Hey Glam Girls! Question for you - I have decided to get rid of my background music because every time I watched my videos back...I found the background music to be more annoying than anything else. Can you please let me know if you prefer NO BACKGROUND MUSIC or BACKGROUND MUSIC? Do you prefer the ambiance of the background music? Help me! I will continue editing whichever way you prefer.
No music is great! I find sometimes that content creators put in background music and it is too loud and takes away from the conversation. I love your content and honesty!
I’m hearing impaired and with background music I find it very hard to understand. A lot of times I mute all sound and read the transcript but the I can’t watch what a person is doing. Please, please no background music.
I am 64 and just started wearing makeup again, thanks to Jones Road. The older you get, the less. cosmetics look good and these products make me feel beautiful again. Thanks, Gabi, for your honest review and helpful suggestion with the eye shadow.
@krazedkat5855 Nope. Not at all. No caking in valleys/lines, no powdery residue that sticks to face fuzz. It does have a slight "waxy" (not the best word, but I don't have a better one) feel, but it doesn't bother me at all. It feels protective actually from wind/sun and is moisturizing. It isn't "mask-like," but it doesn't quickly absorb into the skin like lotion. It's a slow absorb as the day goes on. Probably better for normal to dry skin. Hope this helps! 🩷
Bobbi gave this long, in-depth, extremely honest interview in Inc. Magazine (entrepreneurial mag) about her makeup start, how she created Bobbi Browns cosmetics, sold it to Estee Lauder, how EL had her by the balls, her finding passion for makeup again. Honestly, MUCH respect to Bobbi. A true female boss. If you can find the article online, I highly recommend every woman especially female business owners read it even if you aren’t in the beauty industry. I own my own art business and one day, I hope to have products like her. She is such an inspiration (regardless of how you feel about her makeup).
I never tried any of these products because I paid close attention to the descriptions and the intended market. I am 61 but my skin is not dry - it’s mostly normal, maybe a little oily in the T-zone. Bobbi created this line for women over 50 and that’s how she introduced it. I know a LOT of older women (like my 84 yo mom) who would probably do great with this stuff if she ever wore makeup. What annoys me is that the tik tok geniuses are so convinced that the world revolves around 20 year olds that despite the clear instructions from Bobbi Brown herself (in every ad and in all the marketing materials) that these products are a “miracle” for dry, mature, skin, the 20 year old forget that older women exist and they certainly don’t expect us to have any beauty products just for us, with the exception of blue hair dye and denture cleaners. This makeup looks great on Bobbi and I think she’s got to be 70. So just shut up 20 year olds. When we were 20 we used Noxema and foundation came in “light, medium, and dark.” And I will go head to head or skin to skin with any 40 year old and win, because I took care of my skin long before the internet or before it became fashionable. Rant over.
This is so true. As a 68 yr old my skin is completely different than it was even twenty years ago. I just went to my 50th HS reunion and received so many compliments on my skin, not my makeup.
Omg hail to you, so true-and back in the day Noxema was the HG. We did ok, but I don’t think any of us were bashing Bonne Bell or Yardleys Pot O Gloss for their innovation-the tik tok brats need to quit their mirror habit and get a life
Bobbi Brown is indeed a millionaire. I was taking her hotel reservations in 1986 and she was SOMEBODY back then. Yes, she has been doing makeup longer than your influencer has been alive. Bobbi Brown is iconic. Cant wait to try the Jones Road line. Thanks for the review Gabi!!
Agree! And according to several reputable online sources, "Bobbi Brown sold her cosmetics brand to Estée Lauder in 1995 for $74.5 million." MUCH GREATER THAN A MILLION! Go Bobbi! In all the "girls support girls" talk, I don't know why so many would throw shade or give her or her products flack. Except Gabi, very classy and respectful, while still being honest and transparent. I'll try the foundation. Thanks for all you do, Gabi!
Late 70s here. Just started using this line and do love it. Other makeup brands make my skin look dry and cakey and I love that moisturizer is not needed. You can set WTF by blotting ( yes put on more WTF for this) or by using some no color powder which I also love. The face pencils and neutralizer pencils str the first concealers to minimize dark circles and around eye redness. Unlike you however, I can’t smell the WTF. Must be my age!
This is the best review of JR that I've seen! I'm in my late 50s and have been using JR since the line first came out. I wear it on days when I don't feel like doing a face of makeup but want to look somewhat polished and pretty. I have dry skin so WTF and MB work really well for me. Just recently I woke up horribly late and my carpool was going to be picking me up in 10 minutes (gasp!). I pulled out my JR products, no skincare needed for WTF so that saved me more time, and in 5 minutes I felt confident that I wasn't going to show up to work looking like I just got out of bed (which is what I did).
