Transient Processing - Everything You Need To Know

- Transient Processing is a very easy and powerful technique that is often overlooked. It's very simple but can be a better option than compression for many situations.
In this video I share a few ways I like to use it in mixes and sound design (mainly drum design) and also show the FL Studio Transient Processor in detail.

Number one music teacher on youtube
Check out the channel 'FIREWALK' that is a great channel on FL STUDIO.
Agree with this.
@@SAZIZMUSIC And "Produce Like A Pro", for general mixing and processing tips. He isn't using FL Studio, but information is useful for every DAW of course. Just translate to your own DAW.
@@dussie920 Of course the legend Warren Huart ❤
Reaper Mania is excellent for those who use Reaper, and Signals Music Studio is excellent for music theory in general.
When I only post once a week you can be sure I'm working on something huge behind the scenes, can't wait to share what I've been working on :)

In The Mix always love your videos and tutorials.. keep it up😎
@A3 Tech Tamil Try the FL Studio 20 basics playlist, it's a really great starting point. You can't learn "how to make beat or song and how to mix it" in one video, you need to put in the time. You are on the right channel here to learn it though.
Are you launching your own set of Plugins in association with Image-Line? If I've guessed right do I get a free set?
just subscribed and liked that video, i don't do that very often but i found your videos to be very usefull! Everything nicely explained, no useless stuff, straight to the point, good job!
@@cxz9517 You're a fucking idiot
If anyone is new to FL this guy is going to save you, days, months maybe even years if you just pay close attention.
My education comes from The Berklee College of Music. Three and a half years of audio production. You’re teaching me new stuff and I appreciate that a heck of a lot. Thanks!
Dude they would have covered transients in that course...
@@prototype8137 lol fr
@Bad Lamb Records honestly just get an internship at a small studio and you can learn way more than you ever would in school
@@prototype8137 He was sleeping in class
Bro I know this from a year ago but how would I go about getting an internship at a studio?
You're such a big help to us, all the learning people. Well explained, easily understood. Big thanks!
Yety agreed!
Never considered doing much transient processing until this video. Thanks for opening up a new world! About to grab my Transient processor in Neutron 2 and see where it takes me on my next mix :)
I know Im randomly asking but does someone know of a tool to log back into an Instagram account..?
I somehow lost the password. I love any assistance you can offer me.
@Zakai London instablaster ;)
@Conor Christopher thanks for your reply. I found the site through google and Im in the hacking process atm.
I see it takes a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Conor Christopher It worked and I actually got access to my account again. I am so happy!
Thanks so much you saved my account :D
@Zakai London happy to help xD
You should honestly have a masterclass. Thank you for doing these free-to-watch videos. You're the man!
I'm no master but I love helping. I don't want anyone to have to pay money just to understand this software :)
@@inthemix thats amazing of you and we thank you but maybe start a patreon or something if you haven’t already u deserve to b payed mayneee
@@inthemix you are way too modest, m8
This is the BEST UA-cam Channel for FL Studio Community. Period. Thanks so much! 👍😭😭
I second this!
dude your so fkn thorough! your literally an expert teacher, you have 100% the ability to transmute information on several different levels, and i can see the order in which you chose to deliver the information matters to you, great job man keep on keeping on, very clean cut and respectable dude you are.
That trick with the transient processor on the room mic to squash the transients in the reverb is really sick
I had no idea what transient processing was until now. I have been watching your videos and have learned a lot. Keep the info coming man.
Mate your videos have literally expanded my knowledge of production to a whole new level, thank you! Big ups
I really appreciate your work here in youtube, these tutorials are very helpful from beginner all the way to the professional level, something new and valuable for everyone. Thank you man you're huge inspiration for all of us !
I'm just in awe right now. This is going to be one of the highlights of my producing career right here. This should fix any issues I normally experience.
you are an exceptional person and talent Michael....we all admire you greatly.......
Transient processing just works like a magic for me. Before I wasn't satisfied with the drum samples (Specially the kick drum) but now I can enhance them a lot. Thanks for the tutorial.
Great tutorial, thanks. I can't believe how much better it made those toms sound
Best teacher on youtube for producing music. Thank you!
That little flow chart schematic is exactly what I need on everything. I wish more plugins had the inner gubbins of their tools laid out so logically like that.
“I don’t wanna take more of your time” Bro. You just explained transients to me and how to mess wit them. WHAT ELSE CAN I LEARN?!
you are important super to us, we appreciate and thank you man.. really informative
Huge respect for making these videos! Often when I got a problem with a mix I´m working on, I find the solution here.
I produce for like 5 years, but this is entirely new, and opens up so many possibilities
Thank you!
Great tutorial, I recently discovered transient processor and was wondering how to use it, but now I have no questions, thanks :)
bro never seen a guy who can explain that good
love
I had no idea that transient plugins existed nor their possibilities. Your videos are GOLD! THANK YOU 🙏🏼
Great timing video as I just bought this, the split level is no longer a mystery to me and I learned the input output levels, cool! Thanks Mike 😉
Yor tips are alway helpful and always come in handy when one gets stuck and hit a brikwall. Thanks Michael
Got some amazing results with those plugins but never really understood the details. Havent found the signal flow chart before xD. Very helpful, thank you!
Your series of videos are really a kind. Love it mate..
Nicely demonstrated and explained. Thank you
Thankyou. You never take up our time. We take yours. Your an amazing man. Thankyou.
another amazing video from the legend himself!! Thank you - I always learn so much from your stuff!!!
Only wanted to hear the beginning but you're such a great teacher that I ended up watching it all. Damn.
I just had a light bulb moment on maybe using a transient processor to remove reverb tails and i just knew mike would have a detailed video all about how to use it and more, your a true gem mate! 🎉
Great tut! Simple to the point yet educational. Bless the transient shapers!
The way you teach us about various things is just amazing. We never get bored and your energy helps us learn them quickly. Thanks a lot, Michael. I dont know what we would do without you 😚😚. Btw, would you make a tutorial on Newtone. If yes, I'll looking forward to it. Once again, Thanks
He has already done it
I'm not a FL Studio user, but still find this video and your channel very useful. Great teacher !
Dude, they do literally everything!
I've learned something new, and enjoyed doing so! Thank you for this video!
Hey man I can't tell you how much I appreciate this channel. I could tell you a story about me that would become an essay but in short I have been in the dumps for a long time and and because of your channel and finding an artist called Illenium whose music I relate to like no other I have found a hobby that I really enjoy, I am learning so much about music production because of you and hope to start releasing remixes/ my own songs.
Your this tutorial released all my confusion about FL's Transient Processor... Thanx a lot Micheal
Your videos are extremely helpful and intelligent. Thanks so much!
Excellent! I think this will help me improving my drum sound
Even after switching to Studio ONE 3 still watch your videos! 👍
3? its at 4 now. splice.com have a payment plan for it. 17 a month for full pro
Brilliant, been looking for a quick and easier way of doing this. Perfect for quick mixes too.
beautiful explanation, as clear as a glass of water. thanks ! now i want a transient shaper.
damn this is so helpful, i often use sounds which needs this and i fastly get tired of compressing, this is so simple and fast, i love it.
Finally I know what this plugin is for! ThankYou Michael bro. Love from India
Wow! I didn’t even know I had this plug in! I usually try to achieve this on my drums and percussion by going straight to the channel racks volume envelope, cutting back the REL, SUS, ATT, DEC and adjust the HOLD to tighten and accent the transient. Or... if I really wanna play with the kick, I’ll normalize it then play with the in and out to get creative.
Thanks Bro. You’re a god send!
I'm a bit late finding this video, but thanks a ton! I ended up getting bittersweet and I'm already getting results. Super helpful video
I thank you alot, for the help that u give out on all producers- who wants try his own Music.Well explained-
You've done a really good job breaking the transient processor down. I feel like after watching this video, I have the foundations of what I need to start effectively using this plugin. Thanks dude! (BTW: That's a sick example track!)
Just beautiful!
what an amazing tool. looking forward to implementing more of these as I learn
Very clear description. I trust in your reviews and comments.
Thanks!
You guys read my mind. I was literally just looking into this. I had a very basic understanding but this is helpful.
damn dude, your tutorials are sick! pure quality. thank you. highly appreciated
I love you, Michael. You're a great teacher. I mean it.
I think I never saw a 2000/7 like/dislike ratio before on UA-cam ... but it's totally deserved, and when i see the quality of your videos, i get it easily ! Please never stop, i've learned so much from you Michael !!
One of the best tutorial channel out there 🙂👍
Your tutorials are the best👌

