I can't upvote this comment enough, because it seems a lot of (even most?) metalheads are openminded and chill. Then there are the ones who seem to think Beethoven's Fifth Symphony must suck because it's catchy and outdated and the general public knows it and likes it.
I think everybody enjoys these videos because they bring us back to the first time we listened to these songs🎵. The closest you can get to rediscovering a song. I enjoyed it!
Normally I’m not huge on horns, but this was so smooth and novel in its orchestration, I was totally sold. There’s such a wide-range of flavors that I want to hear more and more!
Loved that! Do yourself a favor and listen to their song 'Sleeper'. That song brings you places you never knew existed. Remember that keyboard player from the first video that freaked out when Cory henry was playing? Well, turns out he studied at the school of wizards himself ;-)
Snarky Puppy’s Album “Sylva” is their most slept on content!! Specifically the songs The Curtain and The Clearing from the album. Trust me brotha! Love your channel!!
Oh my god yesss! And Flight+Atchafalaya is a bomb of a combo as well. Actually Atchafalaya has one of my favorite grooves of all time. The whole album is pure gold though... Would love to see more reactions on that!
Sylva is probably my favorite album from them. It's pure magic... A big band type group with an entire orchestra is such an awesome combo. I showed The Curtain to my mom and she started to cry. That piano solo is so emotional. Highly recommend for anyone not familiar with this yet!
This channel is so underappreciated. Your love and enthusiasm for music has been one of the most uplifting things I've found during this pandemic. Love your work!
I literally make it a point not to comment on stuff because nobody cares about my opinion, but I HAD to share. You had SO many of the same thoughts I had when first hearing this. The tone of the guitars, the intonation of the horns, the energy of everyone playing, the TIMING, just everything. It's absolutely beautiful. Really appreciated your comments and reaction to this.
I may be a bit late to the party, but if you haven't heard "Outlier" from this same album, you need to! Larnell Lewis goes crazy on the drums and the interaction between him and the tenor solo (Bob Reynolds) is awesome!
Just something else to put into perspective how crazy these guys are. Justin Stanton, the dude playing the trumpet solo, is actually their keyboardist 90% of the time, but he can just as easily bust out the trumpet and rip an amazing solo like this one. He even often plays both the trumpet and the keyboards in the same tune.
Yeah, well, wadda ya know. I'm a metalhead myself but used to play the trumpet in a big band. And after that the french horn. I can attest to this being truly amazing. Such a bunch of talented musicians.
That’s probably a different session. We Like It Here was recorded over 4 days with 2 performances each day. The best recordings from those 8 sessions made it onto the album and video. There is another version of Lingus on UA-cam from the same sessions where Cory Henry does another outstanding yet completely different solo.
I just love your positive aura. You're a musician and not shy of admitting when you're blown away by well done performances like this one. Tbh your Lingus reaction-vid was my first time too listening to them and I'm hooked up since then. I love a lot of different music styles (metal of course leading the way) but always found it difficult to get the right way into (Fusioin/Funk) Jazz. Snarky Puppy did so much to change that. Thanks to you and thanks to them.
Oooooo we get strings??? Like a kid getting candy. Hahah awesome, i just saw your other videos on snarky and Larnell about an hour ago and now you just released this video... awesome.. been listening to snarky for year.. great to see your reaction.. Keep ‘em coming. Cheers from Sweden
Great channel bro! You seem like a really good dude. What's nutty is Larnell had never practiced with them at this point. He only listened to the tracks for the 1st time on his flight to the show.
Lalah Hathaway with Snarky Puppy from Family Dinner Vol. 1. It will blow your mind. Snarly Puppy is a collective of musicians. When they tour it’s usually with 9 or 10 members. They don’t use playlists usually. Every member has to know every part of every piece because you never know what’s going to happen or who Michael will nod at to do a solo part. I’m a 75 year old dumb Irishman and have been totally addicted since around 2011. When they perform live they record the concert, send it out to be mastered and it’s available to buy and download the next day. Nothing is ever the same and they occasionally go off in tangents. I have an iPod that is full with Snarky Puppy live performances. Have fun!
This song is incredibly good, but my man, wait till you listen to Outlier. The Sax solo in that one is unbelievable (and one of the reasons is Larnell's performance)
