Hi! Doctor here. Actually it is recommended to use a healing ointment while using Tretinoin especially on areas that get dry- under eyes, smile lines, sides of the nose. It will provide a thicker barrier and excessive drying or peeling, if it does cause irritation- go for fragrance free options. You can also apply it on top of your moisturiser if you’re skin get too dry.
I think she was referring to a comment I left on her last video about using a petroleum product on top of the tretinoin. I saw on the Doctorly channel that it can cause the active ingredient to become more intense and even cause burns. Which is why it’s good to use a moisturizer under petroleum or something like that, but not an active. I asked my derm about this and she confirmed. But I did say that I use Vaseline or aquaphor around my eyes, lips, nose, etc. before the tretinoin so that it acts as a barrier before pouting on the active ingredient. Is this different from what you recommend?
Healing ointment literally saved my skin when I first started tretinoin a few years ago. I still “slug” every night. It never damaged my skin but everyone is different.
@@JulienArbor use the healing ointment before the tret so its less irritating . using the healing ointment on top of the tret would act as an occlusive and make the tret much more irritating so I 100% would not recommend to apply ontop . Also apply the ointment on the edges of your eyes mouth and nose as skin around those areas can get irritated easily
As a guy, Ive just learned the sunscreen and tretinoin convo at 28 which is quite late, I wish Ive known it before . Im approaching 31 this year and my skin texture and appearance has never been better.
Paper towel also has a bunch of abrasives on it and it’s not really recommended to use it on your skin. What I do is switch face towel every day :) i have one for every day of the week so it worked out perfectly

Also there are well established respected clinical studies on trentinoin and results at different doses. No need to go up from.025 to .05 based on several studies. A couple studies showed some difference in results from .025 to .05, but don’t feel badly if u can’t get past .025 due to irritation. Conclusive evidence that you definitely don’t get better results at .1 dosage and can have tolerability issues at higher doses.

Girl after your last tretinoin video I got a prescription to get it and just got it last week! I'm following what you suggested on how often to use it on the beginning. Will be watching all your skincare videos esp with tretinoin!! ❤️💙
@@bettybbags I was prescribed the .025% bc they suggested that, at least for 6 months before possibly strengthening the percentage. Honestly I love it and I have high hopes for where my skin will be in 6 mo to a year 😭 I only used it once a week for the first 2-3 weeks (I'm impatient so this was hard) then for the next 2 weeks I used it twice a week, now I've been using it every other night for the most part. I'd definitely say I see what people mean with not using any other actives and no physical exfoliators, if you do you'll feel like you have a mini second degree burn lol. So I've literally just been using the hydrating cream-to-foam CeraVe cleanser, no serums or masks so far, Vanicream daily facial moisturizer(it's noncomedogenic & hypoallergenic, was recommended by another UA-camr using tret) and Skinfix brightening eye cream. I've had minimal purging (pretty sure thanks to this video, I introduced it to my skin slowly) and so far previous acne scaring is clearing and almost no breakouts! 🥲❤️💙
@@theonlyhope. amazing! Thank you so, so much for taking the time to report back. I asked for .05 bc I only want to deal with it once a week. I have very parched skin and am planning to use this for hyperpigmentation (no acne at my age 😆) and another UA-camr mentioned sandwiching by applying a moisturizer after cleansing. Waiting an hour until your skin is bone dry, and then applying it over top. Do you apply a moisturizer before and after, or just a serum or essence?
@@bettybbags Of course girl! And yes I've heard of the sandwiching method, honestly I was debating on trying moisturizer beforehand to minimize any irritation, but I went ahead and tried it out using tret after cleansing and drying my skin completely, then after letting the tretinoin set/dry down for about 15 minutes, then put on moisturizer. I haven't had any issues! I've only seen "dry spots" around my chin area twice, and both were my only fault from using an exfoliator. I used to love exfoliators (gentle ones though) but definitely see why people say skip any exfoliators using tret. Because now that I haven't been using any exfoliators (physical or chemical) I haven't had any issues with irritation or dry spots. I bought the CeraVe healing ointment that so many people swear by for slugging, but haven't needed to use it yet. I want to start slugging maybe once a week though (on a non-tret night) to help with moisture/anti aging. But I would definitely say consistency is key, now that it's been about 2 months I'm definitely seeing more and more results with my skin tone evening out from scarring/pigmentation. I don't see myself ever stop using tret honestly! Another thing, while I don't put it directly on my under my eye, I do put it kinda close to the outer corner crows feet area to help with fine lines (I used to go to tanning beds years ago 🤦🏻♀️😩) and I really didn't think it'd make a big difference but it already has helped!! 🙌🏻

My mom is prescribed tretinoin and kojic acid cream for her melasma. I doubt these products would do any good because she has had melasma for 16 years now!! 😢
Why do you go in with micellar water instead of emulsifying your cleansing balm? That’s technically triple cleanse. And drying your face with paper towels every day is such a waste, can’t be good for the environment.
