Original Deus Ex game is satire. Even WTC tower are missing. Because of the technical difficulties, but game lore says that Terrorist blowed those towers up. Game was released 2000. Year before 9/11.

I can't remember the number of times I replayed the game (and just parts of it) to get all the possible differences in dialogue. I pulled the convos from the conversation file ingame and had a trix to map out what sequence of events will trigger them. I think my first playthrough clocked out at 50+ hours alone. Such a great game

The amount of emphasis on "bitch" and how the guy says it lol I love it.

Indeed, most players were playing this game at 800x600 or 1024x768 back in 2000. Those were the days! :D
The game actually fits perfectly for 640x480. It wasn't really ever designed well for higher screen resolutions.
People say Gunther Hermann's normal body model looks awful. Well ok, the alternative model used in this video looks even worse.
I find all the HD models ugly tbh.

Every time when JC speaks out the mechs' killphrases or on the verge of taking down a boss, I'd imagine him tossing his sunglasses towards them and the takes out another pair of sunglasses and put it on :P
The question is as a mech, how can agent Navarre know her kill phrase without unintentionally destroying herself. Unless the phrase has to be processed through her ears to work. Maybe I'm overthinking it...
If the killphrase worked just by thought the mechs wouldn't be allowed to know it, so you're probably right.
But even if processing the words through acoustic nerves is required, the mech should be free of any suicidal tendencies for obvious reasons.

Once you're a mech, you become freelance hardware. Whoever built & linked the machinery to the body knows its programs. The killphrase is an override for self destruct. Explosives were built into the person during surgery just in case their new mech abilities became too much to bare in case there was a betrayal coming.
I'm guessing they only know one part of their kill phrase. In the game you find the other half only in Manderley's station. Or the killphrase is only triggered when someone else says it
easy, they dont know it, but the killswitch itself overloads some part of theyr systems so they must know when its "going off" so she knew he used the kill phrase without knowing it herself.

A very unusual game. The main hero JC Denton is a bizzare person too. I feel like this game was made on drugs. You can't just make something this funny AND make serious claims about politics at the same time.

Though a99t33 was kind of rude about it, they're right. Look deeper into most comedy, and it's the political undertones that make it funny and relevant in the first place. Side note, JC Denton's strangeness makes sense considering his true origin.
Um yes you can, on the contrary if someone is always serious they rarely can create enjoyable and meaningful art.

It's a very early version of HDTP, before they remove the NPC models.

Which renderer are you using? I see bloom? I see you're using HDTP models...?
It's been many years and I don't really remember. If I had to guess, I'd say there was SweetFX in there, maybe Kentie's renderer (early version). The HDTP version I was using was the first that came out, which only had Gunter's model and some objects.
D3D10/11 renderers uses bloom and HDR. There's also ENB and ReShade.

Compare to Deus ex 2 where the focus became fancy lighting and physics at the expense of thoughtful storylines, heavy conversations, and meaningful themes. This was the end of the golden age, the gilded capstone. JC WILL RISE AGAIN!
