If it makes you happy the original novel doesn't have any kind of happy ending, as it ends similarly to season 1 of the show: a couple characters knowing that history has possibly taken the opposite course in another universe (ours) and that they're stuck in theirs, where these novels written by The Man In The High Castle retell the events of WW2 as we know. Also, in the novel's world, the situation in the US and the world was far bleaker, as the US weren't just divided in two sides and a neutral zone inbetween, but the americans thselves gave in to the German propaganda and actually formed nazi-alligned satellite states, like the Client United States of America, the Southern Confederation, and the Rocky Mountain States. Plus the whole world was divided among the Great Turkish Sultanate, the New Roman Empire (Italy), France (Vichy-Republican), the Greater German Reich, the Great Japanese Empire and its huge Asian Co-Prosperity Sphere.
