I find Mechu-deru to be an odd forbidden ability. Mostly because, while considered dark side in nature, it doesn’t really seem to be inherently dark side. Or, I guess I should say, it seems like there could or should be a way to practice mechu-deru that is more light-side oriented.
That seemed to be what he was alluding to with the either meditation, with using it to keep someone alive while awaiting medical care, or to be able to survive a particularly prolonged survival situation. Luke used it in an EU novel when (if I remember correctly) he had to travel a prolonged amount of time in his X-wing (either because the trip had to be sub-light or because it was just that far (I can't remember which. My understanding was that Dark Side nature came from it being forcibly applied to slow the processes of another - thus killing them in an excruciating fashion.
Mechu deru was a dark side power not because it made its user a really good mechanic (although it did do that), but because it allowed for the creation of horrific cybernetic abominations. However, it wasn't strictly banned; some Jedi did employ it.
I belive what you are reffering is Mechu Deru Vitiate - an dark side evolution of an abillity neutral in its nature. I think even jedi in technical devision of jedi temple used it. That orogonal mechu deru was just used to beter understand and communicate/modify technology. At least thats what i remmember.
The first 2 sound like the same thing to me. I think a more interesting thing would be to be able to concentrate force push in a small point to do a piercing attack.

Force repulse I still think is the most powerful force ability since it is capable of decimating any enemy in the blast radius the best example of course is star killer using it
A thing worth mentioning is that when employed properly, Force Lightning doesn't just damage the body - it drains and wounds the life force of the victim as well. Few Sith Lords are capable of employing it to this extent, but Palpatine was most definitely one of them. It took Luke a long time of rest and meditation in Force trances to restore the damage to his body, mind, and spirit that he endured from Palpatine torturing him with more and more intense blasts of Force Lightning on the second Death Star.
I wasn’t actually expecting force scream to be what Palpatine was doing while leaping over the table. I actually thought they were gonna use the now infamous, “Noooooooo!” 😂
luke skywalker in legends said the same, comparing them to tools or instruments that you can use and what really matters is the intent or path you walk.
In Dark Forces 2 you could pick a mix of both, but it wouldn't let you get the most powerful abilities of each as it was tied to your alignment. I liked it better than just giving you all powers of both disciplines in the later JK games, which was pretty confusing when you just get all these random sith powers in JK2.
Well they are just my own home brew powers that I originally made for star wars DnD, but recently ive been trying to practice drawing/illustrating so I can try to make a fan comic; but I have come up with the following uses for the force that should theoretically be possible in canon: (most are really OP, so they'd need to be limited somehow in a story or bad-guy powers) 1. Force disintegrate - wave/shockwave that blows apart a target on a molecular level (watched Starkiller do something similar once) 2. Force stab - basically just standard force push but its concentrated to a fine point so it can punch a hole in a target. (I thought it would also be really cool if the user held their lightsaber/melee weapon out and used it as sort of a catalyst/focus point for the power) 3. Force Tornado/Hurricane - Sorta all in the name there, use the force to create a literal giant rotating windstorm to destroy large areas or provide cover for escapes and such. 4. Force illusion/mirage - use the force to "project" illusions in a certain area. 5. Natural Abundance - Control plants basically. So you could do something simple like help grow a garden or go extreme and make tree roots rip people to pieces. (I have a concept for these sorta Jedi "Druid/Shaman" that go around remote parts of the galaxy and try to help create, restore, and/or maintain flaura and natural habitats/ecosystems on any planet they come to) My favorite force power out of what's listed here is Force Plague. I have a KOTOR 2 build entirely based around it 😅
All of these sound amazing, so I think the best balancing factors would be; Make them exceptionally hard to master Make them really draining to the the user Or make them very situational somehow
