Four kings, a great era in boxing
This is two of the greatest boxers in history getting in a ring having a fist fight. This fight will never be forgotten.
Do you remember Vite Antofitmo? He and Marvin had a couple of wars.
First round wasn't boxing, that was a fight. Legendary match. RIP to the legend Hagler, the MW GOAT.
Nonstop punches, about 300, big bombs too.
💯💯💯💯💯💯✔
GOAT.. after Sugar Ray Robinson
Aquí se nota que Richard Steele, siempre protegían los boxeadores, si lo deja continuar, lo hubieran lastimado aún mas
years later I still like watching this fight over and over.
Greatest round EVER in the history of the sport. We will NEVER see this again.
2 legendary champions
You've evidently never seen the Gatti-Ward fights.
@@ardradiva never heard of them
@@ardradiva Those were wars.. But Gatti and ward are not on the same level as Tommy and Marvin

I can ad that this fight is one of the best of all time.
@@bonysminiatures3123 danm, you must watch their fights.
Marvin Hagler is an all timer and I don't think he's mentioned enough among the greatest , love his style his warrior mentality just a beast .
I have Hagler in the top 3 or 4 of middleweights, which is saying something, considering the history of that division.
Marvelous Marvin Haggler! This must have been his sweetest victory. The real warriors of the game. Rest in peace
Imparável.
Why couldn't he do that with Sugar Ray Leonard
Sugar ficou o tempo todo pulando na frente dele...
He was on his last legs in April of 87. Remember he had the War with John the beast Mugabe in November of 86. Both men were urinating blood after the fight!!!
@@robertrodriguez787 same question I've had: why did MMH fight so aggressively against Hearns, but even when he caught SRL with a good shot, he never really pounced with any kind of aggression.
I have never seen a fighter as loyal as Hagler. He was with the Petronellis from the first day he stepped into a boxing gym as a teenager until his last professional boxing match. The Man, The Myth, The Legend.
Mica tanto leale.. tutti si stancavano...lui no .fatti una domanda.. qua stava perdendo .col naso rotto..andava avanti..è non si stancava... non era normale...COCAINA

