  • While we wait for our spare parts to repair/replace the front brake discs and pads, we are going to do a service on our 2016 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque. It shouldn't be too difficult to do, but we will show you how.
    The first thing we need is 6.25 litres (wet fill) of 0W-30 engine oil with ACEA C2 specification, which is suitable for Land Rover / Jaguar engines. In my case I chose the Special Tec oil from Liqui Moly. (ACEA C2, API SN, Ford WSS-M2C 950-A, Jaguar / Land Rover STJLR.03.5007)
    You should also change the oil filter and gasket. For this I chose a MANN filter which contains the O-ring.
    After you have done everything, you must reset the oil service message. How to do this is shown in the video.
    If you want to support me, just give me a UA-cam Super Thanks or just buy the used products below over the affiliate links.

    Thankyou so much for the video. I am planning to do it as like yourself me too think that official service interv is waaay to long. I was wondering if i need to lift the car up but now i know that it can be done without the need off it.

    you really should put oil on the o-ring on the filter cap before putting the cap back on

    - I've already do twwice the oil change and each time 5liter is enough
    - The reset service process don't work on my ingenium 2016. i'm so sad!

      Hey, yes I already thought about a new key for the oil cap because this one is a bit tricky to use. Will the kilometres or miles not be reset when you try the service reset? Greetings, Peter

      😄 I know that! On the Evoque it's not as bad as on the Discovery 4. There the frame is even closer. If the oil hits there, then you have a lot of fun cleaning the back.

      @notthatkindofachannel I eventually settled on 20nm though some say 15 up to 25 so I went in the middle

    Great work you might be better buying a proper oil filter removal tool it would make it easier for you, I own a 2018 evoque 2.0L diesel and find I am having a service done twice a year due to oil dilution problem

      Thank you! ☺️ I thought about buying this, but because I already have this, I used it. I couldn't find an oil extension for this 2016 model. It was also a 2.0l diesel. Greetings, Peter

    is it the same step for 2014 diesel 2.2 engine? oil filter location? and reset the oil change? thanks

    • @notthatkindofachannel
      @notthatkindofachannel  7 місяців тому

      Hey, I think for the 2.2 SD4 you'll need a lifter because the filter is on the front bottom of the engine but not directly accessibly from there. The filter housing has a 27mm socket. I don't know if the service reset from the newer ones work for this model. But some did this by pressing both pedals down for 60sec. Best, Peter

    Hallo Peter, schon länger bin ich am überlegen mir einen Land Rover zu kaufen, anfangs dachte ich an einen Discovery, da haben mich dann aber die möglichen Motorschäden abgeschreckt. Nun bin ich am überlegen mir einen Evoque oder Discovery Sport zuzulegen, leider gibt es laut Forum auch dort einige Probleme. Nun meine frage, wie geht es dir mit deinen Fahrzeugen? Welche Reparatur kosten hast du so, und wie viele Kilometer fährst du? Der Treibstoff Verbrauch wäre auch noch interessant.
    Gruß

      Hallo Johannes! Nachdem wir beides hatten, also einen Discovery Sport und einen Evoque kann ich dir folgendes sagen: Diese beiden sind eher einem "normalen Auto/SUV" zuzuordnen und irgendwie nicht das, was einen Land Rover eigentlich ausmacht. Beim Thema Motorschäden ist Land Rover leider durch die Bank nicht sehr zuverlässig. Unser erster LR war Disco Sport mit 38.000 km welchen wir für leichtere Touren nehmen wollten. Da er aber für 4 Personen zu klein war, kam er mit 44.000 km wieder weg. Der nachfolgende Besitzer, mit welchen ich weiterhin in Kontakt stand, hatte mit 56.000 km einen Motorschaden 🤦‍♂️ (Alter 5 Jahre) Halbwegs sicher kann man sich bei diesen Fahrzeugen nur dann sein, wenn man z.B. einen D4 mit Motorschaden kauft und diesen dann komplett überholen lässt. Ansonsten gibt es nur noch die Möglichkeit einen Neuen mit Garantie oder einen jungen Gebrauchten mit Garantieverlängerung zu kaufen. Garantieverlängerung kann bis zu einem Alter von max. 7 Jahren oder 160.000km erworben werden. (ist aber vom Land abhängig da es in der Schweiz z.B. bis 180tkm geht)
      Ich hoffe ich konnte dir ein wenig weiterhelfen! Viele Grüße, Peter

      Vielen Dank, hattet der Disco Sport den 2 Liter Motor?
      Die Garantieverlängerung kann man einfach beim LR Händler machen?

    • @notthatkindofachannel
      @notthatkindofachannel  Рік тому +1

      Hi & sorry für die verspätete Antwort! Ja es war der 2.0L Motor mit den 179 PS :( Genau, einfach beim LR Händler anfragen ob dies aufgrund der Laufleistung und des Alters noch möglich ist. Viele Grüße, Peter

      @notthatkindofachannel Hi, Yes, I have tried the steps exactly the same.
      1. Pressed the start button
      2. Opened the bonnet and drivers door
      3. Pressed the brake and accelerator for 30seconds to 60 seconds
      4. Let go of both pedals
      5. pressed the start button to switch off the car
      6. Closed bonnet and driver door
      7. Pressed the start button
      Did not work for me on a 2016 Evoque Coupe Diesel