@@isaiaholaru5013 oh yeah, that's why I just have a basic concept for them, unless the story is a power fantasy that has a ludicrously overpowered main character(s), there would have to be something to balance things out. The disintegrate and plant abilities both have conceptual backlash that I have notes for. Force Disintegrate - The wielders of that power have to actually focus on dismantling a target at a molecular/atomic level. On a small scale, say a single person, or part of a ship hull, or a giant boulder; the backlash from messing up the ability would cause it to essentially backfire and the disintegrating effect would fling back at the caster. They'd have just an instant to do something to stop it from happening, if not, then their arm or at least hand may get torn apart. Then on the large scale, say trying to disintegrate an entire star destroyer, a building, a mountain, an asteroid, a moon, or even a planet; first off, that level of power would have to take multiple casters working together or an extremely powerful individual (Yoda, Windu, Palpatine, Anakin, Revan, Meetra Surik, Nihlus, Vitiate, the Outlander, etc). But when pulling that much destructive power together, if the caster(s) screw it up, it could potentially cause a chain reaction that could spawn a small/temporary gravity well that destroys them and everything around them. Natural Abundance - To use that power in any form, the force user is using the light side of the force mostly, and they are actually tapping into the 'Life Essence' of various Flora. If they want to make things grow or move, that costs more of that essence, so they have to get it from somewhere. What it boils down to is, to even begin working with that power, the user has to understand the concept of the 'Life Drain' force ability, and then they have to reverse it, so they give their life energy to whatever plant it happens to be. Which sounds weak because basically the user is gonna make themselves weak in exchange for growing a garden in seconds instead of weeks/months, but it depends on the user as some have more energy to give away. HOWEVER, mastery of that ability allows the caster to draw on pure energy from the force itself, converting it into a usable state for the plants. It's one of those obscure powers that is so weak to start with that no one would ever think to use it in combat, but give it to say... Yoda? Give him 5 years to master it, and he can potentially alter the entire surface of a planet in a matter of seconds. Imagine him landing on tatooine and then he just slaps his hands on the ground, closes his eyes, and the entirety of every inch of desert you can see in front of you suddenly starts to darken, then a second or two later, weeds, grass, vines, roots, and entire trees start to spring up. That's an extreme example, but they are my concepts and I love them. Hopefully that helps to make them sound a bit better, I welcome any ideas you or anyone else might come up with. Seriously even if you think it's dumb or embarrassing, I live and breathe that kinda stuff so feel free to throw anything you got at me and I'll see if I can figure out a way to work it in or make something entirely new with it. While typing this I had an idea for a power that would let you channel hyperspace energy into regular space itself and start altering entire star-systems. I think that should be a power that requires 20,000+ midichlorians to even begin to use. So Palpatine, Yoda, and Anakin would be the only current people. Vitiate and maybe Revan could too. Legends Luke could for sure.
if I recall starkiller build up and stored an extremely dangerous amount of energy from his force lightning before discharging it around him at this last possible second which if done even a tiny bit wrong would destroy him
@randymarshislorde since you welcome an ideas here is mine: Shadows masquerade - manipulate opponent's senses to make caster disappear. Target can't see, hear or smell caster, also regarding the presence in the Force it appears as caster is everywhere and nowhere at the same time. Further more with prolonged effect caster may force the target to see or hear whatever caster wants. To initiate the ability caster should do some distraction, like spinning his lightsaber very fast, or producing sparks with said lightsaber, or throwing something big in opponent, just split second of concentration switch is enough. Drawback is target should be in caster's direct line of sight all the time, so caster can't hide or run away. Ability affinity is dark side. Counter is light side combat meditation of highest grade. Crushing darkness - area of effect ability, increase gravity around caster twofold. Can be casted consecutively, with each time increasing effect twofold, so it like 2-4-8-16-etc progression. If target moves under effect there is risk of international injuries, also it affects target blood circulation and breathing, like at high g overload. Drawback is caster can't use other Force abilities while this one is active, and can't move fast. Ability affinity is dark side. Counter is target's endurance and ability to buff himself with Force. Would be cool if you find use of these, as I have none.
In the obscure extended universe, there was "dark seeing" i belive. It was a exclusive power of sorcerers of thule (coreect me if i mistake them for other sorcerers again) and what i understand it was force augury with (propapbly limited) power to alter the future. I think Mind domination could be used to control the minds of Sith or servants of Sith to get information. P.S Could you do one breaking down the different speices?
