The allen screw in my Akrapovic on my CBR650R literally took no effort at all to unscrew. It was tack welded but it was the smallest tack and I cracked it free with one turn. Then it unscrewed all the way perfectly. I used EnglishBikerDan's technique of pushing a threaded rod up inside the DB killer and banged away at the back of it until it came free. Such a shame you had to go through that whole ordeal to get it out.
Yea it sucked taking it out the weld was pretty wide smh ummm I like the way it turned out and the deeper sound it now has plus the pops... oh oh and at high revs there is flames from time to time which looks cool at night from the side just saying
Hello friend! Did you install new gaskets for the new exhaust? Do you know the correct side of the gasket ring? I will change my exhaust, but Im not sure the correct side of this gasket ring. They have different shape in both sides. Thank you!
Yes yes the exhaust came with a set and the oem gasket I put aside with the oem exhaust.... vheck the packaging hopefully u didn't trash it yet it might be in the box or the exhaust itself..... sorry for getting to you late Cheers
@@jjmax2007 Thank you! Yeah I got them, I will install next week. Most people here in Brazil reuse the old OEM gaskets, but I don't think its a good idea, they smash completely in and take the shape of the old OEM pipe. Have a great evening and safe rides!
Yes yes it is I'm 6'2 and I fit pretty good but don't go by my sayings head over to the nearest dealer and throw a leg over a few different types to get a feel for the type of bike you may like. This is a great bike tho if your thinking of this one so many mods for it easy to learn on great on gas and style is just next level Cheers
Well they get dirt trap more due to filter oil which is way more sticky than the paper that comes with the bike..... since the filter install I clean the filter ever 800 miles sometimes less depending on the way and area I go
No ECU tune to compensate for the changes ? it's really worth getting, you are spending somewhere around 20% the cost of the exhaust system on a custom map and that custom map is what actually improves the throttle respons, improves power and ride. The exhaust is great looking, but really does nothing good for how the bike runs, besides sound ofc.
@@jjmax2007 oh cool, was a it a downloaded map or a custom made for your specific bike ? what kind of improvements did you notice ? better on/off throttle respons ?
Beautiful bike! I'm gonna buy it in the next months hopefully. I was wondering where did you get the black clutch and rear-brake pedals? I don't like the rubber stock ones! Thanks
Oh awesome welcome to the cbr650r life... umm I have e a playlist of all modifications on my channel and a video for the clutch and brake check them out the link is in the videos just like the link for the exhaust is for this video in the description
Just ordered mine today. I'm wondering if I'll be able to do the install as well. I'm wondering if I should install without the DB. Once installed do you think the DB can be removed? Also with the little hole in the exhaust does it have to be sealed back up or you can leave the hole there
Yea yea you can always take it out it's just you have to take the muffler off the bike in order to do so.... some may not like the task.... just saying. I would say try it with it in cause the way I took mine out I can not put mine back lol
@@jjmax2007 yea ill ride with it in, see what it sounds like. I'm sure it's much better than the stock exhaust. Please post up the difference when you get the power commander. I will be doing my exhaust install in about 2 weeks. Would love to know the difference with the proper tuning.
I also have install the akrapovic racing system on my cbr 650 f (2016) the sound now is amazing but i notice the bake is more lean and weak now when i’ m accelarating. I don’t know why, maybe i need to install a sport filter and rimap the ECU . Im happy but also disappointed.
hey how did u set the two orange leds to stay fixed ? In Europe those are blinking lights, did u modify them or do they come like that OEM because of US specs ?
Hey, why did you get rid of the CBR650R? I'm curious because I plan on getting the bike in the next couple of months. In your opinion, what's the pros and cons of the CBR650R?
