This got me through the grief when my Dad passed....when my mind wouldnt rest Id climb into bed and just play these...cant go to sleep without them now
truly crazy how everyone here talks about falling asleep to these. Been doing it for about three months now and never looked at comments till now. Glad to see not alone on that lol
It’s like a rite of passage. I started listening to these during the day but they’ve made their way to just before bed every night without fail for 2 years nearly now
1:59:34 *Ricky gives a 30 second monologue about how the show is nothing and they have no regard for their listeners and how he feels guilty about it* Karl: "So anyway there was this parrot"
I started listening to this as a teenager I used to be able to listen to radio from Britain all the way from America and I love them to this day. Karl's a legend
So, I heard Ricky mention Karl's name in stand up, years ago. However, I had not heard any of Karl, Steve, and Ricky until 3 days ago. It's all I've been doing since.
Oh you lucky person. You have all the XFM shows, the podcasts, the Ricky Gervais show (animated version of the podcasts), an idiot abroad and Derek. Also, he's got his own sitcom called sick of it. Enjoy!
Whenever I feel down. I pop this on, or any of their podcasts. It really does take it away and makes me smile! I wonder if at the time, if they knew what they was creating?! If they knew it would become what it is now. Absolutely brilliant.
I love how Karl at 15:35 gets on with his work, getting out his part while ignoring Ricky butting-in but the very moment Ricky poses the question of if he'd be a frog, ZAP! All his attention is focused on it.
Just watched all of monkey news, all of Karl's diary, and all 3 episodes of questions for Karl ! absolutely hilarious, some of the funniest shit I've ever watched, total laugh out loud material. Ricky you are a comedy genius. Karl you are so funny and Stephen you are . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .very tall ;) only joking bud you all crack me up
"chewing the fat" actually stems from times when food was scarce and people would just chew the fat for as long as possible to make it seem like they were still eating...and that.
Bonfire The word is actually derived from Middle English bonefire, meaning literally "a fire of bones." The earliest appearance of the word is glossed ignis ossium-Latin for "fire of bones." And a citation from the 15th century confirms that this is not just a learned folk-etymology. Cold Shoulder Origin The origin of “cold shoulder” dates back to the 1800s when it was a literal reference to serving a cold piece of meat to a guest who was no longer welcome at a dinner party. Giving someone the cold shoulder about whatever meat they had cooked was a clear, unspoken signal that they were no longer welcome, and it was time for them to vamoose. The phrase has since evolved to take on the figurative meaning we use today. Poor Karl!
@@icarusandtherabbit ah but that's what makes Karl so good. His ability to take no notice of them. His ability to believe in what he believes. He is an extremely unique person, and has done very well for himself career wise on the back of Ricky and Steve mocking him. The fact is often he is right, his theories although not the norm get you thinking and as he always said, once people are thinking he is happy. In fairness to Ricky and Steve they are great mates with Karl and have looked after him extremely well which they have also done well out of.
Adam Subtract But didn’t Karl say as long as you say something nice, you can also say something horrible. “Chinese. Great people. Women very attractive...before they get to 30”
I love how Karl just sort of organically took over this whole show over time because of Steve’s inquisitiveness into his way of thinking and (frankly) Ricky’s laziness
Karl's story on what's tomato with you is true, and Ricky and Steve slag him off. It's like the hanging bacon story, trivial but slightly interesting and plausible. So much shite comes out its hard to believe anything he says.

I'm surprised they didn't say to the worm story "So if you cut a worm's tail off it lives, well if you cut a man's foot off he lives too. What's so extraordinary about that?" To be fair though, I think them taking the piss for the tomatoes being poisonous story was harsh, I found that genuinely interesting (if it's true.) Also has a bit of a moral, that people think they know things to be true, but another variable that they didn't consider was actually leading them to a false conclusion.
