    This worked way better than I expected. I've ridden in one of those 4-wheel tourist "quadricycles", and with three grown men pedaling we couldn't get it to go faster than 24 km/h, and it was a scary and exhausting experience. There were just too many losses in the transmission, and pedaling felt incredibly stiff, even if it was probably much lighter than this stripped-down Lada. This seems much better engineered, amazing as it sounds.

    • @MushookieMan
      @MushookieMan Рік тому +11

      This Lada pedal car is an ankle breaker. They need to have a one way ratcheting linkage to stop serious injuries.

    • @Velktron
      @Velktron Рік тому +5

      @@MushookieMan That quadricycle didn't have one either. Only the incredibly loose and inefficient transmission mitigated the risk. Each one of the rear wheels was connected to a different pair of pedal/sprockets and chains, so effectively the front and rear passenger of one side of the bike drove only that side's wheel . You needed either 2 or 4 persons in order to have balanced power. There was no central transmission like in this Lada.

    • @MushookieMan
      @MushookieMan Рік тому +2

      @@Velktron Most off the shelf bicycles, including fixed gear bikes, don't allow the wheels to back-drive the pedals and break your ankles. Hard to believe that quadricycle didn't have one. But the important difference here is the Lada has a ton of mass, and so a ton of momentum, assuming it has a similar gearing ratio to the quadricycle it can transmit force well beyond that.

    • @Velktron
      @Velktron Рік тому +1

      @@MushookieMan Even factory-made tandem bikes usually don't have a freewheel at every set of cranks, even if there's one at the final drive of the wheel: if you slack you simply get pulled/"cranked" along :-) This Lada is more similar to a pedal boat, in that respect. There, two sets of cranks on the same shaft drive a single, cemtrally-placed paddled wheel. No good for slackers, let me tell you that ;-)

    Hmmmmm. Firstly build a 5 seater version with proper pedals. Secondly have the pedals spin a large heavy vertical flywheel. Thirdly have a conventional clutch that connects from the flywheel to the gearbox - you should use a 5 or 6 speed with reduction ratios 3:1, 2:1, 1:1 and overdrive gears, 1:1.5, 1:2, 1:2.5.. Finally as you observed, reduce weight. In theory a fly wheel allows the passengers to "load up" the fly wheel with energy, and the spin should smooth out the power making it more practical to drive at any speed or distance.

I suggest a project that some small heating chamber of which the heating element nichrome or kanthal wire is encapsulated in ceramic or may be ceramic heater which boils petrol as normally not much heat is needed for petrol to turn into fumes and some water cannister be attached so that backfire won't catch fire and it is feeder like cng or lpg gas to carb. Best thing is to try on 100cc motorcycle for evaluating the prospects of this ceramic bulb ...what will be your opinion Sir.