Nothing is wrong with the bike I recommend the bike to anyone.... pros everything easy to work on is to get parts for easy to service 😌 great power and ease to ride cons maybe a weak front rim but that is for speed lol

@@jjmax2007 I came back to your video again because I wanted to see how you put those headers on. That must have been a nightmare. I upgraded mine after having it for 2 days last week, but my headers were a single unit (IXIL) which made it "easier" to install as I didn't have any of those springs on the headers. I do have the exhaust on the side, but I have to say that it looks and sounds very nice! Now after all the changes I made to it, I just have to put the first mile on it... ha ha ha. Servus from Bavaria and thanks!
Oh snap that's awesome glad to have helped with the video the spring was the one part I wish I knew going in cause I was fighting with the header then I was like no no no there has to be a better way and when I took off the header and installed one at a time the bolt would not go on and the spring stay in place so yea my struggles for ur smooth process
Tried loosening my radiator to get access to the headers. Removed bottom bolt no problem. Top bolts I thought there was two bolts but turned out to be only 1. The other bit is some kind of rubber grommet that doesn't have a bolt? Was your the same? I can't seem to loosen my radiator because of this grommet :S Thanks for video man.
@@povilaslondon ok the bolt on the top take it off, then take off the bolt on the bottom... right after that the radiator is now loose so all you have to do is tilt the radiator to the side of the grommet the whole thing should not come off it should just be loose enough to get the wrench behind the radiator your not trying to take off the radiator at all just loosen to make room.... cool?
It's only available in the US. European models don't have the option. You can tell because there are only 2 wires going to the indicators of the European version (I have a UK CBR650R). The US version has three wires which keeps them lit like daytime running lights. Contrary to this, the European CB650R has the indicators on all the time as it's the 'naked' version so provides more visibility.
My bike had no gasket I get this all the time and no there is no burnt smell ever unless I was doing 143 mph and can to a fast stop or rev at a stop light other than that no never smells Cheer
I'm not sure how to answer like that are you saying the side base on sotting on the bike or facing the front of the bike i always get confused when someone ask me sorry
@@jjmax2007 so do you first install the clutch lever side first or the brake lever side cause i managed to snap the little clip on the fairing that goes next to the headlight.
What do you mean with 'how much maintenance that high performance air filter requires'? Every how often do you have to clean it out using compressed air?
Ok so I would ride for 800 miles then have to clean cause of the filter oil this stuff is very sticky and will catch the smallest of dirt and build on that stuff so fast.... if your not careful this dirt and oil will build so much it can clog then there is a restriction of air cause the bike to idle funny or run hot..... i don't even way 800 miles I do it like 300 or 400 miles at the most.... just saying..... cheer and sorry for the delay

Yea it sucked taking it out the weld was pretty wide smh ummm I like the way it turned out and the deeper sound it now has plus the pops... oh oh and at high revs there is flames from time to time which looks cool at night from the side just saying
Hey fam I went to the website. How do you purchase, I dont see the option and did you purchase the catalytic converter from them as well?
Oh nice if u was not able u have to go to just dynojet.com
Hello friend! Did you install new gaskets for the new exhaust? Do you know the correct side of the gasket ring? I will change my exhaust, but Im not sure the correct side of this gasket ring. They have different shape in both sides. Thank you!
Yes yes the exhaust came with a set and the oem gasket I put aside with the oem exhaust.... vheck the packaging hopefully u didn't trash it yet it might be in the box or the exhaust itself..... sorry for getting to you late
Cheers
@@jjmax2007 Thank you! Yeah I got them, I will install next week. Most people here in Brazil reuse the old OEM gaskets, but I don't think its a good idea, they smash completely in and take the shape of the old OEM pipe. Have a great evening and safe rides!
Cheers
Great man i love your bike
Love from pakistan
Oh awesome thanks have u had a chance to check out the channel more videos there
@@jjmax2007 ye why not
Just came across your video. Is this bike comfortable? And will it be good for beginner?
