  • How to easily remove the DB killer from an Akrapovic exhaust!
    So you have a Honda CB650R / CBR650R with a saucy Akrapovic exhaust, but you want to remove the baffle! Here I'll show you an easy method that you can do with the exhaust still attached to the bike. In the video I have taken it off for ease of filming.
    I found this method easier than trying to tap the baffle out from the header end of the muffler as you risk damaging the internals of the exhaust with that method.
    Items I used below:
    Steel threaded rods (M8 x 300mm)

    This exhaust is the old model produced in 2016 and it is euro 3 homologated which means the baffle is removable... newer version (euro 4) single outlet baffles are welded and it is pretty hard to remove. I bought the old model and removed the baffle with the use of bearing puller.

    I have this same exact setup and have been yanking on this thing for 45 minutes and not even budging. I was expecting the hard part to be taking out the bolt but that thing popped right out. God damn. I heard of someone freezing the baffle with CO2 so it shrinks and comes out easier

    Hey Dan, I just got my ride yesterday
    Going to install the Akrapovic full system tomorrow
    Do you know the difference between the titanium 4 holes (the one you got) and the newer one with Carbon end?
    Sales said the Carbon end one is better, but I also heard some people said the Full titanium one is more heat resistance/ more durable?

    • @Englishbikerdan
      @Englishbikerdan  4 роки тому +2

      Hey, congrats on your purchase. The main difference is that the exhaust I have isn't CE approved for the CB650R. It was actually made for the CB650F. The newer one with the carbon tip is legally approved (Euro4) for the CB650R but I've heard the baffle is really hard to remove.

    • @magmafist
      @magmafist 4 роки тому

      Thanks for your quick response
      Yes, I understand yours was for the 650 F, the shop knows it fits the new 650 R as well. My main concern is about the durability
      I'm not removing the silencer though

    • @Englishbikerdan
      @Englishbikerdan  4 роки тому +1

      @@magmafist No worries, they will have both been tested exhaustively (see what I did there). I don't think you'll have any issues with the carbon tipped version and you have the added benefit that it is designed specifically for the 650R. That being said, I had no real issues with my exhaust and it sounds bonkers without the baffle.
