Always feels nice to have a low grocery week! I used to only have that much to spend every week for 2 adults and 2 kids. That gets rough after the pantry staples start diminishing! But it was (barely) doable.
The Conscientious Eater oh yes, definitely, this was a few years ago :) I still am a budget homemaker, but I don’t have to stress over such a tiny budget anymore 😅
Thank you so much for making these videos. It's so inspiring. I really need to tighten our grocery budget, and you gave some great tips. I'm not vegan, but have been eating a lot more vegan/vegetarian meals, and I've been watching a few of your videos for even more ideas. Thanks again!
Thanks for the awesome tips! It seems so obvious but I never thought to go through the items I do have first and then plan my week around it. I’m so bad for buying too much random stuff so this helps a lot!
In case you're interested in Australia these two lovely ladies started a blog called Simple Savings and put out a book called The $21 Challenge, it's amazing! :) The idea is basically what this girl did, checking what you have first, making a list of what you'll make and then only buying the extra items that you'll need after all of that. The amount was $21 because it originated from a story about a lady who went to her husband saying she needed to go to the grocery store and buy food for the week, and so he reached into his pocket and pulled out a $20 note. Then she dug around in her purse I think it was and found another $1 coin, and so was born the $21 Challenge! :) She had two teenage boys also I think at the time so it was quite challenging, but she did it! The book has so many great affordable meal ideas as well as budget tips, how to set goals for the year etc, really well put together and very insightful, just love it! At the back it also has a section on how to substitute different items that are more easily accessible so that you don't feel the need to go and buy that one extra item that will break the bank, so definitely recommend purchasing this book or borrowing it from a friend if you know anyone who has it, fantastic concept and worth it's weight in gold! :)

I'm sure that was difficult! I hope you've been able to restock the pantry since then!
