I still hate how Bungie robbed Two Tailed as a viable DPS option when they changed the RoF for the catys 3rd rocket. Most exotics get their 15 minutes of fame, but Two Tailed only got 5 and it was unjustifiable for a change as drastic as that. Can you imagine the rocket meta with Gally, DBreath, Apex, Crux and TTF swap rotations? It would have been pure bliss. Especially with TTF applying void weaken or suppression effects just by using it with certain artifact mods. Im not a huge stan of TTF but i will always back it when i say that Bungie dropped the bag with the change they gave it. Think Anakin not being a master levels of disappointment and frustration.
@@ginjadingo2941 Yeah the jolt went from like around 17,000 damage to around 4,000 which is a 76% nerf. And since it’s dps was lower than legendary rockets, that jolt was the only reason to use it in endgame content.
@warv6552 Back when the caty first dropped and people put in the grind to unlock and use it, TTF was putting up some competitive numbers, despite the jolt being out of band. It was just as easy to use as any other rocket, and if you used strand grenades that by-passed the reload, which most people were doing with gally swaps and legendary rockets to begin with. That Thump-Thump TTF had knowing you sent a 3rd rocket for extra damage was bliss. Now it's Thump-Thump-Thump, which tanks the RoF and DPS. It was so sad of a change.
@@BuckShot456789 Without the extra damage jolt it’s damage couldn’t really compare to pack Hunter lengdaries. It’s only real place was in niche solo situations like Solo prophecy speedrun on Kell Echo esp since the season that they nerfed jolt was the same season Apex Predator got refreshed and basically made every other rocket irrelevant, as well as them changing surge mods so that 3x void weapon boosts no longer benefited all 3 rockets essentially meant TTF had 1 single season where it was a competitive damage option. By the time they changed the fire rate it was basically already dead but apparently they thought it needed another nerf so now it’s dead.
While I understand that it makes for less overt skill expression, I am a little glad that the balance of the meta is moving away from high-APM swap DPS rotations and toward more simple, consistent DPS strategies that the average player can learn. Having clear-cut options that are easy to pick up and roll with really helps newer players, and that's something I can appreciate as an aspiring Sherpa. It also helps cut down on a lot of the toxic mentalities of some of the more elitist players; swap DPS still exists for players who find joy in optimizing their routes and perfecting combos, but there's a lot less "You should have already learned the optimal frame-perfect swap rotations or we're kicking you from the LFG even though you've only played for a month" situations, and I view that as an overall positive.
The nice part with euphony though is that its a special weapon with good damage but its also really good at clearing rooms with a semi decent strand/prismatic build if you build into threadlings a bit so the damage is more of a secondary part of it imo. Also just looks sick.
Ive been getting back into Destiny 2 and although I've lost interest in endgame content I still find these videos entertaining. Also, hearing Lament and heavy linears have fell off a cliff is geneuinely upsetting. Cataclysmic was my go to throughout the whole of Witch Queen too.
One note about Bastion, it performs amazingly with Wishful Ignorance, as the Wishful melee dmg buff last long enough to continue stacking it even after shooting Bastion again. So if you just Bastion - Punch continuously you'll constantly habe the trench barrel buff + you'll even further buff the Wishful punches.
Great video. Cant wait to see if OG Verity options can still beat prismatic Veritys (Inmost light/Apotheosis/...). Especially without the teammate buff on the Spirits
I've found for me, witness DMG on warlock or titan I'm running parasite and ikelos sniper with a solar holster. I use up 12 parasite shots and almost all of my sniper reserves. At first I thought parasite was a non starter on witness as he is floating and further away, but you can do really good total DMG and it's a pretty chill swap that you can hip fire/quickscope with and never kill yourself from teammates jumping around. I fire the first x20 shot at witness, then 5 sniper shots. Because holsters are wack, each consecutive swap takes less time, but usually I'm jumping around so even with sub optimal 4 shots per. Highest I was able to do in a single DPS phase was 3,750,000 without any debuffs. I also have tons of ammo so I can instakill the subjugators if they are bothering ppl too much. Edit: i knew Euphony was overhyped.
@@pupperaccinoI might give it a try, but considering it literally requires you to be hardscoped, it seems like a good way to get kicked from LFGs for dying multiple times in a DMG phase by thinking you are out of the blasts.
