  • Scarlett Johansson & Adam Driver go toe-to-toe in MARRIAGE STORY, a fiery divorce drama from writer/director Noah Baumbach, and... I think it's a really beautiful movie.

    It's out a little later than planned (when are they not though), but I hope this video provides a bit of comfort to you with all the scary stuff going on out there in the world right now. I'll be keeping busy with new videos in the meantime, so until I see you next; stay safe, stay inside & stay smart. Empathy first ❤️

      Thanks a lot for sharing video and analysis! I do agree is a LOVE STORY a great real love story, about compassion and "ternura"and cares, the best that remains when two people loved to the bones. A divorce is such a loss, everyone needs a mourning in own personal rythm to get through. Your view is full of resilience and empathy and hope. Great all cast especially Scarlet and Adam. Adam is gorgeus such a Man and Actor, a blessing watch him in action. Thank you!!!!

    AHHH this video is beautiful! Marriage Story is a movie version of the phrase "its better to have loved and lost, than to have never loved at all."

    Marriage Story was my favorite movie from 2019. From Madagascar 3 to this, Noah Baumbach is one of the industry's best writers.

    Noah Baumbach is one of my all-time favorite directors. No director has a filmography that has hit me on such a personal level. All his films. Especially being a NY Jew AND a child of divorce (Squid & Whale, Marriage Story). Frances Ha came out when I too was unsure about my artistic pursuits, living in NYC post-college. The arrested development feeling from Greenberg. Hell, even Kicking & Screaming had some connection to me while I was in college. Few directors (if any) have a filmography as a whole that speaks so closely to my personal self.
    Also, he introduced me to my crush, Greta Gerwig (who has as well gone on to a career I adore)

    I watched this movie during a period after recently ending a long-term relationship that devastated me. Things got pretty bad during the fall out between my girlfriend and I, and it hurt so bad because I still felt love for this person, while she didn't seem to respect the fact that there was deep love between us for a long-time, despite breaking up. I started to feel like the way I was feeling was unhealthy, and that she didn't owe me any respect as someone that I gave a piece of myself to, that I was acting entitled for her to treat me a certain way. And to a certain extent, that is true, the relationship ended so she didn't owe me anything. But it's the most painful thing in the world to go from having the person that has become a part of you, suddenly act like they couldn't care less if you died and they are choosing to go on and have that relationship with someone else. And it felt like Noah Baumbach reaching out to me and saying "it's okay to feel the way that you do" ... it felt like he was empathizing with what I was going through and acknowledging the way I felt with this movie. That love doesn't just disappear like that, and while my partner didn't feel that way, it was okay that I did. It brought me to tears honestly, because I saw so much of our relationship in Nicole and Charlie's break-up. The horrible things that they say to each other in the big argument scene felt like things we said to each other in our break up, and while they say some horrible things, I just felt like "I get it. You feel so hurt and betrayed by this person that you say horrible things that you'll regret later" ... I needed this film and it's so important to me.

    Great vid! But I disagree on the nobody is truly wrong. Scarlet Johansson's character was clearly in the wrong the entire time. Adam driver nervr did anything (aside from his affair) wrong.

    while it’s obvious that the movie is pro-love and a celebration of that marriage, i do think it criticizes the bureaucracy that comes with the legal side of marriage and divorce, as it’s basically a scam that only brings out toxicity. great video tho

      I really wanted to cover this but wasn't sure how to approach it as it's still considered a religious institution as much as it is a legal one, and I didn't want to step on any toes in that regard. But yes, I fully agree.

    Nicole is totally the villain of the movie and it's not debatable. It's a story how a good man is brought down by a woman who just wants more and more.

    • @LoverboyMedia

      I don't believe so. The movie demonstrated again and again to me how Charlie suppressed and how the marriage was not equal, but I do understand why people have this take. I just don't think it's what the movie was trying to communicate

  • @Curseco
    @Curseco 4 роки тому

    I hate how Charlie loses in the end, but I guess that's life. Life's not fair and your love can be exploited by a manipulative bitch. (Nicole)
