Wow, this is good news. My Dermatologist told me not to use Azelaic Acid and my .5 Tretinoin at the same time. She said to use the Azelaic Acid in the morning and Tretinoin at night or even just on alternate days.Your skin is beautiful.
My online derm (who has never met me) also said not to pair the two at night, but he seems extremely conservative. I am 51 years old, have been chemically exfoliating without irritation and he still started me on the absolute lowest percentage of tret and then, just to keep me from using azelaic acid afterward at night, he would only prescribe it as a gel, and told me to use it in the morning. I told him that didn’t work for me. I’m tempted to go with that place that blend the products if they will prescribe higher and blend them to save me the trouble of multiple products. If anyone can weigh in on how these non-pharmacies are able to get prescription tretinoin to put into their products, I would appreciate it. The only reason I haven’t jumped on board to use them is I have trouble trusting a company is going to use prescription strength medication without them being linked to a pharmacy. Thx.
Great advice as usual! I love to do the following for evening routine: Paula’s Choice Discoloration serum-tret ( Stieva) -Finacea-Drmtlgy Peptide Night cream.
I use the fermented exfoliant from the Ordinary both morning and night while using Tretenoin and A313 and at 51 look late thirties, have zero wrinkles and the fermented exfoliant super hydrates my skin. I have never had better skin in my life. I cant wait to see what Tret does once i use it daily.
I am totally down with your main suggestion here and pair Azelaic acid and tretinoin as I have an Rx of both. I'm always getting compliments on my skin although in fairness lately it has been when I wear CeraVe Tinted Sunscreen which adds a glow to my skin tone.
I'm intrigued about the Azelaic Acid with tretinoin. I'm 41 and never used to have issues with acne. The past few months, I have been breaking out a lot more around the chin area, and I have a feeling it has something to do with hormonal changes. I have been using Tretinoin for almost 10 years now, but I will definitely try using it with Azelaic Acid.
Absolutely hormonal changes could cause this in. Additionally, I take supplements for that that have helped me tremendously. ( DIM ,kelp , D3 supplements I like Doctor Bergs brand because they are nonsynthetic, which is so important) I also like a brand called life extension.
The peri oral dermatitis and breakouts for me came from over exfoliating. I have dogs. Any contact with their fur oils and my stripped down skin, even just from a light touch… gave me this acne around the chin that you mention…. Takes a while to get rid of with metrodiazonal gel (spelling?)
My skin has a hard time with Tretinoin 0.05% cream. So, my dermatologist prescribed Altreno Lotion (also 0.05% Tretinoin). My skin not only tolerated but it loves it.
Hi Ashley 🌞 I use the same tretinoin😃 I also use all the other products in the The Ordinary brand. You are the one years ago that turned me on to The Ordinary and I can't thank you enough! It's made such a HUGE difference in my skin. I'm 65 and I get a lot of compliments on my skin👍 What about using two of these pairings all together . Example the amino acid, tretinoin, azelaic acid and peptides? Even resveratrol which would be all three together? Thank you for your Ordinary brand videos!! 💜XOXO
Aw that is so amazing to hear 🥰 You can definitely use Amino Acids, Peptides, Tretinoin and Azelaic Acid or Amino Acids, Resveratrol, Tretinoin, Azelaic Acid especially if your skin can tolerate the pairings. Note: I found when I first started using Resveratrol I did have a little bit of dryness and a little tingly sensation for the first little while and now I don't experience it. If you experience the same and pair it up with Tret and/or with Azelaic you may experience additional dryness. It really is trial and error but just be cautious and maybe slowly introduce to be safe! I hope this helps and thanks again for your support 💗💗
Thank you for this video. I was going to ask you this exact question on pairings with tretinoin. I love all your videos. Thank you for all the sharing and hard work you put into them.
Peptides are great but if there is no vehicle in the formulation to deliver it to the fibroblasts and areas it needs to be delivered to, then it is nothing but a moisturizer. Always look for lactic/glycolic copolymer and other vehicles that deliver the peptides to the skin
Azelaic acid + Tretinoin= gamechanger 👍🏾❤ New subscriber. My bestie Tretinoin and I love each other as long as I don't use the wrong actives with her lol 😆

Love your content . As a man with oily skin I did not notice so many side effects with Tretinoin . Slight peeling , even if I do use 0,05%. You think men can get away with a more frequent use ? I’m also using TO Barrier support and La roche posay’s Repair Balm.