I am 57 and LOVE the Jones Road products! As Gabi points out, it’s very good for those of use with dry skin and those that want a simple yet pretty look. The makeup brushes are AMAZING and made in Italy - worth every penny. I think it’s a fantastic line for the demographic. And Bobbi Brown is ICONIC. ♥️♥️♥️
I’m 57 and still have oily skin and the miracle balm was way too thick and shiny for me. The shadow was good but early hard to get out of that glass pot. I do like the concealer pencil a lot tho, great for dark veins that are popping up on the side of my nose.
I worked for Bobbi in the early 2000s. The Jones Road line is right on brand for her. The current Bobbi Brown line owned by Estée Lauder is not really representative of her philosophy, as it was in the early 2000s when I worked for the brand. The makeup artists that are mad about it only know how to do one kind of makeup. I said what I said.
Early 2000s was when I discovered Bobbi Brown! I loved the makeup that was put out by the brand then, although I believe it was already under EL ownership. Bobbi was in some of her own commercials back then, or at least narrated them (which was how I discovered her), so I assume she still had a lot of control over product development of the brand, but I only wore daily makeup until my mid 20s so no idea how BB under EL may have changed over the years.
Exactly!! When I was 15 years old Bobbi brown inspired me to get into makeup. I loved her simple, natural approach. It was at that time that I decided I wanted to be an esthetician. Here we are 2 decades later + I’m still using her knowledge! Those TikTok girlies are just revealing the fact that they aren’t makeup artists + are doing whatever it takes to go viral 😅
Gabi, you're gorgeous without makeup, but I must say Jones Road looks great on you! It looked dewy and fresh. Your skin looks very pretty in this brand. My two cents. ❤
Finally an honest unjaded review. Jones Road isn’t for everyone. I as a 55 year old love the Joans Road foundation and miracle balm. Easy light coverage that enhances my skin and just adds a little brightness and evenness without looking overly made up.
I just got my first Jones Road products yesterday, uand I love them all!! Someone commented today regarding how glowy my face looked.....I'm 73 years old and a retired business executive, my days of wearing full make up everyday are long gone. This is just a perfect face for me.
I prefer no background music. And thank you so much for doing a review on Jones Road! I’ve always been puzzled by the opposing reviews, so you provided important context. You always hit the mark and are still my favorite UA-camr, Gabi!!
Thank you for this! I bought the foundation, mascara, and stick and LOVE them! I was skeptical but they totally work with my 55 year old skin. Plus, I bought all the brushes you use and they are amazing. I couldn’t be more pleased with the outcome. Keep doing what you’re doing - you’re not just a makeup artist, you are a much valued teacher. Good teachers are hard to find!
I love this review, it was so thorough ! As I live in France, I can’t buy Jones Road and it’s been a huge frustration for me, this video only makes me want to buy it more. I’m 53 and I feel this is right up my alley … I love the way your face looked after the application because I like extremely natural make up. I feel like Bobby is catering to women of her age group, which is absolutely logical.
I'm 52 and I absolutely love it! I use the concealer pencil for under my eyes, the miracle balm as blush and the lipstick. They have an awesome returns policy so you can't really go wrong. I live in the UK - I wonder if you can maybe get a UK friend to forward your box.
I purchased the Jones Road line when it first came out a few years ago. I have very dry aging skin and I absolutely LOVE the WTF foundation for that reason. I have the mascara, face pencils, lip liner and several balms. It is true that the balms have little pigment for a blush but like you said it is a NATURAL looking blush. There is also a Jones Road tube blush that I use for higher pigment and double it as a lipstick. I love this line..but if you have oily skin I can see why you would not. The video before this one with the powder foundation I would be more hesitant to purchase as I age I prefer the creams. I think when you get a little older Gabi , you might like this foundation more.
Mature skin here and on the 5 minute face team. Thanks for giving me alternate application ideas. I appreciate seeing a review where the products get applied as intended. I can where this over light moisturizer if I allow moisturizer to soak in first.
Gabi , I’m so glad you did this review. I have been on such a makeup battle for 8 years. Since menopause, I have struggled to find a makeup that looks good on my skin for a variety of reasons. I have wanted to try jones road, but all the negative reviews have stopped me. After your review,I’m gonna try it.
Think again. The Miracle Balm is greasy and the foundation sticks are meh. I do like the powder eyeshadow. It is more expensive but the Westman Atelier Vital Foundation sticks or drops are far superior!
Thank you for this review Gabi! I’ve been wondering about this for years! Your unbiased review has helped me think about what to try! I’m especially glad that the WTF works over sunscreen, since that’s essential.
I like the miracle balm and am on the second tub of it, but I have dry skin and like extreme moisture and thick texture. I have the foundation too. but didn't know how to use it until I saw this video. Now it looks much better! My skin is pretty good at its baseline, so it works for me. The concealer pencil is my favorite, I use it around my eyes and mouth and barely have to blend it. It's like an eraser of dark areas. These products remind me of the Kevin Aucoin foundation pots in that they aren't intuitive, really. You have to work on it to get it right, but it's worth it. I actually use Kevin Aucoin on my dark circles and then the Jones Road everywhere else. Thank you for the great and balanced, thoughtful review, you're the best!