Force Kill - Jedi don’t kill people quickly using the force. They slice them up and leave them to die….slowly….in agony….near a lava field….or with a laser sword in general
Darth Bane learned and used a forbidden technique that transferred ones psyche (or soul) in its entirety into another unwilling subject and utterly destroyed the victims psyche (or soul) in the process, letting the user steal a new body whenever they wanted or needed. Other than Darth Nihilus’ technique that drained the life of entire worlds at a time, I think this one was the most heinous and forbidden in the Jedi’s eyes.
to be fair, force crush is only forbidden on living beings, I also wish to point out force storm for its devastating power and ability to reach across the galaxy, though not a forbidden force ability, I suspect that is because the Jedi council never knew of it. I suspect it is also one of few abilities that would actually make a death sentence likely as the jedi didn't seem to like execution much.
There is also a variant of force scream call force below, which was used by Darth Plagueis. It was basically a force scream except it sounded more a deep, low pitched roar, which could burst the ear drums of an opponent causing severe pain or death, depending on the radius. We see this first hand when Plagueis was nearly killed by Maladian assassins and he let out a force below to defend himself due to him being in public and not having his lightsaber.
There's a strong argument for most, if not all, powers being acceptable depending on the user and method. One could argue that you could do a force shout fueled by strong feelings of justice, and that it would be preferable to minorly traumatize an opponent than to disable them via injury. We need more grey jedi stories/games.
I find it interesting that in the old republic MMO the Jedi are technically more relaxed on some rules. I mean technically speaking the inclusion of variations on force drain exists in the Jedi Consular class for the sake of game mechanics, but if you consider it's role in the game, the Jedi at the time didn't have inherent opposition to draining the life of an enemy in order to heal yourself or an ally. Both Consular classes have the ability force in balance which heals the user after doing damage, the balance consular has additional abilities with the same effect. And the Seer (healer subclass) has access to an ability that damages an enemy, which then absorbs health and gives it to the closet ally with the lowest health percentage. For the sake of headcannon, the Jedi at that time believed it was acceptable if used for the purpose of healing, as opposed to simply draining another persons life or using it to gain more power like Darth Nihilus. Furthermore, there is therefore a light side variation of force drain, for this purpose.
Lord Vitiate, the Sith Emperor who is known for achieving his immortality through a form of Essence Transfer was also a master of Mind Domination as he could control armies at the time, even Jedi by overwhelming them with his power.
I've got a gammorian Jedi in my star wars saga edition game that took force scream power. Basically take the talent many shades of the force it basically giving you one free dark side power to be used as a light side power without any negative effects. Just imagine a high shrill pig scream x 100.
In Star wars:legacy .cade Skywalker healed with a form of force lighting. That's my favorite forbidden force power. Also missing is the use of the force to super nova suns. As exur kun ,did this too two suns destroying many planets in the wake of the supernova explosion
Think there is one you missed, it comes in I believe book 1 or 2 of the Legends Jedi academy series. IN this scene, Gantoris is killed for refusing to go to the dark side, by Exar Kun. I think the ability sort of cooks him from the inside out. It could be force lightning I guess but it always seemed a lot more brutal to me than this.
I’d personally liked Essence Transfer. I’d say it’s one of the darkest force abilities out there. The Sith Emperor Vitiate used it multiple times through history and used it to sustain himself for a thousand years. He turned his homeworld into a barren wasteland that was a wound a in the force. Built two of the strongest empires in history. He was the one who was behind Revan and Malek’s quest for the starforge. Among his many experiments there is a device called the Ravager that eats a victim’s mind forcing them to tell all they know that you ask, however the victims do not last very long before they die. His own father didn’t believe he had a bastard son but severely misunderstood how powerful he was, as Tenebrae (Vitiate) trapped his father’s soul in a sith holocron. (Disclaimer most of this comes from the Novels, kotor video games, and Star Wars the old Republic)
That move was an absolute menace, along with the Strong style 1 hit kill leaping attack. So many frags on the Bespin Streets server from spamming those
You forgot about the force Newton testicle cradle.... When a sith or a Jedi would use the force to control their opponents left and right testicles to swing back and forth smashing into each other like a Newton's cradle.