Right, and even Ray Leonard fired Angelo Dundee. 10:55
The best fight in the history of boxing. No feeling each other out, a straight up rumble from beginning to.
Probably the best first 3 rounds but I still take Foreman v Lyle for an entire fight, plus they were heavyweights
Warrr
I agree, straight up rumble from the beginning
Yes it was > No BS just primal fighting !!!!
@@DW-nb2zc That fight was only 5 rounds. Not sure why u call it full fight.
I came here after Erol Spence was demolished to see a truly competitive fight. Hearn’s death stare was a prediction of some banging fireworks. And Hagler’s glare after round one. Wow! This is what happens when 2 immovable objects meet, a spectacular boxing battle of the ages that people speak about for decades! To truly watch this video is a gift by these 2 warriors.
Hagler is one of my favorite fighters never stepped backwards. Relentless aggression. Nonstop cardio and a iron chin he was a complete fighter rip legend
He did against hearns
In the first 30 second of the right. Watch it carefully
The uppercut, and straight clean hook Hearns landed in the first 20 seconds at minimum knocks down almost anyone, and probably knocks them out. Go watch the HBO documentary on this fight. Hearns literally says. “I hit him with everything, and couldn’t believe he kept coming forward” That’s Marvin Hagler. Oh, and Hagler was definitely stunned by those punches. What’s more impressive, is how quickly he recovered. He just wasn’t normal. Built different.
@@Jbf-76 Did you see that uppercut Mugabi caught Hagler with, that woulda knocked the average dude out, but Hagler just shook it off and kept moving forward.............a granite chin.
@@adamadam-tp6hh Yup 4rth round. Mugabi said that punch would have woken the dead, and it shocked him Hagler kept coming forward.
They don't make em like this anymore. Great fight! Can really feel the tension between these two. Brutal!
These two legends were made for each other, pure war.
Nop
Unequivocally the greatest 3+ rounds in boxing history. If you don't think so, just stop watching boxing. My god it never gets old. I still have the same reaction like it's live.
The thing about Marvin was he wasn’t afraid to get hit. He just came forward…relentless. Not many men in this sport are willing to do such a thing.
Hearns semplicemente non aveva paura di essere colpito perché non capiva più nulla dopo i colpi presi già in precedenza
These were the kind of fights we wanted to pay for to watch, nowadays it's more show than fight. Marvin vs Herns what a fight!!!
@@elliotguerro7612 correct now its all show and no real go.....not like these guys!!!
Not many people had MMH's chin.
Hearns was a warrior with a big heart but lacked Haglers durability.
A physical flaw but nothing wrong with the hit man's bottle.
Hagler is the toughest middleweight I've ever seen, he was terrifying
@@larryjenkinson4789Marvin Hagler is one of the toughest fighters EVER
After 37 years, this fight never get old. Simply the best fight ever. The ending to this great fight was a superman punch by the marvelous.
Marvin was a true professional. Was never out of shape, never underestimated his opponents and was always ready to fight. I was lucky enough to follow his entire career as it unfolded. RIP Champ.
One of the greatest fights of all time.A great era as well.Hagler,Hearns,Leonard and Duran.Four absolute Warriors.
the best fighter EVER to come from Brockton, Massachusets -.-
0ⁿⁿⁿⁿⁿⁿⁿⁿⁿⁿⁿ00ⁿ
One Tough Brother 💯🙌🏾
You're wrong he did underestimate an opponent in Sugar Ray Leonard.. And that is why Leonard beat him. Hagler was telling everybody that the fight wouldn't go the distance and he would knock ray Leonard out it didn't happen this matter of fact Leonard hurt haggler a couple of times. And yes Leonard did when. After being out of boxing for 5 years you would think hagler would've put up a better fight but I guarantee you it was up for grabs even with Leonard being out of boxing for 5 years. Has Leonard fought him in his prime he would have won decisively in 15 rounds
That first round will never be beaten.
I doubt there’ll be any more fights like this from 2 of the greatest ever in the history of boxing. Magnificent performance right from the start by these 2 legends. Just unbelievably spectacular.
MUY BUENA PELEA
MIS FELICITACIONES Y BENDICIONES
A ESTOS MAS GRANDES BOXEADORES
DE TODA LA HISTORIA
Where I lived then, you couldn't hear any vehicles on the road when these guys boxed, haggler, hearts, sugar ray, Duran. I see as the most entertaining era of boxing.
Marvin was like The Terminator in his fights. No matter how many times he got hit, he just kept coming at you in that methodical stalking pace of his.
yes i saw him take uppercuts from John Mugabi that would have decimated any other fighter but hagler just kept coming on like he felt no pain
@@ruthryan9173 : even though I was a big Sugar Ray L. fan, I always appreciated the warrior that Marvin was. Just two different types of fighters, and each at the top of the latter at what they did best. Marvin was a tough as nails RAM pickup truck that never turned its engine off, while SRL was a fine tuned Ferrari.
I guess Tommy was a bit of both. A powerful puncher, who could also box you. Oh, I miss the good old days of the boxing sport. Even got me thinking of Roy Jones Jr, and Sweet Pee Whitaker… etc. Real mechanics!
@@blake9747 Yes I was a sugar Ray Fan but Hearns to me was the one fight sugar ray would always struggle against. Simply unable to outbox hearns and you just always felt if they fought 10 times sugar would struggle in all 10 fights. Credit to him for the 14th round stoppage. As for their 2nd fight the result was a travesty.
As Hagler said he was gonna eat him up like pacman
Hearns was something else, his career…all round … Just Wonderful, ..
Marvin Hagler won. Where’s his credit??
@@potentially__9445 I know Lorraine's comment was bizarre.

Absolutely, you called it!!
absolutely ... they were truly brilliant ... perhaps greater than their ability to punch was their ability to receive ... well beyond "human tough"
Yeah me too, they're both great. Funnily enough at the time I really disliked Thomas Hearns I can't remember why. I really wanted Marvin to win. If anything now I'm more of a Hitman Hearns fan. Love them both. RIP Marvelous.

I remember watching this live, or, as soon as it was televised. It was so much more impressive when you weren’t aware of what happens. After watching so many hyped up fights that did not live up to it’s reputation as the warriors danced around for 5 rounds “feeling each other out”; this was a shocker. I was out of my seat screaming “holy shit” as these great fighters gave us a street fight, i.e. a very skilled one. The greatest first found in boxing history.
Greatest three rounds in boxing history.

What a fight, what an era!
I doubt we will ever see the equals of Duran, Hagler, Leonard and Hearns again. I consider myself lucky to have been around at the time to witness them.
Leonard doesn’t belong in that list. Dodging anyone in their prime and running doesn’t get you into a conversation with giants
This fight gets better each decade.
Rip to one of our all-time greats, in my opinion, the greatest middleweight ever!