You're welcome Sarah! I am really happy to hear that you found this video helpful. Your skin type and preferences are PERFECT for this brand. I can definitley see this being an awesome product for you!
Right- it took me a while to get the application and choice of colors right. The first tub of miracle balm I got was just too light for my skin. Once the minis came out, it gave me the chance to try a lot of different colors. The color that looks best on me is actually MUCH darker than my skin. But by the time you get done blending, it looks great.
@@GlamGirlGabi- I’ve actually used the miracle balm as an alternative for primer under tinted moisturizer or sheer foundation, or even by itself on occasion
I want to love Jones Road but I’m still too oily and I live in a hot climate. I think they are great products but sadly don’t work well for me. This is a very honest and well balanced review.
Hi Gabi. Glad you did this video!I have to say that your skin with the Jones Road foundation and Miracle Balm looked beautiful. Of all the foundations I’ve ever seen you apply to your skin, this looked the most immaculate and true to skin. It looked flawless. It showed zero imperfections on your skin when you zoomed in. I like the idea of oil being the basis of this WTF foundation. Certain oils are highly beneficial to human skin. I may give this a try as I’m intrigued by the ingredients in this product.
Ok I’m stopping the video at 2:42 because I just have to tell you how absolutely STUNNING you look with almost no makeup. I mean, SO gorgeous. Wow. As someone who almost never has the time or money for daily makeup, I do enjoy watching content like this, but I’m always amazed at how fresh and lovely the “before” face looks. I get that made-up is a look and has impact, but I’ll always prefer the simple, natural minimalist look and you NAIL it 💖
This is my first time seeing your video since it came up in my algorithm and I just wanted to say you make really great videos with a balanced opinion, clearly expressed info, and impeccable editing with none of that influencer fluff so thank you for that. I used to be a makeup artist but I don't follow or watch any beauty videos tbh, and now that I'm old I barely wear makeup. So. It was great to hear about Jones road. Can't wait to try it out. Also, when the drama influencer was talking I found myself screaming at the TV "it wasn't made for children!!!" So it was funny to hear you agree but much more eloquently. Kudos sis. I hope you do great things. ❤
I've out this in my cart a hundred times and never pulled the trigger for various reasons. This is the BEST review I've seen on JR and I might give it a try. For the small amount needed, I don't see why they don't offer a smaller pot that cost less.
I’m 38 and I love Jones Road miracle balm and mascara! I’ve had so many compliments on how pretty my skin is while wearing these products. It’s simple and I would recommend trying the new palette to give more pigment. Also pairs well with the truffle spray D’Alta I think and looks so lovely! I also mix in the Bobbie Brown black gel liner for a bold eye. ❤
Yay, thanks for this! Ads for Jones Road have been ALL over my UA-cam feed, and i have been incredibly curious about the products. This video is super honest and helpful!
Thank you Gabby for this in-depth review of Jones Road. I bought a lot of it a year or so ago and ended up giving most of it away to my grandkids who looked great in it. I haven’t seen you do a review of arabesque BEAUTY but would love to see that sometime. Thank you for all your terrific kids and advice.
I’m 55 and love Jones Road makeup. I had been using another brand that I loved for 20+ years but my skin was maturing. I gave Jones Road products a try and have been using them the last year and love the change ❤
I'm 49, combo/oily. I quite like the WtF. You just have to learn how to use it! I still use skincare but for me, it is a question of using a small amount and I blend it into the skin with my fingers. I do have to powder it down to avoid shine and slip. It most reminds me of a bb or cc cream. A bit like my premium Dr Jart. I also actually like the smell. It's not something I woukd wear to work on a sweaty long shift as a nurse, but for days off, I like it. I also can't imagine it being an evening out type of foundation. I haven't had any separation issue (oil) like some but there are little bits in mine which blend away. Nice review. New subscriber. Truth wins all day everyday! 😅
Your review hit all the marks perfectly. As a 69 yo former mu artist, I've been looking for a JR revu that gets it, instead of misapplying the products and just dissing it... and many have done, at least, the first point. I've only used the JR face products not the eyes or lips. I am a tinted sunscreen/moisturizer type of girl forever. Always hated foundation except for photos. I agree that the Miami Beach MB as a blush doesn't cut it and it fades away. Using a powder or cream blush over it helps if you want color all day. I hear the Lip & Cheek stick is better for more color. The other MBs for highlight, bronzer/all over color are good and they do soak into the skin after a couple of hours for me. It's a win for me with a fresh, glowy skin like look for my dry, dehydrated, red skin.
