    He definitely would not have learned anything from Nishinoya. He's a genius who moves on instinct, so he's a terrible teacher. Also, as already established, Hinata is pretty useless without Kageyama. It would do him no more good practicing with the team than it is for him being a ball boy since Kageyama is away.

      This reminds me of that quote from Fukuda, the manager of Esperion in Ao Ashi: “𝗜𝗳 𝗶𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝘀𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗼𝘄𝗻, 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘄𝗼𝗻'𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝗶𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲.”
      That's what happened to Hinata, he discovered how to receive on his own so now it's something he will always remember.

      For a team it's much more useful that a middle blocker knows a tough server than back row defensive skills, but for a player who wants to be on the court as much as he can without depending on a good setter, that's the way. Hinata is being a bit selfish, but his team shouldn't hold back his growth.

    If he was with his team, he would be playing and not be sitting outside. This is a very lucky situation in which he is not allowed to play.
    Hinata is not being selfish at all. He absolutely is not trying to do things by himself. In fact, it is mentioned by him way back in the second season. He doesn't want the only reason he is considered worthy to be as one half of the freak quick. He is trying his best so that he can bring his own things to the team.

      @@MauMight but again, the knowledge he gained by being an observer has proved so much more valuable. Practice with his team would've been in court. And in three seasons they haven't really shown him training for receives. It's always only been spikes. He has been able to pull off emergency set-ups here and there but other than that, receives have always been his weak points. The "bigger picture" perspective of the court that he has now would've been impossible if he had practiced with just Suga or someone else. Ahh the perspective of someone who didn't play or watch sports so often lol it's understandable though. Things like this is actually common for all levels of sports, people get selected to practice/play for national teams while tournaments are still going on (within the same weeks even), usually near the end of the tournaments. Like Brown Pat says, Hinata already learned as much from his team as he can (at their current level), but let's face it, as much as we love Karasuno and will always want them to win, the rest of the team aren't the best of the best right now (maybe someday, maybe on game day who knows). Also, Nishinoya is bad at explaining things as shown before when he tried teaching Hinata how to dig and Hinata has never seen or been shown what happens from the back of the court as the team focused solely on all-out offence at the time. But others have already said all this lol

    Pat makes sense because he has that sports knowledge hinata has already made good progress with the team and practicing with just the team would help but it wouldn't benefit him as much as being a ball boy. The ball boy aspect gives him the perspective of many different players playing together and he can pretty much absorb all that he can take in and incorporate it into himself. Marketa is right too but we have to understand hinata does not have all the basics down, so he has to take initiative and be selfish if he wants to better himself. As an individual player hinata is not that good the only thing that makes him useful is his quick reflexes and his crazy athletic abiliy. Nationals is a whole other beast compared to just their miyagi prefecture and hinata is going to need this more than training with the team. Even coach takeda said you gotta start at the bottom and work your way up. That's what hinata is trying to do and hopefully we will see it when nationals come. Sorry for the long rant hehe just love this anime so much.

    Ain’t no way the two people saying hinata is waisting his time are the two people who keep on saying they really don’t know anything about volleyball. Yes volleyball is a team sport but you still need to maximize your skills individually. Even the people that were practicing wit karasuno were practicing their individual skills. Hinata is literally gaining an important defensive skill that will help his team and also help him stay on the court the longest. That was his ultimate goal since episode one. And yes most of the things they could learn as a team they have already learned

    I really agree with Pat. As someone who although hasn't been part of official sports teams, is part of teams in other areas, it is better to expand and learn from others then come back together and share information to help your team. it is what Hinata is doing right now. hinata is genuinely improving his basic skills like receiving which he, at this point, is not good at. he is getting valuable information from others first hand and he's using that information to improve and then apply it on the court. individual growth is overall team growth.

