Love the Mindthief. I’m playing a 4 character solo campaign (probably the only time I’ll be able to play through and I want to experience as many mercs as possible) and she’s consistently the last one alive dicing up 2-3 enemies with the burns I’ve been holding onto for the whole encounter.
I love these vids, I find them more helpful than the general guides. I was stoked to start gloomhaven after JoTL because of your spellweaver vid, now I’m even more excited!
Empathetic assault is great. Solid initiative quite a useful oneshot on the top. But the best part is the bottom. Heal self is handy, move 2 is very often is just enought. So it can be used just for moving around. This card starts to shine then you enhance heal with blessing option. The Rat can decrease modifier deck to only 12 cards, with additional two +1 damage redraw cards. So blessings would have much higher chances to proc. Even with damage 1 attack you will do 6-8 damage on x2 from blessing, up to 10 with posion on target. This greatly synergies with Brain leech bottom action.
With the change of bringing frosthaven house rules for advantage and rolling modifiers, is this video still relevant regarding the part of avoiding rolling modifiers? would be so nice to see new guides with the new house rules, especially a video about perk priorities on most classes.
I think you are underestimating the summon in gnawing horde. 6 Hp is good enough for at least 2 hits. And 2 damage + poison is good damage. Ok the move 1 makes it not able to follow into the next room. But it's a good distraction/poison dealer for the last room. Charge into the last room invisible. next round go slow and play the summon(and gain xp). Then go quick again. Rat attacks and poisons the enemy and you can follow up. Also note that you can ignore the augment part of augments when you want to. So silent scream can be played as an attack 2(+2 from mind's weakness), 1xp card. Not great but getting more xp is always nice. I also loved taking long rests while invisible with my mindthief. I think the mindthief doesn't have that good dark generation at level 6.The only dark generation is into the night top at that point. I'd pick corrupting embrace at level 6 and dark frenzy at level 7 for that reason. Dark frenzy does have better xp generation and the bottom is very playable.
I just never get much use out of the summon and find that playing differently works best for me. Also, I fully agree, it's totally fine to take corrupting embrace first!
Thanks for the video! Just a little feedback: First, I would put strategy at the beginning, as you anyway mention it while explaining card choices. Second, final cards choices lack slow initiative (only two cards >70, and no cards > 80), which contradicts strategy in general. Because of that, on some levels you may want to pick different cards just because of slow initiative
Oh man! My Mindthief, Nicodema, had Scurry and Perverse Edge through level 9! Unfortunately for me, she also had the [spoiler] Seeker of Xorn quest. 😥 I will bring Nico II to TTS game, hopefully, and then we will see the real conclusion / town and road events from her retirement.
I'll add - Mind Thief was my first character and got up to level 8 before retiring. Agree on the level three pick. I went with the strengthen, but it was rare for it to work for more than one attach. The three move would have been more helpful, I think.
For me, I just think that Cranium overload is too powerful to pass up. Ever since I played with the hp limit removed I always find myself using it and loving it!
Great video! And I totally agree about Silent Scream over Brain Leech. Do you think a Mass Hysteria bottom build (with Minds Weakness and Frozen Mind) could work if you knew what you are doing? With some ice making items and stamina potions, I think you could be a serious threat with the high damage and constant stunning. And I don't know if calling them back each rest and replaying them would mess with the flow too much.
Thanks! I think you could make it work with a few key enhancements and some higher prosperity items if you were really good and diligent about knowing when to dial it back so that you weren't always exhausting! Food for though for when I do the advanced build series!
Personally I would just replace submissive for brain leech, I don't truly find myself out of position a lot because I am very good at mindthief. But I WILL SAY that for beginners I actually do not mind silent scream (I actually did that in the physical game)
Also I believe that corrupting embrace is better to pick first compared to dark for the simple reason that corrupting creates dark and not using invis on into the night SUCKS unless it is end of scenario
Come and watch me play Magic The Gathering: Arena!! The BEST decks to beat the meta!! ua-cam.com/channels/XFLYWi1sEIbgSb-kYvssJg.html

Thanks again for great videos. I feel like that kid who’s letting someone do my homework for me. I really appreciate all the info you share.
My pleasure and I always appreciate the nice comments! :)

Love the way you did timestamps! Thank you!
Thanks for noticing!

Nice! Sending this to my friend who plays the Mindthief in our party.
Can´t wait for the Scoundrel walktrough :D
Sweet, hope they enjoy! Scoundrel will be out in about 3 weeks I would guess

I really wish this was in written form as well for quick reference!
That intro is sweet!
Thanks Eric!

Agreed the initiative is not ideal but having a couple cards 70+ is kind of the best we can do while picking optimal cards, but to each their own!
Really helpful!👌
Thanks a lot!
I like bottom of vicious blood with top of corrupting embrace with mind's weakness in effect.
Yep that works well too!
@@neuralnetgames6540 your level 3 choice is solid though. I'll definately pick it for my next mindthief. Excellent video keep up the good work.
@@n7pantboi747 Thanks and will do!

Great cards for sure!
Really like this series!

Thanks Graeme!
Ya it's pretty tricky sometimes
My thoughts about level 3 cards .. skip level 4 and get both level 3 cards
Great build using both l3s. But personally I love looting and my party hates not getting gold, so pilfer is my compromise.
For me, I just think that Cranium overload is too powerful to pass up. Ever since I played with the hp limit removed I always find myself using it and loving it!
It really can add up. Better for lower difficulties when it's not so tight and you can loot some serious coin lol
Why is it easy for the MT to get dark? There is only one card that generates dark or do you enhance one of your cards to generate dark?
there are 3 overall, into the night, corrupting embrace and phantasmal killer
My 1st class was this ratty goddess. Still in my top 3 for fun flavor
I have come to love the rat more and more over time for sure1
Great video! And I totally agree about Silent Scream over Brain Leech.