Yes yes it is I'm 6'2 and I fit pretty good but don't go by my sayings head over to the nearest dealer and throw a leg over a few different types to get a feel for the type of bike you may like. This is a great bike tho if your thinking of this one so many mods for it easy to learn on great on gas and style is just next level
Cheers
@@jjmax2007 will do. I like the style of the bike and i look like it's fun to ride.
Hi there. What did you mean at the beginning when you said the aftermarket air intake requires more maintenance?
Well they get dirt trap more due to filter oil which is way more sticky than the paper that comes with the bike..... since the filter install I clean the filter ever 800 miles sometimes less depending on the way and area I go
Thanks bro for this video.. really helps.. i have cb650r and i need this tutorial of yours
Thanks means a lot
Beautiful machine with lovely sound 🥰
So so true
No ECU tune to compensate for the changes ? it's really worth getting, you are spending somewhere around 20% the cost of the exhaust system on a custom map and that custom map is what actually improves the throttle respons, improves power and ride. The exhaust is great looking, but really does nothing good for how the bike runs, besides sound ofc.
Oh snap.... I did get a tune for the bike tho afterwards
@@jjmax2007 oh cool, was a it a downloaded map or a custom made for your specific bike ? what kind of improvements did you notice ? better on/off throttle respons ?
Yes yes all around better the bike I feel changeds so much and it didn't feel like I was losing power mid range like it was bone stock
Cheers
no needed .
Great video! Thanks JJ. Greetings from Brasil.
Oh wow thanks... I hope you enjoy the many videos on the channel... and the direction of the bike. Brasil thats so cool!
Love it man
Did you tune it after the install and if you did where did you go? Im in the South florida area as well
4:37 anybody saw that bend wheel rim too
Yea yea its bent pretty bad smh I'm sad about it
What happened
Short version a buddy took it for a quick spin!! Smh first time on a sport bike I rather this than his life
Sad to see it, but it happens.
Yes yes...
You should have gone with arrow!
Sounds amazing..
I actually like the under body exhaust not the side mount but thanks for the tip
Beautiful bike! I'm gonna buy it in the next months hopefully. I was wondering where did you get the black clutch and rear-brake pedals? I don't like the rubber stock ones! Thanks
Oh awesome welcome to the cbr650r life... umm I have e a playlist of all modifications on my channel and a video for the clutch and brake check them out the link is in the videos just like the link for the exhaust is for this video in the description
honestly it sounded great!!
Awesome thanks
Just brought this bike today . I’m so in love, going to get this exhaust next year .
Oh yea.... thats awesome mang you going to love and enjoy the bike so much
@@jjmax2007 love the videos , going to do some similar mods.
Awesome that is great
You previously replaced the intake and now the exhaust. Did you re-map the ECU to adjust the fuel mixture?
Yes a power commander 5 is installed on the bike check out the full playlist
Just ordered mine today. I'm wondering if I'll be able to do the install as well. I'm wondering if I should install without the DB. Once installed do you think the DB can be removed? Also with the little hole in the exhaust does it have to be sealed back up or you can leave the hole there
Same bike by the way
Yea yea you can always take it out it's just you have to take the muffler off the bike in order to do so.... some may not like the task.... just saying. I would say try it with it in cause the way I took mine out I can not put mine back lol
Oh oh awesome I know ur gonna like the bike...
@@jjmax2007 yea ill ride with it in, see what it sounds like. I'm sure it's much better than the stock exhaust. Please post up the difference when you get the power commander. I will be doing my exhaust install in about 2 weeks. Would love to know the difference with the proper tuning.
Yea yea I plan on doing on soon stay tune to my channel for that video... cheers
I also have install the akrapovic racing system on my cbr 650 f (2016) the sound now is amazing but i notice the bake is more lean and weak now when i’ m accelarating. I don’t know why, maybe i need to install a sport filter and rimap the ECU . Im happy but also disappointed.
Oh nooooo..... umm I'm not sure with the f model bikes I know my bike is a different bike with the exhaust just amazing......
good job and sound is very cool
Thank you thanks a bunch
Stock exhaust sounds like someone is cutting trees down
Lol so true
beastly
Yup and quick on throttle
Amazing bike!
