For anyone curious the song name is “Mack the Knife” (Note: unfortunately I think the version used here is a rendition of the song made specifically for this scene I couldn’t find the exact one anywhere)
@@tommyhunter1817 oh, then no. in the show the Americans celebrate because they where largely assimilated into the greater Nazi Reich, essentially seeing it a win for the people of America. In real life when we got Germany to capitulate we went in and "reeducated" its populace into hating their culture (especially pertaining to military culture) and themselves as an assurance that they wouldn't build up a new military and trigger a third world war all being done under the idea of "de-nazi-fication". It is because of this that Germans now are very weary of other Germans who seem overly patriotic to the extent that it is taboo to be very open about patriotism or be overtly nationalistic. The only reason they would celebrate VE Day in Germany is because they want to make it clear that they see what they once were as wrong. Overall the difference between the show and reality is that in the show the germans convinced the Americans to love what happened to them and in reality we convinced the Germans to hate what they were, making them celebrate out of self spite if they celebrate at all.

A television series based on a science fiction novel written in 1962 produces that response... take it you're a "True Believer"? There's a flaw in authoritarian societies because "... everyone wants to rule the world." They tear each other down in pursuit of more power. Your displeasure with ANTIFA means you're not even qualified to be a Brown Shirt as you have no discipline. No restraint. You are a street thug compared to the Reischfurher. You have to be able to think more to be significant.

A true classic.
It's the Bing crosby version.
The German original is better.
There's Bobby Darin's version. And there's all the rest.
It’s Bing Crosbys version if you haven’t found it already. There are plenty videos of it on UA-cam, and I’ve even found it on Spotify too.
4th of July in Ohio
Only in Ohio indeed
I love this scene

Just think if the Nazis had really created several atomic bombs and the long range jet bombers to deliver them.
They couldn’t have made enough to defeat the US. Just like the Allies didn’t have enough to beat the Soviets after WWII.
@@tommyhunter1817 if the Nazis beat the US in the atomic race, it's highly likely the Allies would have lost the war.
Pretty sure that question was Philip K. Dick's impetus to write the novel.
A true American family
They're nazis.
You mean germanic European family
More American than any American family now.
You mean north american under nazi rule family
@@thesilverreich3947 no because John Smith was a pro Nazi American.
So, in our timeline, do Germans celebrate getting their asses kicked on VE Day????
yes, europeans are forced to pretend to celebrate the destruction of the heavenly paradise and the victory of the jewish puppets.
No but we celebrate destroying Jews like rats and laughing at Americans for fighting in wrong peloton.
You mean D-Day?
@@nerdlord6164 no, do they celebrate VE Day like these folks supposedly celebrated VA Day?

Its a shame they destroyed all the props after filming, I'd love to get some of the flags and uniforms.

Yeah but why?
It would be cool cosplaying on that uniform