Thank you so much!! If you are experiencing minimal peeling with little to no irritation you can definitely use it more often (daily). Love that you're also using the TO Barrier Serum and LRP as these are great additions to keep the skin repaired and moisturized when using Tretinoin 👍🏻
pairing of: Amino Acid, Peptide, Tretinoin When, do you use these pairings? I just order my first Tretinoin and I already use the Ordinary Copper Peptide (love it). But I’m a little uncertain of how often to use- day, night, or both- and if you recommend incorporating a moisturizer in addition to the pairing - when and how often? I apologize for my uncertainty with all this.
Hey there and no worries at all! When using Tretinoin you can definitely use Amino Acids and a Peptide serum (excluding Copper Peptide) with it. I would pair the following up like this: Cleanse, Peptide, Amino Acids, Tretinoin and then Moisturizer in your nighttime routine. Be sure to apply Tretinoin to dry skin. When you're applying serums before hand your face may not dry down completely but let your serums absorb a little before applying Tretinoin to prevent quick absorption. Copper Peptides can be used in the morning and/or on nights you are not using Tretinoin. I would start using Tretinoin 1-2 times a week leaving several days in between to see how your skin adjusts then slowly incorporate an extra day and gradually increase as Tret can cause dryness/irritation. I hope this helps 💗
From one shot by you also pairing with copper peptides could be an option right? :) I am just so scared that they somehow cancel each other? Also can copper peptides be used together with timeless q10 serum? :)
I saw your short video about tretinoin being safe to use with copper peptides. I was just wondering if you use tret every night with CP and if it caused you any irritation? There are so many peptides to choose from and the only reason I haven’t gone with copper is concerned that it will irritate my skin because I use tretinoin each night. Thanks!
Hi Ashley, It’d be so helpful to know how long you wait between applying the Tretinoin & Azelaiac Acid, and how long before applying your moisturizer over it (if you use)? I’ve read varying suggestions between waiting 20-30 after washing face for skin to dry completely before applying Tret, then another 30 before applying A. Acid & another 30 before applying moisturizer. It’s so time consuming! 🤦♀️ (Takes even longer on nights I use the sandwich method as that’s another 30 min in between.) Thanks so much!
Hey! Ok, so I always put my facials mists, essence, serums onto damp skin which I will use before Tretinoin. I will wait about 15 min or so to allow everything to dry down as much as possible. 15 minutes, 30 min, 1 hour no matter how long I wait, my skin will never be bone dry if I applied those hydrating products before hand. 10-15 min or so is usually the length I will wait before apply Tretinoin. Once Tret is applied, I may wait a few minutes before applying Azelaic Acid and then a few minutes after that until I apply moisturizer. I don't wait too long to be honest because I am inpatient and I also think it's unnecessary but that's just my opinion.
Thank you, I apply my serums to damp skin & am impatient as well! (We could be waiting for hours if we waited 20 min between each!).🤦♀️I read it’s best to apply the thinnest product before the thickest so since my azelaic acid is a gel, I would use that first before the tretinoin cream. (I think a gel is thinner?) Are you using a. acid cream? Just wondered why you apply it before Tret or if it’s due to personal preference? I only got A. Acid for hyperpigmentation (My skin doesn’t get red or have rosacea or acne) so we’ll see if it adds anything to the Tret. I can’t find any information anywhere (including on the paperwork that came with it!) about how long to wait after my skin dries before applying the a. Acid or how long to wait before applying Tret. so I’m just experimenting. 10-15 min in between bit I let the Tret soak in longest before moisturizer. I’m on mo. 4 of .025 Tret, every other night or nightly & have had no peeling or irritation but notice A. Acid causes peeling . They rec’d using it in Al but I sleep weird hours so that doesn’t really work. Do you think there’s a benefit to Azelaiac if just to get rid of Sun spots? I read it really helps the Tret do that. Thanks!
I just started Tretnoin .5 and I love to use it with my RNW Der Ceramide Serum DRMTLGY Night Cream omg these 2 things have changed my skin so much! Love them !!! 🤍🤍🤍 Happy SUNDAY!!! 🪴🪴🪴🍓🍓🍓☀️☀️☀️
Loved your contents ❤ my derma, prescribed me .05 tret and benzoyl peroxide as cleanser, what serum should i incorporate for my acne prone skin? Im oily too. Hope to hear back. Thanks 😊 😊
Can I use hyaluronic acids serum prior to the tretinoin if I don’t have the amino acid serum? I’ve been just using a moisturizer before the tret. I found out I was using the tretinoin wrong so I’m trying to get my skin back to hydrated and not peeling 😢
Thank you for all your great tips. I wonder if I could add peptides to the tretinoin pairing with resveratrol, and if I would apply the peptides after or before the resveratrol.
