"I believed in myself and I believed in my band" That's the reason for Jason success and the real reason why all the fans still love Jason. He's the best
Tallica ended when he left. Only a few good songs in twenty years since.
@@LoveProWrestling
Bullshit. Hardwired was their best album since the Black Album.
@@2000jago If your in a band? it is your band, dickcheese. Probably something you will never get to understand...
They are all the best.
Watching this I think I like this dude too
Jason wrote the main riff for Blackened. Jason was the power house behind Metallica in live concerts
Kinda seems like all of them were an A+ live
Newsted is the man. So cool to see him healthy and happy. Got to meet him years ago during the Load tour. He gave each one of us a few minutes. This was before people had to pay for a meet and greet. My buddy got backstage passes for us from his friend who was a radio guy and when he told me he thought of me first when he got the passes because im a die hard Metallica fan for life. It was so cool and Jason was the only one who came out yo see us. There were only about 10 people who were lucky enough to get backstage but I was just so stoked and Newsted was so damn cool to us. We talked about Sepultura and how much Arise kicked fuckin ass. I asked him about the Flosam Song Hammerhead and told him it's one of my favorite songs of any metal band ever and he said thanks man. The other Guys in the band didn't come out to see us but Newsted fuckin did and he wore the Flaming skull Metallica shirt that night so I bought one too 😆. I still have it and don't wear it too much because it's a keepsake from that show but now my daughter found it and loves it so i let her wear it once in a while 👍 so damn cool to see you get my all time favorite bass player in metal on your show. I could listen to Jason tell stories for days man. You got my subscription right now 🤝
Jason is the kind of guy you could trust with your life if you're his friend. All he wanted to do was not let anyone down . The fans and his band mates. It's impossible to know the future but I'm sure Cliff didn't expect to die and it was such a shock when it happened. I know Cliff would've been proud to have Jason to take care of bass.
He's still so emotional as if he left yesterday - that's why I'm 100% convinced that Metallica lost its heart with Cliff and its soul with Jason.
Melodrama & hyperbole 101.
If they've lost their heart & soul what's driving them now?
@@chrisrodsa210 nothing.
@@chrisrodsa210 they’re zombieeeeeessss
@@chrisrodsa210 James AA debt and divorces
He is such a class act, after all that happened he doesn't bash Metallica.
Why would he? He still getting that monthly Metallica check that allows him to live the life playing the crappy music that nobody cares about.
@@justpalms9978 he left Metallica so I'd say his crappy music days are behind him now. They haven't put a good record out in years. Everything I've heard from him since leaving them has been great.
@@mikexxx11 you're clearly still a closet Metallica fan if you're on an obscure Jason Newsted interview 20 years after he left the band 😂
It was his decision to leave Metallica, he didnt get fired so theres no reason to be bashing the band. I know he left because of the tight grip that James and Lars had on Metallica but he knew that from day 1 when he joined.
@@khall187 well I watched because it was in my suggestions And actually after And Justice For All I could not give a shit about Metallicas music. I've been a metal head probably longer than you have been alive. First time I saw Merallica they were still an opening act and not well known yet. As far as Newsted I've been a fan of his playing since rhe early Flotsam and Jetsam days. So I think all your assumptions are wrong.
Jason was, in my honest opinion, the most exciting member of Metallica during the Black Album era.
He was absolutely ferocious live and I really miss his presence in the band.
Thanks for all the Golden years, Jason.
What an achievement 👏🏼 ❤️
Would love to hear all of Jason's tapes/demos
Jason’s hair looks bad ass!!!!
Jason will ALWAYS and forever be my favorite metal bassist. I truly miss him being in Metallica but I'm happy that he's happy doing his own thing.
Jason is fantastic, was a great fit
My first Metallica show was back in 94 on the Summer Sh*t Tour with Candlebox (replacing AIC), Suicidal Tendencies and Fight (Rob Halford Band), and watching Jason playing was amazing, he was a beast on stage. To me there are two Metallica eras, Cliff and Jason; Trujillo looks more than a bass session player, the guy is amazing, but Jason's legacy will last forever and I really hope that in a near future we could see Jason doing a world tour once again for the sake of the metal community, we deserve it.
Great to hear from Jason again. He was something of an idol of mine growing up, I had the "Newsted" hair cut and a close enough looking 5 string bass. Man just has a great attitude.
Every single time I stumble upon Jason talking in a video, I come out of that experience feeling good with a smile on my face. What a great dude.
I love My Friend of Misery. One of Metallica's best imho. The lyrics are also a great reminder to not take politricks too seriously or get caught up in all that. Excellent bass on the Black Album over all. Cheers man!
Jason with long hair is just badass
"I believe in myself & I believe in my band" The man is awesome. He is a cool dude
My Friends Of Misery by Jason Newsted when he was with Metallica is by for one of my favorite song of that album and his bass playing during his intro gives me chills today.