The Lip & Cheek stick is a much more traditional product, in texture and also amount of pigmentation. It’s nice, but there are so many nice products like it
Awesome review. I do also find the descriptions of the products confusing and have had to look at them several times. But you have clarified some things I thought were confusing. I LOVE this product - 55 years old, like the "no makeup" look (the real one!), and have dry-ish skin and live in a dry climate. WTF and Miracle Balm have changed the makeup game for me. Very happy.
Thank you for reviewing. I’ve been on the fence about ordering and I value your opinion as you are always fair and honest. I am 60. So I am thinking for a light run about town look for a few hours this would be great ❤
Thank you for the thorough vid on Jones Road. I love how honest you are and how skilled you are, Gabi! I’m fairly new to your channel and LOVE YOU! You’re a total pro and such a sweetheart. You’re honest but still so kind at the same time, which I adore. I have been following your advice and buying everything you recommend… and I’m loving all of it! Thank you for all of your hard work. You’re truly a blessing ❤😊
Vaseline is EXACTLY it!!! I was so excited to get the new miracle balm pallet and boy was I disappointed. 😔 My face was sticky all day even with powder. I like sheer was of blush but the tackiness was too much. 😢
My husband overheard your description at the beginning of the video and said, “ there ya go. Get that and get rid of all that other stuff.” He prefers me without makeup but I love it.
I've not tried any of Bobbi Brown's products. I was tempted by the Miracle balms, they were so expensive I got the Revolution "dupe" and I LOVE it, so pretty! When that's gone I may try JR. The WTF looks like something I would like as I'm old and have dry skin. LOL I must say it looks absolutely beautiful on you-probably one of the nicest looks I've seen from foundation on you, the color is perfect and it makes your skin so lovely! The mascara looks nice too, I might even try that as I've still not found one I love. Thank you!
I appreciate this review so much! You say several times "It's doing what it says it will do..." that's the great thing about these products, and Bobbi's reasoning behind her philosophy... the makeup is meant to serve those of us who struggle in the crazy, over saturated, full-coverage modern makeup world. I have struggled my whole life with products that are harsh, over pigmented, and terribly drying to my naturally sensitive skin. I never dealt with acne, defined pores, or oily skin... now in my late 40's I have very little in the way of blemish or fine lines... what I DO have is redness, dullness, and dryness. I am naturally ginger, fair and freckled, I have never wanted to cover that up. I feel like Bobbi is exactly the artist to make a product for people like me because she is IN it! She understands the struggles of aging skin, of changes due to hormones and menopause... the complaints that we have because the products we trusted don't work any more.... she gets it and she is passionate about supporting the customers who trust her. This line does exactly what it says it should do..for the demographic it's formulated toward. If your results aren't great, it might not be FOR you.... that's okay because there are a million and one other companies that can work for you...but this is the ONE that works for someone like me!
No background music is my vote. The tiktoker reminded me of when you tried the drugstore foundations a couple months ago and you didn't use the proper amount (only amount needed)to give them a fair chance. I wish that you would redo that. Thank you for being here for us !
Great video! I tried it on my dry, 50s skin and despised the feel on my skin. For the same coverage and a much better feel, tinted sunscreen was better. Returned immediately.
I love it! 63 years old and was struggling to find something that worked for my older skin. It took getting used to, but it has been game changing for me. ❤
Didn’t notice I was so intent on your video…I’d say music not necessary! Totally appreciate your take on Jones Rd, I’ve watched a few negative reviews (Hot & Flashy) but you gave us a more in-depth look and how it works for some and not others. I’m now definitely interested in trying some of the products, Thank You Gabi 👍🏼👍🏼
Thank you so much for this honest and in depth review. I so appreciate your reviews!!! I have wondered about Jones Road. I too have heard so much... Awful and good. I love the way that you explain things so well for us so that we can make a better informed choice for ourselves.
I'm definitely going to give this a try. I like the no makeup look, and anything quick is perfect for me. I'm glad you did this review because I stayed away from it because of the bad reviews. Thanks Gabi
I’ve wondered what you thought of this, so I’m thankful for your in-depth, honest review. The time and effort you spend on your content is so appreciated. 🥰 Thank you, Gabi! 🥰
Thank you so much for this review, I have combo skin but as I get older my cheeks can very dry. I may have to try the foundation and concealer. I love the idea of a pencil concealer. The price made me hesitate but I might give it a try to see if helps my cheeks. I will not try the miracle balm as my hair would constantly stick to my cheeks with that that formula. I like the idea of a natural look but a balm would feel like putting lip balm on my cheeks
I’m 57 and have been using Jones Road for over a year now. I have normal skin and have never been a fan of a heavy makeup look. Bobbi Brown created these products for women like me. I love my skin and I take care of it. When I wear makeup I want to look like me-the confident, ass-kicking woman I am. I want to spend 7 minutes tops putting makeup on because I have learned that time is a gift, as is a good cup of coffee in the morning shared with my sweetie. When first choosing my JRB products I sent in a no makeup selfie and have been very pleased with their recommendations. My favorite products are the miracle balm, lip pencil, mascara, and The Best eyeshadow. My next try will be the face pencil. If your goal with makeup is to apply so much you’d put a Special FX makeup artist to shame, then this product is not for you.