You are so welcome!! According to The Ordinary, they don't recommend to use Peptides or Copper Peptides with Resveratrol but you can definitely use Peptides with Tretinoin.
I’m using tretinoin .5 for around 2 months. Still my face looks dry and little peeling. Would like to try one of serums before applying the tret. Question though. If you are layering 2 serums before using the tretinoin how can the tretinoin do its job to the skin? Can the tret penetrate through the serums to do its job? I would like to use the serum before the tret but want to make sure tret is working in my skin as well
Apparently it's better to put tretinoin on a washed, dry face and in bed! nothing below or above, you are right it limits the action of tretinoin (tested and approved, look at yourself the next day in the mirror when you get up, the difference is clear, and thank you for the savings :)) days or nights without tretinoin where you need to moisturize done less often because the skin also needs to self-hydrate by itself especially over time I hope you understood me well because I translate into English from France have a wonderful end of year celebration :)
I read about the ordinaries amino acids and B5 and didn’t care for the potential sticky/tacky deal of it so have been on the search for another hydrating serum. I realized I could go with the five or hyaluronic acid. Haven’t had any issues with tretinoin, but just had a massive allergic reaction from summer Fridays mineral sunscreen which has left me with a compromised skin barrier. I have B5 in the La Roche Posay Cicaplast baume (which is pilling off my face like crazy for some reason with no other products on!) Someone recommended, trying their B5 gel for compromised skin barriers as it doesn’t pill. I don’t want to start out using a ton of different serums because I’m pretty lazy with even remembering to use timeless’ 20% vitamin C Ferulic serum. So since I’m not a fan of the Ordinarie B5, and amino acids, would you recommend another B50 or a hyaluronic acid serum? Or should I use one every day for hydration and keep the other for when my skin barrier gets jacked up? Dr Dray explained that Tritten and users automatically have a compromise skin barrier which could’ve caused the irritation to the mineral sunscreen so if my skin barrier is automatically compromised, should I not be using a B5 serum every day? I know there are a lot of questions here and I’m pretty desperate since I can’t find the answers anywhere else. Really hope to hear back from you.
I use tret 0.025, at night , I put the plum plump glow recipe hyaluronic acid on first it has five weights of hyaluronic acid in .then I use matrixyl 3000 with argiraline from skin deva , the dynasty moisturiser from beauty of joseon.
Stieva A (Tretinoin) is meant to be applied all over the face for best results! I personally haven't used Adapalene but it's not as strong as Tret and can be easily purchased over the counter where as Tretinoin is considered a medication which requires a prescription.
Thank you!! My dermatologist prescribes me Tretinoin. I believe a family doctor can as well but I see my dermatologist yearly so I keep getting refills.
I don't pair these two up but have heard others doing it and achieved great results. It really just depends on how your skin tolerates to active pairings😊
Pairing up an exfoliating acid with Tretinoin or even Retinol can be an irritating pairing for some. I wouldn't use Glycolic, Salicylic or Lactic Acid with Tretinoin but Azaleic is pretty gentle in my opinion especially on my skin and I tolerate the pairing well.
Great content! I'm overwhelmed and just got swept away with all the sales. From The Ordinary, I bought multi-peptide serum, glycolic acid toner, matrixyl and niacinamide. Oy vey. Current routine is AM: rinse, timeless vitamin C, Cossrx snail mucin, cereve spf 30 moisturizer or DRMTLGY tinted moisurizer spf 46. PM: Cereve hydrating cleanser, Agency Future Formula (tretinoin), La Roche Posay Toleriane Double Repair Face Moisturizer or DRMTLGY peptide cream. I think all the Ordinary serums are no-go's in combination with these items. Help?!
Thanks so much and I love the look of your current routines👍🏻 Ok so, Niaciamide can be used with either Vitamin C or Tretinoin so you can easily squeeze that serum in there for either routine. Matrixyl and the Multi-Peptide Serum can be used with Tretinoin If you take off nights with Tretinoin, then you could use the Glycolic Acid in replacement once or twice a week. When you're using Glycolic, you can use it with Niacinamide. Hope this helps 😊
Hi, I applied tretinoin and experienced a burning and swollen face plus irritation. Whats your advice? Shall I stop using it till my skin back to normal and resume using it in a frequency of once weekly and proceed further as my skin accustom to Tetrinoin? Thank you.
