A woman’s instinct is like no other. If something doesn’t feel right, ALWAYS go with your gut. Never worry about being seen as rude, especially if something doesn’t seem okay. Confidence is also a deterrent to predators/creeps.

My sister lives in a gated community and she was buzzed that she had an Amazon package. she buzzed him into the gate and she went outside and suddenly there were three men and one had a gun - they forced her back into her house, told her to lay down on the floor and asked if she had any money - she told them where it was they took it and then left ( they tied her in zip ties). So a reminder to always be on guard!

Thanks for bringing awareness to us. I also notice the cameras miss a lot. A few year ago I lived in an extremely rural area and I was harassed by someone for months. He would come on average three times a week between 1-4 am. I didn't know who it was until I could afford to get cameras and then I figured out it was a neighbor!! My little dog who likes everyone wanted to bite him when he came over one day(before I figured out it was him). Little dog knew he was the bad guy!! Trust your gut and your dog!!! Glad you are safe.

My go to when I don't want to stop for someone that's trying to get my attention is to smile, shake my head and keep walking. This makes it so you can communicate immediately and not feel like you're cutting them off, you don't come off as rude bc you're smiling and most importantly you do not stop. I never wait for them to stop talking, I keep moving. This was a great video, thanks! Ps. you and your husband do look famous, lol 😄

I’m glad you’re super aware of your surroundings. The “driveway guy” was definitely up to no good. It almost seems like something scared him off. Maybe he was after the packages.
When people talk to me or ask directions I ignore them or answer no and get in the car or the store fast. Taking too much time to say sorry and all that could give them time to make their move. I’ve been hyper conscious of my surroundings since I was a teenager. It has saved my life more than once. I could tell you some stories, but it would be way too much to type.

Jenifer, oh my goodness, I’m glad you are ok. You, clearly, have good intuition. The fact that you got the thought about waiting to open your door in case someone has watched UPS drivers drop off packages at your home…that is such good thinking. It sounds as if the man in your driveway might be a fan. Hopefully he won’t be back, but it’s good that you always are aware of your surroundings. It is not silly or paranoid, and you are smart to listen to your own intuition and not to those who may tease you about it. Also, thank you for sharing about the doorbell camera not working very well. Would love to know what you recommend as a good one. You look so pretty in this video, like always. I loved loved loved the stories you shared about you and your husband in Las Vegas - and that video you took of the two ladies with your hubby…so adorable! Merry Christmas and hugs ~ Janis

@@JeniferJenkinsBeauty They are absolutely counting on the fact that women often will override their gut instincts when all the red lights are flashing because they don’t want to appear”rude”. It’s literally a game to predators.

  • @CassandraAZ
    @CassandraAZ 8 місяців тому +1

Thank you for this, Jenifer. Every one of these reminders about our safety is needed and timely.
You said a couple times the most important thing any of us can do - be aware of your surroundings, no matter if you're in your hometown or travelling. Be aware especially when you think you're in a hurry. Predators look for those with their guard down. Sadly, this is why most kidnappings occur close to home.
In a parking lot, always take a moment before getting out of your car to check your surroundings. Look for anyone or anything that seems out of place. Keep your doors locked until you're ready to get out of your car, and make sure they're locked when you get back in. A lot of keyless entry cars today need to be manually locked when you're inside.
From your car to wherever you're walking, walk with purpose and confidence. Remain aware, but exude confidence. Predators tend to think those who appear fearful are unprepared.
If you are approached and feel uneasy, what do you have to help defend yourself? Pepper spray is great. Some are comfortable with a firearm. A simple pen can be used like a dagger. Regardless, please have something with you and know how to use it.
Be mentally prepared for the 'what if.' Practice whether you think walking away, running away, or defending yourself is your best option, and the best choice varies based on your situation. If you have to defend yourself with whatever is in your purse or home, know how to grab it and be prepared to quickly use it. If the 'what if' happens, we quickly reduce the danger by staying calm and knowing how we'll react.
Get physically in shape. I'm not talking about a buffed-out body builder. Do enough cardio that if you have to run for more than 30 seconds, you can. Do strength training to get yourself tone. This is about making yourself look like a more difficult target than what predators want. Predators want a quick 'grab and go.' Every second you can resist and fight them off makes you less of a target and buys you time for any nearby help to arrive.
Lastly, as other commenters have said, trust your instincts. They serve us very well.

