Leonard here shows superior speed, accuracy, defense, timing, ring generalship.
If Hagler hit harder as a middleweight in this position he would have take care of a little welterweight.
I doubt Leonard beats Jake Lamotta, Frank Klaus, Stanley Ketchel the more aggressive harder hitting guys.
I think Haglers boxing ability and punching power are both overrated. He was maybe the toughest mw next to Lamotta but agood middleweight is supposed to destroy a welterweight not get dominated by one.

    • @wolfgameing2377

The judges decide who wins a round by the catergories of .. ring generalship, effective aggressiveness, defense and clean punches. Two judges had it a little closer. Remember judging is opinion . By round most fans and judges had the fight 7-5 or 8-4 some fans Seoul’s have called it a draw . We could of had a trilogy with Ray and Hagler🥊🥊🥊

If Leonard threw a 6 punch combination and landed 1 clean punch, the crowd went crazy and obviously his score went up, however the fact is this. Apart from the fact that Haggler should never have agreed to Leonards demands for a bigger ring than the standard size and bigger gloves than the standard size, so Leonard could run away from Haggler and Haggler would find it more difficult to hurt Leonard with the bigger gloves. Haggler should have never agreed to the fight when Leonard ran away from Haggler when they were both in their prime and refused to fight Haggler

Never tire of this. A classic of the ages. Leonard like the matador to the bull. Proving boxing is about movement, being smart, defence and counter offence. He approached this the way Bruce Lee wòuld have if he was a boxer. The art of boxing. Well thats my view but the opposing view is he run and stole the fight! 😂 Hagler was one dimensional in this fight plodding forward throwing the same punches hoping he would grind down Leonard and knock him out but he fell into the trap.

If you favoured Hagler in those you give the fight 7-5 for Hagler. If you favoured Leonard in close rounds you give it to him.

Marvelous Marvin is my favorite fighter of all time and the greatest middleweight in my lifetime. I’ve watched this fight multiple times and can’t get away from the fact that Marvin gave away the first four rounds and Leonard won the tactical game by stealing close rounds by throwing combinations at the end of them and impressing the judges. The fight was lost before the first bell by Hagler when he caved to Leonard’s demands for the 12 rounds, larger ring and gloves. Had It gone 15 rounds, Hagler would have knocked Ray out because he was gassed after 12 and Marvin was coming on. RIP Marvelous Marvin Hagler.
