Hey dude, I'm new to your channel but I have a very curious question to ask ya. I bought a Kent Bayside (a beach cruiser bicycle) and was wanting to know if I could fit a 125cc Lifan/Jiangchang (or as I prefer to call it: Cheng Chung) in the frame. You think it'll work out smooth or will I possibly have to cut and grind?
I’m not familiar with those bikes, but I find it very unlikely that the Lifan would fit without serious modification to the frame. I would think that you would also need to switch to a motorcycle rear tire, I doubt the spokes on a bicycle rim could handle the torque of the Lifan.
This kit comes with CDI, coil, spark plug and a simple harness to let the engine run. If you want light, you would need a different harness from Trail Buddy. LAXEEM Wire Loom Magneto Coil CDI... www.amazon.com/dp/B07GBNCFBN?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
A tachometer would need to be hooked to the coil or spark plug wire, this plug wouldn’t register RPM’s. I have a video on the neutral switch and how each wire works.
Hey Mike, got my bike running. Would like to add lights. Do you have any videos that talk about the yellow and white wires coming off the engine. I know the green/pink wire is a grounding for a gear/neutral indicator. Would like to either charge a 12v battery or just run 12v LED lights off the wires if possible.
Stay tuned, just today I received a new shipment of wiring harnesses from Trail Buddy. I’ll be filming videos for a full harness with blinkers and a simpler harness for just headlight/taillight.
Hi friends. Can anyone please post a link to the shifter indicator ? I purchased one online but it came with 2 connectors attached, both of which did not fit the green plug. Thanks!!
So i have this zongshen 125 and the motor has 2 wire leads one is only for the cdi and the other has 5 wires. How this style of harness apply on this situation?

I’m in need of getting a new motor for a Honda Atc 90 would this one drop right in or would you not know. All I know it’s that the motor out of the ATC is the same in the CT90
The 90cc engines typically have a different bolt mounting pattern than the smaller Honda’s. I’m going to guess that this engine is not a direct bolt-in for your ATC.
Hey Mike, what type of oil are you running in these motors? What type of break in process do you do with these? You may have covered it in your old channel but I may have missed it. Keep on posting! These videos are so informative! Thank you sir!

@@fito6950 The flywheel has a slot for the woodruff key on the crankshaft. If you didn’t mess with the timing chain, you should be able to slide the flywheel back on and have no troubles.
How do you check the cam chain I bought this exact motor and it has zero compression! How do check the chain I took the valve cover off and the cam shaft doesn't move when kicked over
There is a 10mm bolt beside the spark plug. Take out that bolt and you can remove the round cover on the opposite side. Behind that cover is cam gear and chain.
Are you running lights? If not, don’t worry about the two yellow wires. You’ll need a run only harness. 12v simple harness, CDI, coil, etc amzn.to/3Wto1jZ
Those are your stator wires. They are part of a plate that is behind the flywheel. They are replaceable, you can purchase an entire stator plate that bolts right into place. It’s a fairly easy swap. Pull the flywheel…..remove the two screws that hold the plate on…..install the new plate/wires and reinstall the flywheel.

It’s really hard to diagnose any problems without having the bike in front of me, but it sounds like you have a bad voltage regulator. To power the headlight, run the yellow wire from the voltage regulator to your headlight switch.
Hey mike could you tell me what size bolts and thread they are for holding the engine to the stand? And do you sell those engine stands and for how much shipped? Thanks
Honda used M8x1.25 bolts. I believe the top bolt is 120mm long and the bottom is 115mm. 5/16” SAE bolts will work in a pinch, just a tad sloppy. At this time, I’m too busy working full time to build any more stands. Sorry.

