Last Baratheon during baptism you aren't deliberately drowned, just dipped in water, unlike the Ironborn ritual were drowning is an essential part.

Theon's arc also seems to mirror the theme of resurrection in the Drowned God's religion. Theon is "killed" by Ramsay, only to be "reborn" once free. And, as we see in the final episode of Season 7, Theon is absolved by Jon, and appears to be stronger (both physically and morally) than he was before his capture. After his torture, he rises again, harder and stronger than he was in the earlier seasons. Yes, he falters and stumbles, but he is stronger nonetheless.
The Greyjoys may not sow, but this show totally does!

The removal of Theon's little theon could also be a perverse take on the Greyjoy motto: We do not sow. As Theon no longer has any seeds to sow with.
Theon remains my favorite character, book or show. His split between the family that birthed him and raised him, Independence or submission, honor and power, ect is some of the best storytelling in ASoIaF imho

“We do not sow” is definitely a really weird thing to say proudly. Like, he’s literally saying “we don’t farm our food like normal people. We sail up to the farmer’s land and steal all his crops before gutting him like a pack of rabid psychopaths.” Like, bro, just take some seeds next time and save yourself the trouble of constantly having to risk your life for every grain of wheat you need to eat.
You're assuming that they're in a place where the land can be farmed. It's very likely that the there is little to no fertile land on the Iron Islands. Especially with how rocky and mountainious the area is.

"What is dead may never die" is probably a reference to H.P Lovecraft's "that is not dead which can eternal lie, and with strange aeons even death may die", from Call of the Cthulu
An interesting thing, too, is that they, due to all their lore with the sea, have been associated with some Lovecraft-like denizens of the deep, and their saying sounds much like the first half of the Lovecraftian couplet

On regards of the sailing and the speculations about after life rewards. Vikings were very gender egalitarian though, they might have even included their version of non-binary people fully into their society. And they were great at land battles, much like the Dothraki are presented before season 8, but of course on feet. Part of their society grew crops and had cattle, like the ones they abandoned in Iceland.

All of this is true, which is why one of the (many) things about the series finale that seemed a little "off" was Yara's willingness to accept Bran as her king, especially when his own sister insisted on Northern independence. Didn't Yara bring up Ironborn independence as part of the deal when she was negotiating to join forces with Daenerys?
Yara is definitely one of the best characters in the show
Excellent breakdwon, as always! I find it interesting that ironborn have little respect for emotional people, women, and those who make alliances and gain power from marriages and so on. And look who are the last 3 Greyjoys left: Theon, the emotional one; Yara, a woman; Euron, the one who gained power through his future marriage. Anyway, I loved all of your videos thus far, and I'm looking forward to more. I expect House Martell soon😉

The Ironborn always seemed to me like a variation on the “Philistine” category; people who take pride in their ignorance and sneer at what most other groups consider normal, civilized, or cultured. In the Histories & Lore features of the Blu-Rays, other characters also point out the Ironborn tendency to become so drunk on their perceived sense of superiority that they fail to understand simple concepts, which usually lead to their defeat.
I don't know about others but according to me, the Greyjoy soundtrack is the best...

Not directly. Their appearance seems inspired by the mongolians and huns (although their blades are closer to a kopesh). They looted a lot of symbols, but don't use any of their own. Their language may be more interesting to analyse.

Jaime gave the most accurate, honest description. Their king (Balon) scolded Theon for buying a golden chain instead of stealing it (Theon could just lie, but he was never a great thinker, neither are ironborn though). Overall, a cancer society who did nothing good for Westeros. But damn, Victarion book chapters are pure heavy metal. Everyone freaks at White Walkers, plays politics, struggle to survive or undergo complicated character development. Victarion just sails in and murders everybody.

Theon isn't a beloved character in the fandom to let others tell it. I think his character arc is one of the better ones in the series.
The show ruined the image of the greyjoys compared to the books. Only lately the show has done the book greyjoys justice, and still not even

Heck I have been expecting a whole lot more of her this season as a bloody POV character in the books yet only one episode and splurting about half a dozen lines! A fucking disgrace if you ask me!
darkstar6909 Prince Doran (wheelchair man in Dorne) was a peacekeeper in the books, a ruler sitting atop a beehive of people upset at the death of Prince Oberyn (the Red Viper). He has a daughter who feels she is lesser in her father's eyes because he keeps presenting her with disgusting suitors, though he never forces her to accept one (which is another reason he's regarded a weak ruler, an image he cultivates). In defiance she convinces Myrcella's Kingsguard protector to let her take the girl and put a crown on her head, presenting her to Westeros as a contender for the Iron Throne. She is betrayed, Myrcella is badly hurt (though not killed at this point), and Ser Oakenshield dies valiantly trying to protect his 2 princesses. When finally brought before her father this younger Martell is given his reasoning for trying to appear weak: he has been conspiring to undermine Baratheon rule since his sister Elia's death. She was presented with old, fat, lame suitors that she would reject to keep up appearances, as she and her brother (the boy who showrd up with his friends on Daenerys' doorstep and stupidly tried to approach the dragons beneath the pyramid) were betrothed to the remaining Targaryens. Even as far as Book 5, the Sand Snakes have only ever been a dangerous nuisance, not a power on their own.
I don't know why, but in french version of the books, they translate kraken into cuttlefish.... Not as impressive as the original sigil is XD

I think there was another Greyjoy in the show, Aeron (the Priest).
Considering the Kingsmoot and leading of the Ironborn, he's out of the game. The Drowned Men serve only the Drowned God, not any particular house; he's gonna have to ignore his personal allegiance (kinda like the maesters, who serve not one family but only the castle they're stationed at).

AR21 I think he will stay loyal to Cercei, she will send in her army to the north after the north and alles have defeated the white walkers with heavy losses, and Dorne comes in for ultimate revenge, i refuse to believe that a house as powerfull as Martell, will just stand by after they lost so much to the Lannisters.

Stannis defeated them at the sea
Rebirth. Theon pays the "iron price" with Ramsey and "dies" now that he is dead as Theon Greyjoy he is reborn as Reek. When he is about to be killed by Euron he runs away, because is pride as Theon is dead and what is dead may never die. The Greyjoys themselves die and are reborn by the hardship of their constant conflict. The Greyjoys who fight in roberts rebellion die off because they sought confict, and they are forged like iron by the "impurities" being killed off in the family line. Theon represents the ways of the drowned god (for the reasons listed above) and Euron represents the storm god. Euron gains strength from destroying and Theon gains strength from being destroyed. Similar to how the ocean becomes for fearsome when acted upon.
