  • In this video, I explain the step by step process for the removal of the DB Killer on an Akrapovic exhaust.
    The model I have is the S-H6R14-HEGEHT for my Honda CBR650R (2020 model).
    The process should be similar for most Akrapovic exhausts, although I am aware some are bolted or tac welded in place.
    This video describes the safe removal of the DB Killer and keeps it in tact for future re-fitment. Unlike other videos on YT, whereby the DB killer is damaged on removal.

    Hi. Quite useful video, thanks a lot. Do you or Does anyone know an easy way to use this dbkiller as putting on/off easier, without removing the silencer out of the bike, or even without removing the carbon cover. I’m thinking of a way to modify the dbkiller such a way that it’d be on/off easier without removing anything. Any ideas? Thanks.

    Removing the db killer, does it cause the bike to run lean? Would you need to remap it, given the exhaust specs say it auto tunes

  • @jcmbeatz

    Thank you, do you have to do the whole process of pushing it out, even after drilling, when you put it back in and have to take it out again. Or is it easier?

    • @cbr650ruk3
      @cbr650ruk3  2 роки тому

      To be honest, I haven’t fitted it since removing it, so I couldn’t tell you.
      I would imagine it will be easier, as the push fit from factory will be very tight. Once removed, it will have lost that tight fit and should be easier to remove again.

  • @dca88bmx

    I gave up doing mine couldn't get the actually dB killer itself out so just put an m5 bolt to hold it in place till can be bothered to do it again.

      The tac weld on your exhaust might be slightly larger, so you may need a slightly bigger hole / drill bit.
      The sizes I discussed in my video worked for my exhaust, but each may be slightly different and you would just need to adapt accordingly

    Can the inner db killer be removed somehow, without causing damage?

    • @cbr650ruk3
      @cbr650ruk3  2 роки тому

      I don’t think the inner can be removed at all, but I am happy to be corrected.
      I haven’t attempted it, or really looked at how it’s mounted, but it may be permanently fixed.

    Heyy man i‘ve drilled the weld with up to a 8 mm because my weld is very big. But i still cant tap it out… What should i do?

    • @cbr650ruk3
      @cbr650ruk3  Рік тому

      Hey, that’s really strange the weld seems to be that big. The are just a tac weld, so shouldn’t be any bigger than 8mm.
      You may see in the video, it did need a fair amount of persuasion to remove mine. It’s heat fitted, so you will need some force to remove it.

    Hello man! Is the hole you want to drill welded?

    • @cbr650ruk3
      @cbr650ruk3  2 місяці тому +1

      Yes, there are tac welds holding the DB Killer in place. The idea is drill through the tac weld and then you are able to begin removing it as per the video.

    Are these legal on UK roads? Its fairly large so i cant quite tell if it has a cat or not?

    • @danyfox7431
      @danyfox7431 2 роки тому +2

      Hey, usually the cat is between the exhaust and the manifold. It's an extra part that you have to buy sperately. I assume the output of smog won't get much if any worse, it will only get much louder :)

    • @cbr650ruk3
      @cbr650ruk3  2 роки тому +2

      Technically this is not legal on the UK roads, as it hasn’t got the CAT fitted. However, as DanyFox has stated, the emissions on the bikes is minimal (compared to a car), so it makes the bike less choked. This certainly helps open the bikes engine up throughout the Rev range and has increased the noise significantly.
      The model I have (HEGEHT) can be spec’d with a CAT at extra cost, so I could add if I really wanted to. However, the other model cannot be spec’d with a CAT and is solely sold as a race exhaust.
      I hope this helps 🤙🏻

      @@cbr650ruk3 ah ok, thanks for that, didnt know they make cats for these, I'd like mine a little louder but no so much that its annoying me so thats why i wanted something with a cat, more for sound baffling.
      How have you found it on longer journeys? Sound wise? Not giving you headaches or anything?

    • @cbr650ruk3
      @cbr650ruk3  2 роки тому +1

      @@doubledkay5356 it’s not driven me mad yet, but I am still enjoying the noise of it too much to be annoyed. Not sure the neighbours would agree!
      I am getting the bike wrapped soon, so it’s a fairly long ride, so I will see how I get on. There is always ear plugs 😜

    I have 2019 and struggling to get it out after drilling 😢

    • @cbr650ruk3
      @cbr650ruk3  Рік тому

      Have you increased the drill bit size? The weld may be slightly bigger on some and smaller on others. As long as you know you are on the weld, then I would maybe go up a half (0.5mm) size each time.
      They are also press fitted, so once you have drilled the weld, they will still take some force to come out.