Man, I really like your open mind-ness to this stuff! It is totally different from the Metal realm but you are just enjoying it and that´s a good thing because it´s just another form of the universal language called MUSIC. Snarky Puppy are just another level and for an "old" dude like me who grew up with Jazz and the Fusion thingie in the 70s this band a.o. like Dirty Loops give me faith and hope for the future of REAL music...
Not sure if it was mentioned but the drummer had no time to prep for the song really. I don't think he even heard the full thing once before the recording of it. Insane to watch the behind the scenes of this work.
I found this band right about the same time as you did, and they're blowing my head off, and i cant stop listening. I also just found Scary Pockets! Check them out too!
@BryanForce Drums I don't know if you allow yourself to watch different versions of the same song, but the 2016 North Sea Jazz Festival performance of Shofukan with Metropole Orkest is just spellbinding. Well worth a look - featuring EVEN MORE horns and strings! :)
What I also heard was that Michael League (bass/leader) couldn't get into the official ensembles in music school, so he formed his own ensemble, which eventually became Snarky Puppy. Somebody correct me if that's wrong or oversimplified.
I sometimes wonder if Robert "Sput" Seawright who is Snarky Puppy’s main drummer and and absolute monster drummer in his own right is getting a bit tired of his substitute Larnell getting all the attention online? All because he couldn’t get a visa to the Netherlands for this session! I recommend listening to «Binky» from the Ground Up album!
If you havent yet you really need to check out Outlier its fantastic I can barely pick out a favorite its all sooo damn good!! Outlier is off of the same dvd and its unbelievably fantastic man! The way Larnell supports the sax solo in outlier is really fuckin amazing man just like he supports the other players when its time to shine! I was so happy to find this band im not a dancer and this stuff gets me moving manI just love it! Like you said I would almost be ashamed if I was a fly on the wall! Because they are so damn good..for sure everyone in the room is a unicorn at their instrument ...no doubt man!
Hey man, I’d love to see your reaction to Ash Soans’ Zildjian live performance if it hasn’t already come across your path! While you’re on the Snarky Puppy buzz, check out their album Sylvia, one of my top favourites
Camera: Let's focus on the guys saying Ah ah ah instead of the guy currently being possessed by a god of music doing that divine drum solo. That seems like a good idea.
ua-cam.com/video/0cHioeMsFG8/v-deo.html Michael League's single - beautiful singing here for you. The great thing about Snarky Puppy is that not only are they ferociously clever at what they do and thus jaw-droppingly impressive but the tunes and arrangements are really musical and ....well, catchy I guess. For me it's like the difference between say Return To Forever (undeniably clever but meh) and The Crusaders (clever and catchy too). Personal opinions obviously
Please review something from their album Sylva where they work with the Metropol Orkest. It is breathtakingly beautiful. This is "the curtain". ua-cam.com/video/jLRw-Ahq22k/v-deo.html but honestly you need to listen to the entire album from start to finish. It is so good!
I enjoy your reactions to this shit because you appreciate shit that I might have not noticed, while I'd have pointed out how the flugelhorns were playing a classically French horn themed refrain. aaaaand scene. puff and a pass.
I know you are a metal guy, which is cool, but I think you are a true artist if you have an appreciation for all genres.
I can't upvote this comment enough, because it seems a lot of (even most?) metalheads are openminded and chill.
Then there are the ones who seem to think Beethoven's Fifth Symphony must suck because it's catchy and outdated and the general public knows it and likes it.
"What a freakishly talented room of people." is the best way I've heard Snarky Puppy described. :D
Exactly this!
Loved that! Do yourself a favor and listen to their song 'Sleeper'. That song brings you places you never knew existed. Remember that keyboard player from the first video that freaked out when Cory henry was playing? Well, turns out he studied at the school of wizards himself ;-)
Sleeper blows me away EVERY TIME I hear it.
Transcendent. Obviously Cory Henry gets the attention, deservedly, for the Lingus solo. But Shaun Martin is a damn genius.
Man, I love the wholesome “we get strings?!”
The appreciation for the music is great.
Snarky Puppy’s Album “Sylva” is their most slept on content!! Specifically the songs The Curtain and The Clearing from the album. Trust me brotha! Love your channel!!
agree! also no one ever reacts to them, but would love to see it!
Oh my god yesss!