As someone who loves both Star Wars and Dragon Ball Z and Fusion. I would try and develop a force ability called “Force Ghost Kamikaze”💙💚♥️🖤 Just imagine the possibility given how Force Ghosts can come from anywhere! Including Force Spirit Fission on top of as well as Instant Force Transmission!…

5:50 electric judgment was not "non-lethal". it had the same ability to kill as regular force lightning and luke even used it to instantly kill some Yuuzhan Vong slayers at one point. what made it different was that it came from a sense of judgment/justice rather than a feeling of anger/rage.
There was a force net power that could functionally resident evil laser net a person. Pretty sure it was used in the Yuzhan vong era by some dark Jedi types.
We need starkillers ball of force lighting ability cause its just amazing. And also the fact that he can use force lighting on his arm and have an insanely powerful punch.
The craziest thing to me about Star Wars... is that the stuff that isn't shown on screens is a million times more interesting than most of the shows or movies. The most "out there" bad guy we ever got was Darth Maul. Some of these guys make him look like a puppy. We get Darth Vader. I want Darth Bane type villians.
When i first saw revenge of the sith i thought the jedi were just stunned by seeing an oldman suddenly 360 barrel roll thru the air towards them it was only later i found out this was force scream being used
I feel like Force Lightning has no shown to be dated in the fact that at the time with special effects limitations, it was said to be the most powerful technique of the dark side. Now it seems low on the list though they have tried to beef it up with a believe a storm version.
I suspect you may have missed essence transfer, unless the order didnt actually know about the ability. I think you mentioned Jazen solo it seems that legends was also brought in. A few abilities that Darth Zannah used in the Darth Bane trillogy comes to mind, although i dont believe they were named. She uses a form of force fear that causes the victim to see such horrific visions that that some even clawed out their eyes and completely lost their mind. Aside from that, she could manifest the dark sode of the force as dark tendrils that would cause living tissue to dissolve or cease to exist or something - cant fully remember. Given that these feats were known to the jedi order, i suspect they definately should have been banned, as they seem quite a bit worse than some of the listed ones.

I feel one could argue when awaking awoke as Vader and learned of padme, his shout could've been a force scream. The heavy mechanical equipment could've contained the sheer power a bit but I always felt like that "NOOOOOOO" had POWER to it. Even if not directly meant to maim(plus sidious would likely be able to withstand one of his own moves, he likely taught it to vader)
brilliant video. always interesting to watch your videos because you tend to cover topics that others tend to look past
3:58 debilitating***
deliberating is like having a conversation with consideration for the other side, like the opposite of debating.
debilitate/ing is to make something weak
The Force Fear and its advanced forms as well as force lightning were also in KOTOR II.
I found force drain to be very useful as long it is used along side my use of either the darkside or lightside versions of being able to heal myself.
Yup, free healing.
It's clear how much effort goes into the content. It really shows.
Damn its such a great detail that the scream of palpatine in ROTS is actually an effect to kill his oppoments because kit fisto couldnt get killed like that

Force crush like what Luke did with dark troppers. Also I think there was a variant of force lighting that Star Killer used which pretty much vaporized everything around him.
he used it like a bomb storing it up 2 an extremely dangerous level before unleasing it at the last possible second doing this is just as likely 2 kill you as the people around u which is probably why its wasn't used by other darksiders
Starkiller used force repulse.
That yell Sidious let out as he attacked Mace Windu and his crew in episode 3 will always make me bust out laughing 😂
It would be cool to see a video on force alchemy (specifically the force healing aspect) as part of the dark side focused on it
The first 2 sound like the same thing to me. I think a more interesting thing would be to be able to concentrate force push in a small point to do a piercing attack.
This vid is so good (in many ways - topic, material/data, "script", sound...), that I've watched it 4 times since posting.
I truly appreciate clear speech, understandable english and most importantly lack of any background noise (sound/music) so common in many other vids. Please don't change that :)
It was a great experience and true pleasure to listen. Thank you :)
Very likely I'll enjoy it again. Thank you in advance :)))
Kyle Katarn Jedi Acadamy Aka JK3: "Force abilities are not inherently good or evil, it's how you use them."