@@MiniBikeMike thanks for the reply. That, I don’t know yet. That’s a good idea though I may just order a new set of parts and work my way backwards from the plug replacing the coil then cdi then stator sequentially and see what it is
I did read a few comments on Amazon where sometimes the parts didn’t work out of the box and some people had them fail after an hour or so similar to my situation. Maybe just got unlucky twice!
@@samygab16 perhaps some of the parts you are replacing still work
Hey Mike I am sure you've answered this but I can't seem to find where. Who do you buy your engines from? I'm looking at Amazon and T-Bolt and wondering if is it worth the extra to go through T-Bolt or is it really all the same? Thanks!!! Really enjoy the channel!

What a good video I don’t get y the cdi box plugs into the gear box thing..
@@dennisdomonic8779 It is a very common mistake, to plug the CDI into the gear indicator plug. Having them both a green color didn’t help either.
I only got a blue and white and green cables from the stator. Dont have a black and red. Ive tried everything but still cant get it to get spark so thats alot of fun
A new complete stator is $15 on Amazon.
@@MiniBikeMike You see thats the problem. Its the same original stator. It started before I got the bike but when I got a new stator it wouldnt get any spark. And didnt find any cables going from the CDI on it
Hey dude, I'm new to your channel but I have a very curious question to ask ya.
You are a GURU
👍🏻
Awesome video, i just bought a 125 cc zhongshen engine, but i did not come with wiring harness. Where should i buy it?
This kit comes with CDI, coil, spark plug and a simple harness to let the engine run. If you want light, you would need a different harness from Trail Buddy.

Thank you so much
Pretty cool
Thanks to the point video no nonsense
Hope it helped! Thanks for watching.
Can you please make a video how to connect the green connector (10:40) to a gear indicator or tachometer?
A tachometer would need to be hooked to the coil or spark plug wire, this plug wouldn’t register RPM’s. I have a video on the neutral switch and how each wire works.
Where could I find a speedometer like the one you described for the other plug
eBay. They also have stand alone gear indicators.

It will be easier to show in a video, rather than type out a long explanation. Video will post early next week.
Nice video great help
Thanks!
Yo, what are the mounting hole dimensions?
i would really like to see this for a 12V motor on a CT70 with lights and blinkers.
Also would like to see one utilizing lights and blinkers too!
Stay tuned, just today I received a new shipment of wiring harnesses from Trail Buddy. I’ll be filming videos for a full harness with blinkers and a simpler harness for just headlight/taillight.
@@MiniBikeMike awesome! I got the traio buddy TB422 universal harness but still need to get the CDI, rectifier and relays. Can't wait for the video 🤙🏼
Hi where could I purchase a engine stand like yours thank you
Hi friends. Can anyone please post a link to the shifter indicator ? I purchased one online but it came with 2 connectors attached, both of which did not fit the green plug. Thanks!!
Thanks man i appreciate k
So i have this zongshen 125 and the motor has 2 wire leads one is only for the cdi and the other has 5 wires. How this style of harness apply on this situation?
What you’re calling the lead for the CDI is most likely a gear indicator harness. Ignore that harness and use the setup I have in this video.
Could you pls answer a question? If the key is off an the kill switch is off an the red side of battery is hooked to all the maddog shit wiring an on the black side a cable is grounded to the frame an make contact with negative terminal why does motor turn over
Where's these supply companies at. Here in Forsaken: 80631, it's pretty hard to find do it yourself, open minded people. That would rather make than buy.
It's really informative and interesting.
Thank You.

Nice job a start my ct 70
Thanks!
I typically use Honda GN4 or Valvoline 10w-40 four stroke oil. As for break in, I don’t do anything special and I’ve never had a problem.
@@MiniBikeMike awesome!
Hopefully the 3 wires used is same as on yx 160cc pitbike engine and will work for me , just want bike to run
I’ve not owned a YX160. Hopefully, this works for you.
How is the motor holding up? I picked up several and I think they are a good piece.
I’m a big fan of Lifan based engines. I’ve used over 60 of them in bikes I’ve built. I have a couple friends who each have over 15,000 miles on their Lifan powered bikes. The most I’ve put on one is 8000+ and still going. These are the most reliable aftermarket engine available.
I swaped from a 50 cc to a 125 the stator in the 125 in a 4 loom plug the harness on my bike is a five loom. It cranks over and everything I got lights and what not but I got nooo spark ?
how much power does it deliver joe?
Just installed the same engine on a 125cc pit bike frame what kind of clutch cable do you use or where do you get one to fit that specific engine. I have purchased several clutch cables and none of them seem to be the right fit