Incredibly helpful. Thanks a bunch.
Great content well explained as usual! Thanks!
100% legend in music teaching and music making 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
I've gone down that compression rabbit hole to shape transients so often. Didn't even know this was a thing.
I feel like this will save me so much time in the future.
Thanks for your time and effort Michael. I'm a 'few' tutorials behind but progress is made ;-) I'm curious what your working on but have fun with it. We'll hear / see the results soon I hope.
Ed
Had a very general idea... and now straight to the GOD mode. Thanks mate!
Finally, i understand how to use it...thanks
Not new to music production, but coming from FL 9, FL 20 is so different, i find your tut's helpful and well explained to learn FL 20.
Thank you so much for this amazing video! 💙
You have some good videos. Thanks for the help.
This was a HUGE tip!!!!! Thank you!
I use FL Studio since 2008 and every time I watch your videos, I feel like I don't know anything. I had this plug-in all the time and never used it. Thank you so much!

Wow finally understood transient processing! Thank you so much! Really!
Thanks dude soooooo much. I was having trouble with my snare I did a lot of EQ but it didn't help. But just a spin of these two knobes and now my snare is beautiful❤️❤️❤️
Fantastic. Im so happy to hear that. Transient processing really is underrated!
Really like these In the Mix tutorials, third one I've checked out....appreciate the in depth focus on the split signal/HPF//LPF-related processing @9:07 as I just recently started working with both Transgressor 2(Boz Digital)and Multi Transient(Audio Assault)and have been looking for info about this kind of stuff to apply to them....
Great tutorial. thanks man
keep up the good work!! we need you!!!
I have always been, and always will be in love with your channel.
thank you some much bro !!!!that was one of the best advice
From south africa, master teacher. You are powerful
Thank you very much for your videos they're really helpful and you're very talented I like your channel
This is really help me 🔥 thanks
I am a simple man. when I see your vids. i clicked.. free high quality stuff!!!
In your "Make your Own Kick Drum" tutorial, you passingly mentioned that Transient Processing could be a good way to help shape the kick. Now I know exactly what you meant, and I can see very much how it could help accentuate certain aspects of the drum.
Best music production tutorials on youtube.
Thanks! it really helps, love from China
Another brilliant explanation! Idk what to say bro🙏
you are a godsend dude, thanks so much!