So happy whenever your videos pop up! I’ve been super curious about this brand and grateful for your unbiased expert opinions especially your tips on applying it on bare skin. How does it compare to Westman Atelier foundation sticks? I studied Bobbi Browns makeup books as a teen and loved her Masterclass as an adult. She’s a legend!
Miracle balm is my go-to. I'm 60 and have mostly dry skin, but age-wise, it still looks great. I absolutely love the ease and look of the product. I can walk out the door in 5 minutes: balm, brows, eyeliner, mascara, and lip liner, and I'm out the door. Love it!
I didn’t care for the Miracle balm either for the exact reasons you did: 👏🏼not👏🏼enough 👏🏼pigment👏🏼 And if I apply enough to even get subtle color along with my blush, then my hair would stick to my face in the wind. Aiyiyi. But I do LOVE the Lip Tint. Favorite lipstick ever. And that’s saying a lot. Because I’m normally a stain/liner and gloss girl. It glides on beautifully and just looks so nice. I tried the WTF when it first came out and hated it. But I never realized I wasn’t supposed to do my skincare. I may try it again. Thanks for this, Gabi!
That's a very fair and accurate assessment of Joan Road's makeup. I am 49 and I use her product mainly during the winter months since my skin is dryer during that time of the year. The only thing I would say is the concealer crayon feels a bit sticky and pulls my skin when I apply it - maybe it's just me :)
I'm sorry Gabi, I think your skin looks great with the Jones road. You could apply some powder blush on top of the Jones road blush and get your pigment. I don't like blush myself. But I can tell you love to use it. Your skin looked super healthy especially in the daylight! If I could afford it..... I would buy it🎉
I just used Jones Road for the first time. I’m a female, age 54 and saw that I only needed to use a little WTF and was impressed to see the coverage as well as it did not crease in my fine lines around my eyes, but did a little in hard lines around my mouth. It actually made my skin feel fresh and glowy almost all day. It was exactly what I’ve been looking for, thank you Bobbi for looking out for us aging ladies who still want to look our best without spending tons of time on it.
Great review, Thank you - I think the miracle balm, is more of a stand alone product, I just use a Danessa Myricks, Powder Balm with it for a no makeup skin enhancer day.
Looks great on you Gabi. Jones Road Beauty does not test on animals. According to their FAQ page, all Jones Road products are cruelty-free. The brand was founded by makeup artist Bobbi Brown with the belief that the world needs better beauty products, not more. Jones Road products are also formulated without phthalates, sulfates, petrolatum, PEGs, cyclic silicones, EDTA, or BPA
I appreciate this review! I have a number of Jones Road products. I agree with you on the pigmentation of the miracle balm. I want to love it and I do use it, but I do wish it was more pigmented. I can't use much because my skin is on the oily side as well. I think most of all I like Bobbi Brown's philosophy on make up --enhancing your natural beauty rather than changing it -- as that is my perspective as well. So I enjoy her products! Going to try the cream shadow (and maybe the mascara) now after your review!
This is the best review of Jones Road I've seen!! I've been so tempted to try it but just can't pull the trigger because of so many negative thoughts. I might just try the eyeshadow you like!! Thank you!!
I am so happy to hear that you liked this review! Honestly, I like the products! They’re very unique and unlike anything I’ve tried before. I give Bobby a lot of credit for being so innovative.
I bought the Miracle Balm sampler when it first came out and I LOVE it! I tend to have oily skin but just use it as a face hi lighter and cheek enhancement. People often tell me my face glows, what’s better than that? I’m in my mid 60’s.
I have been using Jones Road for months and I love it. I am 65 with normal to dry skin. I like a natural look, not into very heavy foundation. I have the pencils too but they are a bit drying for around my eyes. I use them for spot coverage. I also use a very tiny bit of powder in areas where the foundation or miracle balm gets shiny.
Thank you for this video. Saving it for future reference. Always loved BB make up. I’m definitely going to try the WTF foundation and face pencil. I’ll start with those. 🥰
I love what I have used from Jones Road Beauty! I have some of the Just a sec shadows and like that a lot, but I really am drawn to the Sparkle wash eye tints for easy touchups that add a pop. I just really tried miracle balm on my eyelid because it freaks me out a little bit, but I still like it. I will try more and think it is pretty. I would love to see you review Ilia products. I love their products! :)
Thank you for this very balanced review. I am 56 and love make up, but have always kept it pretty simple. For years I only ever wore mascara and eyeliner because my skin was in good shape. Now, I do glam it up for special occasions, but that doesn’t happen often. Been wanting to try JR. You have clarified so much for me and I love that it a clean brand. Fell in love with Bobbi Brown in the 90’s. Glad to see her back!
