Man, it's so refreshing to see video essays that focus on celebrating film as an art form. Countless channels nowadays prefer to focus on nitpicking, "fixing a film" to their desires, and demeaning what most perceive as "plot holes that destroy the film" while ignoring the overall power of what film holds for me and countless others. Massive props to you, Bailey for changing that!
I love how the death of the dog is not used as an “oh no the cute puppy died please be sad” like in most movies (horror movies in particular because they don’t know how to make you feel) but as something important, it wasn’t just a dog, it was a memory and a gift from his wife, the dog was someone important to John and her death was REALLY uncalled for, unnecessary blood and that is the point of her death If they left the dog alone, John Wick would probably let them keep his car since it was no meaning nor importance, but that dog was all John had left to remember his wife
Which is something the trailer didn’t convey, I remember seeing the first trailer for John Wick and thinking “what a dumb fucking plot line, neos dog dies so he goes full rampage?” But once you watch the movie, goddamn you want yosef dead
John Wick was such a refreshing surprise, I remember going into the theatre without even watching a trailer first and I went the next day again because it was the best action movie of 2014. The colours, framing, the music by Le Castle Vania, and of course wide continuous shots that let's you actually see what's happening. Best action trilogy for sure.
This is exactly why John Wick was always my favorite action film as well as the movies that followed because of its cinematography, action sequences and storyline fit to a tee and yeah, Keanu Reeves kills it (literally) as a lonesome cowboy of a sort. Which is why if any more comes out, I’m waiting eagerly 🤗🤗
I had never heard of John Wick until I saw the trailer for the 3rd movie...and there were dogs! So I watched the first two and loved them. You have managed to put into words exactly how I felt. Well done!
Hello Bailey. I am here from Hitop films, because I like positive people who love things I love and dont care about bad stuff in that movies so consider me your new subscriber :DD PS: god I love john wick movies. Cant wait for 4th one
The editing in this video is as good as everything what's good in John Wick movies. Phenomenal work, all of the points made here are spot on, it's just so gorgeous to enjoy your work, Bailey, god damn!
I was late to the whole John Wick thing. Kind of wrote it off as a modern over CGI'd (this was just presumption) action flick with Keanu Reeves, who while as nice and decent a man he seems in real life, hadn't been really all that relevant since the Matrix movies. Also funny meme about guy going on killing spree for his dead dog. My parents introduced me to the first two when I visited and they were shocked I hadn't seen them yet. After that I was hooked and went out of my way to see 3 at the last run theater in the city across town in the seedy part of the place. They've now become part of my regular rotation of action flicks that I can watch when I need something on in the background while also being extremely entertained when I do put my focus on them.
I was really surprised by the first John Wick. I loved it. Then I saw then I got locked up before I could see the second one in theaters. I didn't get out till the 3rd one came out in theaters and that was the first movie I went to the theatre and saw. Probably the best action move I've ever seen.
This movie was gonna be a normal, hyper-edited, shaky-cam riddled movie. But BECAUSE they couldn't afford cameras, they improvised with this! Atleast, that's what I heard.
Loved your vídeo. Love John Wick and yes, the subtle details make the great picture. Even the round of bullets are real. Not shooting the whole movie with 2 rounds of ammunition like we see so many times. And Keanu makes history again. Love his work and his dedication. He knows what he's doing so keep them comin', Keanu. Already subscribed since you are a wonderfull surprise. Thanks
Viggo Tarasov: Bailey Parkinson is a man of focus, commitment, sheer will... I once saw him watch and rewind three John Wick movies... on a VCR, on a a f*cking VCR. Who the f*ck does that?
The world is on fire and we are all at war with each other and we still have dogs. Just checked world still doesn’t make sense but I’m glad dogs fix it for you. Maybe I’m a cat person
Yet another excellent video (like there was ever a chance it wouldn't be). I unfortunately got to this one a bit late, I just haven't had the chance to watch it until now. This channel truly does deserve the highest amount of praise and so many more viewers, this is the type of quality content that everyone should aspire to achieve, such an inspiration.
Came here because of HiTop Films' shoutout and wow, great video man. You summed up all my love and and fascination with the first John Wick ( which I just watched it recently).
Imagine Mark Rylance as John Wick... Viggo [getting choked by Wick in the rain]: "What happened, John? We used to be civilised!" Wick: "Would it help?"
God damn it, I love you Bailey! Every video you make makes me want to be a better creator - all success that will inevitably come your way is wholly deserved. Bravo, sir.
Well said, I love John Wick as well, great video, the 3rd film is the best, u should definitely do a video on John Wick 3 talking about how they uped the game and everything from the first film to the 3rd. 🙂
Loving your description of this Angel from Heaven's path through Hollywood on a single story. We are so blessed to be alive on this extraordinary timeline Thank you l, from my heart!💎❤️🙏
The Dog thing, yup. I also like that there isn't actually ridiculous amounts of gore. I was surprised that John Wick films where given a 15 rating in the UK, over three movies he kill's more people than , Jason Voorhees, Michael Myers and Freddy Kruger across all their entire movie franchises.
I’ve read an interesting movie theory about Wick and Neo. John Wick is Neo, put back into the Matrix by the Architect as a retired hitman. His memories about the Matrix are wiped, but he still has his “I know Kung Fu” programming from old times. The Architect is keeping the Chosen One occupied in this version on his life, so he won’t wake up. Morpheus is there too. Imagine the Matrix 4 starts as John Wick and Neo remembers who he actually is.
5000 dollars to make one piece of poop? It would have cost them two bucks if they just bought novelty dog poop and no one would still know the difference. Cgi definitely has gotten really expensive and un rational to use in some scenes. I'm not against CGI, you use it in what makes logical sense for your movie. Animation, you use CGI on that because it makes sense. Scenes like this don't make sense and its a waste of money.
Things I like in this movies beside the stunts and story, it's how they shoot the fight scenes. Many movies just have "shaking and blurry" shot during fight scene.
Here is my point Bailey: I like the film, I enjoy it but I don't think it's really good. When I watch John Wick, I'm stunned by the cinematography and the jaw dropping action sequences but beyond that, it's cliche, the dialogues are too much and it's the kind of dialogue we would find in a B action movie of the 90's. The script could have been better. Keanue Reeves dialogue delivery is horrible, I love the actor but I didn't saw him play good in any movie except for The Matrix and Dangerous Liaisons (wich the dialogue delivery was bad but it was fitting with the character, a young stupid man, so it turned out good) and he was horrible even in Bram's Stoker Dracula wich I think it's one of the most underated films ever made (you should watch it, it's visually fuc*ing beautiful directed by Coppola). The flasback of his wife is a bit annoying and cringe at times, and sometimes it feels out of place like when he crashed his car and he takes his cellphone to watch a video. But what I dislike the most in this film is the songs. There are scenes where somthing important just happened or someone says something supposidly bad ass and the big bad ass music starts.. in any scenes in any movie that exists I wouldn't put songs like they choose after a bad ass dialogue of something like that. It just didn't fit at all and it was cringe and I laughed because it was bad. And Mrs. Perkins, the actress tried to be super cool and bad ass but she was practically the most annoying female character I've ever seen in a movie. I'm happy for you if you adored it but for me it was enjoyable, not forgettable at all don't get me wrong but I'm suprised how people like this film, if it was like 5,9/10 on IMDb I wouldn't be suprise but I guess the thing that makes this movie special, I just don't get it. A 7/10 for me. Great video, congratulations, it was really long to make and I'm happy for you that you completed it.
"Glorious soft serve swirl of CGI puppy poop" peak writing Bailey, love it