I moved to a new area and while our house is being built I rent and because my husband still works in a different state than we now live I’m alone on about 5 plus acres 4 days a week.
I was nice to a landscaper once and he took it differently, probably because he had too much alcohol that I can smell on his breath… he was very inappropriate and kept harassing me… while I have a large German Shepherd… I felt he intimidated me so I had to go out and buy a gun so I can feel ok letting my Dog out in the middle of the night without being terrified.
I hate that I had to go through all of that but no way was I going to be alone in these woods with no real neighbors and husband without any protection.

Jenifer, I am so glad you shared this. Great reminder. I have learned to always listen to my gut feeling. It’s imperative as women to trust our instincts. We are taught to be nice and not to offend especially here in the south where I am from. I have some stories for sure. I have had stalkers. A stranger and an ex. Also guys who did not handle rejection. I have always tried to be hyper vigilant in other situations. It’s using intuition and wisdom that can be the difference between life and death. Btw I understand the Retin-A irritation. I can’t see yours in the video though. You look so lovely as always. My lips are swollen and slightly bruised from recent filler after Thanksgiving. Wow that is creepy. Glad you are ok. But definitely watch your surroundings. Thanks for sharing Jennifer. I did have a stalker at my job 20 years ago. It was very scary and it took awhile for him to give up. He use to leave weird letters on my keyboard at work. It was shocking. My employer hired security for me to escort me home and monitor my home for a few weeks. He was eventually terminated because he didn’t stop after being warned . Also, a year later he sent a dozen roses to me at work. I was shocked and advised my employer and advised the floral shop to redirect the flowers. That was the end of it .

I stayed near a couple also leaving the mall, then jumped in my car and immediately locked the door (thanks dad, for always reminding me to do that). You brought up some great points in your story. I’ve heard other stories about women being followed in store at 6 am and as they went out to their car a van driving up to them in a Walmart parking and then the van door slides open……. the lady was carrying a gun and flashed it to let them know she was in control. Then they drove off. I’m very cautious 24/7 out by myself. Someone is always looking. Especially if you are attractive and put together.

One evening I heard the doorbell and it was dusky dark so I waited and it was a family member who is a state detective. We had a good laugh and I told him my routine and he said that it was a good idea because you never know…..I’ve also read the book, The Gift of Fear that someone was recommending to you on your page and I recommend it as well. Years ago, I was walking to a hospital with my kids and as I was passing by some alcohol store, the car drove to the parking lot of the store. It was 2 meters away from me, and there were 3 men in the car all looking at me with their windows down. I got scared, because there were no people on the street, and because they looked at us. They didn’t say anything, but I started running. I couldn’t run fast, since I held my toddler’s hand in one hand and I was holding stroller with the other hand. The stroller was going left and right on the road, because it was hard to get it to go straight when holding with one hand. They probably were laughing at me. I thought to myself, that I’d rather embarrass myself for no reason than taking a chance for something bad to happen.

This went on for 6 months until I happened to notice when I went to control panel. I took computer in and had then disable cameras. # creepy I learned to turn off my location on my phone.

I had something strange happen to me in the Walmart parking lot at night. I was loading my car up and a guy in a beat up old truck stops and asks me for money for gas. He said that he broke his foot and needed money to get to the hospital. I told him no and he drives off. It was the strangest thing. It seems that if he really needed gas, you'd go to the gas station to bum money rather than driving around looking for money? I'll never go out by myself at night now. No way.

Jenifer, I was at the gym working out when I listened to this so I was unable to comment. When I was in high school, my parents still received the newspaper daily.....I kept a part of the paper my mom had given me in my closet for years. She always wanted me to be aware of my surroundings. In the article she gave me, a man me a girl in the mall, told her he would like he to be a model for him and to come out to his car so he could give her his card. Of course he was parked right beside her, he kidnapped her, super glued her eyes shut and electrocuted her in a bathtub in a hotel. She was one of the few to escape this serial killer. Twenty years later, it still haunts me. I travel a lot! The worst is being in an elevator alone with someone. Good for you for being aware and teaching your daughter the same. I love your videos! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and stories with all of us!