Im a huge Jones Road fan 👏 we are lucky enough in NJ to have the flagship store, i have visited multiple times and they are so amazingly friendly there. Shout out to Siobahn there who helps me every time and always hooks me up with the best products for me! WTF Face Pencil, Brow Pencil, Bronzer and Mascara are my daily makeup 👏
I love it! I use WTFoundation and Miracle Balm on top of that. I am 75 years old. Every time I use Jones Road foundation, face pencil and concealer, and balm, I get compliments on how good my skin looks. Not how good my makeup looks! How good my skin looks. I agree that the miracle balm does not provide much pigment, so if you want more just add on top. I love this glowy, natural, healthy look.
Thank you for this review and demo, Gabi! It's very helpful for those of us with limited budgets to understand what may work for us beforehand. As a 59yr old with oily and sensitive skin, almost everything I've tried has been a disaster for long wear. Being neurodivergent I find heavy makeup to be hard to tolerate (our famous sensory issues). You've given me some options to consider and for that I'm grateful. xo
I am a mature person, but I have to admit that I have zero interest in this brand. I wear foundation because I have a lot to cover up, so "light" coverage is useless to me. Also, I am a matte look fan. "Dewey" or "luminous" on me just looks greasy. I appreciate the thoroughness of your review because it reinforces, for me, that this isn't a makeup line that I want.
Yes, I find that dewy/luminous is actually aging on most older women, as it brings attention and shine to areas that you don’t want to emphasize. A soft blurred matte look with blush applied high on cheekbones and lightly across the bridge of the nose takes years off the face.
I can understand a lot of us not knowing how to use these products the correct way but these young influences should do their homework and check into how and what these products are all about before they give their critics. I also agree with a lot of comments here in that, most that are giving their opinions are too young to have a definite say in the matter. As far as the music in the background, I real don't mind it at all. I truly enjoy all your videos.
Great review Gabi! I just started using JR products and found that at first I didn't care for the Miracle Balm, but after a couple of "wears", man do I prefer this over regular makeup! Quick, easy, & natural looking. Thanks Bobbi!
I love a very natural look, but due to how expensive the brand is, I don’t intend to try it. I like the Revlon cream eye shadows. They can also be used as a one and done eyeshadow. Sometimes I just use my bronzer as a one and done shadow. Also love the L’Oreal Nude skin tint that has a beautiful natural but better skin finish.
Hi Gabi, I actually use a stippling brush with my Miracle Balm (I use the color flushed) straight into the pan and back onto my face and have good results with color payoff. Try it that way!
I think the branding is fairly clear that many if not most of these products are aimed at "mature" women's skin...I am 51 and I have no complaints whatsoever, because I went for these products after "traditional" make-up started to fail me as my skin began to change with age. I have also always been a "less is more" kind of make-up girl, which also fits with this product line. It's clean, it's no-frills, it does what it says it will do. I love it.
I looooove the miracle balm, I got Miami beach tone and it gives you an inmediate healthy look even without makeup. I also love the concealer pencil and the mascara. I think this products are great if you are looking for a soft and quick make up with natural results. For me they just work perfect
Your makeup looks very natural and beautiful. Thank you for this video. I got Jones Road producs couple of years ago and didn't like them. After watching your review today, I want to try it again. Thank you again, Gabi.
Jones Road is perfect for MATURE DRY SKIN. I have mature dry skin and Jones Road works wonders for me since I want something quick and easy - I have been complimented on my glowing skin! The eye pencils were a no for me but the other products are wonderful.
This was super informative, thank you! I've never tried this brand but I have skin like yours and don't think it will work for me. But it was nice to see an honest review of all the products. I love the OG Bobbi Brown makeup - it was one of the first brands I bought a full face of from the makeup counter "back in the day."
Jones Road is not meant to be all things to everyone. I’m fine with that. I think many brands would be better served by not pretending they are. I’m 50. The What the Foundation works for me in the winter. Like you mentioned, the whole line works for a 5 minute face- including skincare. My sunscreen has antioxidants so I can do EVERYTHING in 10 minutes or less and still look great all day. I use sunscreen, WTF, eyeliner, mascara, lipstick as lips and blush and then I’m done! WTF is a little too emollient in the summer because of humidity for me. It’s especially great for travel. I do think the balm package is too much product. I’d rather it be 1/3rd the amount and price so I would buy and use up more colors. On a really lazy day, the balm is a great one & done product. Sunscreen, miracle balm on cheeks and lips, and some brow gel and I’m good for a weekend. I don’t like the concealer but I struggle with that product in general so my expectations were not high.