Yeah, unfortunately that was just made up for the sake of gameplay mechanics
luke skywalker in legends said the same, comparing them to tools or instruments that you can use and what really matters is the intent or path you walk.
@@DarthRevan260 thats such a shit argument
In Dark Forces 2 you could pick a mix of both, but it wouldn't let you get the most powerful abilities of each as it was tied to your alignment. I liked it better than just giving you all powers of both disciplines in the later JK games, which was pretty confusing when you just get all these random sith powers in JK2.
@@junioraltamontent.7582 you could only select one power point per mission aside from the basics like jump push and such.
Well they are just my own home brew powers that I originally made for star wars DnD, but recently ive been trying to practice drawing/illustrating so I can try to make a fan comic; but I have come up with the following uses for the force that should theoretically be possible in canon: (most are really OP, so they'd need to be limited somehow in a story or bad-guy powers)
1. Force disintegrate - wave/shockwave that blows apart a target on a molecular level (watched Starkiller do something similar once)
2. Force stab - basically just standard force push but its concentrated to a fine point so it can punch a hole in a target. (I thought it would also be really cool if the user held their lightsaber/melee weapon out and used it as sort of a catalyst/focus point for the power)
(I have a concept for these sorta Jedi "Druid/Shaman" that go around remote parts of the galaxy and try to help create, restore, and/or maintain flaura and natural habitats/ecosystems on any planet they come to)
My favorite force power out of what's listed here is Force Plague. I have a KOTOR 2 build entirely based around it 😅
All of these sound amazing, so I think the best balancing factors would be;
Make them exceptionally hard to master
Make them really draining to the the user
Or make them very situational somehow
Force illusion is a force ability that exists in Legends.
Legends Luke could for sure.
if I recall starkiller build up and stored an extremely dangerous amount of energy from his force lightning before discharging it around him at this last possible second which if done even a tiny bit wrong would destroy him
@randymarshislorde since you welcome an ideas here is mine:
Shadows masquerade - manipulate opponent's senses to make caster disappear.
A perfect abillity for spies and baineite sith, shame it was known only to said cult
I confused Force crush with Force suppression yesterday; but now I have seen that when I use force crush it did what it did in the game as was described in the video.
Thanks for the awesome video! I like that the most, at least half, of the force abilites mentioned here are presented in KOTOR 1 & 2 :) Especially I laughed when I played as a Light Side Jedi Cinsular in second game and have maxed bothe force fear and force lightning))
@10:00 I was 100 % sure you where referring to the "noooo!"
I am pretty sure that Master Joruus C'baoth used force scream in the last book of the Dark Force Rising trilogy, "The Last Command"
I think Mind domination could be used to control the minds of Sith or servants of Sith to get information.
P.S Could you do one breaking down the different speices?
Force destruction in Jedi Knight: Dark forces 2 “The dark power of destruction emits a powerful ball of energy, demolishing anything in it's path.”
Force Kill - Jedi don’t kill people quickly using the force. They slice them up and leave them to die….slowly….in agony….near a lava field….or with a laser sword in general
A big one is Sith Alchemy. A whole host of sub-abilities came from it, and all of them were terrifying.
I recently did a dark side playthrough of kotor 2,and most of these force abilities were of the ones I used.
Using insanity on all the bosses was super fun. If I remember correctly it even affected Kreia's floating light sabres.
Flow Walking is what i find most fascinating.
I agree, it deserves more attention.
Force drain and insanity for sure! And ooh, mind domination!
That brings a whole other meaning to the phrase”if looks could kill”
They almost forgot about Force Impulse although it was mostly due to Galen Marik’s ability to do so in the games
I would like to see a top 10 strongest, light side abilities video. Thank you for the entertainment.
Ezra Bridger I think used mind domination on the first episode of season 3
Think there is one you missed, it comes in I believe book 1 or 2 of the Legends Jedi academy series. IN this scene, Gantoris is killed for refusing to go to the dark side, by Exar Kun. I think the ability sort of cooks him from the inside out. It could be force lightning I guess but it always seemed a lot more brutal to me than this.
