I'm a new subscriber, having watched more recent videos first, I've been screaming "Mmmeedddiiiiicc" for every dead animal. Love the banter and the general content. Thanks from Ireland.
Long distance paths will test any mans mettle. You will look back on this in the future with fondness. When you face uncertainty like this, as to whether you'll make it or not, it adds to the adventure. Loving this series Haze. The inner man is showing through.
You need to go back, when you have a fortnight to do it. Reduce the mileage, but go over the tops. Take a rest day, or two and treat yourself to a beer in every pub you pass! I wild-camped, pub beer-garden camped, had two nights in Reeth, on a campsite and one luxury night in a hotel, on the last night. It was the most enjoyable hiking experience of my life and I have done a fair bit, in my time. I am a new subscriber and am just trundling through your vids, at random. Loving it! Off to the woods on Monday, in a fair weather window, for an over-nighter. It might be the last opportunity this year, so like the Coast to Coast, it has to be done!
You have such a great sense of humor. I know this is long over now but I am sitting here cheering you on LOL. Even in best years of hiking and climbing I could never have done 1/4 of this walk
Seriously impressive determination to continue when your body starts to fail you. I tempted my first multi day hike the other month with the Wiltshireman but failed after 35miles, living and learning and eager to do better. Great work Haze. Cheers Tim.
No point giving yourself serious, long term damage by overdoing it mate. No shame in being sensible enough to know when to stop. You can always do the 2nd 1/2 another time. I intended to packraft the whole of the west to east Great Glenn Way, but bottled it at loch ness (it's a fucking SEA and my packraft is tiny. I'd have been all over the news if I'd had tried it! :-D). Posted my packraft home and hiked the rest. Turned out to be a great choice, stopped at some nice places and met some nice folks :-)
Great video as I watched them all. My wife and I are doing the C2C in July/August 2018, but at more leisurely pace of 14 days hiking with extra nights in Grasmere and Richmond. Love the honestly of some of your challenges and the humor to to wash it down..alone with a few pints. (We'll be joining you on that ritual.) As a couple of American's that have never further north than the Tate in London, we look forward to the English countryside.Let's hope the Yorkshires serve up some better weather. I look forward to more videos. Haze on...
Oh my goodness. All at the same time it was the best, hardest and scariest thing I ever did. Really, not to over state it, but it changed me in regards to proving to myself I can do more than I thought. I'm excited to do our next one and we are eyeing the West Highland Way. My wife equally loved it as well. Met some great people, enjoyed my "full English breakfast", and drank some wonderful ales. The Wainwright and Naked Ladies were two of my favorite. Also had some great local IPA's at small northern pubs. I'll stop here, but could keep going as it was life changing for me.
I'm really impressed with how you kept up, in spite of the knee and ankle. It's obvious even from your walking alone that it was very hard and painful.
2 bottles of wine and things got spicy! Great film making, love the story and the walking in the footsteps of your grandad. I noticed that as soon as you crossed the border the cap came out. Like you didn't want to mistaken for a tourist. I want to to do this route so much now, it looks amazing.
You're growing in my estimation Mr Haze. Good job it's not the South pole or they'd be lopping your bits off. Well done. Yer granddad would be proud. Looking forward to E 3.
Epic mate! Big ups to you Haze for fighting through the pain and following the footsteps of your grandad. Anyone who has done any serious walking will know what you are going through with the injuries and aches and pains, oh and the wrong turns :). Can't wait for the next instalment.
I'm loving watching these. Off there myself in less than two weeks. What time of year were you doing this in? You keep saying it's cold, but looks jolly sunny and warm in every shot...
Go on Hazey, well done son, true grit.Better than the world cup this.A propper good old school adventure. I am a fellow iron man triathlete and just love breathing that rarified air.Its all in the mind. What ankle.Throw those stones and never give up.
Alot people go wrong here and head down High Street. Been there done that. Doh! Briliant series Haze. Like the way you cut the cloth. Enjoy all your vids. Subscribed. Nice one. Stay safe. Johnny.
Great Effort Hazey, As a Grandad My self I know your Grandad will Be well proud and Chuffed with you, Very Entertaining as per usual, Good Luck Fella, Les.
