2:00 "He's a little rangey for a gunshot". Question here; in a real combat scenario, would you have to be concerned with where the missed rounds would go if you were to fire. What I mean is, if you were in a position to fire the gun, but perhaps you expected only 60% of all rounds fired to hit the target, would you have to consider where those 40% of fired rounds went (and therefore landed)? I suppose in a life or death encounter with the enemy, that might not be a concern, but it still interests me. Just imagining some woman in the next country over taking her dog for a walk and suddenly the ground around her gets peppered with stray rounds.
Growling Sidewinder will destroy this dude. And not because he is better at BFM, than this dude. Because it's a game. There is nothing he will be able to teach him, it's actually the opposite. Although, I don't think you should learn from GS too
GS flew against a Rafale pilot before and he splashed that guy twice, maybe more. He stayed humble and assured us all that this would never happen in real life, but in DCS, he knows what he's doing.
@@quasimondo1933 I know about that. It's just there are alot of much better pilots and entire dedicated to BFM community, where there is no "F-16 is the best dogfighter ever" and "just take it to the deck" bs. If he would show up to a dogfighting server he would be destroyed. Not by all, of course.

The fact an actual pilot spends time on this is a credit to the simulation. Great stuff if we can experience 10% of what these guys did for real it’s a win. I took a real flight at the controls never done before and the instructor said “Wow you under the basics so well, your positioning where you should be looking” all I could think of was I played a lot of old school flight sims in the 90s and Elite in the 80s 😂 he was happy for me to fly most of the 45 minutes along the coast and back before taking back control to land. Brilliant experience from a good few years back. Went in my first Helicopter last year ridding shotgun over my city and up a Loch for about an hour and it was breathtaking. Would love to do a gyrocopter or maybe a glider.

Real question: if youre at supersonic speeds in a jet, what does it actually sound like in the cockpit to fire the jet's weaponry? Do you hear it at all over the engines, and if so, does it kind of sound weird? Like, is there a doppler effect to it or something, or does it just sound normal in the cockpit, etc?

I ejected in the merge last week. I found out that DCS changed my control bindings and mapped EJECT to my radar-on switch for some reason. I didn't have time to figure out what the name of that key binding was, so I just bound my radar switch to the ejection handle. I need time away from work to figure out the name of the radar binding in that 200 mile long list of binds. Until then, I just pull the ejection handle to toggle radar on and off. If I need to eject I just flip the radar switch.
@@reboundrides8132 I'm used to this kind of thing. My very first car out of high school had electrical problems. I had to hit the sunroof button to get the left turn signal on. Go into the adjust flight controls for the aircraft you are flying, click on the column for the stick or throttle (which ever has the mapped button) and push the button or switch that is ejecting you and it will take you right to the mapping. Are there usually server or weapon restrictions to make these dogfights happen? Most DCS matchups i see theyll start with a flyby or in the turn already, is this bc BVR combat wouldnt be as fun or balanced? Or is this how things actually go if you dont have a dedicated long range aircraft/setup?
The reason for an initial merge in 1v1 BFM is just to have a neutral start in a guns only or short range missile fight. IRL, you would go from long range missiles to medium/short range then to guns and it’s by any means necessary.
I used to work for L3 Communications Link Simulation and Training. I helped repair and maintain the flight simulators for the F-14 and the F/A-18 at NAS Oceana in Virginia Beach. I'm sure you trained on similar systems in your F-16 days. I remember how many computers it took to run one trainer, and we had 8 dodecs that were linked together, allowing for up to 8 pilots to train simultaneously in the same world space. And in theory, we could add the 2 50ft dome trainers into the program and accommodate 2 more pilots. I suppose it's more of a software experience than anything, but how does the realism compare between the old trainers and your home build, in terms of actual controls? The graphics are already leaps and bounds above what we were using 20 years ago in the real simulators.
I live on the Suffolk/Norfolk boarder in the UK and we regularly get F35's above our heads playing cat and mouse. Training I guess. And the noise! Great stuff.

Ya gotta get that VR setup my man, would be sick to see your headmovements:)
He has it on the way or he recently got it and is dialing it in now I believe this video may be older since its from his Patreon. nonetheless. Awesome video!!!
Much respect , slear sky!
You should really do a DCS dogfight , fox2 or guns only with Growling Sidewinder!
That would be sick
@@SAMMIEJONESJUNIOR I can bet already bet who's gonna take more rounds heheheee
@24jazza I think we are on the same page, but I guess it would depend on the aircraft choices, but it would be awesome
@@SAMMIEJONESJUNIOR comes down to pilot skill, so same aircraft, same load
@24jazza if we go that route, then it is definitely going to be one-sided
With no experience as a fighter pilot, and having just found this channel two minutes ago, I can confirm that this guy is a legit fighter pilot.
I can’t even imagine how strong one’s neck would have to be to withstand that amount of G Forces. Super cool video. I don’t know anything about fighter pilots. But at certain points you’d move your head in a way I’ve never seen, but it was fluid. I can only deduce it’s because of your training and you’ve done it so many times over a long period of time. It’s instinct regardless of real life or a simulation.