Nobody can say anything bad about jason. He’s an awesome bass player with great skills and his contribution to music is unbelievable….Your the man Jason 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
hell yeah jason your a soldier, your stage presence is amazing as well as your humble attitude, thanks for all your work and metal madness brother 🤘👊
My Friend of Misery and Wherever I May Roam are probably two of my favorite songs off TBA.
Every comment here talks nothing but love for Jason! Honestly, scroll down and read any comment, and you shall see nothing but positive comments & sheer love for the guy!
We miss you Jay! And thank you for your dedication & contribution for making the best era for Metallica (in my humble opinion)! 🤘😊
You cant help but love the guy. He is 100% passionate and very missed in Metallica
I got too see Metallica with cliff on the killem all your and ride the lightning. Cliff died and we went to see Metallica with Jason. Just after he joined. He blew everyone away.
He was awesome.
Sadly he left and Metallica did too.
Even when I was a kid I thought Jason was the coolest member. Stage presence, look, vocals, etc. Always loved how he wore Metallica shirts too.
He comes across like such a humble and down to Earth dude.
He's genuine, yea.
He definitely doesn't come across as humble - he comes across as boastful. Kirk is genuinely humble.
@@hinjurock70 right so thats why when the rest of the band stayed back stage he came out and spoke to every single fan and was genuine and nice
@@aaronwillis6179
When was this?
@@hinjurock70 after every single show theres footage and my uncle saying he was the most down to earth guy he ever met when he saw them at san diego in 1992
Love the content! I would just ask that whoever is mixing the volume levels to lower the intro/outro music? It's absurdly loud compared to the the actual interviews.
agreed... audio levels are all over the place
Also, the interviewer is way louder than Jason.
great to see Jason - looking forward to the full interview
You know when Jason newsted growing his hair and doing more public interviews and unboxing projects something big is coming about......🤪
Well if you think it is playing metal again it ain't that.
I’m assuming it’s because of the whole 30 year anniversary thing but part of me hopes he performs with them live at the end of this year for Metallica’s 40th anniversary.
I guess he will play with metallica again…. At least some shows. 🤘🤘
@@metalpriest1 he has already said he can't play that stuff anymore because of health reasons.
@@burnsZY85 When the debate was going on if he would join Megadeth some people were saying that as an argument why he couldn't and his wife posted on instagram and said that he won't be joining Megadeth, but he can still kick ass
I got to see the Justice tour at Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto. Best fkn days man.
I really enjoy listening to jason talk. Him and James are really ellocuent. They are both front men, no wonder they werent able to make it work.
Great interview. Jason is just awesome!
Man, with all these new Jason interviews I’m really finding myself wanting him back in Metallica. At very least it would be awesome to do a few “black album nostalgia” gigs or something.
I know it won’t happen. But it would be cool.
That was super interesting. All the "inside" stuff and even how merch sales, food and drink were split up between the entire crew.
Great interview
Damn, DAMN "I believed in myself and I believed in my band." "It was my f-n band and guess what? There's no bigger one" I'd save this guy whatever it takes man, whatever it takes.
well said, got goosebumps as he said that, so much love and dedication, its just beautiful!!!!
My first concert was Metallica on the Black album tour. Jason was fucking amazing!! Was and still is my favorite guy in Metallica past and present whether hes in the band or not. How crazy wouldve had been if he joined Megadeth for there new album coming out??
I love to hear this guy talking. J is the man. thanks for the interview and uploading this
Amazing Jason, as usual. MFOM riffs are great
Absolutely will always have so much respect for Jason Newsted. Appreciate you Jason.
How not to love Jason! Miss Him.
Thank you Jason
'...Misery' was always my favourite track on the record. An epic for the album even if it wasn't a ten minute instrumental.
Superb...my deepest respect to Jason, was always true to Metallica...
Great interview...
This man is amazing.
This is the guy that is responsible for connecting with so many people because he too was a fan of the band and a member. He is so talented and I really loved the echobrain project, Newsted and his other side gigs. i never bought another album after Garage Inc. Its always a pleasure hearing a new interview and catching up with him.
Echobrain was and still is incredible - could have been huge, no question about it!
A living legend
I always wonder what happened to all the props of the Wherever We May Roam tour. Like where did the diamond shaped stage go? Where's Lars' iconic white Tama? That kind of stuff. Should be in a museum
I remember being a little surprised to see Jason wearing a Johnny Cash t-shirt once. But, it made sense.
Jason is rad!
God damn, I love Jason.
those t-shirts just looked so cool!!! loved the fireskull longsleeve of the load-era!
Jason is truly a gem within humanity. I cannot find ANY fault in this man. What a humble and giving man. I aspire to be like people just like him. Resilient, forward thinking, thoughtful, considerate, man of principles, and raging metalhead. 🫡
That's my favorite song on that album! Love the bass line...