Awesome video. My gear position wires were frying once i was tryibg to crank. Does this affect the motor in any way if i leave disconnected ? Inside chinese Go kart
I leave them disconnected and have never had a problem.
@@MiniBikeMike Great. Does the flywheel have to be realligned with any sort of timing durint reinstalling the stator?
@@fito6950 The flywheel has a slot for the woodruff key on the crankshaft. If you didn’t mess with the timing chain, you should be able to slide the flywheel back on and have no troubles.
Thanks a lot!
That seems simple enough. I need to buy one for my K1 frame, and use the original 70cc engines for the K0s. Thanks
It really is very simple.
Will it hurt the charging system if you run it without being hooked to anything? Referring to the two yellow wires.
No, not at all.
what is that harness called? im only findind ones that have a starter? also my engine has 2 yellows do i eliminate those 2 yellow ones
Are you running lights? If not, don’t worry about the two yellow wires. You’ll need a run only harness.
12v simple harness, CDI, coil, etc
amzn.to/3Wto1jZ
Whats the wires/part called coming out of the engine and can you replace them or do you have to get a new engine
Hello my friend Mike I hope all is well??? I have a question please I have a October 1969 Honda CT70 candy gold I bought it last April 2020 I put almost everything new with a Big Bore high performance 125 Lifan engine with a 4-speed automatic transmission on the floor I hired a scooter shop to install my engine and get it running they charged me $750 I made a mess out of my bike and broke all kinds of parts so I just picked up my bike I tried to finish it myself no my battery is not getting charged only my tail light on and brake light but that's it I charge my battery in a few days it will kill it but it runs part near-perfect LOL I can't figure it out for the life of me now the motorcycle shops around here in the San Francisco Bay Area San Jose Northern California won't touch my bike they say it's too old if they break something they have to replace it so they'd rather not mess with it I would be so happy if I can get my bike to charge my battery I have to hotwire my headlight so it will work then they blew out the bulb and I had to buy another one for $12 oh well LOL please please help with advice thanks Mikey you're the best I love all your videos Man I'm so glad you're back I really look up to you and everything you say and do you are truly a gentleman and a scholar and a professional motorcycle mechanic at least in my eyes LOL you're the best Mikey take care of brother man will wait patiently for your answer good day my friend and keep building stuff we are loving it
It’s really hard to diagnose any problems without having the bike in front of me, but it sounds like you have a bad voltage regulator. To power the headlight, run the yellow wire from the voltage regulator to your headlight switch.
and i learn so much heare
Hey mike could you tell me what size bolts and thread they are for holding the engine to the stand? And do you sell those engine stands and for how much shipped? Thanks
Honda used M8x1.25 bolts. I believe the top bolt is 120mm long and the bottom is 115mm. 5/16” SAE bolts will work in a pinch, just a tad sloppy.
At this time, I’m too busy working full time to build any more stands. Sorry.
@@MiniBikeMike that’s ok with the stand and thanks for the feedback. Also would those bolts than work on the Lifan 125 engines as well? Thanks
@@dannymotovlogs4254 Yes, the Lifan is an almost exact replica of the original Honda engine….just a bigger bore and stroke.

Is the clutch slightly engaged? Sounds like the clutch is slipping.

Do you need a rectifier if you plan on adding lights ?
Yep. Most Lifan’s need a 12v half wave regulator.
Hi,
Do you know if my Honda c90 side caseings will fit on that engine?
Regards
I do not know, but would be highly surprised, if they did.
Do you have a video showing how to hook up lights to this?
Lots of wiring videos on my channel. Search for Trail Buddy TB422, if you have turn signals. Search for TB515, if no turn signals.