I would definitely discontinue use until your skin is back to normal. How often are you using it? I would resume with one day a week and do that for several weeks using moisturizing ingredients with it to keep the skin comfortable. Once your skin is adjusting with that, then go to two days a week (leaving days in between each use) and so on. Hope this helps and best of luck. Tretinoin is a journey 😊
It could potentially be an irritating pairing for some skin types but you could use the two together if your skin likes the pairing and you're not seeing additional dryness/irritation.
I tried and it's amazing,so mousturing! It's important make absorb tretinoin and after 2 hours put castor oil. It' the perfect combo.I talk about it in many videos on my italian Tiktok.
Peptides and Tretinoin you can especially if your skin can tolerate the pairing. Glycolic or any type of direct acid with Vitamin C could be an irritating combination for some skin types.
where are the sources saying these products will work best with tRETINOIN ? i think only vitamin C serum is the best to use in the morning with SPF 15 and at night, use it with any moisterizer that contain Hyluronic acid.. thátss all you need .. if u say something, u need to come up with reliable sources , not your own opinion..
Where are your sources? And she never claimed to be an expert! You do not have to follow her recommendation OR you could make your own channel, show your skin and I’d be your first subscriber.

That s my question too 🤔
Apparently it's better to put tretinoin on a washed, dry face and in bed! nothing below or above, you are right it limits the action of tretinoin (tested and approved, look at yourself the next day in the mirror when you get up, the difference is clear, and thank you for the savings :))
days or nights without tretinoin where you need to moisturize done less often because the skin also needs to self-hydrate by itself especially over time
I hope you understood me well because I translate into English from France
have a wonderful end of year celebration :)
I love all these ideas!!
Yay! I am so happy to hear that💗
I read about the ordinaries amino acids and B5 and didn’t care for the potential sticky/tacky deal of it so have been on the search for another hydrating serum. Really hope to hear back from you.
im using tret and azeliac acid, but am unsure of how and what to use to exfoliate?
So it's safe to pair all sorts of peptides with retinol?
I use tret 0.025, at night , I put the plum plump glow recipe hyaluronic acid on first it has five weights of hyaluronic acid in .then I use matrixyl 3000 with argiraline from skin deva , the dynasty moisturiser from beauty of joseon.
Can I use azelaic acid and the peptide booster in the same night?
Is Stieva A ok to be applied to your entire face? I thought it was just a spot treatment! How do you find that compare to Adapalene?
Stieva A (Tretinoin) is meant to be applied all over the face for best results! I personally haven't used Adapalene but it's not as strong as Tret and can be easily purchased over the counter where as Tretinoin is considered a medication which requires a prescription.
amazing info ❤
Hi Ash, I’m also in Canada, how do you get tretinoin here? I would love to know. Thanks, love the video
Thank you!!
My dermatologist prescribes me Tretinoin. I believe a family doctor can as well but I see my dermatologist yearly so I keep getting refills.
GP doctor will order it for you!
What do you think about TO Pycnogenol pairing with retinol? I felt resveretrol a bit greasy?
That would work too! You could always apply a few drops of Pycnogenol into your moisturizer and apply it on top of Tret
Thanks you.
Have you noticed the growth of fluffy facial hair after tretinoin?
No not at all 😊
Can you use three pairings on alternate nights?
What about transexamic acid? Do you ever pair that with the azelaic acid?
I use Payla’s Choice Discoloration serum before tret and love it! It has tranexamic acid in it.
I don't pair these two up but have heard others doing it and achieved great results. It really just depends on how your skin tolerates to active pairings😊
You are already beautiful ma'am. I use tretinion. I got rashes on my thighs ma'am. Itcfy when it's hot.
I thought we aren’t supposed to use acid with retinoid ? I’m confuse now…
You can if your skin can handle it but a lot of people can't do that.
Azelaic acid is different from aha and bha, you can use with tret
Hey just curious about Tretionoil + Salsalic acid on alternate days!?
I wouldn't use them in the same routine but if you want to alternate your days you can totally do that.
Help?!
Thanks so much and I love the look of your current routines👍🏻
Ok so, Niaciamide can be used with either Vitamin C or Tretinoin so you can easily squeeze that serum in there for either routine.