I love the style of this essays. It's really fresh yet it feels classic. As always, great work Bailey!
John wick has some of the best use of lighting in the history of action movies
Your damn right, Jet-jaguar
Let's thank Johnathan Sela for that?
I love how the death of the dog is not used as an “oh no the cute puppy died please be sad” like in most movies (horror movies in particular because they don’t know how to make you feel) but as something important, it wasn’t just a dog, it was a memory and a gift from his wife, the dog was someone important to John and her death was REALLY uncalled for, unnecessary blood and that is the point of her death

@@RileyHarrisVFX Reminds me of the line from Pitch Meeting: "Some people BETTER die"! LOL
Fantastic video! You really captured what makes the John Wick series so great and why I love it, too.
Same
The only thing more awe inspiring than the editing in this video is Bailey's dog.
Why do I feel like Bailey could fit right in with the assassins at the Continental any day of the week?

PS: god I love john wick movies. Cant wait for 4th one
Hitop: I’m about to drop the best and most passionate video on UA-cam.
Loverboy: Hold my beer.
The editing in this video is as good as everything what's good in John Wick movies. Phenomenal work, all of the points made here are spot on, it's just so gorgeous to enjoy your work, Bailey, god damn!
Man I love CGI dog shit. In all seriousness though this video is God Tier

John Wick should be in Mortal Kombat
Nobody:
Absolutely no one:
No one in the universe:
Bailey: that’s some majestic cgi dog poop
I haven't watched any of the John Wick movies, but you better believe I'm gonna change that after watching this. Great video!
The story fell off with John Wick 3 but the action was cranked up to a 10😩👏🏻
This movie was gonna be a normal, hyper-edited, shaky-cam riddled movie. But BECAUSE they couldn't afford cameras, they improvised with this! Atleast, that's what I heard.
So, you kicked the video off with examining a scene where daisy shits on the floor, i don't know, but that it is...believable?
I don't know what you're getting at sorry
Loved your vídeo. Love John Wick and yes, the subtle details make the great picture. Even the round of bullets are real. You know a video is gonna be good when it opens with an expose of CGI shit. 🔥
John Wick is an amazing series. Everyone did an incredible job. It all comes together perfectly
God damnit is nobody going to talk about the music and the songs in that movie??????????????????????????????
The world is on fire and we are all at war with each other and we still have dogs. Just checked world still doesn’t make sense but I’m glad dogs fix it for you. Maybe I’m a cat person

Never knew how much work went into the poop shot! Amazing vid man
Can't believe there was no mention of the boogeyman story. Every time I hear that story I get chills.

