@@LoverboyMedia That's the only REAL Question that bothered me about the whole thing. What was in it for Walker (Helping out Solomon)? I remembered him saying that he (Solomon) used his (Walker's) disillusioned ravings as a Manifesto for Recruiting his (Solomon's) fanatics.. but he was obviously mad with him (Solomon) about it. Because he doesn't believe in it anymore...

@@DavidMyrmidon Walker is working for himself, not for Lane. Their goals are similar, but means are different - Lane had access to the Syndicate, so his method was dismantling the "old world order" brick by brick. Walker just wants to cause a single, massive shock to the world system - that's why he isn't nuking religious centres (as his manifesto would sugest, and how it was portrayed in the fake-out for Delbruuk), but glacier in Kashmir, which provides water for most of India, Pakistan and feeds into river systems in China.
Walker was dissapointed and annoyed at Lane for two reasons - first, Lane made Walker jump through a lot of hoops to frame Ethan, and second, as a "true believer", Lane's abandonement of his ideals was, to Walker, contemtable.

I need to preface this and say that me and my friends are a bunch of film nerds who love Mission Impossible, and this video is something we've been DYING to see exist. You brought up and nailed every single thing that we love and have discussed passionately amongst ourselves about the franchise for years. our love for how MI is filmmaking at its finest, our love for their storytelling, our love for the stunts, the characters, for Tom and Chris and Lorne and his bongos. ALL OF THESE I finally see reflected right here in a video essay that finally does MI justice. and ESPECIALLY, taking Ethan Hunt seriously, finally addressing him as a character and nailing his values and his core. God i could cry. I want to shove this in the face of every reviewer who's ever said that Ethan has no character.
I knew from the moment you mentioned the bongos that you were One Of Us. Thank you so much for putting into words and clear and spectacular visuals why us MI fans love this franchise so much. It's a franchise that deserves to be celebrated and your video is exactly that and more. Never has 36 minutes flew by so fast and I'm still riding that high the same way I did after watching Fallout for the first time. Absolutely amazing. Thank you again from the bottom of my heart for this catharsis of love for this franchise and this movie that I've wanted to see voiced for years.
PS- however my favorite MI is Rogue Nation, and my icon may be a hint as to why. ;)

My favorite is Ghost Protocol because it was the first one that relied on teamwork rather than the "Ethan Hunt show". Also, Ethan doesn't fire a single bullet, making it truer to the tv series.
BUT, I respect Rogue Nation as the best. It just comes together well without relying on the spectacle of stunts.

But what about Zack Snyder. Going from a director people hated to someone everyone loves, and the whole time he never said a bad word.
Or maybe Suicide Squad. Yeah the studio chopped it up but I do enjoy the film. One thing I always say, Jared Leto is the only Joker who could have a Harley Quinn. Yeah Heath's is great but he couldn't have a Harley.

Yesterday on twitter I said that this video was my most hyped piece of content of 2020. Suffice to say, you didn't disappoint. This has to be one my favourite videos on the internet. So full of passion, that classic Loverboy spunk, and swagger. Balls on a filmmaker and video essayist. Doing justice to my 2nd favourite film ever made.
The feelings which the entire third act gave me are simply unparalleled. Sweating, dripping, literally on the edge of my seat, dry mouth and eyes because I can't afford to swallow or blink or else I'll miss a second of Tom, Henry, Simon, Ving, Michelle, & Sean's fantastic acting, Rob Hardy's breathtaking cinematography, McQuarrie's brilliant direction and writing. The stakes, the stunts, the action, and the tension all climax for practically 30 minutes straight. Once the credits started rolling, I was shaking and tired. I have never been so exhausted watching a film that intensely, but I knew right then and there: this would be a film experience that I would never forget.
I don't care what anybody says: this is one of the greatest action films ever made.

This is a great example of expertise speaking for itself.
The quality of this production, matches the passion you seem to have for film, which matches a passion you have with this particular movie.
You could have 5M subscribers, or 5..and it does NOTHING to change this production’s quality,
We know some works seem better for who made them, and some seem worse for who made them. This is the nature of opinions and our deference to them, even the wrong ones, seems to attest that truth. But when we see a creation by someone who’s knowledge matches their passion matches their effort....it’s easy to sit back and take it all in.
We can so quickly detect authenticity and passion. We get to silence our noisy minds to shut up long enough to learn something in these moments.
If ever there was an argument to do what you love,
Loverboy may be a banker, or a chef or a cop in his “real life” , but in these minutes: he’s the world’s foremost Mission Impossible: Fallout scholar.
You must love something to truly know it.
So do what you love people, that’s where the magic lives.

When Ethan and Ilsa are in the courtyard and the sun is beating down and the highlights are very nearly blown and you feel uncomfortable from how bright it is and then they walk into the shade of the trees and your eyes can relax. It's like a metaphor for how spies are uncomfortable in the open and only comfortable working in the shadows.

This video has a 7% like rate as of 1/4/2021. HOW? No but seriously how does this only have a 7% like rate. This is such a good video essay that even after the first 6 minutes I would have liked it. I liked it so much I am gonna share it with a couple of other film nerds. I have never done that before. This video essay perfectly explains Mission Impossible and showed me things I have never seen about this video. Loverboy Media, sub here.
But seriously HOW IN THE FREAKING WORLD OF CIMATOGRAPHY DOES THIS ONLY HAVE A 7% LIKE RATE!!!!!

Since its release I've been looking and hoping for a proper video that took this approach to the film; analysing and detailing whilst constantly admiring it because it's undoubtedly one of the best films of the decade. I've been enjoying your stuff since those early Breaking Banter days and I think that in editing/writing terms, this is by far the best video you've put together - super insightful with a fantastic flow. Loved the interrogation of Ethan's character and discussions of McQuarrie's improvisational storytelling (which I totally had no idea about). Hope you can reach the audience you deserve!

Ghost Pro might have the worst villain in the series....but IDK there's just something fresh and kinetic and animated about it that makes it my favorite!
