    Thank you very much, I'm a 65 yr young disabled pensioner with arthritis in hip and knee and I've broken my back in two places but with your clear help I've managed to get the drum out quite easily, remove the blockage, clean everything and put it back together. The big smile was when fingers crossed the old girl was draining once again. Took me half a day but worth the money I saved. 🤗😀👍

    This is a fabulous repair video. It should set the standard for how repair videos are made and paced. Clear, crisp details and potential "gotchas" are spelled out at a perfect tempo. The lighting is good and the components and procedures can be easily seen. This video answered questions I had from other similar videos, and I found myself exclaiming, "Oh!" and "So that's how that fits!" as I watched. The icing on the cake is the playlist in the video description to skip right to the relevant parts while working. Thanks for this incredibly helpful video!

    Thanks a heap . Daughters gold chain went missing at christmas . Found it in the pump 8 months later .
    Your video was the key . Pulled it all apart and cleaned the drum . Only suggestion for others . If
    theres water in the base and you can’t see the screw for the pump cover . Feel around and if it is a combo hex and philips type fastner use a 10 mm socket . Better leverage and better feel when removing . As it’s under dirty water there’s that sinking feeling that you maybe stripping threads when using a philips . Not the case as it’s metal into plastic but mechanical types will know what i mean .
    Great opportunity to clean everything at the same time and put it all back together fresh . Hood for another 20 years on the job . Well done with your camera angles . Thanks Ben and Sarah in Wellington

    • @motrepairs
      @motrepairs  2 роки тому +2

      If its dried out you could try filling the machine with water and soaking a couple of hours, that will help more with soap scum then limescale. Otherwise if you get a length of PVC pipe long enough to come out the top of the agitator you can cut two slots in one end to sit over the wings, then drill a hole in the other end and put a bar through to act as a lever.

    • @motrepairs
      @motrepairs  3 роки тому

      You might have a blockage further down the drain hose, but that's very uncommon. Can you get all the water out and make sure nothing in first few centimeters of drain hose? (outlet to right of pump blades in thumbnail for this video.) Or if its an "eco" machine might have a blockage in the diverter valve.
      The burnt smell suggests your pump main be also overheating in which case it will need replacing as well.

I'ver ran empty cycles on hot water with baking soda and vinegar but no improvement.

    • @motrepairs
      @motrepairs  2 роки тому

      If its still not draining then maybe watch my other video about taking the pump off from the outside and check it from that end. Depending what sand you have usually most of the time its just soap scum and comes off with water and scrubbing brush, if you have limescale you will have to chip away at it. If its really stuck on then it will probably not come off in the wash either so you can just ignore it.

    Great video - many thanks! I have a 5.5 Kg F & P that's about 10 years old and need to transport in the back of my car it to a place 400 km away. It's too tall to fit in the car standing upright so I'll have to lie the washer on its side. However, I'm cautious about this because I don't want to accidentally damage it by transporting resting horizontally (instead of vertically). I'd be really grateful if you could advise me of how to prepare and pack the machine's mechanism prior to taking it on this journey.

      Yes lying it on its side is ok, (some water may come out the top of the bowl if its totally flat). You can pack some towels or something between the side panels and the outer bowl once its lying down to stop it banging around.

When i put in a small test load of laundry, i got the error code 37 again... what gives? Get a multimeter and check the pump resistance. If the pump is starting to fail it will overheat after a few minutes, may be enough to drain the first time but not for the rinse. Probably need to replace the pump before it burns out and blows your controller.

Put finger down the drain hole but couldn't feel the impeller. If I still have drain issues I guess I have to come from underneath and pull drain pump? Also what was the button sequence you use to start the drain pump?

    • @motrepairs

      They are all removable, although it might have got stuck in there from gunk and the rubber going hard. Yes if you take the pump off (just unclips, I have another video on that) then you will be able to unblock the impellor. (that's the quickest way but you run the risk of it blocking up with other stuff if you don't take the bowl out and check the top is clear. )

    • @motrepairs
      @motrepairs  3 роки тому

      There is always a bit of water that will flow back in after the pump stops, any water that is in the drain hose will flow back. shouldn't be more that a litre or two unless you have extended your drain hose. If the pump is stopping on its own either the pump is overheating and cutting out (often you will smell this) of there is another fault in say a sensor somewhere that is making the controller stop.

    Thanks so much for your video. I have an error code 37 on my GWL11 US MYN603314. I followed your instructions and didn't find a blockage. The pump motor spins and water drains but seems to back up when getting to the bottom. The agigitator seems to want to move into spin cycle but won't move. Additionally it smells from something burning after the pump runs. What do you suggest? Thanks in advance.

    • @motrepairs
      @motrepairs  2 роки тому

      Burning is probably the pump overheating, then the pump overheat cutout trip. If you have a multimeter check your pump resistance, otherwise start with a new pump. Agitator turning will be the bowl check, it wont start trying to spin until all the water is out.

    It's 18 yo machine so wondered the best place to get a pump. Can u get 2nd hand ones or reconditioned. I see they sre about 80 to 100 bucks. I alredy just cleaned the rpu sensor contacts and that got rid of the fault code. But then the pump started to overheat after just fixing that problem . Maybe when I had machine on side it stuffed the pump ? Seems a coincidence. It's hard to know if worth spending $100 on an old machine. Many thanks

    • @motrepairs
      @motrepairs  Рік тому

      If the pump is turning freely but its cutting out on the overheat then you will need a new pump, if you keep trying eventually the pump will burn out totally and can kill the control board when it does. Timing is probably coincidence/bad luck.

      When the water gets down to where the pump sucks a bit of air it will just churn the water, there is always a little water in the bottom. Is it splashing over the top? That is usually caused by setting high water level without enough washing in it, so either need to set lower water level or put more washing in. If its not splashes then you need to try and follow back where the leak is coming from.

      Do you have both pieces of the pump chamber and the large o-ring back in place? The cap of the pump chamber ( oval with one hole in the top that sits above pump) is needed to direct the water flow or the pump just pumps in circles, then the "trap" part sits on top of that.

    • @motrepairs
      @motrepairs  2 роки тому

      If its blocked and cant turn it will overheat, because it relies on the fan below to cool it. Other then that if it is overheating it will be because the windings are damaged. I'm not sure what they do to "recondition" it, other then put a bit of grease in the seal, i doubt anyone is rewinding the windings. I would have thought they would check resistance and bench test it for a few minutes before selling!