Hello! I have a question? Does tretinoin helps with the discoloration on the corners of oir mouth? That's my only problem. I hope I can response from you. You are beautiful❤
I have Indian skin, little extra pigmentation around my lips and eyes and dry skin. Could you please suggest some products on the same? It will be highly helpful, thank you :)
Im going to the doctor tomorrow in hopes of getting tret ive been on ret for a month now so im ready for something stronger, thank you Ill definitely try the sandwich method (if i get tret tomorrow lol)
this video is perfect! thank you so much for sharing your skincare routine. I know you mentioned sharing affordable moisturizer brands, are you able to share that? Also, I loved how you mentioned not using an occlusive over tretinoin/retinol - this was a huge game changer for me as I always used the CeraVe Healing Ointment over my retinol. I noticed how it irritated my skin.
Hey sagonia thanks a lot.could you plz share ur handcare routine?your hands are so beautiful. My hands are so dark dark and tanned.plz suggest something.
I’m on 0.1 strength and use Tret once a week for two years now. What do you do on days your skin peels? Do you apply tretinoin w/ the sandwich method on the days your skin peels too?
Thanks for your video ❤ is there a reason for using micellar water together with oil cleanser? Ive seen either or for makeup removal, then water based cleanser as 2nd step.
How did you go about applying tret on the neck? I've been using it for 2 months on my face and I want to try putting a little bit on my neck too but I'm scared because the skin is thinner there and I've seen some people get awful irritation on the neck when they tried it.
I have a different method than the creator of the video, and it might help you. I still sometimes get irritation, but it goes away within a day if I moisturize that area and put aquaphor. What’s key is to buffer your neck with plenty of moisturizer like slathering it on, then you could start with a lower percentage otc retinol, that’s what I did. Once you feel you’re good for awhile and want to try tretinoin, do the same thing with tretinoin. The main key for me with the neck is using moisturizer to buffer, if I don’t use moisturizer my neck skin instantly can’t take it and I get a skin rash. Also as always dont make sure to apply sunscreen there, you should always apply sunscreen there but with tretinoin you should apply more and more often since that part of the skin is thinner.
Great routine! Not criticizing, but just curious… How come you’re using an oil cleanser and micellar water? This seems to be a repetitive step, as they both are doing the same thing. To remove the oil cleanser, you simply need a wet face towel with luke warm water to remove the oil cleanser then you go in with the gentle face wash. If the answer is to remove the makeup then why wouldn’t you just use a better cleanser to remove the oil/makeup/sunscreen? I mean your skin looks great, but was just wondering the thought process on that.
@@imparfaite101 yeah, I mean my skin has been extremely dry since starting tretinion 6months ago, so I couldn’t imagine using a 3 step cleansing process. I have/had normal skin and never had issues with acne. Maybe, it’s helping that she’s using a heavy moisturizer though.
Its been proven that micellar water does not do what an oil cleanser does, so it doesnt count as a cleansing step i think she just uses it to ensure all the oil is off
Oh just like my skin combination thick olive oval fave long thick hair the same girl u my lifesaver am going to get this stuff I love alovera oils coconut oil and at water but it will try all this looks good can’t wait.
I’ve been usin retinol for a year now and seems like I’ve done this all wrong . Barely used a moisturizer, leave alone healing ointment. Just used spf though. Lol. But thanks for sharing. Hope this changes Things for good❤ . Also your skin is gorg!!
Hi my love! How do you remove your facial hair? I tried tretinoin but left it when my fave got so irritated and broke out after shaving, which never used to happen
I thought tapping on the products was better than sliding them on, wont the products underneath smear as you add more products? This is a genuine question, I’m barely starting a skincare routine. ❤❤
I do all the moisturising you can think of, drink tons of water, eat fish, eat good quality fat and my skin is so dull after 3 months of tret. I very slowly worked up to every other day, only apply far from under eyes, do sandwich method and my skin is slightly peeling but just looks....dull, almost grey. I just turned 30 and want to stick this through but wondering if its really worth it. I started at 0.025%
why did my derm tell me to use tret everyday and no moisturizer (only in the morning) i just started using it like 6 days ago but my skin hasnt been getting red or anything, its actually a lot smoother!
Watching this video makes me feel I’ve been doing it all wrong for the last 20/30 years, I just turned 50 yrs old today and feel I’m too late to start a new skin care routine 😢 I live in the uk and wouldn’t have any idea where to start but girl… your skin is immaculate and you are gorgeous such natural beauty is it really too late ? X
just buy a 0.05 tretinoin cream from pharmacy and start using it before bed, plus sun screen every morning. Im 31 and just started doing that. Better late than never
Is it ever too late to look and feel beautiful? I’m 42 and just started. The other day I read a comment on another video about a lady who started at 70! I don’t think it’s ever too late to take care of oneself and improve (I use tretinoin + vit c + spf and in 3 months my skin has a different glow and some sun spots I had on my chest are fading)
WATTT I THOUGHT ON YOUR LAST VIDEO that you place the healing ointment on your skin for the last 7 months........ my dermatologist told me not not to do Trenton without aquaphor NOW I am confused. if it was working for 7 months why not keep doing it ?
