A Day on the Disneyland Railroad: Morning to Midnight with the C.K. Holliday!
Welcome aboard the Disneyland Railroad! It is a warm summer day in Anaheim, CA, as we pay a visit to this well-known narrow gauge line, which is uniquely historic in its own right. The locomotives seen in this video are No. 1, the "C.K. Holliday", and the No. 3, the "Fred Gurley". We take a ride behind the "C.K. Holliday" in the morning, on a full loop around the Magic Kingdom, providing a good view of the park's many other attractions. Well after sundown, we hop aboard behind the "Holliday" again on the final run at midnight sharp, offering a distinctly different and exciting experience from the daytime trek! Listen to the stack talk, see the sparks fly and fire flicker, and enjoy the whistling of No. 1 at her finest!
The DLRR is not the easiest railroad to film trackside; nonetheless, we catch both No. 1 and No. 3 at a few locations, such as Main Street, Toontown, and beside "It's A Small World." There's a lot to see in this next video from The Train Tracker... sit back, relax, and enjoy! Have a blessed day, and please consider liking, sharing, and subscribing.

Big Boy in California: UP 4014 at the Western Pacific Railroad Museum!

In July of 2024, a massive steam locomotive never before seen in Northern California rolled into Portola, on the old Western Pacific Railroad mainline. That's right folks, it was the fabled Big Boy #4014, a gargantuan 4-8-8-4 built by ALCO for Union Pacific in November of 1941. Originally these engines were to be given the title "Wasatch", after the Utah mountain range through which they would ...

Nevada northern would DEFINITELY be ideal place to restore her or st least comestic
@nicholasmedovich8691 I do agree the NN would be the best nearby place to do it if anyone could. No. 4442 deserves some TLC. Thanks for your comment!
Nice video
Thank you Steve!
I would love to see more of your Layout with all the locos and things you got! Also Nice Job putting 3:16 at the end :}
@RioGrandeMan-c5r Thank you! A full length video covering my garden railroad, the equipment, and the construction process is definitely in the works. I look forward to sharing that one with you all. I love John 3:16, because it sums up the whole reason for this season. Thanks for your comment!
Hmmmm, I think you will need 4-6 locomotives if you get much snow.
It would be awesome to run an authentic snowfighting train like the old days! There would be a lot of work needed to make that happen, and even on the original NCNG there wasn't enough snowfall to justify many snowfighting trains. Who knows, maybe one day. Never hurts to dream a little right? Thanks for commenting!
A nice railroad
Nice locomotive . what happened to the other one.steamer
California Western 45 is not operational at present, but as Stathi said in the interview, ultimately their goal is to get her running again in the near future. Thanks for your comment!
Love it! Can’t wait to see what’s nexts
Thanks for your kind comment! I look forward to sharing future content with you all.
Great video! Nice job!

Imagine hearing this while hiking in a winter forest Better be the polar express
Gotta love #28's famous "Cannonball" whistle. She'd make a good "Polar Express" too. Thanks for your comment!
I didn’t know there was a redwoods train. Sign me up!
There are two others, Roaring Camp in Felton and Redwood Valley Railway in the Berkeley hills
God I'm glad I got to see this....beautiful work and skilled craftsman...your all an honor to your forbearers and those that taught you what these items mean to history ❤️
Been here over 20 years and this is the first I've heard of this museum. I'm surprised that my sons never did a field trip - Maybe Pleasant Ridge isn't interested in the history of rail in Nevada County?
The museum opened in the early 2000s, and has been a fixture in the area since. They've gained more publicity since their No. 5 returned to steam though. I highly recommend a visit! Thank you for commenting.
Beau From Big World Big Adventures
I’ve got to get out there next year also your videos are the best keep up the get work!
Thank you so much for your kind comment! It is greatly appreciated. Glad you enjoy!
@@thetraintracker Are you going to 150 Baldwin birthday at the nevada state railroad museum and the 50th birthday of the reopening of the Sumpter Valley Railroad? Just asking as theres going to be a lot of steam at both with Nevada having NCNG #5 and Glendbrook and Stumpter have SP 18 and hopefully Eureka.
@RioGrandeMan-c5r I definitely hope to be at the Baldwin birthday party! That will be very exciting with Tahoe, Glenbrook, Eureka and Inyo all under steam. If possible I would like to make it to the SVRR as well. There's a lot of fun things in store for steam railroading in the near future!
@@thetraintracker And I can't wait to see what you put out next
Sure is a shame knowing the Sugar Cane Train stopped operating in 2014 and and as of 2024, there are still no signs of it returning. Still, I do feel glad I got to visit them in 2009 and 2012. Though I do hope whatever the future holds, both engines and the rolling stock will either see use somewhere else or be put in a museum as it’s just sad they’re rusting away in a yard just collecting dust.
Is the locomotive a Plymouth switcher? 🚂🚃🚃🚃
@KenSeguin-ur9zb Yes, No. 581 is indeed a Plymouth switcher. If you are interested in more details on the locomotive, check out the video description. Thank you for your comment!
Beautiful job! You really captured the essence of the day!
Thank you Tim! So glad you enjoyed watching.
Great job on your video! Nice footage of the trains at their best. Lots of great angles and views not regularly seen.
Thanks Brian! Glad you enjoyed, and thanks for commenting.
That’s such a beautiful operation. I’d love to make it down there someday. I wonder if the home built locomotive is still around somewhere. It was surprising to see the pilot truck lift off the rails at 23:56
OMG Your right
The railroad is indeed located in a beautiful setting, especially this time of year. The meadow and woods have previously been the scene of weddings and other events too. I sure hope you get a chance to visit in the future! The homebuilt engine you reference, No. 13, was recently sold to a private individual by the museum. As for the pilot truck, the curve is extremely tight for a 3' gauge railroad. At one time in the past, there was a private 2' gauge operation here and when the previous owners decided to run 3' train, they simply widened the rails since their engine had a very short wheelbase. No. 5 is quite a bit longer than the former engine was. The museum would love to rebuild the track in the future, as funding and other factors allow. The operation is very safe though, especially since guard rails have been installed and adjustments to the curve were made specifically for No. 5. Thanks for commenting!
I wish to see these engines once again, even though I visited the NCNGRR museum 3 months ago. Great collection of clips
Thanks for your comment! It is always a thrill to see them in person, and I hope you come up again next year.
My boys and I were there. I hope they do another meet very soon
@ScottRuen Thank you for your comment! Glad you and your boys were able to go, it was a fun event. There are tentatively special plans in the works for next year... keep your eye out for news.
Excellent video- great quality. Nothing like seeing these locomotives in action! Thank you so much!