Thanks for the review on Jones Road products. I actually have WTF in my cart but have been hesitating to make the purchase. Being a senior gal and living in the desert, I am going to give it a try.
Bobbi Brown was one of the first make-up artists that recommended that you use lip liner to line and color in the lips, and then apply lipstick on top of it.
Great video! I do love the miracle balm, what the foundation and the cream eyeshadow and wear them everyday - all three are my go to items! I also have very dry skin. I have to try the mascara after your video - seems really amazing.
Great review, love the honesty. I use jr on my 49yr old face, I love the glow, the lack of caking and lines, as you say have to accept the dampness but for me this outweighs looking and feeling confident. Also, you my dear look fabulous with or without makeup ❤
I love it! I’m 64 and have dry and sun damaged skin. I use WTF daily when going to my job, but for just hanging out at home, I use MB. For travel only…I use her cleansing stick and then apply the oil stick for my night moisturizer. So for me, I LOVE IT❤
Hi Gabi, Love your JRB review. I have been using it for 3 years and love it. I am 54 and have normal to dry skin. I wear the Miracle Balm (I know you do not like it) every day because it gives me moisture with shine and a slight sparkle. As you said in the beginning of your video, this is not for people who want a really "glam" look. That is 100% me; I am not a big makeup user, and like a "little" with a natural look. I am Bobbi's target customer. Thank you for such a thorough video and review!
No music is good
No music is great! I find sometimes that content creators put in background music and it is too loud and takes away from the conversation. I love your content and honesty!
I prefer no background music. I too love your content. Keep up the good work!
@@irmaperez3318 This is all so validating! Thank you all so much for the feedback! I was finding it totally distracting too.
Thanks for the honest review.❤
Same here! ❤
Does it settle in lines? Or cake?
@krazedkat5855 Nope. Not at all. No caking in valleys/lines, no powdery residue that sticks to face fuzz. It does have a slight "waxy" (not the best word, but I don't have a better one) feel, but it doesn't bother me at all. It feels protective actually from wind/sun and is moisturizing. It isn't "mask-like," but it doesn't quickly absorb into the skin like lotion. It's a slow absorb as the day goes on. Probably better for normal to dry skin. Hope this helps! 🩷
Too much sparkly and glittery stuff which doesn't look good on my older skin.
Not possible to read the entire Inc article as it has a pay wall.
@@gracefulvintage Darn. Perhaps your library has a copy or digital copy.
A 25 year non-compete is pretty LOOOOONG! I like that she came back anyway! It's kind of an "in-your-face" move!
Bobbi did not have to sign the EL contract. She was making plenty of money without selling the business to Estée Lauder. So boo-hoo for her.
We did ok, but I don’t think any of us were bashing Bonne Bell or Yardleys Pot O Gloss for their innovation-the tik tok brats need to quit their mirror habit and get a life
I loved your rant. Thank you.
😂 Noxzema and 3 shades of foundation. Bare, Tawny, and Tan. 😂😂😂😂😂 take me back!!!!!
I agree! They can stay in their lane! Ours is narrow enough as it is.😂
Bobbi Brown is indeed a millionaire.
Me too. I have no interest in looking like im trying too hard, but I'm not ready to give up yet either. This has been perfect.
I’m 57 and still have oily skin and the miracle balm was way too thick and shiny for me. The shadow was good but early hard to get out of that glass pot. I do like the concealer pencil a lot tho, great for dark veins that are popping up on the side of my nose.
Same! (57 and love it)
60 and love, love, love it.
❤
Same here. Completely different so sad. I worked for her line 2008 and freelanced between 2010-2014
Truth ❤
Glad it was helpful Pamela! And thank you so much for saying that. It really means the world to me!
Very thorough review. Thank you
Thank you for this!
Have you tried the L’Oréal Age Perfect 4-in-1 Tinted Balm Foundation?
It feels and smells like sea buckthorn berry oil. If you like that oil as moisturizer, you’ll love jones road
What do you use for dark circles?
You're welcome Sarah! I am really happy to hear that you found this video helpful. Your skin type and preferences are PERFECT for this brand. I can definitley see this being an awesome product for you!
@@ninahall2845there are color sticks for that
Right- it took me a while to get the application and choice of colors right.
It wasn’t made for oily skin
Great review. Thanks for explaining all of it. I also like that you added the Bobbi Brown's videos. Keep up the great work.
If you do try it - let me know what you think!
I’ve been so curious for a long time about the Jones Road products. Thank you for trying them out and giving your honest review. Very helpful!
Best review/tutorial I’ve seen on Jones Road. It really explained a lot of the misconceptions about it. I’m willing to try it out now.
Very informative video. Love how you included both positive and negative reciews, and then followed up with your honest feedback.
I get that made-up is a look and has impact, but I’ll always prefer the simple, natural minimalist look and you NAIL it 💖
I’m 55 and this foundation and product line makes me smile every time I apply it. It feels wonderful on and looks fantastic in any light.