Thanks means alot trying to keep it different
MONSTER !
agreed in every way power, sound, looks, and style yeah!!!
good DIY bro...
Thanks I try i really do
hey how did u set the two orange leds to stay fixed ? In Europe those are blinking lights, did u modify them or do they come like that OEM because of US specs ?
They come oem due to US guide lines.....
Cheers
Hey jjmax, if i put on this exhause do i have to ecu flash it ? Or just leave it be ? Im looking foward to your answer
If u put any exhaust I recommend some type of turning to the bike either power commander or ecu flash the air flow is different
where did u buy that fuel tank protectors? i need them pls!!!! Nice video

Dude i searshed everywhere on akrapovic for an exhaust that would fit my 2023 cbr650r, which one did you buy exactly
Revzilla the 2022 yr still bolts up
Cheers
Hey do you know if it still fits on the 24 model year?
@abdinurmohamed4288 sorry I do not know
Hey, why did you get rid of the CBR650R? I'm curious because I plan on getting the bike in the next couple of months. In your opinion, what's the pros and cons of the CBR650R?
Nothing is wrong with the bike I recommend the bike to anyone.... pros everything easy to work on is to get parts for easy to service 😌 great power and ease to ride cons maybe a weak front rim but that is for speed lol
Can you please explain a bit more on how to make the radiator lean forward? Remove the one at the bottom and what happen to the others?
Oh no no no I ended up having to remove both top and bottom to fit the bolts....
@@jjmax2007 Thank you for replying. I think there are three bolts that holds the radiator right? So just remove those bolts then I be able to make a gap to fit the header bolts?
Yes yes 3 bolts in total then there is plenty of room to remove the header... I used zip ties to hold the radiator away and too the header down
Nice bike bro! I am changing my exhaust as well and the only thing im trying to figure out is how to disconnect the 02 sensor from the Harness. Is there some kind of a clip i have to lift or push on? Your answer will be helpful.
Oh wow I'm so delayed getting to you sorry... yea there is a clip you push on next to the shfter to disconnect the oem o2 sensor... umm ur plan ing to put a auto tune on your bike ??? If your planning to take off the o2 the ecu is going to give you a check engine light.... just saying
JJMAX2007 its ok bro. No i was just changing to a full exhaust and cant figure out how to detach it at first.but its all good now. Next project now will be power commander v and your video was really helpful. I just need to save first to be able to purchase the item.. :)
@@joelfabugais5760 awesome it took me some time to get the money up to get the P.C.V. but once you install it you will see the level of power increase by big numbers lol

I have e a venom stand from amazon not sure if its available where you are located

I can dig it!
lol it's really awesome right ?
I have same system on mine. Sounds epic and yes had the same issues with baffle retaining bolt being spot welded on :(
That do killer bolt kick my face in.... gee were u able to take yours out easy or have a fight like me ??
@@jjmax2007 managed to heat it up with tip of a soldering iron. Whack a socket in hard then pray that it went with a ratchet and i was lucky.
Wow I didn't think of that and I have a soldering iron smh just wow
Hey JJMAX! I got the same bike and same full system and today I decided to take out the baffler, which I have failed to finish. You mentioned using curved jaw pliers and bang the crap out of it, where on the pilers did you bang it on? how long did that take you? please help!!
Oh wow it was about 15 mins and I had to use a hammer and flat head also to pry it out
@@jjmax2007 thanks for the reply, i gave up that night and soaked the DB killer with wd40, the next day I went and got a locking plier and hammered it just like you said, came out with no problem! thank you!!

Cheers
What! You have bent rim at 4:34. Man that’s dangerous
Yes yes it is I have repaired it when I replaced the tires I have much new content to upload soon
Did you replace your gasket new one?
so many people ask this question I did not have a gasket on this one and I do not know why there is no gasket but I did not change or remove or replace a gasket
Hey, where did you get those tank pads? i especially mean the side tank pads. Can you link them please? im looking for those!