You know my favourite thing about this Is when you pull up at the start, your moving your head up as you would do normally. It makes me feel so much better when I'm sim racing and leaning and bracing for the breaking in my seat lmao
This is way too entertaining and informative can’t get enough.
You can see that it's the pilot, he's constantly shaking his head to compensate for the G-forces! :D
The gun on the F-16 has an effective range of ~10,000 ft. so outside of that the rounds would slow down and drop.
As an F-16 avionics technician...this is awesome to see!!
Fly with Growling Sidewinder!
I'd love to hear what you have to say about his flying and what you might be able to teach him.
Growling Sidewinder will destroy this dude. And not because he is better at BFM, than this dude. Because it's a game. There is nothing he will be able to teach him, it's actually the opposite. Although, I don't think you should learn from GS too
Or what GS can teach Neo
GS flew against a Rafale pilot before and he splashed that guy twice, maybe more. He stayed humble and assured us all that this would never happen in real life, but in DCS, he knows what he's doing.
@@quasimondo1933 I know about that. It's just there are alot of much better pilots and entire dedicated to BFM community, where there is no "F-16 is the best dogfighter ever" and "just take it to the deck" bs. If he would show up to a dogfighting server he would be destroyed. Not by all, of course.
@@quasimondo1933 i've seen that.
Target fixation mate!
Real cool watch tho. Been watching DCS dogfights for a while, even though the closes to aviation I have been is civil... in the back of the plane :)
Appreciate the narration and cool to see your body respond automatically. Subbed.
Being a PC game I'm surprised you can't change the G limit with a mod or a tweak. Awesome video!
Man this was so effing entertaining to watch with you are the controls!!!! Thanks!!!!!

horrible amateur DCS pilot dogfighting AI?

Definitely credit to DCS, the game is very well done 👍
I wish ED would incorporate a pilot builder of sorts so that you could better resist G effects with flight hours and experience.
ED?

"Didn't see a chute on that one. Brutal." LOL that was awesome!!
Not only is this video very entertaining its also a great insight into the movements of a real pilot vs a pc gamer pilot like myself, its very interesting. Also shows how great dcs AI is.
If you hadn't been running out of fuel you might have gotten a 3rd kill. It's hard to fight multiple enemies. Well done.
bro even expecting G force in a simulator (yeah I know theres a head tracker but he didnt do that head shake for vision obviusly)
I would love to see a round robin competition, tournament with you, Mover, and other former military pilots as well as some in the DCS community that seemingly are in the top tier or high proficiency in DCS such as Growling Sidewinder, and a few more....Would love to see that...

Thank you! Definitely a Xmas gift!
Hahahaha thank you for this
@@reboundrides8132 I'm used to this kind of thing. My very first car out of high school had electrical problems. I had to hit the sunroof button to get the left turn signal on. I just had to hope that I never had to turn left on a rainy day.
In a way this Viper is an upgrade. If I had to start an aircraft manufacturing company to rival Boeing or Lockheed, I'll name it Jankey-Dynamics.
Go into the adjust flight controls for the aircraft you are flying, click on the column for the stick or throttle (which ever has the mapped button) and push the button or switch that is ejecting you and it will take you right to the mapping. Right click and clear combo. Then bind it to the command you want.

Get this guy a VR setup
I did a flight simulator that you had to get inside a motion capsule where the controls & screens show the displays👍 I could take off & land on the ground but couldnt land on a aircraft carrier Flight Deck😂 The instructor said I did better then alot of actual pilots. Dogfighting was a blast👍
Where at? Would love to try
@@bunnypeople it was at the MALL OF AMERICA but this was 30 yrs ago. It cost $20 for a 15 minute simulation. They changed it after 9/11 because they found terrorists just wanting to learn how to take off. They were the same simulators real pilots used to train with
First watched this 5 months ago, and found it again. Love these videos!
Mobetta's just dogfights server starts you at a 10 mile merge.
Different slots for guns, or heaters, or bvr
@@rmack9226 Gotcha, thanks.
The reason for an initial merge in 1v1 BFM is just to have a neutral start in a guns only or short range missile fight. IRL, you would go from long range missiles to medium/short range then to guns and it’s by any means necessary.
Man this is really interesting to watch, its so good especially if the person in the video is an actual pilot
As interesting and impressive as this is it scares me that there's kids out there who could do this better on a dance mat. 😂
This gets my blood going. Man that is amazing flying.

Something so crazy to me about a dog fight like how much more convoluted, scientific, and expensive can you make two guys trying to kill each other?
His face constantly looks like it's being weighed down by 7 Gs, and I mean that in the most complimentary badass way possible.
“Didn’t see a chute, brutal.” 💀 shit got me
I love watching someone so skilled at what they do
I live on the Suffolk/Norfolk boarder in the UK and we regularly get F35's above our heads playing cat and mouse. Training I guess. And the noise! Great stuff.