  • @MH3Raiser

    I think we're all a little disappointed, because by this point we'd all sort of started to understand the point of the ball boy arc, though to be fair to the normies it's two pronged and they can mislead each other a little:
    Point 1) There are different things to learn from watching and thinking critically about a sport than can be learnt by playing it. Hinata is a fairly simple and straightforward kid who always wanted to spike and was never really denied that chance once he got to Karasuno.
    What this mean however is that Hinata essentially skipped the 'basics' of Volleyball. Usually a player like him wouldn't beat Yamaguchi to a starter position, let alone the second years of Karasuno. He managed to skip that step entirely due to one attack, and that essentially handicapped his growth as a player.
    This isn't a problem per se at Karasuno, but Hinata wants to climb higher than high school volleyball: he wants to win GOLD MEDALS at the Olympics. Doing that without learning the basics is impossible, but Hinata being the sun boy he is as a teenager has no way of really understanding that.
    Coach Washijo actually does Hinata a HUGE FAVOUR here. By forcing him to step back and watch, he's also introducing him to aspects of Volleyball he never would have experienced if he'd just kept running ahead, aspects that will be vital to him AFTER school.
    2) Hinata is short, even for a Japanese kid. On the world stage, he's literally a microbe even for his age group. In Japan they exclusively go after tall passionate athletes because they can learn anything a shorter player can AND be tall, and when the majority of your population is so much shorter than the rest of the world, the tallest stand out so much more.
    Hinata is denied lodging at the camp because he wasn't invited, and he wasn't invited because without Kageyama he's objectively worse than EVERY SINGLE OTHER PLAYER THERE... AND he's short.
    Kakugawa is 6.3 and a complete novice, but his height literally allows him to compete evenly 1 on 1 eith any of the other players there. Hinata simply doesn't have that, at present without his quick he'd get destroyed.
    As of right now, no coach in their right mind would pick him over any of those other players. As long as he lives, he will always be looked over because of his height; he will ALWAYS have that disadvantage.
    Washijo's second lesson is harsh, but as the manga will show was much more necessary for Hinata's growth: he has to MAKE them pick him, even if they want to pass over him. And to do that he will have to take on challenges no othe rplayer must because of his height.
    He must accept this or give up. It's that simple.

  • @theetshiamo__r557
    @theetshiamo__r557 Рік тому +1

    The whole point of this episode is to show that the game looks different when observing it from the sidelines as opposed to being in the game.
    Hinata being a ball boy for this youth camp is very beneficial to his character development because he sees things that he would has never seen while playing the game because he'd be too focused on palying the game and scoring points. him being the ball boy actually forces him to observe the game in a different light, which is why he is able to see how players have a diffferent way of receiving and spiking the ball.By making that deduction, Hinata now finds the importance of receiving in the volleyball sport.
    And to comment on to what suraj said about hinata consulting nishinoya about receiving, Hinata couldn't have consulted nishinoya because nishinoya cannot teach another player how to receive to save his life as it was established in episode 8 of season 1.
    i get what Marketa said about hinata being selfish and leavig his team to go to the youth camp not to play and participate in the matches but pick up balls when nationals is just a week away. i guess you can say that it might have been better for hinata to stay with his team and prepare for nationals but to hinata's perscective, that wouldn't make him better. For hinata, seeing kageyama and tsukishima being scouted/invited to train in major camps was probably a waking call to him. It made him realise that people are advancing foward quicker than him and leaving him behind. It made him realise that the reason he wasn,t scouted for any of the camps was because of his lack in skill which is why he points out that he needs to train with stronger people to improve his skill. Him saying that might come of as him disrespecting his teamtes [basically saying that his teamates aren,t strong enough to make him improve] but his kinda right. Not all his teamates are strong, skilled and talented. Kageyama being scouted for the U19 all japan team basically means that kageyama is one of the best players in ALL OF JAPAN. Same thing with tsikushima being invited to play in the youth camp. It means that big figures are acknowledging kageyama and tsikishima's talent and skill.
    And also what Marketa said about hinata not bringing anything to the team is wrong. Hinata's basic skill set on volleyball is pretty weak and it brings down his team. the points you could get from simple blocking, receiving and serving are lost because of his lack of the basic skill set of volleyball, so hinata learning all these stuff will help him and the team lose less points during games because hinata couldn't serve properly , or block a spike, or receive a soike/serve.
    To add on another thing that Marketa said about volleyball being a team spot, yes it is a team sport but if you want to make it big in this field, like hinata, then you need to STAN OUT to be able to stand on the stage of big notable players like ushijima and some all the players in the U19 All Japan camp and to do so you need to be able to play with palsyers you're not familiar with. You need to you need to be able to play amazing and at your best regardless of the setter and environment.
    What I'm trying to say is that hinata being here and learning these stuff is immensely beneficial to himself in points to broadening his skill set, learning the basic skill set of volleyball, and for character development and his team.

