- Soft and Chewy Red Velvet Cookies perfect for Valentine's Day. Rolled in powdered sugar for that crinkle cookie look, these red velvet cookies are fudgy, cakey, and have a hint of cocoa in the center.
RED VELVET CRINKLE COOKIES:
- 2 cups of all purpose flour
- 1/4 cup of unsweetend cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon of baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon of salt
- 4 tablespoons (1/2 stick) of unsalted butter (melted)
- 1/2 cup of brown sugar
- 1/2 cup of white granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tablespoon of milk
- 1 teaspoong of vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon of red gel food coloring
- 1/2 cup of powdered sugar
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Begin by preheating your oven to 350 degrees (F)
2. Then begin preparing your dry ingredients by whisking together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
3. Once smooth, in a seperate bowl combine your wet ingredients starting with melted butter, white sugar and brown sugar.
4. Mix well then add eggs, milk, vanilla extract and red gel food coloring. Wet ingredient batter should be smooth and glossy.
6. Carefully fold wet ingredient batter into the bowl of dry ingredients until the cookie dough is fully formed and slightly sticky.
7. Place the cookie dough in the fridge and cool for 30 minutes.
9. Once chilled, in a shallow bowl add powdered sugar
10. Scoop balls of the chilled dough and gently roll them in your palm. Then drop them into the powdered sugar and cover them generously.
11. On a parchment paper lined cookie sheet, add the covered cookie balls 1 inch apart and bake for 10 -12 minutes.