Jason resonates with a lot of us because of his humble attitude. I pray he stays healthy and safe. Kirk is also there with him, character wise, the fame or vanity did not get to their heads. Stay safe Jason!😎👍
Only James would not appreciate Jason wearing Metallica Shirts!!! James never accepted his friend ship or Lars. It's a miracle he put up with them as long as he did!!!
The guy seems very down to earth. Very eloquent and intense at the same time. And talking to the interviewer by his name. A very nice, respectful, bad ass human being. I love hearing his interviews. So well done. Thank you Jason and Joshua. Great interview.
My hero
We love jason man hes a good bass player and a awesome musician🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Man I miss and love jason
Jason is a straight up dude...
What a legend and giant in music
Dude I love rob but Jason I’m guitar player but you was my hero in Metallica back in 88 89 until you left your stage personality is unreal ma I miss you so much I’m the band but I gotta respect your Choice take care bro always remember you are the man and that you made it happen
What an absolute legend.
Great fucking interview 🤜🤛
I know Jason isn't usually praised for his bass playing but he's my favorite Metallica bass player. Great pick player. He kept up with James on AJFA. You can't totally hear it but still.
Dave Murray and janick gers wear maiden shirts onstage. pretty badass to me
Jaz was like Larz as far as promoting & pushing the band, gotta love that
the only thing missing from Metallica is having Jason fly out for a few shows to pop on stage and hit up some songs. I get he can't physically do the full shows any more. But a guest spot for playing my friend of misery would be amazing
Jason is metal,... My favorite bass player in metallica
Such a talented class act. I hate seeing the videos of him being bullied by the band. Hope he is well!
5:21 how the fuck does he recall this level of detail? I traveled for a year and could barely remember the last city I was in.
“Basically I was trying to create an alternate to Cliff’s anesthesia for my live bass solo. So yea, it’s anesthesia played using my one dimensional picking pattern”
Jason Newstead = Legend 🍺🍺
i always loved how he always wore metallica shirts and lets face it pushead had the bad ass designs
I always found it amusing people ranked on bands wearing their own merch on stage.
It’s free, clean shirts that are available in quantity…some of these guys were touring over twelve months…
Jason - what a man. What a credit he was to metallica.
I love that Jason's got long hair again
I never appreciated Jason while he was there and I think too many looked down on him because he was “the guy” after The Guy in Cliff Burton and he played with a pick, as stupid as it sounds that always irked me but man do I appreciate the fuck out of what he did with my favorite band and his 110% he gave every night and dedication to his band was second to none, Thank You Jason
i've never understood why people gave Jason a hard time for playing with a pick, especially when Ellefson did it, too.
@@ktw70 Metallica was always criticized more than it should, and megadave praised too much for little things 😂😂
During this interview Jason is half cut 🍺
Wish Jason would cone back to Metallica the music was much better then the new ones they put out without jason 😢 He contributed alot of the success they achieved with justice and the black album
I bought that shirt because I thought Jason was a badass. I still believe he’s a badass.🤘🏼. Enjoy your small country Mr. Newstead.
He is the King
Underdogs Rise
The baseline reminds me alot of Anesthicia/Puling Teeth
Only Jason could fill the void that Cliff left. There is no way the "black album" would have been huge without Jason Newsted's contributions. They let him unbox their deluxe set on their UA-cam channel, which means they haven't forgotten.
Lars was really the mastermind of tallica’. Gotta respect it man.
WOW....Jason said, The Black Album went Double Platinum in Malaysia. Yes...Metallica was one of the band that bring huge impacts to many of Metal bands, Metalhead and musician in Malaysia. But....only in 2013 they played live in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. I remember, in the early set that night, James apologies to all the Malaysian fans, because its a late for Metallica to perform in Malaysia. They should come here maybe 20 years ago. For your information, after that show, Malaysian fans remembered the live date as a Hari Metallica Malaysia (Malaysia Metallica Day).
Flotsam and Jetsam great band.
great song "my friend of misery" :)
KNOTFEST PLS REJOIN HIM AND MAKE BLACK ALBUM LIVE WITH JASON COREY YOU CAN DO IT
I miss him.....................................
@Lamar Loyde because I f***ing want to...............................................................................................................................................
Jason was amazing, and gave his all and they still treated him like shit
Always thought Jasun should have worn a Flotsam and Jetsam shirt on stage.
Jason Newsted is cool dude lol!
He's the f*cking best 🤘
Jason was one hell of a team player, they just never fully accepted him as one of them..
Ahole move on their part but it was what it was..
Its something unpredictable but In the end is right..
I hope you had the time of your life..🤘✌️💪😎
Hahaha, mid-sentence... "What was I talking about again?" ...This happens to me WAY too often lately (when I smoke certain cannabis strains)
Jasons energy was second to none man. He gave you a show and that was as metal u can get. Mehh. The good ol days