Ty for the numbers again :) i can definitely speak for acrius with it's ease of use and very good damage, was doing salvations edge for the first time and everyone else was on swords while i was on acrius for herald of finality, and i was always at double the damage of everyone else at the wipe screen. I was also wondering if cloudstrike+crux with hazardous propulsion is a viable dps option for stuff like witness (im a titan main so i don't have access to celestial) and i was relieved to see you recommending it. Keep up the great work you do for this community
Man, I could feel the dive linears had taken, but I didn't realize just how grim it was. Hopefully they're adjusted soon since they take at least a bit more aim than most of the other options.
Something I'd add about Microcosm that makes it IMHO a better option for a lot of people than other things that are mathematically better than it specifically against Witness is that It's pretty common in my experience to be able to completely empty its reserves in a damage phase, giving its higher total damage a bit more weight. Obviously you could dump an edge transit and then use something else for the remainder of the dps phase, but as far as lazy witness dps I think microcosm it's the best bet for more inexperienced people
Damn bastion is looking really nice for solo dungeons. Good at nuking a major, synergizes with a lot of the common melee-based builds, decent boss damage. Could def see it being pretty good on something like gahlran where damage phases run long
I've been messing around with Tessellation because it could technically mean your entire loadout can match a surge, I've been using it with Scatter Signal and an ALH BnS Cataphract and I'm pretty confident its not meta, but with a preloaded alt-fire shot it is pretty funny to have a loadout thats fully surge matching.
The gist is what everyone thinks of when they think “what is the best damage” is what is statistically the best. However, the best to use is what ever your can be consistent with. Missing just one shot, reload or what ever in the “best” category can tank their numbers. For this something like Microcosm will be the best option for many. It’s dummy proof and extremely forgiving… even if it’s the lowest of the “easy options (but miss a crit with Whisper so you have to reload or Levi so you don’t have Archer’s Tempo and see how much it tanks and even messes up many players because they’re pulled out of the tempo and it makes them miss more).”
i still think that the darci buff a while back should not have been jolt, which essentially made it a heavy ammo cloudstrike, but instead give it the ability to scan the type of champions and then apply that type after a second or so, thus giving us a choice between burst heavy or that.
It's weird that we talk about still hunt as "Still hunt with nighthawk" but we compare it to euphony on it's own. Euphony apex swap with apotheosis veil can outdamage a still hunt apex swap. Done it multiple times and consistently do more damage with that than with still hunt + celestial
An equal comparison would be adding an additional Nighthawk Goldie in front of the SH option then, and that would skew things even further towards SH, Apotheosis doesn't affect the Spindle stack rate compared to what's in the spreadsheet, and it definitely doesn't outdamage SH
@@TheAegisRelic can hit 10.5 mil with it on still hunt on the witness in 2 phases + final stand, most I've seen from SH NH is around the same if not less. So the numbers on this spreadsheet gotta be off somehow. other than that sick video
@@lumayne8829 Comparing against random people in an uncontrolled environment using wipe screen numbers after 2 phases + final isn't a good way to test DPS
@@TheAegisRelic I mean testing DPS in a DPS phase over 30 clears each having at LEAST one hunter but some having 5, I personally think is a lot better way to test it
I really want to know what that one Bungie dev was smoking when they were so confident with that quote "we think more people will be using Truth when The Final Shape is out". The last time I remember Truth being any sort of play was for very particular speed run strats in certain legend lost sectors in Beyond Light and even then it wasn't really mandatory.
Would you mind testing Microcosm + Hazardous Propulsion? If you have a Song of Flame warlock alongside you, you pretty much have 100% uptime on your Thruster, and you can stack the rockets really quickly with Microcosm. I've been using it for Witness DPS, and it's a pretty easy-to-use option that can still pump out huge numbers.
Wow, so even though still hunt is still a beast it wasn't the kind of beast I thought it was. Still could probably use some tuning so it isn't literally pushing other swap options out of contention, but good to know that it isn't anihalating the heavy slot like people have been saying it has.
Ager's with Icefall mantle is very good for Titans to use during a stasis surge since Behemoth doesn't work on anything further than 10 feet than you, ran it on the Arc/Stasis pantheon and almost always topped out damage while using it with a half decent Cold Comfort. If Pantheon comes back keep that combo in your pocket for Caretaker and Explicator.
It is unfortunate but stasis has the single worst choice of weapons for DPS, the only one that stands out really only being Cold Comfort. Good thing that there's always at least 2 surges available for any activity. :)
Microcosm = the intangible - you don’t blow yourself up ever - Hunter’s dodge in front of you, Titans drop barricades for no reason in front of you. Adds jump in front of you, etc etc. No problem, you just keep on shredding. That’s why it’s so much better than just the numbers.
