I'd LOVE to see him live... I live in Hawai'i, and comedians/bands/ performers rarely come out here, which I understand: it's expensive and a headache to travel to the most physically isolated place on earth!

Ben Vincent True, but Netflix does give comedians a sum of money up front, which can definitely come in handy during emergencies, unlike the wildly varying UA-cam monetization. Plus, the social exposure from Netflix is huge. It absolutely helps with future ticket sales and incentivizes people to look up more of someone's work (i.e. their UA-cam channels).
@@MsFuzzipoo That's got to be frustrating. My mom was born and raised in Hawaii, and my friend's husband is native Hawaiian, so I've heard that complaint before. It must be disappointing. You'd think that many performers would want to go so they could have an excuse to spend a day or two taking in the beauty/doing touristy things in Hawaii. I'm in Boulder, CO, and lots of people like to skip Colorado because of the elevation. I mean, I get it. Who wants to go somewhere if they're going to get altitude sickness and be ill for days? Still, it's disappointing.

As a straight man I have to say, this is one of thee best stand up routines I’ve seen in a while. A lot of gay humour and references but never alienates the straight male audience who may not be familiar with them like myself. Also fun and contagious energy matteo gave off the full time which grips and captivates the audience. All in all I hope this dude comes to the uk because I would definitely buy a ticket

I’ve been recovering from being hit by a utility van this past year and dealing with trying to walk again and PTSD. Matteo thank you for giving me a moment of laughter and joy.

@@mason96575 yes the ptsd is a diagnosis from being hit by the van. I had pelvic, rib cage, hip and talus injuries. The utility van was about a 4 ton vehicle that threw me roughly 30’. When I was struck my only thought was, ‘well this is how I die’. It’s not anything I would wish upon anyone, even a mortal enemy.

Usually when there’s a lot of gay humor it can feel like it’s pandering too much or rely heavily on stereotypical humor, becoming a bit of a repetitive drag, but this felt so natural and genuine. I watched this by myself and I can honestly say I was laughing like a maniac and I promise I watch a lot of standup. This was an all timer for me and I can’t wait to tell everyone about it!
I love the audience member on the bottom left with short hair, wearing a jacket, who is just constantly clutching his heart, literally ready to have an aneurism at any moment, I hope he made it out alive, cuz this was one of Matteo's best recorded shows so far.

Absolutely amazing. Third or fourth time I’ve watched this, and I’ve also got it saved in my “emergency serotonin” playlist for when I need extreme cheering up no matter what. Things that are so funny or so good that they are guaranteed to short circuit my stupid brain out of its spiral-and this special is one of them. Bravo, truly. The vibe with the crowd is also immaculate.

@@RonjaSebastian Hope at least a couple things in there can help short circuit a dark spiral! You can also always just start making your own emergency serotonin playlist-I highly recommend adding anything any time you laugh so hard you can’t stop, your stomach starts hurting, or makes you happy tear-up. It has helped a lot when I’m kind of stuck in an anxiety loop.

I kinda love how almost all of his accents and voice work is so on point (or at least "authentic, if exaggerated for comedic effect,") while his Rachael Ray impression foregoes all that and goes straight for "demonic possession."
It's bittersweet to hear Matteo to say that the jokes will be retired after the special, as someone who follows the page for some time it's nice to finally those snippets he's posted to come as a full special finally, some of them are really special. Looking forward to his future materials :)

There's still a lot of hate from straight men towards gay men (usually masking discomfort, confusion, and/or ignorance). Hate towards non-straights has been increasing lately, so y'all male straights who can accept gay men in comedy (and other places) have become a breath of fresh air.
I used to be very open about being queer: I'm a bi/pan/whatever gal. Even though I'm seen as "less threatening" than gay men, there's still a lot of hate for people like me (especially when we're one of the openly queer women who show unwavering support for trans folk 🙋🏻♀️). Over the past few years I've been less open with people until I know where they stand, just for my own safety. It sucks!
Straight guys who are accepting of gay men (as much as some gay/queer people might want to deny it) are extremely important right now. Homophobic people might not listen to the gays/queers when we speak, but they're likely to listen to you. Please remember that, and speak up for us if you can.
On a less serious note: I'm so glad you enjoyed Matteo's comedy. He's fantastic! I get what you mean about identifying with some of what he says: I'm a bi gal, but some of his stories hit home for me too! 💜