  • @dichotomusprime6646
    @dichotomusprime6646 2 роки тому +3

    Yeah, I kinda think Marketa's off with her read. He IS motivated by wanting to be better for himself (not just dependent on Kageyama), but currently... his receives/digs suck.
    Regardless of whether or not he's practicing with the team right now, him being able to receive and pass accurately IN AND OF ITSELF helps the team! If he'd practiced with the rest of Karasuno, chances are he'd be doing the same things he's always been doing bc of the time constraints. No coach is going to give one player an intensive defense bootcamp with one week til Nationals, which is effectively what Hinata is getting as a ball boy.

    If u don't improve your overall skills like receiving, blocking etc then you will be a hindrance to the team during Actual Matches.
    The reason he was not selected in this camp because he is nothing without kageyama.Only due to his weird quick with kageyama he is in karasuno team.His other skills sucks because he is a beginner and just started playing volleyball in karasuno and he always interested in Spiking that's why his other skills are bad.

    Marketa & Suraj are wrong Mickey & Pat are correct. They are doing exactly what Coach Ukai told Hinata not to do, underestimate being a ball boy & lacking perspective. Ushijima’s 1st impression of Hinata was that he possessed the necessary attributes to give him a run for his money. He assumed Hinata was one of those tiny but extremely skilled players. Then he got letdown when he actually saw him in action. Hinata has great combo plays with Kageyama but is a major defensive liability. Hinata’s passion annoys Ushijima and his coach because he is objectively trash in most areas of the game. Ushijima is getting excited about Hinata again because of the RESULTS he’s displaying from being a ball boy. The reason he should be here, not practicing with his team, is he’s learning defense. He’s finally going to be a 2-way player.

Even though Coach Washijo’s words are harsh he’s right in saying that Hinata doesn’t have much value without a super talented setter tossing him passes, this is the perfect thing for Hinata to work on as of right now to make himself better and for the team as well.

  • @R3_dacted0
    @R3_dacted0 2 роки тому

    The timing is what makes this a difficult choice. But the entire team does benefit more from Hinata learning from other players the way he is doing now. It's just the fact that it's so close to nationals that you'd think it be better spent keeping in sync with your actual team.
    But the reason why it is a bit more beneficial to have him learning elsewhere is because he was already at the point of cohesiveness with his own team that learning new skills just wasn't happening anymore. The outside perspective allows him to learn new things and then to take those new things and realize how he can apply them to his current team and continue to grow.
    So, essentially it's allowing him to level up his skill within Karasuno by teaching him new fundamentals he wasn't aware of before.

    You need to improve as an individual player to be good at any sport, even team sports. Just bcos it's a team sport doesn't mean players shouldn't do training by themselves. Yamaguchi did the same thing training alone with Shimada on float serves. His method is vry different from Hinata's of course, but if anything it's Hinata's methods that should be in question, not his hunger for improvement.
    Ppl rlly need to realize that teams change all the time. Players go in and out. If you can't play well as an individual, you'll just drag the team down. Ukkai sr. literally taught Hinata in season 2 that he needs to learn to fight his own battles. He's simply stepping up and learning to fight on the ground the way he learned to fight in mid-air in s2.