The Curtain man, The Curtain.... chef's kiss.
This right here - it is downright my favorite of their albums!
So this is what happens when the best musicians get together and jam out….absolutely insane!
This channel is so underappreciated. Your love and enthusiasm for music has been one of the most uplifting things I've found during this pandemic. Love your work!
Nate Werth is the percussionist! He's trained all over the world in a variety of percussion instruments.
Bro, you're a great commentator. We should all have your honesty, appreciation and humility despite our differences.
Dude, you're REAL and humble and I bet you rock on your own right! I'm in, buddy!
I literally make it a point not to comment on stuff because nobody cares about my opinion, but I HAD to share. You had SO many of the same thoughts I had when first hearing this. Notice how Larnell has a different shirt on where he has soaked the other one with sweat 😂 he’s a beast! Keep the great vids coming bro !
That’s probably a different session. We Like It Here was recorded over 4 days with 2 performances each day. The best recordings from those 8 sessions made it onto the album and video. I might recommend lettuce, and ghost note to add to the funk fusion genre, different breed from snarky puppy but every bit as groovy
@@alexmurillo7434 Thank you. Will definitely listen into it!

That song was dope AF. Will be checking them out on Spotify. Thanks man
Glad you gave us a shoutout to Nate Werth, he looks like he's having the time of his life every time and I relate to that so hard
Shofukan was the number one requested over Outlier?!? That's wild
Love the videos man, keep it up!
The trumpet soloist is on keys in other songs in this performance, while we're on the freakishly talented thing.
Great channel bro! You seem like a really good dude. What's nutty is Larnell had never practiced with them at this point. He only listened to the tracks for the 1st time on his flight to the show.
Iirc he did practice with them, but only two songs, and only once each just before playing for the audience. The man is insane regardless.
That trumpet was amazing!
Outlier is a beauty as well.
Yeah, these cats totally caught me off guard as well.

Absolutely fabulous musicians!! Such an amazingly creative band, blending jazz, funk, rock, into perfect fusion. Incredible
Snarky puppy feat. Väsen - Shapons Vindaloo !!
You will never hear anything better!
Sick meter 23/8
I get chills when i hear this song
If you like Snarky Puppy, you would enjoy the first period of the japanese fusion band "Casiopea", with the legendary Akira Jimbo in drums.
Love the Snarky Puppy video, and good reaction video!
Sleeper, dude.
You're gonna flip over Shaun's key solo.
Hell yeah, love to see it, hope you keep them coming!
Not sure if it was mentioned but the drummer had no time to prep for the song really. I don't think he even heard the full thing once before the recording of it. Insane to watch the behind the scenes of this work.
Try their live set for Sylva with Metropole Orkest it's really phenomenal
Man I love your enthusiasm in reaction!
Yo! Should check out their grammy winning performance with Lalah Hathaway singing Something next!
I found this band right about the same time as you did, and they're blowing my head off, and i cant stop listening. I also just found Scary Pockets! Check them out too!

Man their songs outlier or sleeper would be an excellent next choice
Love your reactions!
Love the content bro. Keep em up.
I can’t wait for ‘Sleeper’...
What I also heard was that Michael League (bass/leader) couldn't get into the official ensembles in music school, so he formed his own ensemble, which eventually became Snarky Puppy. Somebody correct me if that's wrong or oversimplified.
Sounds cool dude! Yes... Fire burning- sean kingston drum cover by NEUNG
Your face when they introduced the strings! haha you should seriously check-out Binky. Earlier album with an interesting ending!
That’d be the ending that feels like George Clinton kicked the door in and blasted everyone in the room with a zap from the funk gun. I love Binky.
Fantastic! Agreed! FIRE BURNING- DRUM COVER BY NEUNG. thank you.
Finally you are here with your beautiful face and nice smile you I see your video because I love you
Check out "Something" by Snarky Puppy.
It's a solid vocal tune featuring Lalah Hathaway
Pleeeease react to Dirty Loops' "Next to You". Insanely good and unbelieveably impressive
Listen to Snarky Puppy - Ready Wednesday remastered version
Those guys are stupidly talented 😂
I sometimes wonder if Robert "Sput" Seawright who is Snarky Puppy’s main drummer and and absolute monster drummer in his own right is getting a bit tired of his substitute Larnell getting all the attention online? All because he couldn’t get a visa to the Netherlands for this session!
I recommend listening to «Binky» from the Ground Up album!

That percussionist is no "auxiliary".
Next should be Snarky featuring Jacob Collier... Don't you know..... Unreal!!! Just a clue... 2 drummers....
You have to react to Larnell Lewis Zildjian LIVE!!!!
You gotta see larnell lewis city lights drum solo
If you want to hear some snarky with vocals search youtube for this: "snarky puppy something with lalah hathaway"
Camera: Let's focus on the guys saying Ah ah ah instead of the guy currently being possessed by a god of music doing that divine drum solo. That seems like a good idea.
You might love jefe, chonks and grown folks 👍

Here is a shorter song from the Album Sylva - Gretel ua-cam.com/video/BoF7ZzMUrgA/v-deo.html
Are you familiar with the band Dirty Loops?
ua-cam.com/video/0cHioeMsFG8/v-deo.html Michael League's single - beautiful singing here for you.

Reaction to larnell lewis what about me in drumeo!!!
I am so sorry
I don't do that in more
I enjoy your reactions to this shit because you appreciate shit that I might have not noticed, while I'd have pointed out how the flugelhorns were playing a classically French horn themed refrain.
aaaaand scene.
puff and a pass.
Outlier is the top one if you are a drummer.
React to outlier
