was slightly bent, so it would open up, but not close completely. It was moving, but not with full range.

    • @skooter9473
      @skooter9473 Рік тому +1

      @MiniBikeMike thanks, I'm trying to narrow down my issue. I stated it yesterday and was adjusting the choke and it died. Now it has no compression and I can turn it over by hand. I took the valve covers off and when turning it over I can see they are moving.

    • @MiniBikeMike
      @MiniBikeMike  Рік тому

      @@skooter9473 When a valve stem bends, it usually right at the point where the stem meets the valve head. So, it will move thru 99% of its range. It’s that last 1%, when the valve is trying to seat, when it gets hung up. It will look like it’s moving full range.
      Two things I’d do:
      Check valve clearance on the rockers. Is one much larger than other? If so, that’s your bent valve.
      The other thing to try:
      Put engine at TDC, with no pressure on valves. Pull the spark plug and push air into the chamber. If a valve is hanging open, you’ll hear air, either thru carb or exhaust.

    bonjour le jeu aux soupapes se régle a l aide de lame d épaisseurs et non a l oeil ,il y a des écarts different pour l admission et l échappement ,pour votre moteur c est 0,05 for admition and 0,08 for exhaust soupape ,sinon vous allez endommagé le moteur a terme, et pour la soupape plié de l autres culasse c est dut a une tres grande acceleration dans une route ou chemin trop descendant ainsi votre soupape a plié dut au surégime de la route incliné, en tout cas bonne vidéo et bonne continuation

    On the drill chuck ! After you tighten the chuck as tight as you need, reverse the tightening of the chuck just a tad and listen for one click. That click locks the chuck in place so you can use the reverse and the chuck won't open.
