Thank you for speaking out for femininity and being a proud woman and stay- at-home mom - an extremely valuable, difficult and vital role. So many women nowadays are competing for more "manly" roles for fear of being seen as of lesser value or old fashioned.

    I LOVE THIS!
I'm 43, I think there is a very large gap between our generation and those younger than us when it comes to *marriage roles*
There will always be people that are easily offended by the advice given from someone in a different generation than they are, sometimes even angered.
I grew up in the Midwest in a traditional family, my parents had the same roles that you described in this video. My high school had classes for home economics and food... and all of us girls took those classes, they counted towards our credits to graduate... so they were actual classes. Home economics taught us how to sew, cut patterns for clothing, knitting... and food class taught us how to prepare, measure, cook, bake...understanding nutritional values... etc.
I mention that because that is something I feel is important in life, it teaches us how to be more self sufficient... one big reason is so we don't have to pay outrageous prices for pre cooked meals that are usually absolutely horrible for our health.
They don't have these classes in most schools anymore... they're no longer considered important in life skills.
A lot of marriages and long term relationships these days have 2 partners that have no conscience role in their relationship...I think they believe it's unacceptable to define their individuality to certain *roles* and that's really what they've learned to be accustomed to.
I'm a very independent woman, and I absolutely believe that roles in a marriage are significantly important to the happiness and longevity of that relationship. There are SO many things that happen every single day, and knowing what things will be done by your partner and what things are done by you just makes it soooo much easier to accomplish the day without all the chaos and stress.
My children have all graduated and are in college and/or starting their careers, and I can't tell you how many times they've thanked me for raising them with these traditional values/roles because they see a lot of their peers with zero direction or they're lacking basic life skills.
Marriage is teamwork, you can't have 2 quarterbacks playing at the same time... we need to know we can rely on each other to get their job done, so we can do ours.
I LOVE your opinions and way of thinking...I watch your videos and say *hey girl, me too!* all the time 🤍🤍🤍

Can you please make a video on how you manage your time and duties as a stay at home housewife / mom? I mean, do you have a cleaning schedule? A laundry schedule? Meal schedule? How do you take care of the house (and yourself! Which is impressive) sometimes women let themselves go when they have a lot of things to do, but you don’t seem to be that kind of a woman. Would love to know your thoughts on that and learn from you, cuz I always learn something from you and look up to you ❤️

Thank you so much for this. I've always had a low sex drive and have pushed my husband away for the last 17 years we've been married. Now he barely asks for it anymore and I feel horrible. He's exactly as you've described your husband. Thank you Lord for opening my eyes through Jenny. I'll do better.

    • @JeniferJenkinsBeauty
      @JeniferJenkinsBeauty  2 роки тому +16

Wouldn’t it be nice if we all had the same sex drive? 🙃 For most couples, I think it’s typically the man who has the greater drive, so you’re not alone. I went through a period once (after my first born) where I was completely uninterested for months. I actually felt bad because although my husband never reacted with hostility or anger, I personally felt bad for always rejecting him during that time. Rejection is painful, and it’s confusing, especially from a spouse. And then I thought to myself, ‘my husband should be able to have sex with his wife’. I just felt like it wasn’t fair that I was keeping that from him when I hadn’t before. So I just tried to look at it differently. When I’d be doing things with my daughter during the day on a weekday, I would remind myself that my husband made this possible. When I was able to sleep in because she had a rough night, I reminded myself that my husband made this possible. He was working hard so she and I could be together. That gratitude changed everything for me! I realized how loved it made me feel and it made me feel very affectionate towards him when he’d come home after working so hard every day. Anyway, I’m glad you felt open to that portion of my video. I was really worried about the response I would get. Thank you so much! ❤️🌺

This was a great intimate look at your married life and I admit at the end when I heard the song and saw the pictures of you and your husband it made me tear up. Your points I am sure will help so many....love is love and love really does find a way. In those first 10 years I was married to Bill I would be out gardening and be all sweaty and dirty and he would bound out the backdoor...pick me up and carry me into the house like Tarzan!!! My girlfriend said to me " how can you put up with that!" and I told her honestly, I wish he would do that every day. He saw me as beautiful and it helped me see myself that way. I think you and your hubby reflect each other's dedication and respect that you have for shared goals. You found your soulmate....this was wonderful my friend...it really was. xxoo Susan & D

Came across you randomly & was drawn to your upbeat & honest personality. Really appreciate you talking about your autistic son & caring about his special needs.
    I'm 55, autistic & adhd, late diagnosis at 50.
Both my parents are narcissistic & gave me childhood neglect.
I was undiagnosed, no special needs supported. Took me over half a century to realise I'm a double issue, without support is crushing. My life has been chaotic & dangerous.