    A player improving his/her individual skills ultimately helps make teams better (as long as teamwork and dynamics are not compromised). Kageyama and Tsukishima wanting to improve their individual skills in these camps is basically the same as Hinata doing it. Of course, the only difference is that Hinata was not invited. But I don't understand why you think Hinata is "selfish" for wanting to up his skills but Kageyama and Tsukishima are not? Both Kageyama and Tsukishima also chose NOT to train with the Karasuno team currently, right? Granted, Hinata snuck into the camp because there's a bit of desperation on his part. But their desire to train for individual gains are the same. Hinata doesn't want to be left behind skills-wise. And to be honest, in terms of empathy, communication skills and the openness to work with other team members, Hinata is actually better in those aspects compared to both Kageyama and Tsukishima. Hahaha.
    Regarding Hinata's "desperation", if you think about it, Kageyama and Tsukishima (and probably everyone in the Karasuno team) have been volleyball players with a proper team and coaches since they were very young. They've built good basic skills since then. On the other hand, Hinata was the only member of his volleyball team in junior high school. He didn't have a proper coach for any basic individual training and he played only one official game. He had to teach himself everything before entering high school. I think we can give him some slack when he is a bit "greedy" for self-improvement. :D
    Regarding the need for individual growth to improve a team's performance, the first version of the freak quick was all Kageyama's individual skill. Hinata just needed to jump high (with his eyes closed) and the ball will be delivered to his hands with pinpoint accuracy. It was amazing (at first) and it helped the team win matches, so they used that even if Hinata was basically not improving his own skill. When they lost to Seijoh, Hinata knew that he needed to improve his own skills because the first version of the quick wouldn't work on stronger opponents. Kageyama at that time, even Suga and Coach Ukai, initially disagreed because they thought it may "disrupt team dynamics" and that Hinata was "being selfish since the tournament is very near". But Hinata, standing his ground, actually found a way to improve his individual skills (he has learned different mid-air attacks, perfected the spike timing and can actually aim at different areas of the opponent's court now). He also pushed Kageyama to improve his sets and the better version of the quick was born. If Hinata didn't push for that and was just contented to be a "good team player", they would have definitely lost to Seijoh (again) and Shiratorizawa.
    In addition, ALL other Karasuno players practiced separately and improved their individual skills at that point in season 2 because they saw Hinata being "greedy". Asahi was working on his jump serves. Nishinoya was working on his sets before the attack line. Everyone practiced the synchronized attack. Each improved individual skill made the team better overall.
    Regarding Hinata's choice to go to the training camp instead of continuing to practice with Karasuno now, it might have been an immature and unsound decision at first because Hinata wasn't really sure that he’d learn something, or even be welcomed there. But Hinata is a competitive teenager who didn't think about any consequences when he initially made the decision and someone who chose to stick with it afterwards. He was also looking for new things to work on for himself. Takeda-sensei mentioned that Karasuno has unintentionally made Hinata focus on only the quick attacks/spiking up to now because it was helping the team win matches. Hinata hasn't had the time to improve his other basic skills to be an all-around amazing player. If he stayed in Karasuno, he'd probably be practicing with their usual routine until the National Tournament. There’s nothing wrong with that but being in a new environment like the training camp and not being allowed to spike (since he is just a ball boy), actually made him realize that he can't just keep his focus on spiking.
    Also, learning intuition (instinct + thinking and experience) in sports is very valuable for all future matches. It is not only for understanding player tendencies and habits but also for building volleyball IQ and strategies. :D
    Lastly, receiving (sometimes called passing) is arguably the most important skill in volleyball. You can't spike without receiving the ball first. It's pretty obvious that Hinata sucks at receiving and needs to work on that skill. Liberos (or a player who can receive well like Daichi) can't always receive the balls since they go in and out of the court (or in the case of Daichi, all players rotate on the court, so they can't always be relied upon to be in the receiving positions).