Having the state of heavy linears quantified like this makes me sad. I knew they were bad but I didn’t know they were that bad. Still gonna hold on to my scintillation in case Bungie gives them the buff they so desperately need
It would be cool to see how the scorching rounds from song of flame works with better kinetic weapons like outbreak, supremacy, microcasm, bastion, lucky pants.
@@TheAegisRelic yeah it seems scorch rounds only proc every so often depending on the weapon type so it probably isnt substantial. The only other thing that would possibly work would be if swapping weapons resets the timer. Even then the only real world benefit might be for a dragonsbreath rotation but i feel like song of flame + apotheosis veil probably do the best or close to the best damage and is far easier to pull off than some wild swap stuff
I wish Bungie would push Queenbreaker more into its utility roll. AOE instant blind is fantastic utility for GMs, even if it's damage is lacking. Blind is one of the strongest elemental debuffs in the game and having a way to apply it very easily is nice.
The one place I really like 4th times retrofit for is final boss of Warlords ruin. A boss that is very easy to crit, and has enough seperate phases that you can reasonably actually make use of the total reserves
Linears still have some place, it’s very very niche but for me at least they’re a safe dps option for solo flawless dungeons when you’ve got to be careful about accidentally blowing yourself up. Might just be a skill issue on my part, but I’ve been using scintillation for the ogre in warlords, since I’ve been having trouble with either the boss getting too close, or taken thrall getting in my face causing me to explode if I’m using my cataphract and it hits them. The thing isn’t it being strong for damage, it’s more just for safety. If it’s just a normal run though you bet I’m sticking with a GL
@@TheAegisRelic I had done testing with the two last season, ran everything raw- no surges, seasonal artifacts or mods. Heart Shadow was surprisingly on top of Lament by quite a bit as were a whole slew of other swords. Note: I'm also no where near professional as you are with your testing and data. I did test them pretty extensively to the best of my ability tho.
Heartshadow has built-in weaken and Lament doesn't, so that's probably why Heartshadow came out on top - these numbers assume both have a 30% debuff (Tractor) :P
God I hope jolt is added to arnarchy. Sure it wouldn't add too much extra damage, but it would make it much better at ad clear while making it great for overload champs
Have you tested ill omen with attrition orbs? It keeps radiant, argent ordinance, and surges active. If with 6 of them you can get another super off in a phase then it could be very good
I have a deep sorrow and yearning for the return of my acrius. I never bothered to do acrius' quest back when leviathan raid was still in the game, I got the weak version of it that only had one shell in the barrel and the quest made it into the real acrius. Bungi forcibly took my beloved acrius after the sunsetting and I now have to farm spoils to reunite with my Traveller-given acrius. I have regret. Let this be a warning for those procrastinating on quests.
One combo I've been trying is Euphony swapping to Cataphract with ALH + Cascade point. Curious on your thoughts if you've tried it. The cascade point lets you dump the mag and get back to Euphony before the spindle stacks fall off.
Some small notes:

Love your work! Thank you so much for everything youve done for the community.
Gods work. Thank you Aegis. The wait for your content is always worthwhile.
Honestly there's always been easy DPS options but I'm all for option diversity which there's more of now
Our data analyst cooked hard, thanks for the work. Can't wait for part 2 !
These videos really help put things into mathematical perspective. Thanks for the work you do, although gruelling.
my goat is back with more funny numbers so I can pretend to know what I'm doing
The nice part with euphony though is that its a special weapon with good damage but its also really good at clearing rooms with a semi decent strand/prismatic build if you build into threadlings a bit so the damage is more of a secondary part of it imo. Also just looks sick.
Aegis, as always great video! Thanks for doing this for the community.
Let's go I don't have to think now. Tysm cutie
I'll add it to the list
kneel for the king
tongue out or nah
Great video. Cant wait to see if OG Verity options can still beat prismatic Veritys (Inmost light/Apotheosis/...). Especially without the teammate buff on the Spirits
I need to see this Eriana’s Lucky Pants rotation ASAP
Pack Hunter also makes proc'ing Attrition Orbs easier, I was making orbs nonstop at Herald
really early into the video still but I'm happy to see that lost signal is competitive with witherhoard
wow! I love airgow soom!
You're amazing, man. This has got to be so much work
It is indeed, but the work's been done for a while, now I'm just turning it all into videos :P
Thanks for the numbers.
Whisper ez 4-5 million on Witness. Very good if not playing hunter, best on warlock due to pre-popping nova.