Yes check out my channel I have the link in the video called tank grips and phone holders
ua-cam.com/video/X08KAoJmPIw/v-deo.html
After the air filter and exhaust what have you been able to top out at all I got so far is the exhaust and before i could hit 140 and after 150
Oh yes yea I have a dyno video coming soon stay tune for that and I also have a top speed run sort of well on the visor install video I got a top speed of I think 139 or 141 I dont remember the video and those speed I dont want to look down but after the exhaust install I feel hear and see a difference in speed and power.... once the bike is tuned or refreshed OMG watch out, watch out, watch out!!!! Lol
oh.... my ㅠㅠ good bro~~~~!!
Tha ks means alot
Same bike same exhaust 👌 I had to ez out that fastener for the baffle.
Yes yes but the bolt is welded dont forget
@@jjmax2007 yes. That’s why I used an ez out
Awesome 👌
Do you have a reason why you chose the Akrapovic exhaust over other exhaust types? For example SC project or the Austin racing exhaust.
Yes yes I choose this one cause I wanted to keep the same style as the OEM look and not the side mounted can if the bike did not come that way.....
What wrench you got? possible links to that wrench or any good ones? Also the part that fits on the wrench that is used to unscrew the bolts
I ended up using a grind bit to remove the welded bolt and as you see in the video a small hammer and pliers to get the DB killer out...
@@jjmax2007 oh I was talking about not this in this video specific but in general for your maintenance work
@@ObtecularPk sorry for the delay but the set i have is craftsman if you have this in your town great set
Tried loosening my radiator to get access to the headers. Removed bottom bolt no problem. Top bolts I thought there was two bolts but turned out to be only 1. The other bit is some kind of rubber grommet that doesn't have a bolt? Was your the same? I can't seem to loosen my radiator because of this grommet :S
Thanks for video man.
Yea yes only one bolt at the top... i just puts to the side of grommet and it comes loose
@@jjmax2007 can you explain better? I'm having the same problem
@@povilaslondon ok the bolt on the top take it off, then take off the bolt on the bottom... right after that the radiator is now loose so all you have to do is tilt the radiator to the side of the grommet the whole thing should not come off it should just be loose enough to get the wrench behind the radiator your not trying to take off the radiator at all just loosen to make room.... cool?
Just a question, how did you got your indicators to be lit all the time? I really want this for my CBR650R. Thank you
It's only available in the US.
Oh wow I did not know this tha is for the tip.... cheers from the U. S. by the way
Awesome thanks
Did you change the gasket manifold? And does it smell burnt when you start it?
My bike had no gasket I get this all the time and no there is no burnt smell ever unless I was doing 143 mph and can to a fast stop or rev at a stop light other than that no never smells
Cheer
so about installing the fairing back do you instal the left side first then do the right or you can do anyside first?
I'm not sure how to answer like that are you saying the side base on sotting on the bike or facing the front of the bike i always get confused when someone ask me sorry
@@jjmax2007 so do you first install the clutch lever side first or the brake lever side cause i managed to snap the little clip on the fairing that goes next to the headlight.
Yes yes 👍 and with the fairings you have to be gentle like really really gentle... the plastics are fragile ..
What do you mean with 'how much maintenance that high performance air filter requires'? Every how often do you have to clean it out using compressed air?
Lol oh snap
@@jjmax2007 What exactly do you mean? :p
Hi Brother. WhaT IS THE PERFORMANCE GAIN YOU GOT? nd how much weight did the bike loose?
The weight lost is In the video 11 pounds from stock with just exhaust and the next video I did a dyno and it is reading 92 hp at the wheel.....
@@jjmax2007 that's 12 bhp up - that is worth doing1
Yes yes I think so and the torque is insane also