    If hinata had stayed with his team he would have just focused on Spiking majority of the time. But when he's away he gets to work on something which is very important and also hinata's weak point i.e Receiving. Sure there would have been some sort of receiving practice back in karasuno but not the priority. So i disagree with suraj that he's wasting time staying away from the team. But i get where he's coming from and also its easy for me to say in hindsight

    I totally agree with Marketa that what Hinata is doing is somewhat selfish, however in this episode people may or may not have realised that Hinata doesn't have any of the basics down. For example the flashback with Hinata trying to remember the split step, the first thing he remembered from it was smashing. At the time thats all Hinata ever thought about was just the point end of the games rather than the basics. The reason why I think it is more acceptable for what Hinata is doing is because he literally doesn't know the basics of the game. He was forced to practice by himself and did all the hitting. His receives are garbage but in this episode it shows that he can work at it, IF he is forced to observe. If he were to practice with his team and not have gone to the camp he wouldn't have learnt the basics. It's a selfish risk but the quality can result in a massive increase of morale and performance IF he can pull it off

    • @ICavalcadeI
      @ICavalcadeI 2 роки тому +2

      @@Axel-ye8tt It's definitely selfish, but definitely not selfish in a more roundabout way. What's "best" for the team is apparently for Hinata to not develop as a player and just focus on being a mindless battering ram for Kageyama to swing around violently. In that case, Hinata will never develop as a volleyball player and his growth will be stunted. Likewise, in that regard, what the team has been expecting of him up to this point has also been selfish.

    The team is only as strong as its weakest link. If everyone on the team as individuals suck, then no amount of teamwork will help them win. Hinata needs to improve, since he's behind in skill. Which was the conflict of season 2: growth vs stagnance.

    what the others didnt pick up that the characters actually did is that Hinata feels useless without Kageyama, he feels like he isnt worth playing in nationals, plus, Hinata obviously plans on playing Volleyball PAST highschool so the team is only important to a certain level, plus plus, if Hinata just becomes and overrall better more well rounded player everyone will be benefited by that and he wont get that just by practicing spikes with Karasuno

  • @athenamitchell790

    Like a lot of people are saying, Hinata is USELESS on his own lol He's gotta work on his own skills in order to bring more as an individual to his team. A good team takes the strengths of each member and adds, or in Karasuno's case multiplies, them together. If Hinata ain't got skills then 0 times any number is still 0.

    I could have accepted some of your points about Hinata not gaining anything by being a ball boy if he wasn't displaying any signs of development while he was there, but that's plainly not the case. Hinata has made significant progress, and his eagerness to study and use any tools he has to better his overall skills demonstrates a good student mindset. Coach Washijo was harsh, but he was stating the truth when he said Hinata is nothing without Kageyama or anybody who caters to his weaknesses. This is a fantastic opportunity for him to master the fundamentals, which he clearly did not have before.

  • @immasanmiguel4428

    Hinata sucks at volleyball. He's good at one thing and that's because Kageyama makes him good. He has to learn the basics so he can help the team. If he was training with Karasuno, he would not be improving his receiving skills because he'd be practicing as he always does. He's getting to watch how thinks work from outside the court and he's analyzing things from a different perspective, and that's getting him a step closer to learning new things about volleyball. In this case I think Nishinoya would not be helpful, he tried to teach Tsuki and Hinata in season 1 but he's just a genius, he does it by instinct and this people are literally the worst at teaching, he doesn't know how to teach something that comes to him so naturally. I think that what summarazies better this ball boy arc for Hinata is what coach Ukai said: don't go underestimating the position of a ball boy.

    If he was with his own team, I don't think he would have thought to ask nishinoya. Because the coach has made hinata a ball boy he is off the court and only there to watch the players and where the ball goes, something he wouldn't have the time to do if he was practising with his own team.
    Hinata recognises that he can improve her skills as a player all-around rather than just settling for only being good at spikes