I do it and don’t notice any adverse effects but I think it’s advised to be careful as things like aquaphor and cerave healing ointments are very thick occlusive products and places over top of tretinoin could cause it to further penetrate the skin and COULD possibly cause dryness and irritation. But if it works for you that’s great, and if your doctor said it was fine too then you’re fine lol
hey not sure if you will see this but what did you mean by not using healing ointment on the skin after applying the tretinion at the end of the video? just found your yt channel and im deff subscribing.

i love your videos because they are short and helpful❤️
omg I'm really switching to tretinoin because of you love your skin so much girl :)
Need to see your AM routine!!!
this video is perfect! thank you so much for sharing your skincare routine. I know you mentioned sharing affordable moisturizer brands, are you able to share that? Also, I loved how you mentioned not using an occlusive over tretinoin/retinol - this was a huge game changer for me as I always used the CeraVe Healing Ointment over my retinol. I noticed how it irritated my skin.
use a moisturizer before the healing ointment and it will help act as a barrier. at least for me it works really well and I wake up hydrated
thank you so much for the tips! please, where is your robe from 😍
Hey sagonia thanks a lot.could you plz share ur handcare routine?your hands are so beautiful.
Ive seen either or for makeup removal, then water based cleanser as 2nd step.
wow your skin is really nice but i have a question if you dont ask a dermatologist where to get your tretinoin from which ones would you recommed?
Thanks for sharing your skincare routine. So fabulous❤❤❤
Have you tried Clean Skin Club towels, they're a game changer...think high end paper towel haha I don't work for them I just really like it!
please suggest a good sunscreen that is chemical free
Just saw the dermatologist today! Got a prescription for tretinoin 😁
And how is it going?
Better to brush your teeth and then wash your skin with lotion💜
Snail mucin is not a serm , it’s between toner and essence !!
How did you go about applying tret on the neck? I've been using it for 2 months on my face and I want to try putting a little bit on my neck too but I'm scared because the skin is thinner there and I've seen some people get awful irritation on the neck when they tried it.
I use half a pea size instead of a regular pea size and haven’t experienced any irritation!
Love the snail serum!!
Wow😱😱 Thanks for sharing the video. Its short but so effective for skincare. Thanks...
I m surprised about how resilient her skin is to handle the 3 steps cleansing process. My skin feels irritated only by cleaning with micellar water.
Do you think it would be okay to use for example, ordinary serums before going in with tretinoin?
Is the skin+ barrier cream considered a healing cream??
I thought tapping on the products was better than sliding them on, wont the products underneath smear as you add more products? This is a genuine question, I’m barely starting a skincare routine. ❤❤
I noticed that you did not link any affordable alternatives that you mentioned that you would post.
What do you mean by healing cream not to put after tret? Is it like cicaplast? Thanks
wow u look amazing!! Love your eyebrows 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍 . Super model
Can I use glycerin with Aleovera gel to moisturise my face when I using Tretinoin? Plz tell me
Can I use Tretinoin With My l'oreal paris crystal clear regime...???My skin type is oily acne prone... please let me know
Does the laroche posay remove waterproof makeup?
Please make a video on AM routine. Also I want to know what SPF do you use.
Hey should i use a hydrating toner before using snail mucin?
I do all the moisturising you can think of, drink tons of water, eat fish, eat good quality fat and my skin is so dull after 3 months of tret. I very slowly worked up to every other day, only apply far from under eyes, do sandwich method and my skin is slightly peeling but just looks....dull, almost grey. I just turned 30 and want to stick this through but wondering if its really worth it. I started at 0.025%
You can incorporate AHAs/BHAs and Vitamin C into your routine
why did my derm tell me to use tret everyday and no moisturizer (only in the morning) i just started using it like 6 days ago but my skin hasnt been getting red or anything, its actually a lot smoother!
Share us with your Am skincare routine.. Please.. I love your skin so much💖
Watching this video makes me feel I’ve been doing it all wrong for the last 20/30 years, I just turned 50 yrs old today and feel I’m too late to start a new skin care routine 😢 I live in the uk and wouldn’t have any idea where to start but girl… your skin is immaculate and you are gorgeous such natural beauty is it really too late ? X
It's a never too late!! In 5 years your skin will be more grateful for starting at 50 than not starting at all. 💗
just buy a 0.05 tretinoin cream from pharmacy and start using it before bed, plus sun screen every morning. Im 31 and just started doing that. Better late than never
Thankyou for the reply I’m in the uk and can only get tretinoin on prescription, x
you're not too late. ua-cam.com/video/4soVpTkujhQ/v-deo.html she started way more late than you. You'll get there
Is it ever too late to look and feel beautiful?