Like the Sith would care if it's forbidden or not
They would most likely PREFER to use these forbidden techniques to piss off the Jedi
(Disclaimer most of this comes from the Novels, kotor video games, and Star Wars the old Republic)
force drain was my fav ability to use in jedi knight jedi academy

Terrak Morhage developed a Plague that cant even be listed here as a simple plague. What about those powers that Valkorion used: mind Control from afar, reincarnation, imortality, spirit absorption? The OLD SITHS knew rhe most crazy tricks in thw book 😅
Force Scream was also used by Obi Wan in A New Hope to scare away the sand people.
5:50 electric judgment was not "non-lethal". it had the same ability to kill as regular force lightning and luke even used it to instantly kill some Yuuzhan Vong slayers at one point.
what made it different was that it came from a sense of judgment/justice rather than a feeling of anger/rage.
I believe that force drain and for scream or by far some of the most effective crippling Force techniques
question: is that one attack of Trilla in jedi fallen order with which she can one shot you a version of force drain?
Force poison?
If Force kill is a thing, then that kinda breaks the whole Star Wars world, because why can't a Sith just use it against every Jedi he meets.
Can you do a video about every ship used by the Rebel Alliance and mention how big each one is
There was a force net power that could functionally resident evil laser net a person. Pretty sure it was used in the Yuzhan vong era by some dark Jedi types.
We need starkillers ball of force lighting ability cause its just amazing. And also the fact that he can use force lighting on his arm and have an insanely powerful punch.

Death field. A higher level of force drain as seen in knights of old republic.
Reminds me of the old joke use your left hand not your right.
There was a force user in visons 2 that used for scream I think.
Force Lightning always makes me think about Family Guy when Darth Stewie farted and he used Force Lightning to zap away all his pent up Darth Farts.
those force abilities in jedi knight academy game are quite cool
The craziest thing to me about Star Wars... is that the stuff that isn't shown on screens is a million times more interesting than most of the shows or movies. The most "out there" bad guy we ever got was Darth Maul. Some of these guys make him look like a puppy. We get Darth Vader. I want Darth Bane type villians.
Hey red five after this can you do all known force ability just a request
When i first saw revenge of the sith i thought the jedi were just stunned by seeing an oldman suddenly 360 barrel roll thru the air towards them it was only later i found out this was force scream being used
I feel like Force Lightning has no shown to be dated in the fact that at the time with special effects limitations, it was said to be the most powerful technique of the dark side. Now it seems low on the list though they have tried to beef it up with a believe a storm version.
Deadly sight gives a new meaning to if looks could kill
im suprised he dident include force fire, or any sith alchemy (with is defiently a force ability evenif it dosent have "force" in the name)
Shatterpoint was a forbidden ability because it could make enemies explode if I am not mistaken.

Force crush in KOTOR2 was awesome!!! on my evil run I was a monster crusher lolz I used the power a lot okay lol
Sidious force scream was always scary but kool to me.
Given that these feats were known to the jedi order, i suspect they definately should have been banned, as they seem quite a bit worse than some of the listed ones.
deadly sight is literally just force heat vision and I’m here for it
offensive application of thermal force powers ones that can freeze enemies or cause them feel intension heat or catch fire
I was walking in my house alone in the dark when the force scream came up and I can confirm it almost killed me.
Luke knows Force Crush and used it on the death bots (I forget the names) on the Mandalorian.
I mean it would make sense for Maul to develop deadly stare since he was able to survive on his own hatred, to learn to turn that hatred onto others
How did Lord Vitiate suck entire planets of their life? was that like a super force drain ?
It was ritual. Such rituals requirs preparation

i think you meant force plague is a "debilitating" ability on its target, but you said " fact acting poison, quickly deliberating the target"
In Kotor II, Slow was the basic version of Force Plague.
Theses are all on the old Republic games
I’m kinda surprised Force Repulse isn’t on here, since it like disintegrates people after storing force lighting inside one’s body and then expelling it violently.. yeah, Force Unleashed-
The strict adherence to the Jedi codes and their lack of vision was their downfall.
I know I'm not the only one who first discovered force drain in the Jedi knight games.
Also, it was SO annoying to deal with.