It's so frustrating when that happens with the doorbell. My Ring doorbell does that so I have a different camera for the front and back of my house that actually records continuously. I got it from Amazon for under $30 and it uses an SD card to record. I have it in my window inside pointing outside. If you want continuous recording that is your best bet. I’m so sorry you just had that happen. You are right to think that is creepy because it IS! Like you said, it’s really sad that women have to be so cautious and afraid. There are a lot of good men out there, but unfortunately a lot of really bad ones, as well. I don’t trust anyone ever and I hate that I’m like that because I am naturally a very trusting, naive person. But I have had so many people do so many things, that I just don’t trust. I can’t think of any major one situation, but I have had many little weird things happen where men were walking way too close to me, especially at work or a store, etc. I am a very fast walker and I know most men do not naturally walk that fast, and I have had COUNTLESS men (not women, only men) walk behind me going faster and faster to catch up to me and I can hear their footsteps and feel them trying to catch up. I’m just a b**** the older I get and I dont mess around, so I turn around and give the a “dont’ f****ng come closer” look. It’s funny, I think it works. They think they can intimidate certain women, but I don’t care and I will GLARE at them and give them the dirtiest looks. It’s funny. But yeah, I’m sure EVERY woman has had some situation where they were uncomfortable with some creep. Very sad but I’m glad you are ok !😊

Jennifer, if you have not seen the interview Kimberly (Pretty over 50) entitled" Staying safe over 50", it is a very good informed one. She interviews a female bodyguard, Amber Haddock), who has excellent pointers on what women should look out for and what to do in certain case scenarios. It really makes you want to be on your toes at all times. There is no reason for a complete stranger to feel he has the right to sit in your driveway!
Also, I can see why people thought you and your husband looked like celebrities. Very good-looking couple! I am 67 now, about the same age as Lisa Hartman Black (Clint's wife). I used to get stopped a lot by complete strangers telling me I looked just like her. One lady asked me for my autograph...lol. Hopefully that was only the person who dropped off the packages. Maybe that’s why he was just sitting there, sometimes they do that. Since there are so many deliveries this time of year, they are delivering things in their own vehicles as well. That has happened here a few times and it ended up being just that. Better save than sorry though, so I understand. ❤️

    • @JeniferJenkinsBeauty
      @JeniferJenkinsBeauty  8 місяців тому

I was hoping the same thing, but my camera did record the driver who dropped off the packages and there was no car in my driveway at that time. Just an empty space where my husband typically parks. Also, you could clearly see him walk down my driveway after delivering the packages. The creepiest part to me though is how far up this person was in my driveway. My driveway goes up at an incline and then levels off at the top and curves to the left and right. He pulled all the way in and his car was even curved in as if he lived here, with his bumper a couple feet from my bushes. And then to linger in my driveway for so long after seeing me is just bizarre. However, I HAVE seen delieveries to my house from regular cars, but they always park at the bottom of my driveway and walk up. There should be rules to deliveries in my opinion. 😄❤😘

I was in a store and this guy came up to me like he wanted to say something but didn’t. I instantly got a creepy vibe. I left the isle and went to the next. Then he followed me. So I left that one and he went to the next soon I was walking super fast to get to the checkout and he started walking fast behind me. After I checked out I pretty much sprinted to my car. Luckily my husband was in the car waiting. I would’ve asked someone to walk with had he not been there. I still can’t figure out what he thought he could do to me inside a store full of people but I didn’t want to stick around to find out. I have had other encounters of men following me but they weren’t like this guy. Ten years later it still makes the hair on my neck stand up. I jumped away and screamed “excuse me” so loudly and angrily that he turned and practically ran out. Scary incident! Maybe he was trying to grab your package but you opened the door. My mind then thinks he saw an attractive lady and was contemplating his next move. Thank God you are smart and vigilant. I was a solo hairdresser in a small studio. I had a large window facing the street and people could see me working on my client as they drove by. It was good advertising, but one night i was working with a gal late into the evening. It was dark outside so of course since it was the 2 of us i had the door locked. The blind was still open as it had been all day. When i finished with her, i let her out and locked the door behind her. A few minutes pass and as I was cleaning up my station a man approach the door. I looked out the window and said "I am closed." He replied "I need to use your bathroom?" I said no and he then tried to push the door open. I grabbed the phone and called my husband who came right over. (I, too, wonder why I didnt call 911) He walked off and out of sight. I cannot begin to imagine what would have happened to me had i left that door unlocked. I am sure he was watching me work and planned to rob me..and possibly rape and murder me. I have had numerous encounters like this in my life...makes me want to train for concealed carry..The great equalizer!

