- Getting punchy and dynamic tracks might be easier than you thought. Transient processing can be used to simplify your mixing process. Although I love compression it is often easier to create impact without using it!
I just made a plugin to make this effect much easier and better, check it out here: • Reviver Plugin Walkthr...

Update (May 2023) I just made my own plugin! Check it out here: ua-cam.com/video/-Xv4Ds4jTp4/v-deo.html
Thank you Michael, i will remember to check who's massaging me ;)
Great video btw 👍
But what if they are good at massage? (Btw: LYW Michael! Awesome content and very skilled ears)
Thank you for the great tutorials and for your non-American style. No pushing merch or sponsors, no nagging to like & subscribe, no constipated face on thumbnails, no overinflated ego. Just sharing knowledge, a rare occurence on UA-cam. Keep up the fantastic work!
"constipated face" 💀😭
I can’t stress how much mikes straightforward approach to videos makes his content so much no digestible than channels that do what you mentioned for every video
American? Hmm that's one way to say capitalistic. XD
@@salt4821it's true because Americans don't eat any fibre lol
i usually click 'not interested' on all the constipated faces. why would they think I'd be attracted to that?
Fun Fact: The reason the transients change how we perceive how close/far the sound is, is due to the inverse square law!
When up close to a sound source, loud transients will be more significantly louder than the sound's decay, and then this reverses as you get farther away. This is why the "close up" feeling is dramatized with headphones, and the "far away" feeling is dramatized with studio monitors.
This also happens with compression; soft vocals that are super compressed feel close and intimate because we get the breaths and detail that only would normally come from being very close to someone's voice, and loud super-compressed vocals feel far away since, yknow, they're yelling and it isn't hurting our eardrums
🤓
Fantastic insights. Thanks for sharing them with us all!
@@inthemix Haha thank you! I learn from the best!!
This is genius thanks so much
@@TheNeatwork oh nice thanks a lot
exactly! so when used too much it gets fast near ur face
which is in my observation the case and problem
in a high percentige of music these days
But being master of transients is a must, for sure!!!
transient + highs + width =Lord of the Distance😆
The best shit Fr, tired of these people starting their videos off with a hey hello and a dumb joke. Straight forward and I’m able to be less distracted bc you only speak of what the video says. Fr grateful for these vids
I also love geeking out about compressors and I'm not a fan of one-knob-wonder plugins either, but I have a soft spot for Transient shapers. FL's Transient Processor is the best one I found so far and it's a really quick and easy way to dial in more punch, while offering you more control than some other transient shapers on the market. In the free realm of things though, Transpire and BitterSweet are great.
👍👍👍👍
I wanna be like In The Mix when I grow up
Wish you luck!
Its been 2 years now since I first learned FL Studio. When I started out, I have no idea what I was doing. This channel is the only manual I turn to every time I want to learn something. Today I am just commenting to say a big thank you from the bottom of my heart to you bro. Words can't express how thankful I am for your help. At the moment I have mastered the art of equalization, compression, mixer routing, side chaining, multiband compression, automating, gain staging, side processing, sampling, recording, vocal processing and many many more interesting staff just to name a few. Just within this two years I've already learnt so much and I trust no other but #In The Mix. I may never be able to reward you for everything but I pray God will bless you and your whole family with never ending peace and happiness. I also hope you'll hit more than a million subs and get recognized for the role you played in promoting FL Studio.🙏🙏
This is good but it should not be your only one. That only makes you to ignore any other subtleties this producer have not shown or might not even be aware of.
My man, I've been watching your videos for years, I appreciate all your work 🙏
Thank you for all your tips Michael! We all little producers appreciate your work for us so much! ❤️
Too true
yes 👍
Yesss
Indeed!
I am so glad I found this channel. These videos are way too good and useful.
Most people will use the punchy part, but the soft/sweet part for shakers and many other loops works really good in Deep House and similar genres. Very nice video thank you 😊
Quick, simple, and straightforward. Awesome work as always Michael. Keep it up.
You succeed because you are able to explain things well without sounding pretentious. Thank you.
Thanks much Michael. Your instructional vids are always clear and succinct. I learn a lot from you.