The foundation makes sense for girlies like me who have no skin issues but want an even tone and tint. We don’t do full coverage.
Overpriced, I tried the balm, it is a sticky mess!
I am 70 and love this brand! Love miracle balm. Use the cover-up pencil. Love both!❤❤
I’m 38 and I love Jones Road miracle balm and mascara! ❤
I think she nailed it. It’s a Glossier-esque no makeup makeup line, and I’m here for it. Great job!
Thank you!
I am the PERFECT candidate for WTF - and I LOVE IT! Dry and 57 years old - it is literally the only foundation I can use:)
I love it too!
Same
Agreed. And it sparkles! Ridiculous.
@@Cassandra-..-even my 13 yr old granddaughter didn't like it😅
My hair stuck to my face and it was extremely greasy
Gabi might not feel like the balm has enough pigment, but it looks like a 100% natural flush on her face.
Thank you Gabi! Love it in my late 50s's! Bravo Bobbi Brown. WTF is amazing - 5 minute makeup - tap tap tap!
No background music is my vote.
The tiktoker reminded me of when you tried the drugstore foundations a couple months ago and you didn't use the proper amount (only amount needed)to give them a fair chance. I wish that you would redo that.
Thank you for being here for us !
This is the review I have been waiting for 🙌🏼 great job with the descriptions and recommendations.
Great video! I tried it on my dry, 50s skin and despised the feel on my skin. For the same coverage and a much better feel, tinted sunscreen was better. Returned immediately.
Plus, its so pricey 😮😮
Thank you. This was the best review and tutorial of this product that I have seen. You were very fair and thorough.
Thank you, Gabi!
Thank you for sharing your experience with Jones Road. I totally agree and love that you shared your favorite products from the line!
That foundation: if it's not buildable, forget about it!
Too expensive for products that aren't all that and a bag of chips.
Great video, Gabi!
Bravo Gabi for keeping it REAL in your review 🙌🏼🫶🏼🙌🏼!! Your skin was glowing 🫶🏼BTW
I think WTF will be a great product for the cold, dry winter in Alberta
Miracle balm is my go-to. I'm 60 and have mostly dry skin, but age-wise, it still looks great. I absolutely love the ease and look of the product. I can walk out the door in 5 minutes: balm, brows, eyeliner, mascara, and lip liner, and I'm out the door. Love it!
I didn’t care for the Miracle balm either for the exact reasons you did:
👏🏼not👏🏼enough 👏🏼pigment👏🏼
And if I apply enough to even get subtle color along with my blush, then my hair would stick to my face in the wind.
Love miracle balm especially for taking red out of skin , I use bronze! Then use Miami Beach for blush! I have dry dry skin!❤❤
Thank you for sharing this! I have dry rosacea skin and was thinking about bronze, now I know it works and I’ll buy it.
Glad it was helpful!
Where is the flagship store in NJ?
My opinion exactly!! It's perfect for me in my mid-60s.
All that makeup looks awesome on you in the natural light!
You've given me some options to consider and for that I'm grateful. xo
I'm here to help and try to keep the shopping process as smooth as possible. I know how overwhelming it can be.
Me 2 sista!
Yes, I find that dewy/luminous is actually aging on most older women, as it brings attention and shine to areas that you don’t want to emphasize. A soft blurred matte look with blush applied high on cheekbones and lightly across the bridge of the nose takes years off the face.
I absolutely love this video. Thank you. It really evaluated Jones Road make up fairly without a lot of attitude. A great review.
I love it.
Exactly this 🙌
I looooove the miracle balm, I got Miami beach tone and it gives you an inmediate healthy look even without makeup.
I think you look absolutely gorgeous in this makeup. You just made me want to go purchase everything you’re wearing, including the miracle balm.
My ‘pause skin is so dry now I use argan oil to moisturize- so I’m not afraid of this after your video. Just ordered it. 🤞🏻
This is an outstanding fair review. Thank you for doing it yes I've been waiting for someone to since the brand launched.
Let me know what you think! I’m really happy with it. I also have a video coming soon with a full face of RMS.
Thank you for being honest while still being kind in your reviews!
Great review, love the honesty. I use jr on my 49yr old face, I love the glow, the lack of caking and lines, as you say have to accept the dampness but for me this outweighs looking and feeling confident. Also, you my dear look fabulous with or without makeup ❤
If makeup is making you feel confident, that's what really matters!
I love it! I’m 64 and have dry and sun damaged skin. I use WTF daily when going to my job, but for just hanging out at home, I use MB.
For travel only…I use her cleansing stick and then apply the oil stick for my night moisturizer.
So for me, I LOVE IT❤
Hi Gabi,
Love your JRB review.
I'm so glad you found it helpful and that you found a product line you love!