Well done! Great photography and history!!!👍🏻

When will steam return to Jamestown?
@GoldenStateTrains Unfortunately I'm unaware of when steam will be back at Jamestown. I think your best bet is to keep in contact with Railtown and check in with them now and then. I thought I heard they want to have Sierra 3 back up and running later in 2025, but that could change. Thanks for your comment.
a friend of mine and his friend were at the entire 3 days . they were besidse themselves .
@drewbarker8504 Yes, Tahoe is a very impressive machine. Oldest running narrow gauge engine in the country, and third oldest of any gauge in the US. The museum did a marvelous job of restoring her. Thank you for watching and commenting!
Another fantastic piece. Tahoe really does have an angry bark when she’s in the corner. What a gem.
@drewbarker8504 Agreed, gotta love that stack talk! Thanks for your comment.
@@thetraintracker no problem! We have to charity some of these touched-up pre-1900!black-painted and “modernized” gems whilst they’re still around. It’s a literally window into the past ❤
The Tahoe is a real gem, and they’ve done such a good job restoring it. (And such a good comparison to see what the Glenbrook would look like in “modernized” form-but still with her fancy domes.)
Hey guys! Typically I try to steer away from adding music to my content unless it is done in a tasteful way and/or the original audio has substantial background noise. In the case of the car barn tour in this video, I was unable to use the original audio to due numerous factors and I ended up having to add some music to this part. With that said, I hope you all enjoy and thanks for watching!
I first attended Knott's in 1960 as a 5 year old. I already loved anything train and the Knott's became a favorite. I am so happy they still have the railroad in the park. In my youth I was an engineer on the Carowinds theme park railroad. Also a 3ft train with two steam locos, one of which runs in CA after Carowinds removed the railroad. My dream for Knott's is to extend the track across Western Ave (close or tunnel like Disney did) This would give the train a much better run. But doubt anything will happen.....be happy it's still there. Thx
@davevan8864 Thank you for sharing your story! Yes, it is wonderful they not only continue to operate the railroad, but preserve and maintain the equipment in a historically accurate way. Thank you for watching and commenting!
Great video so glad I found this channel

Is there a schedule for when the narrow gauge train runs at the theme park?
Every day when the park is open in the summer. In the off season The galloping goose runs on the weekdays while steam is used on the weekends. Once the train is loaded they send it out, it is about a 10 minute trip.
@@MrRGS41 alright thank you! Hope to visit Knott’s Berry Farm one day

Nice railroad . planning to visit
This is beautiful
I live in nearby Grass Valley, and tried to become a docent at the NCNG Museum. I had NO idea at all that this had happened, but they freakin' did it! Operational narrow gauge steam has finally come back to my backyard.
Aww... such a cute little locomotive! I wonder if restoration to working order could ever happen? Can't help myself- I'd love to see them all run again! Didn't see a builder's plate, so just guessing- is Betsy a Davenport? Anyone know?
@shaunbolton4662 This locomotive was built by Vulcan in 1906. Betsy is a pretty cute loco. I too would love to see her run but unfortunately, I don't think that will happen anytime soon... if you know where to look though, there a quite a few similar locos in running condition out there.
It wouldn't be impossible but it would definitely take a lot of money plus I don't think Betsy would be able to pull too many cars it might only be able to pull one. However you can drive an engine similar to this also called Betsy in railroads online
This event was the reason why my interest on narrow gauge increased more than ever! Although I wasn’t experienced with photos and wasn’t familiar with the locations, it was amazing to finally see SP 18 for the first time