Haglers ability to throw hard punches with both hands and keep fighters wondering was such an advantage. This is one of the greatest fights all-time. Edge of seat the whole fight. Two of boxing’s all time greats ! Hearts couldn’t keep up with Marvins pace in this one and the marvelous one chopped him down like a tree!!
I remember RUNNING to get beers from the kitchen between rounds- Holy cow! We could not believe the pace! Warriors in the ring. Gentlemen outside the ring. The sport had no finer examples of giving all one could. God bless...
Great quality video man. I've watched this fight countless times, but with this video I was able to see the fight clearer than I have for years, thanks.
Marvin Hagler was feared. Many opponents purposely avoided fighting him. He should have gotten a title shot much sooner in his career. No fighter trained harder and was more patient to get a title shot. Outside the ring he was a true gentleman. Very professional and an absolute iconic champion.
Maybe pound for pound one of the best. This era may have been the most collectively talented in the history of pugilism.
Italian Hagler fan here. Remembered I woke up early just for this performance. I wasn't disappointed!!
The best fight ever and I remember watching it back in the day. Thanks for uploading so that I can enjoy it again, over and over.
1:45 The match is so intense even the referee plays shadow boxing for a while.
The referee has got to b a legend. He did a dope ass job n a fight like this. He let them work but was very observing and step n when needed. Love it
Incredibly fit, too. He bounces around effortlessly.
Every so often I watch this, and share it with younger fight fans.....I loved Hagler....This is a war...thx for posting it!
Nunca te olvidaremos maravilloso Marvin
We need to recognize how well Sugar Ray Leonard commentated ringside. Mind you, this is during the peak of his own career. And was able to give great objective real-time analysis regarding two of his own most fierce competitors. That's great professionalism and humility. #Salute
Most profound statement he made to me was "Tommie can't take much more of this".
@@skinnyman1434 Hagler was a bully. Made his name by fighting blown-up little guys like Duran 135, Hearns 147, Leonard 147 and Mugabi 154. What a fight. My favourite 3. Rounds middleweight ever. After watching Hagler take ALAN MINTER apart, Hagler was unstoppable, so accurate, powerfully, that southpaw stance. I was only a kid in my early teens ,but I could see he was special. Boxing was great around this time . The four kings they called them later. No messing around. They just booked the ring and fought each other . It was magic, what a time for boxing. Hagler ,HEARNS, Leonard and Duran . That’s when boxing was boxing. Pretty sad what’s happened since.
that for sure mma took over boxing

I wouldn't call all that sad. Put yourself in a boxers shoes. They get exploited and put their lives on the line. So if you could get good money 💰 without fighting the top, you would do it too.
Nothing equalled those days and nothing ever will. Sugar was my king

Legendary!! Don’t see fights like this anymore!! Marvelous tough as nails!!
Hagler couldn't do it without hearns an hearns couldn't do it without Hagler as these 2 legends needed each other to bring out the very best of the both of them.
Still the best opening round in boxing history!
I love ALMOST everything about this fight. The only thing is this, Hearns broke his right hand in the middle of the first round. Before that Hearns was trading bombs with Hagler. After that you see Hearns immediately start boxing instead of standing toe to toe with Hagler. Imagine the brawl we would have been treated to if Hearns doesn't sustain that injury!!!
The outcome may have been totally different, as well. Hearns wanted a rematch for years, but never got one. Hagler ducked nobody, but I never heard him wanting a rematch with Hearns, but I did hear Hearns repeatedly asking Hagler for one. For whatever reason, it never happened.
@@milojanis4901 Interesting. I always wondered why this wasn't Hearns vs Hagler I? I would think that a smart man like Marvin realized that the ferocity of the first match would be doubled by Hearns in any rematch and decided that wars like that only shorten a fighter's career and life, to be quite honest.

After years of struggling for proper recognition, this fight, and that iconic superman punch, turned Hagler overnight into the all-time great that he, who legally changed his name to "Marvelous", always knew he was... at his best he was a switch-hitting brick wall, conditioned for 15 nightmare rounds with an all-time iron chin and the look of Ming the Merciless... guy was superhero good and everything a fighter should be-----RIP great champion. BTW, all props to Hearns, it takes two to tango as they say, and Hearns did everything he could to try to win... but he was badly hurt a minute-and-a-half in... and on this night, against this guy, for whom destiny was calling.... it wasn't happening... not many middleweights in history were doing much with Marv on that night... he fought like a man possessed.