It might be important to note that, for some uses, following the transient shaper with a clipper or very fast compressor (think limiter) can really help to bring the snap in without having your peak level raise by however many decibels. It works great to maintain the body of the sound but also introduce some extra energy to the onset of the sound, does wonders in kicks, snares, and other percussive drums.
Throwing a transient shaper without one could mess with bus processing down the road, or if you're accurately compensating for level changes, really drop the body of the sound
Fantastic idea. Thanks for sharing!
Great idea!
Been a while since I saw one of these, but this channel still remains one of the finest on this platform. Such a great teacher.
Thanks in the mix :) I appreciate ur support videos a lot. You are so calm and great with this work!
This vid single handedly saved a few of my tracks, two thumbs way up 👍👍. Especially excited to learn how to push sounds forward and back in the mix!
The main difference between transient processor and compressor is that transient processor affect every transient and not just the ones that hits the treshold.
Thank you so much Michael! This was exactly what I needed for my mixes and drums 😊
It's always good to learn something new, you're relaxing voice makes the tutorial even smoother for when you don't want to learn anymore, thanks for sharing good tips!
Thanks bro. Your engineering info is of help to many. Be blessed
Thank you Very much! Your efforts and tutorials are highly appreciated! Thanks for being an enormous source of inspiration!
Excellent video and wonderful presentation as always!
Hi Michael, great job again to get a little deeper glimpse into the universe of Audio engeneering. Thank you very much for your videos and the guidances you achieve with these. I am a great fan of your content and I always appreciate to learn from good content creators or engineers, to achieve my own degree of working with and in audio. Cheers Dude!
Your videos are always very helpful and informative. You're a big inspiration :)
Thank you mate,I need to watch more of ur stuff
I learn so much from the way you explain things, thank you so much!
Thanks I needed that in my situation!
Yes a great channel! Brilliantly presented, a great knowledge base!!!! Cheers!!! 👏👏👏👏👏
Good advice, thanks again Michael!
You made my mixing better time by time God bless you!!
Dope was just thinking of ways I could make my tracks sound more bouncy and this came into my feed. Thanks man!!
I never knew transient processor had so much details in drums ,and guitar samples, well this clicking problem was always a problem to me, now I think you are clearing all my doubts as always, 👍👍 , see you on next!!!
Thank you for all that you do! 💜🌙
Nice one! Really helped me
This is my free exercise music production, thanks for many exercise video you make 👍
Amazing, thank you so much. I am guilty of it, overlooking. I am trying to adapt it in my sessions as much as I can when needed. It is absolutely correct that it has one job, one and only job. We are the ones to know when to use them.
Wow, I never thought about how important transients is in my mix, great video!
Thank's for this!
We thank you so much for your work, helps allot
Great tips! Thanks!!
Thank you for the information
Thanks for your lesson👍🏼
Bless up my G....Love from KENYA
thanks for all staff man, you have my respect becose you are natural
Ooo veryy good
Great tip! Cheers
Thanks for the video.
Great tutorial Michael thank you! The difference in drums was night and day I couldn't believe it!
Makes me wanna go back & remaster all my tracks now🤣
Thank you, Sir. This was my issue.
Wow I did really overlook this for all these years. Thank you!
Lets go through 30 mixes and find those sweetspots!
Great video, really can't wait to mess around with this now. Had added it a couple of times but didnt really know what I was doing lol
Good video.
I like the sound of Elisa's Nvelope on any type of drum track. Probably my favorite transient designer.
Thats what I needed
The guitar tip was new to me…never thought about it!
For those using Live, I believe the drum buss transient shaper knob does work well for guitar and bass parts too.
I really appreciate your laid back personality, for me, it helps the learning experience when you don't put on some fake persona to increase viewership. Thanks for all of your hard work!
Good shit. Thank you
You’re the best !!!
Thank you brother
nice tip on the tambo. i always find them a bit too transient on a mix esp cuz theyre never in time
I almost feel guilty watching this channel... like I shouldn't have access to such amazing information for free or something.
Thank you so so much.
Very nice! 👍
Thank you so much!!