@@pupperaccinoI might give it a try, but considering it literally requires you to be hardscoped, it seems like a good way to get kicked from LFGs for dying multiple times in a DMG phase by thinking you are out of the blasts.
@@yourbrojohno I've found that dodging the lasers is a good option
Which sniper do you pair with Parasite?
Love the work you do, thanks for everything you provide the Destiny community.❤
love your content, so valuable. thanks again!
Appreciate you. Excited for your thoughts on Song of Flame, star eater Song of Flame, and Song of Flame with a demo GL/rocket.
Something I'd add about Microcosm that makes it IMHO a better option for a lot of people than other things that are mathematically better than it specifically against Witness is that It's pretty common in my experience to be able to completely empty its reserves in a damage phase, giving its higher total damage a bit more weight.
Obviously you could dump an edge transit and then use something else for the remainder of the dps phase, but as far as lazy witness dps I think microcosm it's the best bet for more inexperienced people
Ergah Soom 🗣️🗣️🗣️🔥🔥🔥
L video didnt try out 6x rat king (nah jk thanks so much for making the best videos, really carrying the community on your back)
Damn bastion is looking really nice for solo dungeons.
I love how the second clip shows the rendering issue that Bungo STILL HASN’T FIXED.
Holy wowza all that stream time coming together to make one saucy dmg explanation papa aegis is spoiling me today
grand overture, people always doubted it but its generally amazing
I'd use ir more if it didn't have that charge time. I find it awkward to use in things like GMs
i still think that the darci buff a while back should not have been jolt, which essentially made it a heavy ammo cloudstrike, but instead give it the ability to scan the type of champions and then apply that type after a second or so, thus giving us a choice between burst heavy or that.
damn... that would have been super cool actually
@@TheAegisRelic Unless in my 30 clears I've never played with a "good" SH NH hunter, which is entirely possible, but I'm fairly sure nah
@@lumayne8829 Comparing against random people in an uncontrolled environment using wipe screen numbers after 2 phases + final isn't a good way to test DPS
@@TheAegisRelic I mean testing DPS in a DPS phase over 30 clears each having at LEAST one hunter but some having 5, I personally think is a lot better way to test it
39:52 for the summary table
When we get to Act 2, I am excited to see how much higher the solar weapons climb above everything else.
Who would’ve thought that a chicken and the aegis relic are keeping my dps numbers alive
The shatter damage from glacial quake on prismatic with star eaters is so good it’s funny
They ruined stasis titan with the stasis rework (nerf). It's to the point that the behemoth clan fell apart because the subclass now has no viability.
Love when i setup bait n switch on my linear swap and start firing and im hitting numbers that look like special sniper numbers
LMAO
The area denial came in clutch, i can use it and cold comfort and still keep my exotic for add clear or swap to still hunt for some nutty dps
Yeah I did mention that I think it's the best foolproof option atm
Bungie just announced that screen shake/flinch getting massively nerfed, and snipers about to go bananas next season 🎯
Cant wait to use izanagis again
Having the state of heavy linears quantified like this makes me sad. I knew they were bad but I didn’t know they were that bad. Still gonna hold on to my scintillation in case Bungie gives them the buff they so desperately need
It would be cool to see how the scorching rounds from song of flame works with better kinetic weapons like outbreak, supremacy, microcasm, bastion, lucky pants.
In my experience the effect isn't that significant but I might test it later
Bumgie REALLY should make a dedicated damage tester somewhat like the enclave but with stats of the info
The one place I really like 4th times retrofit for is final boss of Warlords ruin. A boss that is very easy to crit, and has enough seperate phases that you can reasonably actually make use of the total reserves
Very good vid! Lots of work and we appreciate it!
6:42 *Actium + Sweet Buisness* IS ON THE LIST
LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOO
Misspelled 'business' like the crayon eater I am lmao
Lament was out dpsed by heart shadow last season. Amazing vid!
They were very close, unless you're referring to shotgun swapping
2:04 harpy wasn’t ready for the smoke
Have you tested ill omen with attrition orbs? It keeps radiant, argent ordinance, and surges active. If with 6 of them you can get another super off in a phase then it could be very good
A true boss. Thank you!
Took me about 20 minutes to realise the spreadsheets weren't just the intro
Thx now i know cerbrus+1 is still the number 1 dps option
Maybe a subjective ranking system of "required effort" or a variance value for the damage would be useful
Yeah I'm working on making that
Im less excited for christmas than these, bless 🙏
It was me I asked for hammerhead thank you very much now I can almost kill Hefnd's vengeance without picking up any ammo
Will try it out!