I’m a fan of comedy and I hate the PC/censor world we live in. We have become too sensitive and it sucks the energy/entertainment out of everything. I’m a blue collar guy who votes red, shoots guns, hunts, watches football & MMA, goes golfing and pretty much any other manly thing you can think of. IM ALSO a man that watches Ru Paul’s drag race (I’m a sucker for good competition and those bitches bring it 😂), I was in theater in high school, I’ve been to drag shows, I have gay friends and I’m 100% an advocate of let people live their fucking lives. I’m sure you disagree with how I vote but I consider myself more center right. I hate when my party goes after the dumbest shit like gay marriage and abortion. I would rather them focus on government spending, taxes and foreign policy. I’m trying to raise and be the type of person who’s willing to find that common ground and accept people for who they are. We all need to stop trying to shove our beliefs down each others throats and just find that common ground. I’ve had people ask me, what if your son turns out to be gay? If he is gay he’s probably going to be able to beat your straight sons ass lol because I only have one nonnegotiable requirement for my children, they have to learn to defend themselves whether it be wrestling (like me), boxing or MMA. They have to do one. It will teach them discipline and be able to defend themselves or others.
Sorry for the novel but enjoy these conversations that bring people together and push us towards that common ground.

Hello fellow kama'aina!!! I have the same wish... I'm on Oahu which increases my chances (by like 0.1%, really). Realistically I'll probably have to go to the Mainland if I wanna actually see Matteo live ¯\_( ͠° ͟ʖ °͠ )_/¯
I've broken down and done it to see my favorite band, The Mountain Goats, who have like _maybe_ 3 fans in all the islands despite having a huge LGBTQIA following (🙋🏻♀️ I'm a queer/bi/pan/whatever gal so I'm in that group).
Their music just isn't something that appeals to most local people, so I've taken a few trips to Portland to see 'em. I lived in PDX for 8 years: college and a few years of work before moving back here where I was born/raised, so PDX is like my home from another lifetime (it's been decades, and the city has changed majorly but some of my old haunts still stand). I always go to PDX for live events on the mainland, if it comes to that.
*Anyway*
I'd love it if Matteo came to Hawai'i! I know he has a fan base here, but I'm not sure it's big enough to draw a crowd that would make travel worth it / financially feasible.

@MsFuzzipoo GASP I love the Mountain Goats! I discovered them a few years ago -- a hip hop artist I adore named them as his favorite, so I gave them a listen and was gobsmacked. What a beautiful songwriter! I've never seen them live though; in recent years I've become pretty solitary/socially inept and can't handle crowds (Though I had VIP tickets, I didn't attend my favorite band's most recent 25th album anniversary tour [Modest Mouse's Lonesome Crowded West tour], which was depressing. Additionally, I had to almost immediately leave a David Sedaris reading AND a few much-anticipated drag shows, also depressing, because toooo much peoples panic 🫤) buuuut I would really like to see them play at least once in my lifetime..
Anyhoo, I've never found another fan out in the wild! So... NEAT 🙃😬
Buuuut I sorta doubt Matteo will come here anyway -- I live in Oklahoma 😒and the last two drag shows my parents went to were protested.. it's a wee bit scary out here, so 🤷♀️ it's quite understandable if he doesn't. The fucking RANCID homophobia here is truly grotesque. I suppose I will just continue to repeat-play all of his shit and boisterously guffaw alone with my dogs!!

Matteo - I'm watching in bed, desperately depressed. I read the comments about how this made people laugh on tough days and was like, "BET." But I just had to pause the video so I could tell you that I really, actually, genuinely laughed. I've been having a hard time hearing the bird song of hope today and it was scary. Dude, I've always know Matteo is a comedy beast on all the podcasts but this was my first time hearing his actual stand up. What. A. Legend. Hard to find another example of a set that has so many consistent laughs every few seconds. If I was a make-a-wish kid I would wish for a day hanging with Matteo and his friends.

And by God, I'm gonna look up those cooking videos of yours on IG because I've just been doing Japanese food which is great, but it's time to learn some Italian as well, and to learn from someone with your charisma sounds like a great time.

I burst out laughing at the "that's like ordering pasta to smell it". As a Brit with an American husband, I find it delightful just how many Americans love Great British Bake-Off. Indeed one of my favourite UA-camrs, Max Miller - Tasting History, in the introduction to his cook book tells how he was inspired to cook by that programme.