Matrixyl and the Multi-Peptide Serum can be used with Tretinoin
If you take off nights with Tretinoin, then you could use the Glycolic Acid in replacement once or twice a week. When you're using Glycolic, you can use it with Niacinamide.
Hope this helps 😊
❤Can I use hyaluronic acid plus peptide serum with azelaic acid cream????;
Yes!!
Excellent madam
Does tretinoine has any internal side effects in body ?
Need your help I just purchased Marine Hyaluronics to use in the morning. What can you not use with this with. always wait for your bell!
Marine Hyaluronics can be paired with anything as it's a hydrating product 😊
Hello Miss Ash Can i pair it with Azeliac acid cream together?
I do and my skin loves it. It depends on how sensitive your skin is..
Why does it look blurry around your chin and neck?
I know the 15% Azelaic acid is prescription only but I was trying to find the price online and I couldn’t. How much is it?
I can't remember off hand. It's covered through my insurance but I feel like it's around $30 or under. I may be wrong though.
What about copper peptide ?
I would keep these two separate from one another to achieve maximum results.
So after cleanser at night, Paul’s choice collagen, Tretinoin and Cerave night cream is the order?
You got it 👌🏻🥰
What happens if I use Tretinoin then Paula’s Choice Collagen peptides at night?
That was only my first attempt. @@SincerelyMissAsh
Can we layer Tranexamic acid with Tretinoin?
It could potentially be an irritating pairing for some skin types but you could use the two together if your skin likes the pairing and you're not seeing additional dryness/irritation.
Do you use Tret first and then a Azelaic or vice versa and then moisturizer?
Tret first, Azelaic Acid and then Moisturizer 😉
@@SincerelyMissAsh thanks Miss Ash
Can I use ordinary Multi peptide+Ha before using Tretinoin 0.025??
Yes absolutely!
@@SincerelyMissAsh Thank you 😊
Hi Ashley, do you know any online prescriptions to get stieva a tretinoin in Canada? Thank you!
Felixcanada
I am not familiar with any no sorry. Mine is prescribed by my dermatologist but perhaps your family doctor could prescribe it as well..
I agree Felix is an online pharmacy and easy to use.
Regular doctor will order it for you it’s quite cheap!
Can you use tretinoin with copper peptides?
No, it's not recommended! Best to use Tretinoin at night and Copper Peptides in the morning or use Copper on alternating nights with Tret!
can you use tetrinoin with copper peptides?
She stated no to this one somewhere in the comments. I tried it by mistake and ended up with spots.
How about Tret and estrogen face cream together ?
Hi, can I pair trentinion with castor oil on my face?
I tried and it's amazing,so mousturing! It's important make absorb tretinoin and after 2 hours put castor oil. It' the perfect combo.I talk about it in many videos on my italian Tiktok.
So 4 things not 3?
Can i use vitamin C or alpha arbutin in my Am routine ? While i am using tretinoin at pm
Yes absolutely you can especially if your skin resonates well with the pairing.
@@SincerelyMissAsh ❤️❤️❤️
I though you couldn’t use peptides with Tren? Or vitamin C, or glycolic acid? Please explain
Peptides and Tretinoin you can especially if your skin can tolerate the pairing. Glycolic or any type of direct acid with Vitamin C could be an irritating combination for some skin types.
@@SincerelyMissAsh thanks so much for the explanation, very appreciated! 💕
Can I use copper peptides serum with tretinion?
I would keep these separate...
@SincerelyMissAsh oh thank you. How then do you use copper peptides In your routine.
Thats too much Acids and too much products for my skin sensitively.
Kann tretinoin die Poren vergrößern?
I used tretinoin 0,01 percent
So is this another form of the “sandwich” method?
No. Sandwich method is when you put on moisturizer, then Tretinoin, then more moisturizer
where are the sources saying these products will work best with tRETINOIN ? i think only vitamin C serum is the best to use in the morning with SPF 15 and at night, use it with any moisterizer that contain Hyluronic acid.. thátss all you need .. if u say something, u need to come up with reliable sources , not your own opinion..
Where are your sources? And she never claimed to be an expert! You do not have to follow her recommendation OR you could make your own channel, show your skin and I’d be your first subscriber.
Have you been using Tretinoin for long?? Have you experienced volume loss by using Tretinoin??
Sorry to bud in but it is a myth
I have heard of this many times and I personally don't believe it. I have heard other derms say it's a myth. I wouldn't worry too much about it.... at least I'm not anyways lol
