Here’s another Super Thanks Abel for yet another great camp. And your 100th video no less. Well you did say that you couldn’t wait to get out and camp in the snow mate. And there it is, the first of a few camps over these winter months done and dusted. The views of the snow-capped mountains surrounding you were fantastic, but watching you out in the cold made me happy to be in my warm home and more than happy to leave that type of camp to you. Great news about Victoria’s pregnancy and congratulations on the upcoming birth of your daughter mate. Oh man, I can tell you from experience that there is nothing like a Princess who will wrap you around her little finger. Cherish every moment because the years pass much more quickly than we realise. Oh yeah, that snow is just what I wanted to see. I went high elevation camping a couple nights ago in Colorado (US) with a slight chance of snow but only got some frost. At least the days will start getting shorter now where I live.

Great video...simple...raw nature, basic comforts in a winter setting (shelter, food, heat, hot drinks, etc.). I like a person who absolutely enjoys their food, and you can see how appreciative you are of it. Food is a powerful thing. And that shot of the mountains in the moonlight at about 16:20...wow, what a great atmosphere...absolutely worth it. Congrats all around...
Well. Don't now what to tell exactly but a big shout out from the other side of the planet. I have stumbled upon several other channels here from all over the world doing camping in the wilderness and this is what i envy you for: your easy access to wilderness. At least here in germany this would we not allowed...

Abel, what a memorable video. You are one bad dude. Climbing a freaking mountain and putting up a tent in a snow storm with a hangover. Now that’s another level. No heat, no fire, a totally different venue. That sleeping bag and tent are simply fantastic. Food looked incredible. Wagu steak looked good and I love the look of your pancakes. 1st thing is Congratulations to you and Victoria on the baby girl on the way. I’m a new subscriber and have watched about 20 of your videos and have really enjoyed them all, but I must say the first few I saw all I thought you ate were hot dogs 😂. I love camping in the winter or some extreme conditions it’s so much fun and relaxing. One thing I had never seen was the cup filters you make coffee with, I did buy some to try them out and I must say they make a better cup of coffee than the pour over or percolator. Looking forward to the next video.

I used to pack the hob nobs at the factory. We were able to buy the breakages. They also made the mini cheddars there too.

This was an interesting change hunkered down in a tent in snowy conditions. I must say,however, I really enjoy the campfire and trees. They are all good and I watch every one of them. Keep up the good work.

Great video. Interesting how different it is to watch than being in that environment overnight. I think I enjoy going a few times per year to enjoy watching a trip like this from home most of the time and plan for next time and how Ill improve things.

Hi Abel, We lived in Alaska with the military. For a camp like this, the higher off the ground, the warmer you’ll be. Difficult to do when you’re carrying your camp on your back. This was a very interesting camp. But I enjoy each that you do, including the cabin camps.

This is much more the tramping style of camp that I'm used to. I find it very interesting to see how modern equipment really works in these conditions.
Yes to trying out different tents and equipment - always intriguing. The Zen Biv for example is something I once contemplated trying to DIY something similar - so seeing a fully sorted product in action is really good.
And congrats on the first child - a whole new adventure in your future. FWIW my wife and I did manage a number of multiday tramps in the North Is (mainly around Te Urewera) with our first baby. The longest was 5 nights. It can be done - although it was a humungous pack I was carrying.

1400m camp! Enjoyed watching very much. Fantastic footage Abel, gear held up well, thought you were quite restrained at dinner time, usually it's multiple hamburgers... alpine-man portions. Do like the campfire footage, a welcoming cosy feel.

Lol great camp. So the ups....great views, your butter didn't disappear this time, again great food, and a great tent and sleep system, and no wekas to bother you and steal food. Downs....you broke something on your camera again, no fire , no chair, and I kinda like having a tarp for porch cover. Give Victoria love from us over here in the US.

I love my Staika tent. It has endured severe storms, including hail, snow, downpours, etc. When I purchased it new, it was $600.00 in the mid-90s. I looked at its current price and it is more than $1300 USD. My tent has no tears and I have maintained the zippers and have none replaced. It is one strong and stable tent. This is another great adventure and the video is excellent. So, since it was raining at my location, I thought some hot chocolate and chilli sounded good to me while you were in the cold and blizzard conditions.
Yeah the stika is a beast this is like a tuned down version being a red label and some slight adjustments to the design.

Love your videos. It's fun to see someone fight against the elements, sitting in the comfort of your own home !!! You are a very nice dude! I thought New Zealand had much colder climates, -5 to -7C in the middle of the night, that would be a comfortable spring day out here in Québec!
It can be much cold at higher altitudes and down south. Ambient air temperature don’t get that cold where I live and camp can be very wet and windy though so rough combo.
Hi Abel! I take my hat off to you! A great exposure to the elements video! I tend to lean towards the trips that you do that I can relate too! The camp fires and so on are great! I've lived in Scandinavia for 15 years, from Australia, and currently here in Perth organising weekends away with a mountain bike, car camping! Thanks for your insight and inspiration. I love watching campers do this kind of content! Nothing beats freezing your rear end off only to be rewarded with your own cozy shelter at the end. Just be wary of super strong winds in the mountains, especially when you're exposed to the elements like that. But your kit seems to resemble a lot of what other campers do in the same situation, so good on you for that.

🎉🎉 the beauty of the Allak in the rain is that you can pack yourself, your stuff and the inner tent in your backpack inside the outer tent while dry and then get in the raingear and go outside and strap the fly and poles on top❤
You can do that with all multi-pitch tents mate.

Congratulations!🎉 This camp was amazing and took a lot of strength, endurance and courage from my point if view. Its not easy to do what you do and record it from different angles. @@AbelandVictoria for sure, would skip a lot of the traversing across st arnaud range! You can drop down into the Travers valley pretty easily too and walk out round Rotoiti back to St Arnaud.

This is great, we in the USA are going through a heatwave while your country is going through winter and freezing cold temperatures, i get winter time during the summer.
Great video, if you get a chance look back at the part when you are eating the pancakes. The back of your tent looks like a great scenery. For a second I thought wow what a Great Lake and mountains behind you, then realised it was the tent where you opened it up a bit and the light made it look blue. 😊
Surprised I haven't seen more NZ camping channels. The beauty of the NZ landscape is insane, one of those things where you just have to be there to see it - but it still makes for a good video.