Good on you for cracking on through the pain.. Did you notice the massive new tree planting schemes as you went past Ravenstonedale? Me and a few others planted 250,000 trees up there the winter before last.
Good going Hazey considering the injuries. I've had a very poor ankle, which has kept me away from multi day hikes but is getting better. One thing. Odds are you have flat feet, which puts pressure on the tendon running at the base of your calf and beneath your ankle. If you do (check) you need good arch support just for a start as far as healing goes - insoles! Otherwise brilliant - hats off. All the best. Mark
Hello Haze, I once camped with a friend next to a welsh mountain stream, We drank the water used it to live on for 3 days. On the 4th day we took a long walk up stream. Lol we found 3 different dead sheep lying in the stream. We were not ill.
There's a saying that as long as the stream is fast and you're more than 20ft downstream or summat you're good. I've done the same. Had a good old slurp and then passed a bloated sheep a few metres up. No worries.
We can only do what our bodies will allow us to do. Sometimes we may not agree, but the body will always win the argument. I am just getting to this series of your coast to coast. Take care.
Very nice to see the picture of your grandad outside of the pub must have been a good inspiration on you did your grandad do the same walk has what you're doing
Good stuff. I feel your pain. Did it nearly 30 years ago with a few mountain summit diversions. 200 miles in 10 days, and it's the toughest physical thing I've done. If I did it again it would be with a few rest days interspersed between.
Yo. Did the Coast to Coast last year. FWIW, I had the same experience as you. I was in bad shape coming through Shap. Knees were killing me. Took a wrong turn right out of Shap by that quarry. The good news is that was the low point. After Kirkby Stephen, I slowly got better. I hope the same for you. You've got it, man. You'll make it. Heading back to your island to start a 3-month LeJog walk on Sunday. Wish me luck.
Really enjoying it: the walk, comments and scenery. The accent's cool, a bit like the bird in Game of Thrones, no I dont fancy you, John Snow...and it's no way a shit vid. Love it...thanks.
Quality. Just finished a 10hr shift and I’m knackered but stayed up to watch this. Gripping stuff mate, well done. I wanted to see the booze session in the Black Bull though ....... you bag off with a fit barmaid or did the Swedish women’s netball team arrive ?
I'm fine with 11 mile days, but once did the Bataan Death March that was 26miles with 56lbs of gear... it was Hell taking me 9 hours to complete. Couldn't imagine doing 20miles or more a day, amazing journey
Was it Yogi bear the famous Jellystone Yogi or John Logi bear the inventor of telly relaxation technique you used?..........Lovein the vid Hazester thanks man :-)
Love that its your grandads trip that inspired you to do the coast to coast. Hope the knees better and I'm glad you liked my art work on that post. Cock n balls are my tag! 😉 Take care brotha

Hi, I know this is an old video, but hopefully you might answer my questions. Where did you get your ordinance map from? Was it easy to follow? Was it up to date/did it cover everything correctly? Would you recommend something different? You probably said all of this at one stage or another, so just humour me, I'm old! Brightest Blessings to you and yours. Monica. ♥
I've just watched Parts 1 & 2. They were brilliant & I'm thoroughly enjoying the story so far. How do you charge your batteries? Whats the tent? Looking forward to the next installments. Be safe & enjoy.
Its always the simple things. As I live in a caravan, its 8 years since i last had a bath or used a toilet that doesnt need manually emptying out daily, and the thought of booking a night in a hotel just so i can have a bath and flush a toilet. Knowing me, I would do that and find I get a room with a shower.
love it got up for work. saw you posted guess what ? late for work keep it coming best wishes from oz if you ever come this way ill show you how to gold prospect
I lost a wheel trim for my Skoda Octavia in 2006 on a trip from Glasgow to Blackpool. I know it’s a long shot but you didn’t happen to notice it when you went over that motorway bridge did you. It’s just that they can only be bought in packets of four and I only need one. If you seen it I could go down and collect it. Then again it might be on another part of the motorway. Thanks in advance.
I would love to walk and wild camp across the country, but i think i would be too scared to do this alone. have you had any bad experiences while doing this.
really enjoying these coast to coast, I'm currently plucking up the courage to do it myself, which way would you recommend now you have done it, robins hoods bay to st bees or the way you went? All the best and nicely done so far! :D