Michael going for that 1 million 🔥🔥🔥🔥
amazing!!
Never rushing again to use a compressor... Thanks brother 👏🏽
This is where I started learning music production and These videos are way too good and useful ❤️ btw, it'll be super cool if you can make a playlist of all of your videos in order. (If it make sense) Then beginners can follow the playlist like a course 😊 I appreciate all your work Michael! ❤️
Good video 👍. The "microdynamics" can make a huge difference especially on some old hardware that has sampled sounds that had the transients reduced due to the bit-depth challenges of the time. My Roland SPD-8 octopad punches up nicely with transient enhancement.
Increasing the transients also increases the volume, you can see it on the levels. Louder sounds better so it would be a lot easier to hear what is going on if you matched levels.
Extraordinary 👏
My go to henceforth 👌
Thanks! This trick made my sound better. I usually use so much distortion that it squeezes sound like it's toothpaste and transient processor fixed that problem.
Thx a lot !
Thanks you for the great job. Please I needed to understand more details about panning if you can one day help with a video on that .
Your video More Helpful Thanks 🙌❤️
Thank you 🙏
Hi 👋 Michael. Great video. Although I own 3rd party transient plug-ins, I honestly didn’t dive too much into it. But this will change after seeing your video. Thanks.
I wish I knew information like this earlier, I'm honestly fascinated how much of a difference a little bit of transient processing can do.
Your videos are brilliant, and you’re super great at explaining things. It’s a little different, but can you explain how the attack on a compressor is similar to the attack on an ADSR envelope ?
im ashamed to say but i learnt everything from you Mike,I owe u alot
Thanks ♥️💯. Your fl studio Best Teacher
Thank you
Amazing
Great video! My fav tranisent plugin is khs transient shaper which resently became free (it used to be payed). I like it because it has a built in hard clipper so you can add punch without it being too peaky and there is also a dip knob which lets you emphasize the transient without increasing it.
How did I not know about this one, I'll link it in the description too!
@@inthemix yeah do it! also all their main snapins are free now its just over 30 plugins plus the host plugin snapheap v2 that now has crazy modulators is free until mondday june 13th.
@@lawinter1949 just downloaded the 30 plugin package I don't need most of them but the visuals look irresistible 🤌🤌
What I love about kHs plugins is that they are super lightweight and smooth to run for what any given one does. I could fill a few mixer channels with kHs plugins and still have enough processing headroom to be comfortable.
Let's go!
I actually thought about looking for a free alternative for FL Studio's transient processor before. (It's not fully included in the Producer edition) So this video especially but every video is highly appreciated! Thank you! :D
not a lot of bedroom producer dont like watching thse type but plot twist its all sauce in here, you will find more gems 💎💎
Great video! I use transient master from waves...
Thanks. Transient design can a good tool to subtly automate as a finishing touch on certain tracks, after volume automation. To fine tune how the percussive energy is sitting on certain parts. A scalpel not a hammer....
thanks a lot
Finally Micheal come back with dope tutorial to give us a chances to win a Grammy by Fl Studio⚡️
Love this dude, noone can hate him
The guitar things makes sense for electrics, but if you're trying to get accoustic fattened up, I was trying maximus after a video from FL Studio Tips. which is basically a really different approach to multiband compression. but taking the low band and applying a different shape, gave it this in your face feeling with thicker but softer plucks
thats nice
Genius
Thanks u 🌹👌
Man I’ve seen this guy for years in turning 25 now and I see him like the same
Can you make a video on the difference between good samples and bad samples? This would be much appreciated! 🙂
Brilliant! Please do a review/demo on Jaycen Joshua's 'The God Partice' - I'm absolutely loving it as a final mix buss processor and as a tasty limiter, but would love your insight!
Hey bro, love your videos! I wanted to ask you about an issue I have with mastering some of my beats that have a lot of low end information and not so much on the higher registry, whenever I try mastering those darker beats I tend to get a lot of distortion on the kicks/808s peaks so I have to lower the limiting threshold which makes it so I can't reach any higher than sometimes -16LUFS? What would be the best way to go about this?