Things were not always the best when it came to our relationship, many ups and downs until 4 years ago when my husband fully surrendered and became the Christian husband he was meant to be. I am so thankful that I stuck by him and never gave up even when I felt like I couldn't take it anymore. Now we have the best marriage ever, almost like when we first met. We love each other so much! Oh and the whole laundry thing, my husband does the same thing. I have even let them inside out, like you did, made me laugh. But honestly I try so very hard now to not let the little things bother me anymore. You and your husband sound so much like my husband and I and it’s really such a true blessing to have that kind of marriage. First of all, you named the number one key to a marriage or even relationship working: Communication. Also, Patience, Dedication, Commitment, etc. Those are all important! Also, what you're describing is basically, your husband is a true gentleman. I commend him for that! We need more men like him in this world. And like you said, you both work together to make it work. What one person doesn't do, the other one does, so all your bases are covered at all times. Less stress for you both then. Which means you have more time for your kids, and I understand about a kid with special needs (autism). My cousin has autism. But I give you and your husband credit for having the patience to deal with it and not let it rip your marriage apart, instead, it brought you both closer. God knew what he was doing. Your husband is your yin to your yang. No of course, no marriage or relationship is perfect. And you both acknowledge that which also helps you make it work. And again, respect is your husband's language because he's a gentleman. Seriously, I could go on and on about why I love this video, but bottom line is you are the perfect woman to tell other people how a marriage works. Because even though, not every marriage is the same, your tips could help a majority of people work out their marriages. So great video! I commend you both! Much respect!!

Having lost (deceased) my best friend/fiancé/father of my first born in my 20’s to becoming happily divorced in my 40’s I am ready for that “final destination” in my 50’s. The sex thing, men need sex to feel emotionally connected, women need to feel emotionally connected to have sex. Half the time my mind was always on stuff I had to do or what to make for dinner. DATE NIGHT I feel should also be a huge priority! Sharing what works for you two is definitely something I do strive for, especially having that love for staying active, fit, healthy! A win win in all facets of a relationship, as well as staying playful, and reading each other without saying a word! Thank you again for sharing, nix the naysayers. We stop flirting it’s like night and day. It’s so so so important in a relationship. I never realized how important until I hit 40.
I also so agree keeping in shape and staying desirable is important too. I’ve also been with my husband since we were 22 I just turned 40. It’s nice to know he’s still attracted to me and vice versa.

Thank you for sharing! It’s nice seeing and hearing about a relationship with roles that work. My husband and I are the same and I’m a stay at home mom, which now a days isn’t common. So I get a lot of questions of why do you stay home? He pays for everything? Etc etc. so much judging, but it works nicely for our family

So as someone who has gotten out if shape and currently trying to get back into shape, I can say that people just need to be real.
If you are naturally someone who enjoys fitness, whether because you always have been or just discovered fitness, you shouldn't get flack for that. If it makes you feel good and you enjoy each other's bodies, that's your business!
Why not enjoy life to your fullest while you can? If people get angry or triggered by you they need to look in the mirror and ask themselves if they are truly happy with themselves. People who are happy with themselves don't feel the need to put others down. The haters would rather get angry at something outside themselves so they don't have to face what they are angry at i side themselves.
Being dedicated to keeping yourself healthy, and minimizing disease is an act of love for each other. Wanting to be the best of yourself for the other is an act if love.

I love hearing how happily married you are- as my husband and I will be celebrating 26 happy married years next month, ourselves:) Our 22 yr old daughter, also acts squeamish when my husband & I show affection, admitted today that she secretly loves it because she knows we’re still in love! Re: bow chicka wow wow- all I can say is that it gets much spicier when the kiddos leave for college and also when the wife’s hormones are totally balanced (aka: HRT)
One other thing that may help someone- remember when you and your spouse are going through a hardship- you are on the same team. You are NOT enemies!! Attack the problem NOT each other. We have always come through the other side stronger because we have a natural tendency to band together. I hope this helps someone:) xo

I missed this video for some reason but I’m happy to have found it. My marriage is very similar to yours. (27years) I get a lot of flack from women that think I’m not independent enough or tell me I should be more involved with finance’s or whatever else. It was so wonderful to listen to your story. It really sucks that you/me always have to justify or have a disclaimer for our stories. I alway tell my daughter (23) not to tear other women down but lift them up. I’d love to see more videos like this one. You’ve already helped many women who watched it learn something by the comments left. I learned from your bulletin point about the importance of still being sexually active. I try not to say no a lot but thinking about it after you talked about it made me think I do say no too much. I never thought of it coming from a place of gratitude. Your examples of ways our husbands can say they don’t feel like going to work or paying a bill. Thanks for the tip! 😁

However, the video that I plan to make is how to avoid breakage. I just had to wait patiently for the shedding to stop, and then of course I add collagen to my coffee every morning and drink protein drinks a couple of days a week. I also practice a keto diet which is packed with protein.

I have a very similar marriage to yours. I am the same age as you, been with my husband since the age of 17. I was a SAHM for 13 years and even now only work 8 hours a week. Even though it’s kind of frowned upon these days (especially here in the U.K.), I love our more traditional marriage, I have the same role as you and my husband is like yours. If I work longer hours, I get stressed and that isn’t great for a healthy relationship. I also just love being at home with my family. We’ve had many ups and downs with the sad passing of close family members, my son had awful anxiety and school refusal for years, my now mum has Alzheimer’s (I care for her) and now I am in perimenopause and I can be a little bit crazy these days lol, these all put a big strain on a marriage and the wheels fall off the wagon at times but we stop, fix the wheels and carry on. Keeping fit at any age is never a bad thing, it is so important for physical and mental health and all those things are key ingredients to a good marriage. My husband is and also has been my rock and I hope he will always be 😊
