I live in nearby Grass Valley, and tried to become a docent at the NCNG Museum. I had NO idea at all that this had happened, but they freakin' did it! Operational narrow gauge steam has finally come back to my backyard.
Great video! Anyone know for sure what weight rail they are using there? Love the whistle on the 0-4-0T anyone know the size and make of whistle that is?
@shawnkaelin6734 I don't know much about the technical details of the whistle, but it is very historical. It came off the S.S. Tahoe steamboat, which interchanged passengers with the Lake Tahoe Railway. There are pictures of the ship docked at the pier beside the Glenbrook locomotive! If I can find more info about it I'll comment again.
@BrysonorRed It sure sounds and looks like a Powell. I'll agree with you, Powell 3-chimes are among my most favorite whistles too. There's a magnificent audio sequence of one on Rayonier 2-6-6-2 #120 in Stan Kistlers "Whistles in the Woods" record.
Excellent video- great quality. Nothing like seeing these locomotives in action! Thank you so much!