Be aware of when you're innocently shopping and looking at things. I was in Walmart just 2 days ago and smelling the laundry dryer sheets, there were people in the store and I could hear the normal activity of shoppers behind me but as I was deciding which sheets to get I felt a shiver behind my neck, turned around and a huge man was standing behind me almost touching me, I then felt his presence and he was taking videos of me. As I turned around he pretended to take price readings in front of me which is impossible where he was standing and he said out loud, 'Oh its much cheaper in the other store' Then he turned around quickly and ran away behind a corner so quickly I couldn't find him to take a picture of him. I stayed int he store a long time and it was super busy so I left and had to take the bus and I was so glad many people and school kids were everywhere otherwise I would have taken a cab home. I also got on a train so he wouldn't know where I got off if he followed. I'm a sensitive person that knows how to be safe and even he overpowered my safety skills because I looked around me before even entering each aisle. Creeps know their craft and they know their victims and how to abuse their psychological thinking. I can't even enjoy shopping anymore especially men who get so close they rub against you in stores when walking by because it's crowded. Jenifer I'd be careful with you 'sexy' dances because we think its cute and fun but men look at things differently, to men it's sexual . God think about your daughter, she lives there too. Love you Jen, stay safe and aware.

I kept a friend for a long time who was creepy towards me. I mean most of the time he was really nice and he didn't have a lot of friends so I tried to ignore the bad and just focus on the good. But over time it got worse and worse. He knew computers really well. One time I came out of the bathroom and he was on my phone (which had been left in my purse and he didn't know my passcode, or so I thought... It was unlocked now) when I came out he quickly put it down and when I asked him about it he said he got it out to charge it.... Even though it didn't need to be charged... I was a little distributed but sometimes friends do that kind of stuff right? Then we were having drinks and pizza together one time and he told me that he could hack into my phone if he wanted to but that he would never cross that line... Then he grabbed me and kissed me. I went home and told him I couldn't be friends with him anymore and he threw a FIT. He told me I was a horrible friend and told his roommate and my other friends all kinds of things about me that weren't true. All of this happened because I ignored the red flags. Months later I got a random message from him saying that if anyone told me anything about him not to believe them and that he might be going to jail. He told me he was so mad at me still and that he wouldn't go to my funeral. I thought that was so creepy and random, we'd never even talked about our funerals...

Hi, Jenifer! You’re one that looks beautiful with or without makeup! And you all do look like celebrities! 😉😁
Anyway, that’s a wonderful message for women of all ages. It’s sad but true that women have to remain aware of their surroundings at all times. When I was 19 (I’m now 74 so it was a long time ago) I was stopped at a red light. Suddenly a guy jumped in the passenger side and told me to drive him to a certain shopping center. I was lucky in that he didn’t threaten me or brandish a weapon. I was so naive and scared so I just took him and he left. From that day forward I have never been in an unlocked car and would never roll my windows all the way down. I keep all doors and windows locked at home. Some might call me paranoid but I call myself aware. I also had my eyes opened when I worked as a patrol officer for a year back in 74-75. Women need to always be alert. Anyway, my eyes are healing nicely and I have a 5-week checkup this week! Blessings to you and yours! ❤

Awe that's cute, that she would wonder if you were a housewife...
I agree 💯💯 about TV, but I would think of it as a compliment, I'm pretty sure most of those ladies on housewives are good looking just bad personalities.

For the little pieces of hair, you could try spraying some hairspray on a little brush, old toothbrush or something similar, and then lightly smooth over them., the same for if you wear your hair up in a bun or or pony tail to smoothly around the face areas too. If you don't like hairspray, a balm product for hair will do the trick too. They can be very annoying, I get them too. I had a guy cut me off with his car as I was walking, he got out and asked for directions, I live in a smallish town, and I had seen him before multiple times and knew he knew where the street was he was asking me about. I was very unnerved, another time he started following me home when I was walking, drove past me then started in reverse as I walked, so I got my phone out, started filming him and rang my sister, who is a cop., gave her his licence. There's a lot of creepy people out there. I'm always on alert. Listen to your instincts. And one thing I saw on a self defense video, was actually practice using your pepper spray. You don't want to be in a situation where you need to use it, but don't know how it works, as they're all different. 💚🎄

Thank you for the tips! 😊 It sounds like that guy was practicing, to see what he could get away with and to see how receptive you were to his presence. He was definitely up to no good!😔 I HAVE practiced with my pepperspray before. Honestly I was SHOCKED at how far and precise it can travel. It hit the wall and as I got closer too it, I actually started to cough. Lol! It's pretty powerful stuff. ❤😄

@@JeniferJenkinsBeauty that's a great point, about him practising. I said to my sister, that he could be doing this to other women as well. She said he was well known to the police, but for other crimes. I still see him driving around in his noisy car though. I'm glad you have used your pepper spray, as the guy said it gets in your face no matter what you do, so it's good to know the effects if you are using on someone else., that it might effect you too. Stay safe and have a wonderful Christmas 🎄 💚🌻