Loved the video as always mate. Such thoughtful content. A great look at such an exquisite franchise. BUT WHERE IS MY I LOVE LA LA LAND !!!
Imagine Mark Rylance as John Wick...
Viggo [getting choked by Wick in the rain]: "What happened, John? We used to be civilised!"
Wick: "Would it help?"
God damn it, I love you Bailey! Every video you make makes me want to be a better creator - all success that will inevitably come your way is wholly deserved. Bravo, sir.
Just found your channel!!! Love it. You need more subscribers
Only seen the 1st movie so far. Am I safe to watch this without spoilers for the other 2?
Mostly, I mention 2 & 3 but I don't think I discuss plot stuff
I just love John wick movies and I adore keanu always god bless
That was beautiful. Love it! I absolutely feel the same way. John Wick is elegant violence.
Well done it was nice that you were able to create something of a passion project for such a good action movie
Amen. Keanu is a legend
UA-cam gods please, this is one of the best channel PROMOTE IT
I pray every day 🙏
Imma go watch John Wick again, so thank you for that.
I will never forgive the makers of John wick if they kill john wick in the end of the franchise...
Every time Bailey releases a video, it becomes my new favorite of his library.
Haven’t seen any of the John wicks but I will check them out ASAP. I’m just glad to get another episode of the best series on UA-cam!
Well said, I love John Wick as well, great video, the 3rd film is the best, u should definitely do a video on John Wick 3 talking about how they uped the game and everything from the first film to the 3rd. 🙂
Glad to finally see a video that appreciates that glorious CGI dog poop! Haha for real though, great video as always Bailey
Bailey, you're breathtaking!
Awesome video but Molly 💕 those white eyebrows!
Thank you for this video this is exactly why I love this movie
Art.
I’m really curious what you thought of John Wick 3
Not quite the same as this video but I reviewed it here: ua-cam.com/video/77bwGn429Ro/v-deo.html
Hello your the best of the best
With all that being said, Willem Dafoe is a part of these movies which get instant 5 stars on letterboxd
This is overall a great video and also that "look at my land seal" shot is by far the prettiest thing I've ever seen.
Loving your description of this Angel from Heaven's path through Hollywood on a single story. We are so blessed to be alive on this extraordinary timeline Thank you l, from my heart!💎❤️🙏

I was watching Better Call Saul when I got the notification. Saul can wait.

$5k for CGI shit... They couldn't buy fake poop for the day lol?
5000 dollars to make one piece of poop? It would have cost them two bucks if they just bought novelty dog poop and no one would still know the difference. Not for nothing but the guy literally has: “Fortune favors the bold” tattooed on his back and they fucked with his dog. Need I say more?
I love 💕 him too...
John wick 1 was the best! And you’re the best too!
Things I like in this movies beside the stunts and story, it's how they shoot the fight scenes. Many movies just have "shaking and blurry" shot during fight scene.
John Wick Was still vulnerable and not a complete and invulnerable hitman he takes some big hits and times where he has to get up after a major hit
Helen wasn't just "everything" to him... She was the only thing that made him a human, not a killer.
What if Daisy wasn't killed, will John still go after the dudes who beat him up?
Iike if you think we're going to be seeing Keanu Reeves playing John Wick in his 60s
What your tapping in to is the truth. They gave a shit. They tried hard. For a movie nobody else would have
:( His puppy used it's last bit of life to crawl next to him to die....
Love the video, Bailey!
Comments = more views
I wish the turd in the live-action Pinoccio felt as special or deserved its own video essay as much.
Visually John Wick reminds me a lot of the Hitman games.
this video is absolute puppy poop. and i mean that in the best way possible LOL
As always, well done man!
UA-cam, have this beautiful video about dog poop and Baba Yaga be recommend.
Correction Keanu bought the script to the directors
A comment to chew up the algorithm
john wicked video
Really didnt expect that first couple of minutes.
Just a comment to help one of my favorite UA-camrs!
What are those golden things in the weapon stash?
Your video thumbnails are terrific
Less than 10 likes on this video shows how good it is
John Wick 5 please.
I like the background music Bailey was playing, its from that red club scene
Hi. My name is Bailey, and this is why I love this shot of Mr. Whippy's Miracle Coil of Butt Fondue.
Are you PewDiePie?
00:00 name of song?

Boo! 👎
The first minute of the video should be taught in every film school, ever.
Perfection
